Black Hearted Brother's Stars Are Our Home Out Now

Black Hearted Brother's Stars Are Our Home Out Now On Slumberland Records Under The Radar Premieres Stars Are Our Home Album Trailer       Band features Slowdive's Neil Halstead, Seefeel's Mark Van Hoen  & Nick Holton of Holton's Opulent Oog
Watch: Stars Are Our Home Album Trailer at Under The Radar Listen: Stars Are Our Home via New York Times Press Play
"Black Hearted Brother make some glorious noise" - SPIN   Black Hearted Brother's much anticipated debut album Stars Are Our Home is out now onSlumberland Records. Black Hearted Brother is the new project of Neil Halstead, Mark Van Hoen, and Nick Holton. The New York Times is streaming Stars Are Our Home in full and Under The Radar just premiered an album trailer where the band introduce themselves to fans. Magnet said, "The LP has plenty of space-rock elements, but it's also able to merge order with chaos to drench the listener in an awesome sonic experience" while PopMatters added, "Take members of Slowdive,Mojave 3, and Locust, mix 'em together, and you get the space-rock album of the year."
A brave, beautiful yet experimental album, Stars Are Our Home boasts the craftsmanship of Halstead, Van Hoen, and Holton's impressive resumes: Neil Halstead, previously an influential member ofSlowdive and Mojave 3Mark Van Hoen, an original member of Seefeel, subsequently working solo and as Locust; and Nick Holton, the main mover behind Holton's Opulent Oog, and member ofColey Park, who have released albums on Halstead's Shady Lane label. They had also previously worked together on Halstead's 2001 solo albumSleeping On Roads, though Van Hoen also co-produced Mojave 3's Out Of Tune (1998), Excuses For Travellers (2000) and Spoon & Rafter (2003), while Holton took up production duties for Halstead's Palindrome Hunches (2012). Van Hoen and Halstead go back much further still, to 1992, when they were in Seefeel and Slowdive respectively.

Stars Are Our Home mirrors the similar experimental nature of Halstead's previous work - he describes the album as, "a lot of very long and indulgent space rawk." The space-rock elements of the album are obvious in the album's opening title track, but Halstead says there's more to it: "The idea was to just make a record that was in some ways 'unedited.' To not worry about a particular sound or style, but to just go with the flow. We all make quite focused records individually so, as Mark says, it's our 'guilty pleasures' album."A record that beautifully merges "order" and "chaos", Stars Are Our Home is full of unexpected twists and turns that drench the listener in noise and then flip back to acoustic melody, and offers surprises with lyrics that sometimes reference romance and other times UFO abduction. Although unexpected and surprising, the experimental nature of the album never forgets the importance of pop with tracks like, "Take Heart," "I'm Back," and the closing track, "Look Back Here They Come."Black Hearted Brother will announce U.S. tour dates in support of Stars Are Our Home in the coming weeks.   For more info, please visit:

Anoushka Shankar Releases New Album "Traces of You"

Anoushka Shankar’s New Album Traces of YouReleased Today On Deutsche Grammophon

Listen + Share  “The Sun Won’t Set (Feat. Norah Jones)”

Listen  to Anoushka’s Interview with NPR’s All Things Considered

Out today, Anoushka Shankar’s album Traces of You (Deutsche Grammophon) marks a significant step along her pathway as a musician and woman. The musical exploration on Traces of You was inspired by the idea that everything in the universe leaves an indelible mark, or a subtle “trace,” on everything else it comes into contact with.

Last week  Rolling Stone  debuted the dreamy track “The Sun Won’t Set” which she recorded with her half-sister Norah Jones. You can listen to it HERE.

In addition,  the Wall Street Journal  premiered the song “Unsaid”, another Jones/Shankar collaboration from the new album, which can be heard HERE.

Having lost her legendary father, Ravi Shankar, during the recording process of Traces of You, it was inevitable that her loss became the central focus of the song writing. However, the record is ultimately hopeful rather than mournful; a juxtaposition of the sorrow surrounding the loss of her father alongside the joy of raising her young son, Zubin.

“I approached the album as a whole,” she explains, “as opposed to a series of songs. A lot of it happened unconsciously. Life took a journey of its own and the music followed that form. The sitar leads the listener through the album like a narrator.”

