New Album Hard Headed Woman Arrives August 29th On Loma Vista Recordings, Featuring Tyler Childers, Jesse Welles & More Hell-Bent Country Songs

Today, Margo Price revisits her earliest days in Nashville on new single, "Losing Streak": sleeping off a three-day party in the backseat of her '91 Ford Explorer, moving to town with a handful of half-finished songs, spending two weeks in the same clothes on the brink of a mental meltdown, lost and slipping low, wondering why she left home and came down here at all. Whirling in with an organ and a world-worn sense of defiance, this resilient country rocker offers proof that while our worst times don't define us, they are always part of who we are.

Listen to  "Losing Streak"   via Loma Vista Recordings, and watch the lyric video here:  https://fm.margoprice.net/losingstreaklyric

"'Losing Streak' tells the story of my early years coming up in Nashville. It is a coming-of-age story inspired by struggle, substances and the search for the perfect song. It was co-written with my husband and songwriting partner, Jeremy Ivey."

-Margo Price

"Losing Streak" marks the latest preview of Margo Price's forthcoming album, Hard Headed Woman, a hell-bent collection of country music out August 29th, reconnecting Margo Price with her roots, and further redefining what it means to be a modern outlaw. Reunited with producer Matt Ross-Spang (Midwest Farmer's DaughterAll American Made), and recorded in the historic RCA Studio A, Hard Headed Woman is the first album Price has made in Nashville, a town she has called home for more than 20 years, and vitally helped to transform, creating a lane where independent and insurgent country music can exist and thrive alongside the mainstream. Like her lauded memoir, Maybe We'll Make It, due out on paperback September 2nd, "Losing Streak" recounts her turbulent journey to the city and into the scene, while the rest of Hard Headed Womantraces her battle since – from dive bars to tour buses, through parenthood and marriage, scrutiny and sacrifice in a town that prizes uniformity and the bottom line.

In recent weeks, Margo Price has released Hard Headed Woman's freewheeling "Don't Wake Me Up" (feat. Jesse Welles), with a video paying homage to Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues," and "Don't Let The Bastards Get You Down," an underdog anthem that nods to Kris Kristofferson, Sinéad O'Connor, The Handmaid's Taleand co-writer Rodney Crowell. She also took Newport Folk Festival by storm, playing the mainstage with special appearances from Jesse Welles and John C. Reilly, covering Bob Dylan and Dolly Parton, drumming on a showstopping rendition of "Rockin' in the Free World" with Lukas Nelson, Stephen Wilson Jr. and Joe Russo, denouncing ICE and more, in addition to sitting down with CNN and PBS' Amanpour, to discuss Hard Headed Woman and her way of speaking up against injustices.

Having just wrapped a stint of shows with Mumford and Sons, Margo Price will bring the music of Hard Headed Woman on the road this October and November for her Wild At Heart Tour. Backed by a brand new live band and armed with her newly-launched, signature Gibson J-45 guitar, the run features two dozen headline dates throughout North America, including Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and more, following appearances at Farm Aid and other festivals across the country. MoonKill blow up the moon in "Murderhouse" video

MoonKill share "Murderhouse" video

Watch/share "Murderhouse" video (YouTube)

“Moonkill live somewhere in the world of darkened punk realms where all things Danzig are held sacred…There's something in the band that feels very much like you're driving West on I-10 in an old Cadillac with your hair blowing from beneath your cowboy hat...basically Danzig fronting Clutch.” — Austin Town Hall

"Everything you could possibly want from the darker side of punk." -- New Noise Magazine

"A cocktail of punk, hardcore and space rock making their own quintessential noise combo.” – Punktuation

Austin band MoonKill share the official video for "Murderhouse" from their full length debut album today via Echoes & Dust in the UK HERE and Austin Town Hall in North America HERE. The video satirizes low budget sci-fi horror of yore. And, it's now live to watch and share on YouTube HERE.

MoonKill plays untethered Texas Punk. Inserting ambient spacey sounds & new-wave tension into a punk world that is difficult to pin down. Vocalist Dan Aronov croons and howls with the powerful pipes of young Glenn Danzig, while the rest of the band blasts out tight and infectious melodic, metallic punk rock. Together throughout the album, the band harnesses simplicity to powerful effect.

