Early love for their newest single, "Big Toe"
-
"On "Big Toe," the band picks up where their nine-song Gilded Pleasures EP left off in November, delivering another trademark nugget of salt-water psychedelia, entrancing listeners with a compelling groove as singer Brooks Nielsen croons atop with slacker swagger.” SPIN
“After a few years of seemingly constant recording and touring, they’ve refined their sound into a poppy, retro-leaning style that they call “beach goth,” a combination of chiming, reverb-drenched guitars, snappy drums, and frontman Brooks Nielsen’s languid vocals, which suggest a guy who never takes his shades off, even indoors.” Entertainment Weekly
"'Big Toe' fuses their surf rock roots with a gritty rockabilly vibe. If it's any indicator, Chinese Fountain is sure to be an album loaded with post-punk charm.” Under The Radar
“...just perfect for these days where you start realizing that the recently ditched bitching about cold weather is about to switch over to humidity rants.” CMJ
"The beach drifting sound of The Growlers only continues to get bigger, the chops are tighter, and production is cleaner.” IMPOSE
"It's still got the SoCal, so-gonna-take-my-time-with-this approach to psychedelia. But where the edge of their previous material started and stopped in the fuzz of the guitars, "Big Toe"extends a mean tongue to the lyrical content.” Indie Shuffle
"If you don’t listen to what The Growlers are saying on “Big Toe,” their first released track off of Chinese Fountain, the jangle-y tune sounds absolutely delightful. If you do happen to catch what they’re crooning, the straight-from-the-gutter lyrics put the listener into both a strangely pleasant and unsettled equilibrium—a place usually reserved for tunes by The Magnetic Fields and Belle & Sebastian.” Anthemic

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour Third Album 'Bring Us Together'

Announce Third Studio Album, Bring Us Together,
Out September 16th via Hot Bus/Rough Trade
Listen + Share: First Single “My Club”

Danish pop powerhouse The Asteroids Galaxy Tour , consisting of Lars Iversen &Mette Lindberg, have recently announced the release of their highly anticipated third studio album, Bring Us Together - set to drop September 16th via Hot Bus/Rough Trade! Having won audiences across the world over with their unique brand of deliciously fun & edgy pop, the Copenhagen duo will deliver eager fans & new listeners alike ten tracks of pure audio bliss.
Bring Us Together first single “My Club” is an instantly catchy pop masterpiece with a psychedelic vibe punctuated by pulsing club beats. Biting lyrics like “tonight, I’ll be the bullet in your gun” are laid atop smooth, melodic horn samples & killer percussion. For a taste of what to expect from the upcoming record, you can give “My Club” a spin HERE where it’s available to post & share!
Heavily inspired by the two years of non-stop promotional & touring madness (and subsequent sense of isolation) following their previous album, Bring Us Together finds the duo’s desire to explore new musical avenues greater than ever before. As Iversen elaborates, “We wanted to create a heavier and slightly darker atmosphere for this album. The sound is more processed, and less “manual” than before- with more weighting on repetitive beats, bass grooves, chopped-up loops, and a more laidback vocal style.” The result is a sound collage & pop symphony created from equal parts of chopped-up danceable beats, spaced-out synths & bright neon green pop hooks.
Immersed within the Copenhagen music scene, producer & multi-instrumentalist Iversen met Lindberg in 2007. The two would go on to record a debut EP (Around The Bend) & two studio albums, 2009’s Fruit & 2012’s follow-up Out of Frequency. They’ve quickly become one of Denmark’s most prominent musical success stories, selling out venues around the globe & acquiring fans worldwide in the process.
Stay tuned for more news from The Asteroids Galaxy Tour coming soon!

Formed in Brighton in 2011,The Wytches comprises Kristian Bell (vocals, guitar), Dan Rumsey (bass, vocals) and Gianni Honey (drums). Led by Bell's luminous lyricism, feral delivery and overdriven, surf-like guitar bends, the trio create a sound that is at once raucous and unruly, and yet decorated with semi-automatic poetry and authentic emotional clout.
Having left Peterborough after feeling stifled by their hometown's inward-looking hardcore scene, Bell and the semi-professional poker playing Honey relocated to Brighton in the autumn of 2011, applying to the city's university before enlisting Bournemouth-raised, aspiring adventure novelist Rumsey on bass - the sole applicant of an advert placed on campus. From the outset promoting their own shows in the city, The Wytches have never lost the DIY spirit of their hardcore origins: arranging their own tours; printing flyers; pressing their first single, "Digsaw;" inviting friend of the band Samuel Gull to create their artwork; and producing their own videos - all in spite of squeezed funds.
It is this relentlessness and resilience that has led to The Wytches headlining countless shows across the UK and Europe to date, acting as chief support to Blood Red Shoes, The Cribs, Drenge, METZ, Japandroids, amongst others. In 2013 the band released a number of singles and EPs on London's Hate Hate Hate Records ("Beehive Queen," Thunder Lizard Revisited EP, "Robe for Juda"), before attracting the attention of Heavenly Recordings in the UK and Partisan Records in the USA, who will release their debut album, Annabel Dream Reader, on August 25 (UK) / August 26 (US).
Recorded at Liam Watson's 8-track analogue ToeRag Studios in Hackney, Annabel Dream Reader was tracked in two days under the supervision of producer Bill Ryder-Jones (ex-The Coral). Comprising thirteen songs, Annabel Dream Reader sees the three-piece accomplish a dark and heady sound that embraces the black arts and the more extreme limits of rock, but which is never prescriptively macabre. Far from it, the band displays a broadness of influences - all at once the songs reference surf, grunge, metalcore, spy movie scores.
Bell admits to being inspired more by singer-songwriters (Elliott Smith, Leonard Cohen, Roland S. Howard) than specific bands, and already he is an assured manipulator of his tools, combining Egyptianesque harmonic-minor scales with vivid, assonant wordplay, and utilising his voice as an instrument in its own right. Recording to rolling magnetic tape at ToeRag - with little room for error - lends an honesty and immediacy to the trio's performances, while Ryder-Jones supplies the softer songs with flourishes of organ, and allows the self-confessed 'obnoxiously heavy' sections to detonate freely.
Not ones to rest on their laurels, The Wytches admit a strong desire to erase and 'switch up' their sound with each album - plans are already afoot for a more intricate, more instrumentally diverse second record. Returning from Austin's SXSW Festival on a wave of praise from the likes of The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, FUSE, SPIN and Flavorwire, the band have continued touring extensively throughout 2014 - taking in the UK, Europe and the USA - while promoting Annabel Dream Reader and untethering a slew of singles beginning with a limited edition cassette, 'Gravedweller," their first for Partisan. In July The Wytches ventured back to North America to tour with Cloud Nothings and METZ. The last single, 'Wire Frame Mattress', was released on 7th July by Partisan on limited 7", with brilliantly idiosyncratic cover art by Samuel Gull and an eery, unhinged video directed by legendary rock photographer Steve Gullick.

