Miles Davis & John Coltrane 4-CD set of landmark 'Live' recordings

Miles Davis & John Coltrane "All Of You: The Last Tour" A unique 4-CD set of landmark 'Live' recordings coming December 2nd
Davis' tour of Europe during the spring of 1960 that marked the close of his five year association with Coltrane Trapeze Music & Entertainment is releasing on itsAcrobat label a 4-CD set of 'live' recordings from the 1960 tour of Europe by The Miles Davis Quintetfeaturing John Coltrane, which effectively marked the close of Coltrane's five-year association with Davis.
The recordings comprise radio broadcast and private recordings which have previously been available in a patchy and piecemeal fashion, this is the first time that a substantial body of the material recorded during the tour has been brought together in one collection, providing listeners with a coherent appreciation of the extraordinary creative alchemy that the two front men delivered on a nightly, often twice-nightly basis.

Featuring Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums, the performances saw creative sparks flying the instant the band took to the stage, and audiences witnessed the trumpeter and his star sidemen reinventing their regular repertoire like never before.

The recordings have been carefully cleaned and re-mastered to achieve the highest possible quality and sound dynamics without prejudicing the essential character of the performances, and the result is a stunning, sometimes almost exhausting, six hours or so of absorbing listening, such is the intensity of the music. Comprehensive and in-depth notes in the 36-page booklet by noted writer and award-nominated tenor saxophonist Simon Spillett give a detailed technical commentary on the performances and solos, which gives a fascinating insight into the techniques and styles of the musicians.

The set is specially packaged in a high quality box with each CD in its own individual wallet, making this a highly collectible and prestigious package befitting the provenance of the recordings.

“It looks at life's ties that bind and searches for ways to chill and not fight every battle.” – NPR

“a compendium of sparky, falsetto and synth-driven indie-pop […] Like MGMT before they fell down a psych-K-hole” – VICE’s Noisey

"Think of it as an ambient electro soundtrackto the segue from day to night." –  Esquire

New Orleans’ Generationals release their highly anticipated fourth studio album  Alix today via Polyvinyl Records! Comprised of band members Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer and produced by Richard Swift (The Black Keys, The Shins, Foxygen), the new album has revealed itself as perhaps the band’s most confident record yet.

The album is an immediate classic, giving a tangible feeling of history which is no surprise as the duo have been friends since high school and Generationals co-captains since 2008. Built up with layers of rhythm, computer noises, RZA beats and poppy vocals, Alix is a good-smelling, subtly sexy, catchy-or-die blend of time-warp senselessness. It is an album lightly peppered with that signature Swiftian element but undeniably Generationals in taste.

Generationals recently announced a headlining North American tour in support of the release of Alix. Support on the run will be provided by Arum Rae and Springtime Carnivor  additional dates announced today with Lowell.

Danish pop powerhouse  The Asteroids Galaxy Tour , consisting of Lars Iversen &Mette Lindberg, have  released  their highly anticipated third studio album,  Bring Us Together today via Hot Bus/Rough Trade! Having won audiences across the world over with their unique brand of deliciously fun & edgy pop, the Copenhagen duo have delivered listeners ten tracks of pure audio bliss. Bring Us Together just debuted at #48 on the iTunes Top 100 Pop Albums chart!

Heavily inspired by the two years of non-stop promotional & touring madness (and subsequent sense of isolation) following their previous album, Bring Us Together finds the duo’s desire to explore new musical avenues greater than ever before. The result is a sound collage & pop symphony created from equal parts of chopped-up danceable beats, spaced-out synths & bright neon green pop hooks. They’ve quickly become one of Denmark’s most prominent musical success stories, selling out venues around the globe & acquiring fans worldwide in the process.

In support of the new record, they’ll take to the road on a US tour this October, making stops in San FranciscoLos AngelesBostonNew YorkWashington, DC &Philadelphia:

GARY CLARK JR. GEARS UP FOR RELEASE OF FIRST-EVER LIVE ALBUM

GARY CLARK JR. GEARS UP FOR RELEASE OF FIRST-EVER LIVE ALBUM
GARY CLARK JR. LIVE  DUE SEPTEMBER 23RD ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS
THE NEW YORK TIMES WILL PREMIERE THE ALBUM IN ITS ENTIRETYBEGINNING TODAY
CLARK ROCKS NEW YORK CITY AND FARM AID WITH A LITTLE HELP FROMHIS FRIENDS
September 16th, 2014 - (Burbank, CA.) - Gary Clark Jr. is gearing up for the release of his first-ever live album, which is due from Warner Bros. Records on September 23rd. The blistering performances collected on  Gary Clark Jr. Live  span his gigs at clubs, theatres, arenas, and festivals from the past 18 months of non-stop touring. Each track was captured as purely and spontaneously as it was performed on the night with absolutely no overdubs. Click here for preview of  Gary Clark Jr. Live .Beginning today, Sep 16th, The New York Times will stream the album in its entirety. Click here to listen.
There is an inherent magic that occurs when Clark and his band take the stage each night. They do not use set lists, preferring to be guided by the energy that flows from the audience. It is an organic, spontaneous, and almost mystical experience to witness. That magic was on display during Clark's recent live performances in New York City, which included the band's first-ever Summer Stage show in Central Park, which was sold-out. For an encore, G. Love joined Clark onstage and accompanied him on the harmonica for a cover of "In the Evening" by Leroy Carr and "Shame Shame Shame" by Jimmy Reed. Before the show, Clark ran into 11-year-old fan, Brandon Niederauer, whom he first met at Crossroads Guitar Festival last year, where he claimed to know all of Clark's songs and indeed did. He joined Clark onstage for the final song of the night, "Bright Lights" and turned out to be a guitar prodigy, performing Clark's solo.
The following night, Clark played an impromptu set at the intimate club, The Electric Room, performing for a fashion-week audience of 150. In attendance were Lorde, G. Love, Citizen Cope, John Varvatos, Damien Hurst, Adriana Lima, and Jeremy Piven, who played drums on "Bright Lights."
Over the past weekend, Clark performed at the annual Farm Aid Food and Music Festival at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh, North Carolina, joining a star-studded line-up that included Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Jack White, and many others. Nelson invited Clark on stage, where he played the remainder of his set. Check out more of Clark's performance from the night here.                                                                                                             Clark's remaining tour dates this year as follows:09/19   Valley Center, CA        Harrah's Rincon - Events Center (headline)09/20   Monterey, CA               Monterey Jazz Festival           09/21   Guerneville, CA            Russian River Jazz Festival11/01   Los Angeles, CA          The Greek Theater (co-headline w/ Tedeschi Trucks Band)