MoonKill materialized in a T-shirt factory, which doubled as an after-hours practice space, in Austin, TX. The quartet all connected for a random jam session in May 2022. The drummer was the lynchpin in a network of friends, which included a guitarist who lived in a trailer in his driveway at the time. The first session produced their initial song “Long Line to Hell'' and they have been growing their queue of Texas Punk songs ever since.

The band self-produced a 3 song EP, The Kong Sessions, in the loft of their friend’s screen-printing shop. After presenting it to producer/engineer Roky Moon (of American Sharks), he offered to produce their debut album, which was completed in February 2024. They played their first live show in Sept. 2023, to a packed house, and began a relentless live show schedule.

Since then, others have taken notice, including their growing fan base in and around Austin. Their EP gained notice from music critics, including Greg Kot (Chicago Tribune) who featured “Dead Holiday” on his syndicated show, Sound Opinions.

MoonKill is available to stream & download, released on May 24, 2024. Order/Save HERE.

Behind The Gallery proudly presents its latest exhibition, Alternative Nation: A Retrospective—a raw, unfiltered look at the rise of alternative music and culture from the 1990s through the early 2000s—debuting in Chicago next month. Hosted by After, Michelin-Starred Chef Curtis Duffy’s cocktail bar, the exhibit features never-before-seen and classic images of Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Meat Puppets, and more. This unprecedented show brings together the iconic work of five visionary photographers—Joseph Cultice, Jonathan Rach, Chris Cuffaro, Kevin Westenberg, and Scarlet Page—whose lenses helped define the way we see an era. Together, their work documents the seismic shift when grunge, industrial, and alt-rock exploded from the fringes and forever changed not just the sound, but the image, of music.  “This show isn’t just a trip down memory lane—it’s a time capsule of a moment when music felt dangerous, emotional, and deeply human,” says Behind The Gallery founder and curator Stephen Dallimore. “Each photographer was there, trusted by the bands, and that connection comes through in every frame. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s long overdue.” These genres gave voice to a generation navigating emotional extremes, alienation, and identity. Grunge acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam pushed back against glossy mainstream culture with raw, unfiltered vulnerability, while industrial acts like Nine Inch Nails created darker, confrontational spaces—fusing rock and electronics and embracing taboo themes that drew subcultures into the spotlight. These photographs reflect more than performance; they capture the unvarnished authenticity and creative rebellion of artists navigating a time when music was not only heard but felt—deeply, viscerally, and defiantly. “We’re excited to host Behind the Gallery in Chicago,” said Curtis Duffy. “They’ve put together a showcase of incredible photographers I happen to love, and musicians I also happen to love. It’s an amazing combination. I think Chicago’s art and music fans are really going to enjoy everything they bring to After.” Alternative Nation: A Retrospective is the first in a planned series of shows that will expand to other cities featuring additional photographers and evolving narratives. “The curation of the images is designed to showcase a mix of live performances, iconic editorial shots, and candid moments—many of which have never been seen before. These are not just portraits; they are windows into an era—rich with emotion, identity, and cultural shift,” Dallimore adds. “Many of these artists are now considered legacy acts, but this exhibition isn’t just for longtime fans—it’s also for a new generation that craves authenticity. In a digital age where connection can feel shallow, there’s something powerful about experiencing these raw, analog images. It was a time when music felt fresh, exciting, and dangerous—an era that still carried a sense of mystery, even at its most exposed.” Opening night will include special appearances by Jonathan Rach and Joseph Cultice, both who return on Saturday for an artist talk and Q&A with host Curtis Duffy at 5 PM. Photographer show Inclusions by Artist:
    •    Chris Cuffaro: Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden
    •    Joseph Cultice: Aphex Twin, Björk, Danzig, Marilyn Manson, Meat Puppets, Smashing Pumpkins

Wolf Alice ramp up to the release of their highly anticipated fourth album  The Clearing  with a brand new track, ‘White Horses,’ out today. Listen  HERE.

The only song on  The Clearing  to see drummer Joel Amey who wrote the song, take on lead vocals before a harmonious duet with Ellie takes hold. Joel explains, “I was inspired by what songs we had already that were becoming The Clearing; the sonic shapes we were creating, the big acoustics, the harmonies, but I wanted to underpin it with a driving krautrock beat.”

