Rolling Stone Premieres Jake Bellows's "I Know You"
Rolling Stone Premieres Jake Bellows's "I Know You" MP3Debut Solo Album New Ocean Out August 6 On Saddle Creek

Rolling Stone has premiered Jake Bellows's new MP3 "I Know You" from his debut solo albumNew Ocean out August 6 on Saddle Creek. Bellows told Rolling Stone, "'I Know You' attempts to illustrate the commonality of the human experience. When we look at someone who smiles, we know what it is to feel happy. When we see someone sad, we can instantly identify with that feeling. We have empathy for one another. We're on the same planet having the same experiences from different perspectives." New Ocean was recorded at Omaha's ARC Studios with engineer Ben Brodin (Before the Toast and Tea, Conor Oberst), Ryan Fox (The Good Life), Todd Fink (The Faint), and Heath Koontz (Neva Dinova). New Ocean is now available for pre-order on CD & LP via Saddle Creek and limited edition cassette through Majestic Litter. Jake Bellows is currently on tour and will play shows in Salt Lake City, Portland, San Francisco and more. On June 26 at 8pm CST, Jake Bellows will perform live on Stageit, a web-based platform that enables artists to easily create live shows directly from their computers. The online performances streamed on Stageit are not archived, so it remains a truly unique experience for the virtual attendees. Tickets are for the performance are available now.
Jake Bellows had quit music. Or so he thought. After fronting Neva Dinova for more than 15 years, which included five full-lengths, a split EP, and countless tours, he packed up his dog and moved from his native Omaha to his girlfriend's hometown of Los Angeles. Two days before he left he recorded 18 demos with musician and engineer Ben Brodin at Brodin's insistence. Once in L.A., Bellows got a job installing sliding-glass doors and sold his Les Paul to buy a Datsun pick-up truck.
Though he had no plans to form a new band, he played the occasional solo show, performed withWhispertown, and continued to write songs. In early 2011, an invitation arrived from Omaha's Film Streams Theater for Jake's old friend Ryan Fox also living on the West Coast, to perform an original live film-score. Fox enlisted Bellows and Brodin to collaborate and the trio began to compose and discuss improvisational ideas over long-distance. Since they were all going to be in Omaha and had a long history of playing in each other's bands, Brodin and Fox nudged Bellows into booking studio time to record some of his dormant songs.
Fox and Bellows drove from LA to Omaha that November. They entered ARC Studios for a feverish recording session, arranging and writing parts on the fly with an impromptu band including Heath Koontz, Todd Fink, Whispertown bandmate Morgan Nagler and other old friends. Committing quickly to intuitive arrangements the band recorded 17 tracks in a little more than a week. They worked remotely on the record throughout that winter and spring, adding overdubs in basements and bedrooms across western North America.
The group reunited in Omaha to debut the new songs at a couple of shows the following June. Excited to release the new material on their own terms the band put out a preview EP on cassette, Help, at the end of 2012. The new music is underpinned by philosophical conviction and shaped by an interest in physics, cosmology and mythology. Bellows returned to music with a renewed sense of the intrinsic value of art and its ability to express the commonality of human experience. His debut full-length, New Ocean, offers a mix tape of different kinds of songs hanging out on one record - love songs that are not necessarily ballads despite their introspective gauziness, with left turns into drunk-in-the-sun bossa nova and blue-eyed-soul ruptured by fuzz guitar. Bellows believes that songs change the fabric of the universe through the very frequencies they emit. As such, the record attempts to create the world he wants to see instead of reflect the world that is.

