Planners With Nothing to Plan?
I’m convinced this might actually be a weird thing. Back in November 2018, while I was looking for new ideas on making the most of my time, I joined a few planner groups. If you didn’t know, there are entire groups dedicated to tracking and planning, and in some cases the more creative aspect of planning.
So I get the whole adding color or stickers (function and beauty to make you happy about your work plan), but what I don’t get are the people who are more interested in decorating their plan...

Illuminated Darkness #occultfiction #demonolatry

Possession is 9/10 of the Law.
Magician Elizabeth Tanner is no stranger to supernatural trouble. When she finds herself possessed by the Daemon Lucifuge amid a full work schedule and planning her and Mike’s wedding, she adapts. However, Daemons don’t possess people randomly. The Daemon needs Elizabeth for something, and introduces her and Mike to The Antichrist’s Temple – ran by a man known as Drakaris Deathspell, head of the inner circle – the Dark Diocese. When Liz and Mike learn that Dea...

Why I Participate in Magickal Anthologies #Magick
I often get asked why I participate in anthologies (especially certain ones) and while I don’t really owe anyone an explanation at all, I thought I would share three major reasons to answer the question once and for all.
1. To share my ideas with an audience outside my existing audience. These seemingly small articles actually draw new magicians to my work, perhaps giving them more practical, real-world applications for magick. I am a practical magician who has dedicated her life to sharing...

The Myth of Exposure #AmWriting
Having been a professional writer for many years, and having worked at my career for over 25 years, the one word I hate to hear more than anything is “exposure”. When I was young and aspiring, and desperate for publication, I heard that word tossed around a lot.
“Come do a reading. It will be great exposure!”
“Submit to this magazine. We don’t pay, but we provide excellent exposure!”
“You have to give away your writing free in the beginning if you want the exposure!”
“Being in this anthology...

10 Ways to be Successful: Hacking It
I thought I would throw out some of my thoughts today about how you become good at something, and how you become successful with it, because I’m not sure everyone out there understands this. I often get a lot of email from people wanting to become good at magick, or writing, or some other skill, but they don’t know how to make that happen. So think of the following as a bit of a roadmap to success. It’s not the only map, certainly, but I think most successful people will agree with most of wh...

I Didn’t Write It For You
All writers understand that not everyone is going to like what they write. Some books will be a hit, others miss the mark. There is no way an author can please all the people all the time. It’s an impossibility.
Every author will eventually get that one star review by the reader who absolutely hated one of their books. IMO, that first bad review is a rite of passage every author should celebrate because it usually means one of several things. 1. That people you don’t know are actually reading...

Focus Meditation 30: Tarot #DoMagick
Meditation Title: Tarot Meditation (or any Oracle Deck)
Technique: You can use a tarot, Lenormand, or any oracle deck for this. There are two methods for doing this meditation. One is for learning tarot or a new oracle, the other is for divination. I’ll describe both.
TO LEARN A NEW DECK: Sit in silence for about two minutes, focusing on your breath. Pull out your deck of cards, shuffle them, then randomly pull one to three cards from the deck and place them before you. (Pull one at a time i...

Focus Meditation 29: Freewriting #DoMagick
Meditation Title: More Freewriting!
Technique: Ever since completing The Artists Way Workshop, I have found morning pages (basically a daily freewriting practice) to be an extra beneficial type of meditation that I’ve added to my daily practice. I usually spend thirty minutes on it. The idea behind it is you put pen to paper and just write streaming consciousness type thoughts. You can do this in a more directed manner, by picking a topic or keyword, or any other type of prompt, and using th...

Focus Meditation 28: Qigong #DoMagick
Meditation Title: More Qigong
Technique: Qigong is similar to Tai Chi, except, IMHO, it’s a LOT easier to learn. Tai Chi, to me, is like trying to learn to dance because, it seems, the sequences move incredibly fast and there’s a LOT of choreography. Qigong, however, puts more emphasis on the rhythmic breathing, energy movement, relaxation, calm mind, and being able to do all of this while gently moving and stretching the body. Gently! That’s the key word for me. You can also do Qigong SITTIN...