The lyrics are about his family, “We’ve never really known where we came in terms of heritage until recently. My mum and my aunt were adopted, and for years it posed questions of identity and where our roots lay for all of us, but for me, they never seemed like answers I needed to find out.” As he travelled the world with Wolf Alice throughout his 20’s, his sense of home became vaguer. “I was on this big adventure with my best mates, never feeling the need to call one place home, living out of a suitcase, all the stuff that comes with being in a band. I felt that the answers to ‘who I am and where do I come from?’ didn’t matter so much; I'd chosen my family and they were the people around me.” But with many things in life, as Joel grew older, a growing curiosity to get answers on his background grew. ”White Horses was me trying to put all that into a tune, and Ellie, Joff and Theo helped me all along the way.”.

‘White Horses’ follows on from critically aclaimed singles Bloom Baby Bloom’ and most recently, ‘The Sofa which the band shared after their returning from a glorious sunset performance at Glastonbury.

Written in Seven Sisters and recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy® Award-winning, master producer Greg Kurstin last year, The Clearing is to be released on August 22 and reveals where Wolf Alice stand sonically in 2025, delivering a supremely confident collection of songs bursting with ambition, ideas and emotion;  The Clearing  is a truly timeless record.

Both playful and serious, ironic and straight-talking,  The Clearing  is a progressive shift from a band whose exploration of love, loss and human connection has already articulated the coming-of-age experience for a whole generation. It’s a classic pop/rock album that nods to the ‘70s while remaining rooted firmly in the present. If Fleetwood Mac wrote an album today in North London, you’d get somewhere close to this run of effortlessly grand tracks, each as distinct as the last. Sonically, there is no waste, no fuss, with more authoritative melodies than the band has ever crafted before. This is a new beginning, and each of the band feels it as keenly as listeners will.

Front and center of  The Clearing  is Rowsell’s ever-evolving poetic storytelling alongside an innate desire for Ellie, Joff, Theo and Joel to have fun, secure in their ambition and ability at this unique moment in time.  The Clearing  encapsulates that freeing feeling of finding a moment of peace and clarity, having survived the freewheeling frivolity of your 20s, emerging into your future and is a portrait of Wolf Alice standing on the precipice of a new decade in both life and art.

This North London quartet have come a long way since they first emerged in 2013 as a young band holding a mirror up to their own emerging generation. In 2025, Wolf Alice’s fourth album  The Clearing  finds them at the peak of their powers, grown into a band of generational importance. While the bruised euphoria of their debut My Love Is Cool, which featured the Grammy-nominated ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’, both captured and perfectly soundtracked the experience of youth first cutting their musical teeth, 2018’s follow up  Visions Of A Life  cemented their rise with a Mercury Music Prize, before the precious hurt of 2022’s Blue Weekend and its resultant UK number 1 and Brit Award for Best Group. In the process, lead singer Ellie Rowsell has grown into a storytelling icon, weaving cautionary tales of how your twenties will hurt you, but in valuable ways. Wolf Alice have also toured the world multiple times headlining sold out tours, gracing numerous festival stages and supporting an array of key artists including pop icon Harry Styles. This summer so far sees them performing at Radio 1’s Big Weekend followed by a top spot at Glastonbury.

HO99O9 DETAIL NEW ALBUM FT. CHELSEA WOLFE, PINK SIIFU, GREG PUCIATO + DROP NEW SONG AND VIDEO

HO99O9 DROP NEW SONG FT. PINK SIIFU, NOVA TWINS AND YUNG SKRRT

DETAIL NEW ALBUM TOMORROW WE ESCAPE WHICH WILL FEATURE CHELSEA WOLFE, GREG PUCIATO AND OTHERS

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “INCLINE”

Los Angeles by way of New Jersey outlaws Ho99o9 (horror) have detailed their their third album, Tomorrow We Escape, out September 9th. With features from Chelsea Wolfe, Greg Puciato & MoRuf  (full tracklisting below), today they’ve released a new, Dave Sitek-produced track “Incline” ft. Nova Twins, Pink Siifu, and Yung Skrrt. It arrives with a politically charged, fashion-forward video that you can see here. The track follows first single “Upside Down,” a neck-snapping blend of warped guitars, woozy melodies, and driving bass-lines.

