"Some bands play chords, but the so-far-unstoppable Warlocks play clouds -- songs that swirl around you like smoke and probably leave a little haze in your head, too." - LA WEEKLY
The Warlocks release their first new album in 5 years, Skull Worship on November 26, 2013 through Zap Banana.
Recorded over a 2 year period, Skull Worship is the Los Angeles-based band’s eighth album. The Warlocks construct a dense, more elaborate web of sound, layers of distortion and the occasional synth a la Silver Apples and Red Crayola. “Silver & Plastic” expands the band’s oeuvre into acoustic territory recalling T Rex. Other songs like “Endless Drops” turn to Hawkwind, Neu! and experimental rock for inspiration.“Not everything fits perfectly on this record,” describes singer Bobby Hecksher. “There are loose parts, fragmented sections and then it rocks all together. It's not perfectly polished like a lot of records out there. More like an expression of moments in time that drip together like a strange dream.”
Bobby continues, “I consider Skull Worship the final musical piece of the trilogy which started with Heavy Deavy Skull Lover , then The Mirror Explodes and now Skull Worship. They are all suppose to be connected with similar cord changes and fragmented weirdness.”
Skull Worship Tracklisting: 1. Dead Generation2. Chameleon3. Endless Drops4. Silver & Plastic5. He Looks Good in Space6. You’ve Changed7. It’s A Hard Fall8. Eyes Jam
THE WARLOCKS: Bobby Hecksher: Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards & Bass

Sub Pop Signs Lyla Foy (formerly WALL) + Listen to "Easy"

Releases “Easy” / “Head Down” Single, Shares UK Tour Dates
“Easy” / “Head Down” Available November 18th UK-Only 7” Single, Digitally Worldwide
Debut Album for Sub Pop in 2014
Sub Pop is pleased to welcome London’s Lyla Foy (formerly WALL) to the label, where she will release her debut album in 2014. Preceding the release will be the “Easy”/ “Head Down” single, available as a UK-only 7” single and digitally worldwide via Sub Pop. The single premiered earlier today with The Guardian, who calls the song, "The perfect soundtrack to the impending winter chill (see track premiere October 30th).” Please find tracklisting details below.
You may have heard of Lyla Foy, under the WALL moniker, through her wonderfully received EPs and singles for independent labels Big Picnic and Black Cab Sessions. In the UK she’s received airplay from the likes of BBC 1 via Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe, and BBC 2 via Steve Lamacq. Foy has also been covered by the likes of Interview, Pitchfork, Vogue, i-D, Wonderland, Clash, Glamour, and The Line Of Best Fit.
Lyla Foy has scheduled a few UK shows to mention at this time: November 9th in Oxford at the Cellar; November 24th in Edinburgh at Electric Circus; November 25th in Manchester at Band On The Wall; November 26th at Union Chapel; And December 10th at The Lexington. Please find a full list updated tour dates below.
About Lyla Foy (Formerly WALL): The London singer and producer specializes in intimate vocals effortlessly intertwined with delicate, emotive instrumentation. The production is an integral part of her writing process, capturing not only the intended notes but also the incidental and accidental sounds that bring the recordings to life and provide endless intrigue. While the patter of keyboards, guitars and pulsing bass lines create a beguiling backdrop, it's Foy's sense of melody and turn of phrase that takes centre stage. Subtle nods to classic refrains, mingled with her own inflection, suggest a writer who draws from many different eras, resulting in a sound that is both timeless yet modern.

