Rising Directing Duo Shoots New Pixies Music Video
PIXIES ENLISTS BUDDING DIRECTORIAL DUO FOR "RING THE BELL" MUSIC VIDEO
New Video Is Now Live at Radio.com
Pair's 2005 Home Video Clip of Pixies' Classic "Hey"Amasses 34-million YouTube Views
LOS ANGELES, CA - (MONDAY, September 15, 2014) -- When Lital Mizel and Adi Frimmerman filmed a sleepover in Mizel's bedroom back in 2005, lip-syncing and dancing to the Pixies' song "Hey" as a birthday present for Frimmerman's boyfriend, the two had no idea the clip would go viral to the tune of 34-million YouTube views (as of 9/2014) or catapult the two promising filmmakers to internet cult status. Nor, when the two attended the Pixies' show in Israel this past June and went backstage afterwards to meet them, did they ever dream a half-joke of offering their services to make another video clip for the band would be met with a green light.
But both incidents happened. Conceived and directed by Mizel and Frimmerman, the brand new music video for "Ring The Bell," from Indie Cindy (Pixiesmusic), Pixies' first new album in more than 20 years, is available today and can be viewed at Radio.com
The clip follows two girls (Mizel and Frimmerman) traveling with a supermarket cart, collecting discarded items from the streets. With this "junk," they arrive at their sanctuary in the woods where their "Generation-Y" friends gather to celebrate a kinder, happier, but faded-away world of PacMan, boomboxes, plastic charm bracelets, VHS tapes and cassettes, Care Bears, record players, roller skates, cornrows, mirror balls, round sunglasses and bubble blowers, now replaced by a 24/7, plugged-in mentality.
Explained Mizel, "The way we see it, the song is about that moment of ending, where you look back and long for those moments in a time and place that will soon fade away."
"We were born in the eighties and grew up during a time of rapid technology changes," Frimmerman added. "We got the idea to make a clip about our nostalgic longing for the things that had been replaced and the childhood memories that were attached to them. We also felt connected to the 'Generation-Y' characterization of those eighties-nineties lost kids who hold on to their memories of the past in a fast-changing, anxiety-filled world."
"Ring The Bell" will be serviced to commercial and non-comm AAA radio on September 16. Earlier this year, Pixies' album Indie Cindy entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #23, also holding the #1 spot on FMQB's SubModern Albums Charts for three weeks. Their track "Greens and Blues" was #1 on FMQB'sSubModern Singles chart for two weeks.
The second North American leg of Pixies 2013 - 2015 global tour kicks off on September 27 in San Diego, CA. Dates are below.

Nite Jewel remixes Nicholas Krgovichs 'Along the PCH on Oscar Night'
Nite Jewel remixes ‘Along the PCH on Oscar Night’ by Nicholas Krgovich
Listen HERE
New album ‘On Sunset’ out 13th October
“A piece of sophisticated, LA-styled adult contemporary.” Dummy
“A total night-driving song” Stereogum
[image error]
Nicholas Krgovich releases highly anticipated full-length studio album ‘On Sunset’ on September 22nd (UK) via Tin Angel Records. Esquire premiered his new video ‘Along The PCH On Oscar Night’ calling it“the chill out song of the summer”.
Watch on Esquire
The video was shot over two days by filmmaker Peter J Brant who has also produced videos for Solange and War on Drugs. The location: Los Angeles, in the hills of east LA, at a house in the Hollywood hills which swiftly moves along to on top of the Dolby Theatre – the actual academy awards venue and then outside the world famous Mann Graumann’s Chinese theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
The concept as Nicholas says “is open to interpretation and my main goal was to “appear” against the amazing backdrop and to let the viewer into the world of the song. There’s the despairing drifter and then there is the washed up movie star – they are both me”.
Taking inspiration from the two women in Mullohand Drive and That Obscure Object Of Desire, Krgovich performs as a variety of characters throughout the video where duality shines through. Nicholas Krgovich is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with No Kids, Gigi and P:ano. He has been releasing records under various monikers since P:ano’s acclaimed chamber pop debut, WHEN IT’S DARK AND IT’S SUMMER (2002). Even though the material is often wildly diverse, there is an unmistakable sense of Krgovich’s deep commitment to exploring the endless possibilities of pop, his discerning ear for sonic detail, and an ambition that wilfully borders on the absurd.
He has toured throughout North America, Europe and Asia with his various projects, and has collaborated with artists such as Mount Eerie, Nite Jewel and Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors. In between recording and touring he has participated in a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, written a one-act musical for Vancouver's Push Festival, contributed songs to myriad film and television productions.