My Brightest Diamond's new EP out today
MY BRIGHTEST DIAMOND’S NEW EP OUT TODAY, MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERES
FULL-LENGTH ALBUM THIS IS MY HAND OUT SEPTEMBER 16 ON ASTHMATIC KITTY RECORDS
TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
“Along with her often-gorgeous singing, Ms. Worden presents an ambitious series of arrangements…the songs glow with rumination…”—The New York Times
My Brightest Diamond’s new EP, None More Than You , is out today on Asthmatic Kitty Records and can now be heard in full exclusively at Consequence of Sound . Already receiving widespread acclaim, The New York Times praises, “Shara Worden, the operatically trained singer at the core of My Brightest Diamond, has a feeling for both the grandeur and the grain, building every sweeping gesture in her music out of a swarm of small details,” while Consequence of Sound asserts, “…the music is as always funneled into the ambitious, layered arrangements of My Brightest Diamond.” Additionally, a new live music video of “Dreaming Awake” can be viewed here. Produced by Mason Jar Music, the video was filmed at Glenwood Power Station in Yonkers, NY and chronicles the band’s run-in with local police.
Following the EP release, Worden’s forthcoming full-length album, This is My Hand , will be released September 16 on Asthmatic Kitty Records (pre-order). The album features ten new songs, including the first single “Pressure,” which recently premiered at NPR Music and can now be heard/shared here. Of the song, NPR Music praises, “…a stirring song powered by an incredible drumline…one of the most powerful and dramatic voices of the past decade,” while Stereogum proclaims, “…‘Pressure’ is something to be reckoned with. Filled with an army of percussive sounds from big drums to twinkling bells along with shrieking brass and crushing synths, it’s a huge production, but it all sounds small compared to Worden’s operatic voice.”
In celebration of the releases, Worden will embark on a worldwide tour this fall, including dates at New York’s Bowery Ballroom and L.A.’s The Roxy as well as an appearance at the 2014 Austin City Limits Music Festival. See below for details.
This Is My Hand was recorded in Berlin, New York, L.A. and Worden’s re-adopted hometown of Detroit with producer Zac Rae. Of her inspiration behind the album, Worden comments, “The genesis of the new album was looking at the changes that have happened in music over my career, and trying to reevaluate what it meant to me in the first place: ‘what is the value of music’ is essentially the question. In the States, the marching band is something that is done in school, so it still represents something inclusive, something that anyone can learn. I loved the communal quality and the way that drums and horns travel in large three-dimensional spaces.”
Since debuting as My Brightest Diamond in 2006, Worden has released three full-length albums, including her most recent, 2011’s All Things Will Unwind. Of the album, The New York Times praises, “…she has a keen sense of the dramatic, and a sure understanding of dynamics,” while allmusic asserts, “All Things Will Unwind finds this musical auteur at the top of her game, maturing, pushing her already broad boundaries, and brimming with imagination.”In addition to her work as My Brightest Diamond, Worden has collaborated and performed with various musicians, artists and filmmakers, including Matthew Barney, Sufjan Stevens, Bryce and Aaron Dressner (The National), The Decemberists, Bon Iver, David Byrne, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Laurie Anderson, Matthew Ritchie, Murat Eyuboglu, Brooklyn Rider and yMusic, among others.

Zola Jesus has revealed more details, including cover art and tracklisting for her forthcoming album,
Taiga
, out October 7th, 2014 on Mute. Select US performances begin in San Francisco on October 8th, hitting major US cities before she heads to UK & Europe. Tickets go on sale beginning Friday July 18th. First single “Dangerous Days” is now available to purchase/stream
here
, and the album is available to pre-order
here.
Nika is the 25-year-old behind Zola Jesus’ creative incarnations as sole singer and songwriter. Influenced by her time in Iceland, Vermont, and British Columbia, Taiga was written on Vashon Island, WA and conjures all these places while creating a sonic space of its own that each listener can travel to, explore, hide in, and celebrate. Nika tracked and mixed the album in Los Angeles with co-producer Dean Hurley (David Lynch, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse).
At once challenging and accessible, Taiga is a transition for Zola Jesus. Undeniably branded with what Nika terms a “piercing ambition,” the album is best described by the artist herself: “The music on the record is massive, with big brass and beats, crystal clear vocals…It’s the most accessible music I’ve ever made, but also the most earnest and passionate. I gave everything for this record, more than ever before.”