SACRED BONES CELEBRATES 100 RELEASES WITH LOST LP FROM NYC POST-PUNKS THE HUNT
STREAM A TRACK VIA
Sacred Bones Records is proud to be celebrating 100 releases by unveiling the lost LP from The Hunt,The Hunt Begins. The first ever release on Sacred Bones was a 7" from The Hunt. The band was formed by Jasper McGandy & Christian Kount (both now members of Cult of Youth) in 2007. They crafted a unique style of post-punk influenced by The Southern Death Cult and New Model Army. The artwork for their first release depicted an androgynous wild banshee wearing warpaint, clad all in leather and animal bones, holding a sacrificial knife pointed at the sky. This debut single was The Hunt’s lone statement. The Hunt played tons of shows including some of the first Wierd Records parties at Home Sweet Home in NYC, they did a few short tours and in then 2009 after multiple tumultuous attempts at recording a full length The Hunt decamped to their collective hometown, Boston, to record the ultimate document of their time on earth. Buses begat buses, couches begat couches, and slowly the songs began to come together as they should have all these passing years. On the edge of perfection their time was cut short and they disbanded. Leaving this document shelved for years. Now, four years after it was recorded & shelved, The Hunt Begins will finally see the light of day in honor of both the first and one hundredth release on Sacred Bones Records, we will finally see and hear the toils of New York’s most enigmatic post punk band of recent.
The Hunt will play one final show in celebration of the release of "The Hunt Begins" on November 20th at Home Sweet Home in NYC for the Nothing Changes party.

Celebrated Denver based husband and wife duo Tennis return with Small Sound , a new EP out November 5.Pitchfork has premiered an exclusive stream of the EP that can be heard HERE. Tennis will be the headline act on the November run of Communion’s monthly club night series in nine cities with additional performances in several markets including Chicago, Toronto and their beloved Denver. The band will kick off their run of dates with a November 3 performance at the “School Night” show at Brooklyn Bowl. Small Sound follows their much lauded previous full length efforts, 2011’s Cape Dory and 2012’s Young and Old. Four of the tracks were produced by Richard Swift (Foxygen, The Shins, The Mynabirds) with the fifth track “Cured of Youth” produced by Jim Eno (Spoon, Polica, Gayngs). The band inked a new deal with Communion Records and will return to the studio to work on new music for a Spring 2014 full length album. Small Sound will be made available as a limited 10” vinyl release, as well as CD and digital formats—all of which can be purchased via pre-order directly from the band’s website, www.tennis-music.com. Tennis was born Aliana Moore and Patrick Riley’s nearly seven-month sailing trip. Upon returning home, the duo began writing music together as a way to document the history of their shared experience. The result was Cape Dory, an intimate and concise recollection of life on a 30-foot sloop. Moore and Riley followed Cape Dory with Young and Old, which The New York Times called “striking indie-pop” and The New Yorker described as “winsome as it is ebullient.” The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseeker Chart, #1 on CMJ Top 200, where it remained for three weeks in a row and debuted on Soundscan’s “New Artist Chart” at #1, remaining there for nine consecutive weeks. Black Lips release Middle East tour film
BLACK LIPS TO RELEASE KIDS LIKE YOU & ME, A MIDDLE EAST TOUR FILM
ANNOUNCE FILM SCREENINGS AND LIVE TOURIn 2009, The Black Lips started investigating the possibility of a bridge building tour of the Middle East with stops throughout the region. After two years of planning, several uprisings, a civil war, the tour finally came to fruition in the fall of 2012. It wasn't easy either. Promoters in Jordan and Alexandria, Egypt backed out at the last minute because the band had played shows in Israel and a show in Erbil, Iraq had to be changed when an explicit video of the band was viewed by a government official. Suprisingly, It all worked out in the end though and the shows in Alexandria and Erbil turned out to be highlights of the tour. Kids Like You & Me: A Middle East Tour Film documents this journey through one of the most exciting regions in the world including three groundbreaking stops in Egypt. (The last known American rock band to play Egypt being The Grateful Dead in 1978!) Get on the bus with The Black Lips and their good friends, Lebanese indie rockers, Lazzy Lung. See the people of the Middle East the way they really are. Shopkeepers and restaurant owners. Skaters, graffiti artists and musicians. Revolutionaries and dreamers. Kids like you and me. You'll never look at the Middle East the same way after seeing this film.
The premiered the screening on October 27th.