TAHITI 80 RETURN TO MINTY FRESH WITH NEW ALBUM OCT 21
TAHITI 80 TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM BALLROOM ON OCTOBER 21stVIA MINTY FRESH
“As America was basking in catchy tunes, these French hit-makers were creating a sound
that would be ahead of their time in terms of style and sonic dynamics.”–The Huffington Post “Blithe, bouncy, and buffed-to-a-high-gloss indie pop”
–Pitchfork“Exciting energy that is both surprising and welcome”
–AllMusic
Tahiti 80 will release their new album, Ballroom, digitally and on vinylvia Minty Fresh on October 21st. For their sixth album, instead of their usual self-production, the band collaborated with Richard Swift (Tennis, The Shins, Foxygen) for some new ideas. After two years of writing songs, Tahiti 80 and Swift decided on a darker and sexier sound, mixed with their trademark catchy dance vibe. Frontman Xavier Boyer explains the title of the album: “The Ballroom is a place where a lot of things happen. People get together; couples make up or break up on the dance floor. It's pretty interesting!” Based in Paris, France, Tahiti 80 has been making waves on the French indie pop scene for years, along with contemporaries like Phoenix, Daft Punk, and Air. Xavier Boyer and bassist Pedro Resende formed the group as college students in the mid-nineties, sharing an affinity for indie music, new wave, and sixties pop. Taking their name from a souvenir t-shirt given to Boyer’s father in 1980, the duo recruited guitarist Mederic Gontier, and with the addition of drummer Sylvain Marchand a year later, the lineup was complete for the time being. However, Marchand eventually developed ear problems forcing him to stop touring and recording, and percussionist Raphaël Léger and keyboardist Hadrien Grange were added to the band.

Photo Credit: Steve GullickCold Specks, aka Al Spx, has returned, two years and a world map of tours after 2012’s I Predict a Graceful Expulsion. Hailed as a masterful and wholly original debut, the follow-up is radically expanded. The 26 year-old Canadian singer, under the sobriquet Al Spx, began work on Neuroplasticity while holed-up in a cottage in Wick, Somerset, UK during the winter of 2012. “The record was mapped out in the cottage. I was there for about three months,” she says, “'A Formal Invitation', 'Old Knives' and 'Absisto' were essentially written there. They are the more unusual songs on the record. I may have been reflecting on my surroundings. Have you ever been to Glastonbury? It's a pretty fucked up place.”
When Cold Specks wasn’t writing or touring, she was pinballing between asks from an enviable roll call of collaborators and award panels. Shortlisted for the Juno Award and Polaris Prize, Spx also worked on Moby’s album and was invited to play with Joni Mitchell at the singer’s 70th birthday last year, alongside the likes of Herbie Hancock. She contributed to Ambrose Akinmusire's new record for Blue Note and the latest Swans album ‘To Be Kind’. These last two partnerships have left a significant impression on ‘Neuroplasticity’. The indomitable Swans founder Michael Gira appears midway through on ‘Exit Plan,’ and Akinmusire joins him on the intense closer ‘A Season of Doubt’ as well as permeating most of the record with trumpet lines of an anguished, cracking frailty. “Deerhoof have been making music for more than 20 years; they’ve recorded 12 albums and released 30 singles, each time morphing into a different, distorted version of their fundamentally batshit sound. This band are in it for the long haul.” – The Guardian, August 27
“Exit Only” is the latest in a long lineage of absolutely bonkers art-punk tracks. It bears all of Deerhoof’s beloved trademarks: Satomi Matsuzaki’s cheery chirps, Greg Saunier’s off-balance clatter, hyper-real post-Pixies guitar leads, and the general sense that we had better get out of the way … It's classic Deerhoof, and it feels good to have them back.” – Stereogum, August 20
“the greatest and most underrated band of our time” – Tiny Mix Tapes, August 21
" ...as gleefully noisy as ever but with a more refined pop edge ... Deerhoof have taken upon themselves the task of keeping punk weird, even when it seemed like they were going at it alone." – Entertainment Weekly, September 9
“It’s a straight shot of saccharine-flavored dissonance, like mainlining a couple dozen Pixy Stix in one sitting.” – Consequence of Sound, August 20
"Digging on this new Deerhoof. Easily one of the most hard-hitting songs in the band's growing discography. Bring it on!“ – The Needle Drop, September 2
Deerhoof‘s defiant attitude has kept fans on their toes for the past 20 years. Their thirteenth full-length album La Isla Bonita breathes the casual, joyous sound of the band at a creative peak. The album reinforces the band’s influential place with the aggressive female-fronted acts of today such as Priests, St. Vincent and Perfect Pussy, all the while never losing their sense of adventure … and humor.
The first La Isla Bonita single revealed was the bold, punk and possibly unexpected track “Exit Only” to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans & media alike. The band has just revealed the second album track “Paradise Girls” which showcases the band’s signature minimalist approach, enveloped in nervy feminist funk. Rebelling against the need for patriarchal approval, the song is an aggressive call to strong, smart and sassy women that challenge societal constraints. “Our heroes on this song are Joan Jett, Janet Jackson, Kim Gordon, Kathleen Hanna. It's about how girls are and have always been smarter,” says drummer Greg Saunier. "Paradise Girls" premiered with Pitchfork alongside the announcement of their national fall tour and is available to post & share HERE .
La Isla Bonita was co-produced by former journalist-turned-label owner and music producer Nick Sylvester, and recorded in band member Ed Rodriguez’ basement studio.
