The Growlers "Gilded Pleasures"

Out November 12th, 2013 on Everloving Records,
The Growlers Gilded Pleasures!

by Mookie Stevers at Waversons Magazine
The Growlers new EP Gilded Pleasures is a sweet new little brother to Hung at Heart that is fresh, plump and ready to slap. "We are still confused on what the point of releasing little increments of music at a time is worth. If we had it our way we would be doing a full length album every couple of months," says Nielsen. And so again with little time and a lot of ideas, The Growlers have put together 9 songs whittled down from 13 in under two weeks. "Writing songs comes easy, our love for creating is never-ending, its the guidelines that create difficulties." The album titled Gilded Pleasures has an R&B makin' out on mushrooms feel that accompanies their previous release perfectly.
It was recorded and co-produced at an old pump house in Topanga Canyon by Kyle Mullarkey and The Growlers. Mullarkey has been an influence and big brother to them from the beginning, especially his work with The Grand Elegance and the Abigails. Two bands that had helped prepare Mullarkey for confined corners with the infamous Big Kids Los Growlers.
When asked why the name Gilded Pleasures? "We made simple songs with a little soul for our satisfaction, then we brought them into the studio and covered them with reverb and ribbons of tape for our fans listening pleasure. This record is simple and soulful and reminds me a lot of the early Growlers that a lot of our new fans never got the chance to hear," said Nielsen.

Wet releases debut video

WET SHARES "YOU'RE THE BEST VIDEO" VIA ANNOUNCES NYC SHOWS Yesterday, Wet rolled out their debut music video for "You're The Best" directed by long time friend. It tells a tale of the place that started it all. New York City.
Kelly Zutrau, Martin Sulkow and Joe Valle have been making music together in various outfits since meeting as students in New York in 2006. What began as a long-distance collaboration between Providence, New York, and Los Angeles led to string of shows and self-releases in the summer of 2012. A year later, and they've already managed to find the delicate balance between slow-motion R&B and minimal indie pop. Pooling all their influences, Wet touch upon everyone from Solange to The XX to Patsy Cline, while still conveying a blissful simplicity that tugs at your heartstrings and forces you to hang onto their every waking word. Their self-titled debut EP is out now on .

LA’s Soft Metals formed in 2009 after Ian Hicks and Patricia Hall met at a DJ night and connected over their obsession with analog synthesizers and the shadowy, sultry, untamed expressions of underground electronic music.  Their early collaborations paired Patricia's delicate vocals and introspective lyrics with Ian's solo sketches.  Soon they moved on to writing music together, building songs from wild, improvised sessions in Ian's home studio.   Their genre blurring brand of voltaic pop draws inspiration from a spectrum a sources including krautrock, synth wave, and techno.  They've won over audiences in situations as varied as experimental noise shows in dingy basements, to sleek, modern nightclubs, to clandestine after hours warehouse parties, to dimly lit dives where post punk and synthpop records fuel the dance floor.

Brooklyn's KNTRLR Debut New Track "CCA"

KNTRLR Debut New Track “CCA”

Listen + Share  “CCA” Now

“A roller coaster ride from New Wave and DEVO-fueled electronic tones to Ramstein-esque growls” – Baeble Music

KNTRLR originally started as an outlet for bastard songs. Michael Henry and Charles Davis have played for 10+ years in indie rock bands, but when they realized they were more interested in electronic music and rap, KNTRLR was born. KNTRLR may be an electronic production duo, but it contains the kinetic energy that can only come from humans beating on instruments. Live they play with friends they know from the NY music scene who help fill out the sound and provide an energy you can't get with samples streaming out of a laptop.

KNTRLR “is”: Blown out electronic samples; Sweaty dancefloors at airport Marriotts; Tom Waits; Dudes in their 30s; David Lee Roth; Chicago juke music; Cheap frozen drinks; Death Grips if they worked in Manhattan’s Panini District; Musical instruments from Radioshack; Music blasted into the howling emptiness of space.

KNTRLR are: Charles Davis grew up in LA and experienced success at a young age with appearances on popular early-90’s programs like “Wild Animal Games with Ryan Seacrest”, as well as a random smatter- ing of made-for-TV movies. Quickly disenchanted with acting, he refocused his creative energy on music and learned to play the drums. Again, early success - it wasn’t long before he was opening for 80’s new wave one-hit wonders Missing Persons and holding psychedelic greenroom philosophy salons with Rick James. Michael Henry, on the other hand, had a strict Christian upbringing in Oklahoma and was groomed for Seminary School until he abandoned the road of righteousness.

For a taste of KNTRLR’s eclectic sound, listen now to the frenetic aggression on the new track “CCA”, courtesy of its premiere on Baeble Music. You can also share the trackHERE.

For those on the east coast, the band also has some upcoming shows this fall in Philadelphia, New Jersey and their home turf of Brooklyn; head below for more show details. Currently on Goodnight Records, the band will be releasing their debut LP in the late winter/early spring of 2014.

Tour Dates
10/29 - Cameo Gallery – Brooklyn, NY
11/5 - JR's – Philadelphia, PA
11/8 - Clash Bar - Clifton NJ