A true amalgamation of all the band’s influences—experimental hip-hop, digital hardcore, future-facing punk, metal, jarring industrial, and off-kilter electronics—the album is their most emotionally charged offering to date, rooted in personal struggle and triumph. “It was a healthy challenge to focus on emotion. In the past, a lot of our material was politically charged. That element is present to a degree, but we wanted to take a more personal route. This mindset drove how we wrote songs. Everybody has a struggle. The goal is to find motivation for preservation.”

The New Jersey-bred outfit made its way to Los Angeles over a decade ago. Surging and seething just below the surface, the pair broke through as an apocalyptically fascinating outlier with their 2017 full-length debut, United States of Horror. In the meantime, their infamous live shows became the stuff of legend as they packed houses on their own and shared stages with everyone from Slipknot, Korn, Alice In Chains, Rob Zombie, Ministry, and The Dillinger Escape Plan to Lil Uzi Vert, Denzel Curry, Cypress Hill, and Ghostface Killah. Earning the respect of an elite cohort of peers, popular collaborations placed them toe-to-toe with Corey Taylor of Slipknot, The Prodigy, JPEGMAFIA, Ghostemane, HEALTH, 3TEETH, and N8NOFACE, to name a few. Jack Black made an appearance in their KULT CABLE series while they guested on The Eric Andre Show. They've received further acclaim from The New York Times, NME, The Guardian, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, The FADER, Revolver, and more. They stand out as the rare phenomenon who can decimate Hellfest , enchant at Glastonbury and captivate on A COLORS SHOW.

HUNX AND HIS PUNX SHARE "WILD BOYS" VIDEO; NEW ALBUM OUT AUGUST 22 + FALL TOUR

HUNX AND HIS PUNX SHARE TRASHY THROWBACK VIDEO "WILD BOYS"

FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 12 YEARS WALK OUT ON THIS WORLD OUT AUGUST 22, 2025 VIA GET BETTER RECORDS

WATCH "WILD BOYS"

Today, Hunx and His Punx share new song "Wild Boys" off their first new album in 12 years, Walk Out On This World, out on August 22, 2025 via Get Better Records.

“Wild Boys” is a sweaty, shouty ode to chasing the worst possible boys and loving every second of it. Equal parts Hunx worship and locker room fantasy, it’s all horny grins and terrible ideas in tight pants.

Album artwork by Robert Beatty

WATCH "WILD BOYS"

Hunx and His Punx are a California band featuring Seth Bogart, Shannon Shaw and Erin Emslie. Since they got back together in 2019 it seemed like teenage dreams were coming true. First they played John Waters’ birthday party, then they toured with Bikini Kill, got to open for The B-52s at their favorite festival and started recording their first album since 2013. They never would have guessed that it would end up taking 5 years to complete. Or that they would soon be going through some very brutal times - a tragic death, a global pandemic and being impacted of one by one of California’s worst wildfires in history.

On August 16, 2022, the same day their “White Lipstick” single was released on Sub Pop Records, Shannon’s fiancé and close friend of the band Joe Haener was tragically killed in a car accident. Totally devastated, they stopped working on their album for over a year while Shannon grieved and made an album with Shannon and the Clams. Eventually they picked up again when Shannon moved down to LA to be closer to Seth and Erin. They were always close friends but were now bonded together for life. This led to writing some of the band’s first songs about grief, “Rainy Day in LA” and “Walk Out On This World”.

A couple years later while putting the final touches on the album and preparing to start shooting music videos, tragedy struck again. On January 7, 2025, the Eaton Fires erupted and destroyed the majority of Altadena, CA. About half of the new Hunx record was written in Seth’s basement which is now contaminated with ash and toxic smoke damage and most of the neighborhood destroyed. Grief and loss once again made finishing anything feel impossible, so they pushed back the release date by a few months.

Which brings us to NOW. Now is finally the time, On August 22, 2025, Hunx and His Punx will officially release their first album in 12 years, Walk Out On This World. It’s their first with Get Better Records, a label the band is excited to be working with due to their focus on queer and trans artists.  Between 2010 and 2013, Hunx and His Punx released 3 albums - Gay Singles, Too Young To Be in Love and Street Punk, on Hardly Art and True Panther Sounds. They were celebrated and often associated with the queer core, punk and “garage rock” music worlds. From 2014-2019 they took a 5 year hiatus. Seth got really busy with visual art and recorded some solo albums. Shannon was equally as busy with her band Shannon & The Clams and releasing her first solo record. Now they have finally returned with their fourth album, Walk Out On This World.