Among various accolades she has been nominated for three Grammy® Awards, making her the first Indian female and youngest-ever nominee in the World Music category. As a classical sitarist she debuted professionally at the age of thirteen and has performed in prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall (over a dozen times), and championed her father’s orchestral works with the world’s leading orchestras. Shankar will be embarking on a U.S. tour kicking off November 7th in Birmingham, AL (dates below).

Beach Day's Cover Of "Dracula's Daughter"

Rolling Stone Premieres Beach Day's Cover Of "Dracula's DaughterWinter Tour Dates With The Thermals AnnouncedDebut Album Trip Trap Attack Out Now On Kanine Records    Listen: "Dracula's Daughter" via Rolling Stone or SoundCloud
Rolling Stone  has premiered Beach Day's cover of "Dracula's Daughter." The song was originally recorded in 1964 by  Screaming Lord Sutch , and written by Alan Zeffert & Tony Day. Beach Day recorded the song in North Miami with Kramer (Galaxie 500Low) and had it mixed by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Dirtbombs, Sonics). Beach Day's Kimmy Drake told Rolling Stone, "I wanted to record a Halloween song but didn't want to do something too obvious." She added, "Our drummer is mildly obsessed with horror garage music icon Screaming Lord Sutch, and when I found footage of Joe Meek and Sutch actually recording 'Dracula's Daughter,' we both became enthralled with the idea of covering the song."     Earlier this summer, Beach Day released their debut album "Trip Trap Attack" on Kanine Records.Spin Magazine said "Stay" had "Tight, ragged riffs with swoon-worthy vocals that would make Joey Ramone weak in the knees," while Filter Magazine described "Walking on the Streets" as "Nearly four minutes of gorgeous surf and garage rock, complete with tambourine bashing, sentimental keys, jangly guitar, and rich vocals all about lust and longing. It captures the sincerity of the '60s, while ringing ever so true today."
Beach Day just had a successful run at New York's CMJ Music Marathon and are heading to Detroit to start recording their sophomore album with Jim Diamond. The band will end the year back in Florida on a tour with The Thermals. All dates below.

SAY LOU LOU RELEASE 'BETTER IN THE DARK' ON COLUMBIA

SAY LOU LOU RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE ON COLUMBIA RECORDS
‘BETTER IN THE DARK’ RELEASED 16TH DECEMBER 2013LISTEN HERE:
FOALS TOUR SUPPORT AND HEADLINE LONDON SHOWDEBUT ALBUM TO FOLLOW IN 2014
After releasing the quietly devastating tracks "Maybe You" and “Julian” the deliciously melancholicSay Lou Lou release their debut single on Columbia Records, ‘Better In The Dark’, on 16thDecember. ‘Better in the Dark’ comes as a double A-side accompanied with a stunning b-side ‘Beloved’.
Say Lou Lou are 21 year old Swedish/Australian twin sisters Miranda and Elektra Kilbey and they are currently finishing off their self-written debut album which has been recorded in London, Sweden and Los Angeles. The album will be released early in 2014.
Self created and self imagined, Say Lou Lou have come to worldwide attention since their formation just eighteen months ago with the two fantastic songs and their attendant B-sides. NME said of “Maybe You, ‘On their haunting first single Miranda and Elektra cut deep with a wounded despondent ballad that takes pop’s penchant for the superficial and drowns it in a sea of sorrows’ whilst The Sunday Times called them ‘a red hot tip’. Meanwhile in the US they have been shot by  Interview Magazine and V Magazine so far. Released earlier this year as a b-side on the vinyl release to "Julian," another stunning track "Fool of Me" (recorded with Chet Faker) has been highlighted on Pitchfork, Idolator and MTV Buzzworthy as a potential breakout song for the duo.
In addition to the singles the band have created incredible imagery for each track with two videos by  director Philippe Tempelman which have already chalked up nearly one million views in the past few months. As well as their own headline dates in the UK, Say Lou Lou have toured Europe and shared stages with the likes of Twin Shadow, Kindness, Ariel Pink and HURTS.
Say Lou Lou embarked on their most recent European tour this month, in support of Foals, and return with their own headline show in London at Concrete on 13th November 2013.Tickets for their London show are available at Better in the Dark is available as a bundle from 25th November on iTunes at