GEOGRAPHER tour
GEOGRAPHER TO EMBARK ONNATIONWIDE HEADLINE TOUR IN AUGUST
CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED ALBUM MYTH OUT NOW
"[One of the] undiscovered bands you need to hear now!" - SPIN
San Francisco indie-rock trio Geographer is gearing up for a summer headlining tour, with support from Carpark Records' GRMLN, beginning August 8 in Portland, OR. The 3-week nationwide run is the follow-up to the band's hugely successful headlining tour this past January, which saw them perform to sold out crowds in major cities including The Fillmore in San Francisco, Schubas in Chicago, The Echo in Los Angeles, The Mohawk in Austin and more. SF Weekly raves that their sets are "a surreal," while The Bay Bridged declared, "Deni and the crew cast graceful, effervescent synth sounds and crystal-clear vocals over an undulating audience...a 90-minute (most likely drunken) dance party." After the tour wraps, Geographer will be performing at the LAUNCH Festival in Sacramento, CA on September 8.
Geographer will be adding dates to the tour using concert crowd-funding start up WeDemand, which allows fans to participate in making shows happen! Don't see your city listed here? Head to http://wedemand.com/geographer to demand a show in your city.
This tour continues a very successful 18 months for Geographer, including the release of their highly acclaimed album MYTH , which the San Francisco Chronicle proclaims "pop music hasn't seen such a seamless marriage between techno beats and swooning cello parts since...well, this might just be a first." Since the release, the band has spent most of their time on the road performing to sold out crowds all over the country alongside artists such as Freelance Whales, Sea Wolf, and ON AN ON. Geographer is Mike Deni's distinct melodic vocals, dazed synth melodies and alluring guitar riffs, Nathan Blaz's haunting electric cello cords, and Brian Ostreicher's vibrant drums. TY SEGALL'S SLEEPER OUT AUGUST 20TH ON DRAG CITY
"LET YOUR HAIR GROW! BE WHAT YOU BE!"
TY SEGALL'S SLEEPER OUT AUGUST 20TH ON DRAG CITY
TAKE THE SLEEPER TOUR THIS AUGUST & SEPTEMBER
It was a dark and stormy north coast night. On the horizon was the shadow of the
Sleeper
, his technicolor presence stretched across the land for all of the black and white world soon to see!
The Ty Segall expedition gets farther and farther out with each and every record. And to every record, a tour - or three of four. For Ty, coming down off the Twins trip seemed like twice as far as it ever had been. He was a changed man, made different in the days between then and now, with more changes and big jumps dead ahead.
Earlier this year, before checking out of his SF Mission digs and heading down the coast for a new way of living, Ty fired up his machines, hit play and wrung a last helping of blood from his rock, creating a new set of songs.
Between two minds, between two places, on beyond Twins , Sleeper envisions a world of haves and have-nots. Sleeper is Ty-fi, for sure, engineered at home from beginning to end, the ultimate sonics accessed with a freak hand and an instinct for what makes a moment shine. Sleeper flows more colors than ever before through your mind's eye, pushing the walls of the universe out just a micron further, making everything heavier and lighter all at once, to allow time to beam infinitely forever.
But that was then - the date of revelation draws closer! Now can the true nature of Sleeper be seen! It stands before you, blending almost into the fleshly pattern of its host, brandished as if to say, "Let Your Hair Grow! Be What You Be!"
Ty Segall's Sleeper is out August 20th on Drag City. Catch the Sleeper tour this August and September. More dates will announced in the coming months.

METZ ANNOUNCE FALL EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

METZ ANNOUNCE FALL EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR "GET OFF" DIRECTED BY CHAD VANGAALEN

Since the Oct. 2102 release of their critically acclaimed debut album, the Toronto-based trio METZ have been touring very nearly non-stop, playing shows across North America and Europe. METZ, have announced that they will return to Europe in the fall for a headline tour starting in Luxembourg on November 1st and ending in Manchester, UK on Nov 22. See below for a full list of confirmed shows, including performances at Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee on July 13th in Seattle’s Georgetown Neighborhood (click here for a full lineup) as well as Festival performances at Sled Island (Calgary), Pitchfork (Chicago), Roskilde Festival (Denmark), OFF festival (Poland), Iceland Airwaves and many more. See below for a full list of Festival performances and your dates. In other METZ related news, today stereogum premiered a new video for album track “Get Off” which was directed by fellow Canadian and labelmate, Chad VanGaalen. Click here to transport to the surrealistic world of “Get Off”. What people are saying about METZ:
“In the past ten years, independent bands have inched back toward the musical aggression that was something of a default for the community in the late eighties and early nineties. METZ, a trio from Toronto, have fully revived this confrontational, skilled and energetic approach. The guitarist-vocalist Alex Edkins, the drummer Hayden Menzies, and the bassist Christ Slorach have made one of the year's best albums…” – The New Yorker "METZ songs tend to start with an isolated element–Hayden Menzies' thundering, hammer-of-the-gods drum salvos, Alex Edkins' solitary guitar screech–that immediately triggers a ticking time-bomb countdown for the moment when the band erupts in unison. You can see the storm coming from a mile away, and yet, when Menzies, Edkins, and bassist Chris Slorach launch into the merciless, firestorm battering of "Negative Space" or the wrecking-ball swing of "Knife in the Water,” it still startles like a sneak attack." - [8.5 / Best New Music] - Pitchfork "The Toronto noise-punk trio METZ, on the other hand, were wild-eyed and brutally focused. Playing maelstroms more than songs, they’re like a less unhinged Jesus Lizard, full of coiled ferocity that engulfs you, releases you briefly, then swallows you up again. This year’s Sub Pop debut only hints at their live intensity." ["CMJ's Most Talented 10"] - SPIN.com "They're pretty much a burst of musical brutality. And seeing them last night at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn was more than an affirmation of that. A trio from Toronto, they'll sit nicely next to your Melvins and Nirvana and maybe even Wire. In other words, their edge is more than attitude and volume and speed." ["CMJ Discoveries: Day 3"] - NPR's All Songs Considered Tour Dates:
