She has performed in festivals such as the New York Comedy Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the LA Riot Festival. She was just named by Splitsider as one of the Top 10 Up-And-Coming Comedians, has opened for Reggie Watts, and was named by Time Out New York as one of the “Three Comics to Watch” in 2012. Kate has recently been commissioned by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles to make work for their online channel and she runs a free weekly show at the Cake Shop in Manhattan.
In other news, Father John Misty recently delivered a post-apocalyptic, VHS-style (and humorous) new video for “Funtimes in Babylon”, the opening track from Fear Fun. The video was co-directed by FJM leader Josh Tillman with Grant James (“This Is Sally Hatchet”). Father John Misty also unveiled the new “Innocence” by Misty fragrance in collaboration with Sanae Intoxicants. Additionally, Father John Misty is on the cover of MAGNET’s June 2013 issue. Aritzia Magazine (the editorial offshoot of fashion retailer Aritzia) has just released their self-produced vignette featuring HAERTS’ latest song “All The Days.” Shot in Los Angeles, the clip recreates a typical southern California salsa dancehall and explores the partnerships and shared histories of the dancing couples. The choreography by Khalia Frazier and cinematography by Todd Banhazl enrich the lush, deliberate movements and seamlessly interconnect the music to create emotional visuals. The clip was directed byBridget Palardy and features clothing and styling by Aritzia. You can see it here http://bit.ly/haertsallthedays.
HAERTS is a band based in New York hailing from Germany, England, and the United States. The group consists of Nini Fabi, Ben Gebert, Garrett Ienner, Derek McWilliams, and Jonathan Schmidt. The band's first single, “Wings,” was produced in collaboration with Jean-Philip Grobler (aka St. Lucia). HAERTS' debut album is due in 2013.
Late last year, the band revealed their first song “Wings” and an unofficial video for the track HERE. In April, they collaborated with Emily Kai Bock for the gorgeous official“Wings” video. The band has shared their upcoming album live on tours with Shout Out Louds and Atlas Genius and will join Fitz And The Tantrums later this month.

“‘All The Days,’ produced by St. Lucia, roars and surges and twinkles, with lead singer Nini Fabi’s haunting vocal floating in and out under waves of ’80s instrumentation. You just have to hear it.” – Idolator

DISAPPEARS fall tour dates

DISAPPEARS
Five years into their existence as a band Disappears have finally exhaled – following a steady run of singles, EPs and three full lengths, the band retreated to their studio at the end of 2012 to take stock of where they had been and where they wanted to go.
Disappears returned fully stretched out into the void with 2013’s KONE EP. Abstract and experimental, it erased any expectation’s people had about what Disappears sounded like or were capable of, as well as introduced new drummer Noah Leger - a pivotal force in what was to follow.
Era, Disappears fourth album in as many years, was birthed during the bleakness of the Chicago winter 2013 at Electrical Audio by now regular foil John Congleton. Insular and dark, Era sees the band refining their love of dub, minimalism and repetition into their most original and stark set yet. Decision and consequence weigh heavy on the album – both lyrically and through the bands decision to let the studio direct the final forms of the songs. Click Here To Listen To New Single, "Power"
The band today released first single "Power" on their site, and have also announced a full co-headlining tour this fall with San Francisco-based shoegaze band Weekend. Era is Disappears at their most abrasive, contemplative and paranoid - it's the sound of the void looking back, and it arrives August 27th on Kranky Records.