The end of the world is near and it’s filled with wild boys, rainy days, bad thoughts, death and grief, white lipstick, and doing acid alone in Hollywood. “If it’s the end of the world, I want to have some fun”. These definitely feel like end times. And no one knows better than this band, that for every tear you shed, you must laugh twice as hard and you will eventually be OK.

Twin Shadow releases glimmering new single "Dominoes"

TWIN SHADOW RELEASES GLIMMERING

NEW SINGLE “DOMINOES” – LISTEN

ANNOUNCES SEVENTH ALBUM CADET

COMING SOON VIA DOM RECS

PLAYING SELECT DATES ACROSS CALIFORNIA LATER THIS MONTH

MORE INFO AND TICKETS HERE

Today, acclaimed musician Twin Shadow shares “Dominoes,” the first single from his seventh album CADET, which is set to be released this year via Dom Recs. Produced by Twin Shadow with longtime friend and close collaborator Blackpaw, “Dominoes” comes to life through dynamic drum programming that adds urgency and new texture to one of Twin Shadow’s most intimate performances to date – you can hear the fun two friends had making the track. Both sonically expansive and lyrically direct, “Dominoes” captures the magic of hope.

“Dominoes is a reflection on vulnerability, distance, and devotion. The chorus sings:  If my heart is an ocean / it’s totally blue = I’m all in.”

–Twin Shadow

CADET follows Twin Shadow’s intimate sixth album, Georgie, which was released in March of this year. Dedicated to his late father, Georgie explores themes of grief, memory, and introspection through stripped-back and dreamy instrumentation. CADET sees Twin Shadow back in his drum machine bag with punchy drumbeats and heated warping synthesizers.

LISTEN TO “DOMINOES”

Later this month, Twin Shadow will be performing select dates across California:

Wednesday, August 27 – The Chapel – San Francisco

Thursday, August 28 – Moe’s Alley – Santa Cruz

Friday, August 29 – SoHo Music Club – Santa Barbara

Saturday, August 30 – Pappy & Harriet's  – Pioneertown

Rewiring and rewriting the state of NYC rock and roll, The Thing today releases their third album, the fully analog, self-titled The Thing. Released via the band’s own label, Onion Records, the album has gradually been rolled out since March in a series of thematic A/B-sides. Rounding out the project today, the four-piece releases the final two tracks “Malört” and “Irresistible,” now giving listeners the entire journey meant to be listened to in sequential order, loudly — Stream

What is The Thing? It’s a New York band, sure, but it’s also an ethos. A return to rock and roll’s roots — to garage bands toiling between the family minivans, to groups like The Beatles and their unique alchemy, to tape machines and live band recordings instead of slick studios and myriad songwriters. “We've kind of adapted the ethos of: with restriction comes creativity — old becomes new. And throughout every part of the process that remains true,” says guitarist/vocalist Jack Bradley.

Never is that more apparent than on their self-titled third record. A rough and tumble suite of 12 songs that nods to everyone from The Kinks to The White Stripes, The Thing sounds like old New York revivicated and remixed. “It showcases all of us, all of our different personalities,” says bassist/vocalist Zane Acord. “In The Thing, we’re a collective band. We hang our hats on being a true band — where we all have the spotlight. I think that gives us a different edge.”

The four members of The Thing came from intersecting backgrounds, lending to their rock-and-roll-as-melting-pot vibe. Acord grew up with a drummer dad who hipped him to bands like Led Zeppelin and Grand Funk Railroad; he met guitarist/vocals Michael Carter — an avid Beatles fan — in middle school. The duo went on to collect Bradley in high school, an aspiring producer with a studio in his basement and a yen for psych rock. Jazz drummer Lucas Ebeling linked up with the band when everyone found their way to New York in 2022.