"With tensions at its core, Pre Language fuses white light with the darkness of anxiety.” MOJO"A more advanced take on the muscular post-punk Disappears introduced on Lux, and overall there's an emphasis on clarity and precision instead of sheer volume. Disappears' interplay is seamless.” All Music Guide “Frontman Brian Case's vocals play out as echoed howls over a circular, sparse post-punk core, one which feels like it's barely keeping a torrent of motorik fury at bay. As the track closes, the dissonant noise rears up again, only this time its a controlled feedback-storm, eventually coming into its own as the other instruments fall out, leaving it hanging there, a quivering, metallic spectre. It's an incantatory, long-form cut, and one that promises big things.” The Quietus

Moderat
are
Apparat (Sascha Ring)
and
Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary)
. Both acts represent the best of the Berlin electronic music scene---embracing the groundbreaking sounds being cultivated by this raw melting pot of artists and sounds. Moderat is a shared vision and their new album,
II
is the joyful creation of what happens when you let three visionaries do their thing and learn from each other.Modeselektor are grand masters of subterranean bass and electrifying breakbeats. Apparat is the purveyor of sophisticated electronic pop music. The refusal to be satisfied with what is available forms the bond of an artistic friendship that has lasted more then a decade. The fact that their individual projects are so absorbing precluded the possibility of a continuous collaboration. As a result, in all this time, the trio has come together merely three times – but in decisive phases of their careers. The first time was at the beginning of 2003 when they created the “Auf Kosten der Gesundheit” EP. Then, in 2008 after garnering international acclaim for their own respective albums, they returned to the studio for their first album and defined the Moderat sound. Throbbing bass and tricky beats on the one hand, Apparat’s delicate vocals on the other.Five years have passed and all three find themselves in a new situation: they assume new responsibilities as bandleader (Apparat) and as label makers and dads (Modeselektor). The spectrum is an emotional one, and one that has increased stylistically. There is no longer a prevailing tone.In the space of eleven tracks, Moderat presents a very varied but nonetheless compact and epic tale with
II
. Its first single, “Bad Kingdom,” will be released digitally and as a 10” through http://moderat.fm.category/store on July 9th, It is perhaps the most universal song that Apparat and Modeselektor have ever produced: a pop song full of passion and energy, lacking contradiction and speaking a universal language.Watch its video, directed by Pfadfinderei, below. It is set in and around London in the year 1966 and features a descendant of the English aristocracy who turns from being an ambitious young man into a ruthless power broker.WATCH MODERAT’S “BAD KINGDOM” VIDEO (Directed by PFADFINDEREI) The creative process for two stylistically-varying yet harmonious acts is not a science; rather than entering the studio with a master plan, the trio have set sail and combined ingredients with a true pursuit to develop and create something completely by chance. To represent their freedom to morph and mutate, Moderat shares visualized analogies in a series of small Dadaistic experiments. Those experiments will be realized with the help of skilled scientists, specialists and DDB Tribal Berlin and will be publicly displayed at Platoon Kunsthalle in Berlin. GLASVEGAS - NEW ALBUM

GLASVEGAS - NEW ALBUM'LATER...WHEN THE TV TURNS TO STATIC'IN-STORES IN THE U.S. SEPTEMBER 3rd
June 26, 2013 - New York, NY - Glasvegas is back with 'Later...When The TV Turns To Static' , due out in the U.S. on September 3rd via their own Go Wow Records in partnership with BMG.
'Later...When The TV Turns To Static' is the third studio album by Glasvegas and is the next stunning chapter from one of the UK's most unique bands. Written and self-produced by lead vocalist and songwriter James Allan, this ten track, 45 minute sojourn of heartfelt melancholia and broken relationships is set against a backdrop of scorching soundscapes that lift the soul into heights of abandoned euphoria. There is no doubt! Glasvegas have come home; turned their eyes from the blinding light back into the shadows, where reality lies.
James Allan, Glasvegas song-writer, guitarist, vocalist, frontman, beloved people's poet (and profound Glaswegian), produced 'Later...When The TV Turns To Static' in Glasgow's state-of-the-art Gorbals Studio using a vintage sound desk once owned by Decca Records (and the actual desk Pavarotti's definitive Nessun Dorma was recorded on).
The first single from the album is "If," a pealing, poetic discourse on life's cruel dichotomies. ('If not for fear, hope is nowhere near.') "If" will be released digitally in the U.S. on July 9th. James Allan states "My idea for the song came about during a phone call a while back with my good friend Alan McGee. He was talking to me about something quite difficult that was going on at the time and I said to him, 'Alan, if we didn't go through the bad stuff, we wouldn't recognize the good stuff; it would be invisible to you."
Click here for a first listen to the radio edit of "If" and see below for the embed code. The album will be available for pre-order via the band's website. www.glasvegas.net
Glasvegas is: James Allan (Vocals, Guitar), Rab Allan (Guitar), Paul Donoghue (Bass), Jonna Löffgren (Drums)
Stay tuned for U.S. touring info.

MARK LANEGAN SIGNS TO VAGRANT NEW ALBUM IMITATIONS

NEW ALBUM IMITATIONS DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 17
“I’m Not The Loving Kind” Debuts Today
(June 26, 2013) – Vagrant Records is proud to announce that MARK LANEGAN will be releasing his new covers album, IMITATIONS , on September 17, 2013 on the label. Lanegan made the following comments on the new album:
“When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favorites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations.”
Today fans can listen to the first track off the album, Mark’s take on “I’m Not The Loving Kind” at http://soundcloud.com/marklanegan/im-not-the-loving-kind . The twelve-track album was recorded earlier this year and follows his 2012 release, Blues Funeral. Pre-order details for Imitations will be announced shortly.

MGMT SET TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED ALBUM ON SEPTEMBER 17

MGMT SET TO RELEASESELF-TITLED ALBUM ON SEPTEMBER 17
MGMT are back with their self-titled third studio album - MGMT - set to be released on September 17. The successor to 2008’s Oracular Spectacular and 2010’sCongratulations, MGMT finds Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser continuing to push themselves to expand the boundaries of modern pop music. Returning to Tarbox Road Studios to work with longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann (Co-producer and mixer of Oracular Spectacular and Congratulations, The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala), Andrew and Ben experimented with various in-studio writing processes, allowing the music to tell them where it wanted to go. The result is a diverse and powerful collection of 10 songs (including a cover of "Introspection" by 1960’s psych band Faine Jade) that directly mirrors the duo's encompassing surrealist view of the everyday (see below for full track listing). The world was given a taste of MGMT in April with the Record Store Day release (on limited edition cassette single) of album opener "Alien Days", hailed as an instant MGMT classic by fans and described by Rolling Stone as a “shimmering, psychedelic soundscape” and Spin as “a sumptuously detailed, exquisitely zonked-out space-rock construction.”
In preparation for the highly anticipated release of MGMT , the band have begun assembling a variety of unique visual elements to accompany and illuminate the new music via "the Optimizer". Produced by MGMT live show video instrumentalist Alejandro Crawford, "the Optimizer" provides listeners of the album with a simultaneously aural & optical listening experience featuring video & CGI work by Andrew Benson, Emilio Gomariz, Geoffrey Lillemon, and Chris Timms. "the Optimizer" is part of an enhanced album package available on all commercial formats.
“Your Life Is A Lie” will be the first music video released and finds MGMT again working with Tom Kuntz, director of the band's 2010 mini-epic “Congratulations” who has also received wide acclaim for his groundbreaking commercial and short film work. Up-and-coming indie director Sam Fleischner will be creating a clip for "Alien Days", and a video for the serpentine "Cool Song No. 2" is also in the works, both to be shot this summer.
MGMT are currently on tour, recently performing to their largest headline audience in the U.S. with over 10,000 people in attendance at Artpark in Lewiston, NY. MGMT are set to play select North American festivals and club dates including headlining the Bunbury Festival in Cincinnati (July 13), First City Festival in Monterey, CA (August 24), FYF Festival in Los Angeles (August 25) and Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle (Sept. 2). In the fall MGMT will commence a tour of Europe with stops in Glasgow, Cologne, Berlin, Paris and more. The band's first show at the Forum in London sold out immediately - see below for full list of tour dates. US Tour Dates for November-December will be announced next month.