While the quartet juggled odd jobs to pay the rent, they self-recorded their 2023 debut, the rollicking Here’s the Thing, between Acord’s childhood bedroom in Connecticut and Bradley’s Brooklyn studio. As would become their custom, the band recorded live, all in one room, on tape. Their second record, The Thing Is, dropped mere months later — recorded in a poolhouse behind their tour manager’s childhood home. All the while, they hit the road — hard — playing more than 300 shows across the U.S., Europe and the U.K. When they returned stateside, though, it was time to make their official mark on the rock music scene with their self-titled masterwork. “When you go back and look at classic albums, most bands, especially in the ‘60s and ‘70s, have a self-titled album, and it's usually the coolest and the strongest,” says Bradley. “We felt really proud and wanted to lead with our strongest foot with this album.” And given that the new release is essentially 46 minutes of mind-melting sonic swagger, it’s safe to say they succeeded.

Take opener “Above Snakes,” which bursts through the stereos like a blast of ‘70s bombast. “I felt like we were just in a cycle of making money and spending it on rent,” says Acord. “This song alludes to the fire we have and how we put everything into this project — trying to break The Man’s cycle.” And then comes the frantic, finger-snapping “Dave’s TV” — named for a long-forgotten electronic store near Acord’s hometown that always seemed lost to time. “It’s about being into this girl, but she's into someone else, and, at night, she's watching Dave's TV — not yours,” he says. “Family Business” slithers and pops in next, inspired by The Royal Tenenbaums’ cursed brood. “I painted a picture of a dysfunctional family — but one you’re still attached to and need. The family biz,” says Carter.

“Can You Help Me” kicks off with a thumb in the eye to LA musicians and their hoards of songwriters — “I think of it as a little bit tongue-in-cheek, where it's like, ‘Can you give me a song? Do it for me,’” says Bradley — while the Byrds-tinged “Mr. Useless” employs David Bowie’s cut-and-paste lyrical method to tell a story about “finding meaning in life, as opposed to sitting and watching and waiting for fate to step in,” says Carter. Things slow down molasses-sweet with the classic waltz of a track, “The Waltz,” which Acord says he “wrote about a toxic relationship: even though it's bad for you, you love it.” And when “Alive (The Sword)” rocks in like a viking ship on the high seas, Bradley says it’s time to reflect on “having patience and becoming the person that you know you should be — and having faith. There's no need to jump the gun, which is something that I struggle with.”

The epic, echoing “Holy Water” slides in next in true The Thing style. “It came out really organically, all of us just playing and having the first part completely die out and then kick back in with the same chords and same song, but just with the different inflection,” says Bradley. And then everything explodes once more on “Something to Say,” a track about “having a voice.” “Insane” mirrors the hectic recording process — racing against a broken tape machine, spiraling into the night — while also harking back to “a bad end to a situationship,” Acord says. And the oddball, fever dream “Malört” — named after the Chicago liquor — is quite simply, “an ode to how you feel when you're really, really f’d up,” says Bradley.

Bookending it all — all the things that make The Thing, well, a thing — is the high-octane “Irresistible,” a rumination, Acord says, on “how everyone in New York is beautiful and this place is really insane. It’s easy to become enchanted — lost.”

“That was the perfect end to the album, because it starts off rocking and ends the same way,” Bradley adds. “We threw all of our different various influences throughout — all the decades of rock and roll and adjacent genres — and ended up with something of our own. Our contribution to the genre. Our style. Our… thing.”

LONG LIVE THE THING.

Ahead of the album’s full release, The Thing won the praise of Rolling Stone, CLASH, AltPress and more, as well as the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds Rock and editorial nods from All New Rock and New Noise. They also released a live session with WNXP filmed during a recent trip to Nashville.

The Thing has covered a lot of ground in 2025. Most recently, they wrapped up their momentous, sold-out three-week residency at Night Club 101 in New York City. Due to popular demand, the band added a fourth New York show that will now be their album release party.

Before they triumphantly headed back to their stomping grounds, the band closed out their European tour by opening for The Black Keys in Berlin to a sold out crowd of 10,000 people. While in Europe, they played to ravenous crowds at Freak Valley Fest, Best Kept Secret and Relache Fest. And for the first time ever, the band will be playing shows in Australia including SXSW Sydney. All tour information can be found here

- TURN & WORK

Nashville experimental duo Total Wife, the project of Luna Kupper and Ash Richter, are excited to share “make it last” as the latest single from their upcoming record Come Back Down, out August 6, 2025 via the tastemaking Philadelphia label Julia’s War Recordings. On “make it last,” layered guitars and simmering vocals bolster the poignant lyrics of longing for the present moment to last into immortality.

“‘make it last’ started as kind of a horny song,” vocalist and lyricist Ash Richter explains. “I was experimenting with lyric writing that felt a little less serious or sappy, but the more I worked through it, the more it kind of ended up as a love song to the road, or like an ode to time passing veiled by the excitement of living. When overwhelming euphoria removes you from your surroundings and sense of time.”

John Carpenter’s soundtracks for the most recent Halloween trilogy, made alongside his frequent collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, marked the legendary director and composer’s return to film scoring after nearly two decades away. 2018’s Halloween, 2021’s Halloween Kills, and 2022’s Halloween Ends were all directed by David Gordon Green, who engaged Carpenter early in the pre-production process, ultimately enlisting him as both an executive producer and soundtrack composer for the trilogy. Now, for the first time, expanded editions of all three scores are being made available by Carpenter’s longtime label, Sacred Bones Records. Halloween: The Complete Expanded Collection, a deluxe box set collecting the definitive editions of all three scores, plus standalone versions of the expanded Halloween, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends soundtracks, will be out on October 3, 2025.

These releases are available to pre-order and pre-save today, alongside two previously unheard tracks:

In listening to the recent Halloween scores, the collaborative spirit among the composing trio is one of the first things that jumps out. The now-famous bowed guitar part on Halloween’s “The Shape Hunts Allyson,” like all the guitar parts strewn across the trilogy, is played by Daniel Davies. John calls Daniel “the adventurer” of the group, and credits him with introducing sounds he’d never have considered. Cody, who his father refers to as a “musical savant,” is an equally essential presence. It’s his steady, methodical hand that helps give shape to the ideas that fly around when these three get in a room together. The scores for the new films may be centred on familiar themes, but they’re also a lot more sonically diverse and musically audacious than anything John could have pulled off in 1978, when he made the original Halloween.

“Oh my God, I had three days, and I had me,” John recalls. “I didn’t have anybody who could play anything. No picture, no nothing. Just sit down and play. I would say, let me have a beat. And Dan Wyman, the synthesiser teacher at USC, would tune up the tube amps and I’d play that. It was really crude. If you listen to those scores, there’s not a lot of variation. It repeats a lot of the same music, over and over again. I’d go back with four or five pieces and cut it into the movie.”

That John was able to emerge from that situation with perhaps the greatest horror movie soundtrack of all time is a testament to his genius. The new Halloween scores provide different pleasures altogether. They’re the sound of three formidable musicians working in perfect lockstep, limited not by technology or time or budget but by their own imaginations. On the expanded editions of these great scores, John, Daniel, and Cody’s working process comes to life. To truly appreciate everything that went into them, you need to hear not only the big, show-stopping moments like “The Shape Hunts Allyson” but the short, interstitial cues that give these movies their shape and texture. With the expanded versions of all three soundtracks now becoming available for the first time, you can finally do just that.

Now for the first time ever, the complete Halloween trilogy – Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends – is being released in fully expanded editions. These definitive versions feature previously unreleased music cues that reveal new layers of the iconic scores. The expanded version of Halloween Kills features 25 unreleased music cues, while Halloween Ends adds 10 new tracks, deepening the movie’s haunting sonic energy. Halloween Expanded also returns with a brand new visual presentation, featuring all new artwork by Chris Bilheimer. These expanded scores are finally hitting streaming platforms, and will also be available in a wide range of physical formats, including various LPs and CD, with each expanded edition containing a poster designed by Creepy Duck.

In addition to the individual expanded releases, the Halloween: The Complete Expanded Collection will also be available as part of a deluxe limited box set, offered in 6xLP and 3xCD formats. These editions feature exclusive new packaging and artwork by Chris Bilheimer, along with expansive liner notes by music critic Brad Sanders, which include exclusive interviews with John Carpenter and director David Gordon Green, three collectible posters designed by Creepy Duck, a box set-exclusive poster design by Chris Bilheimer, and a deluxe lenticular cover that brings the artwork to life. For John Carpenter collectors, Halloween completists, and all fans of great film music, Halloween: The Complete Expanded Collection should be considered an essential, landmark release.

In case you missed the news, John Carpenter returns to stage to perform his iconic scores at The Belasco in Los Angeles and at Knockdown Center in NYC this Autumn, marking his first live performances since 2018.
