Santigold has an unbeatable Black Friday deal, a new video and album presale with a99¢ bonus! Today sees the release of the video for “Who Be Lovin’ Me (feat. ILOVEMAKONNEN)” from her forthcoming third album 99¢, due out January 22nd via Atlantic Records. The jubilant duet was produced by Toronto duo Zeds Dead and finds Santigold and ILOVEMAKONNEN playing a couple boasting to each other about their admirers all around the world. "We met Makonnen on the Mad Decent Boat Party last year and knew he could kill this beat,” say Zeds Dead about the track, “He hit us up and said he and Santigold both were jumping on it. We're big fans of hers, so when he brought that back to us it was a no-brainer. The record just came together really naturally and the final cut is something we're all really happy with." The video, directed by Trouble Andrew and Santigold, was filmed at this year’s Made in America festival in Philadelphia and features cameos from A-Trak, Big Sean, De La Soul, DJ Mustard, Earl Sweatshirt, Fabolous, Justine Skye, Meek Mill, Vic Mensa, and more. The song, along with first single “Can’t Get Enough of Myself (feat. B.C),” are available now at all digital retailers and as an instant grat with select album preorders. Watch the video at Santigold.com , which will be continually updated with exclusive new content. As a special Black Friday door buster, fans who preorder the album vinyl on Santigold.com can also purchase a cassette version of it for 99¢.
On 99¢, Santigold examines the commercial nature of our world and the ways in which we package ourselves and our lives for consumption. “We have no illusion that we don’t live in this world where everything is packaged. People’s lives, persona, everything, is deliberate, and mediated. It can be dark and haunting and tricky, and freak us out, but it can be also be silly and fun and we can learn to play with it,” she says. She also explores our fascination with perfection and our inherent inability to attain it. The use of playful satire, social critique, and self-examination to explore these themes is reflected in the album’s cover art, a collaboration with photographer Haruhiko Kawaguchi (photographer Hal), finds Santigold shrink-wrapped amongst her cluttered possessions ready for the store shelves.
Following her last album, the dark and cerebral Master of My Make Believe, Santigold wanted to explore new corners of her sound and different ways to convey her vision and political commentary. She worked with new collaborators Patrik Berger, Rostam Batmanglij, Hit-Boy, HazeBanga, Justin Raisen, Zeds Dead, ILOVEMAKONNEN, andSam Dew and longtime cohorts John Hill, Dave Sitek, and Doc McKinney. The result is the bright and big sound of 99¢ that takes the genre-defying fearlessness Santigold has become known for to new places.
Santigold’s sophomore album, Master of My Make Believe became her first #1 album, topping the Billboard Dance/ Electronic albums chart. She's won an ASCAP Pop Music award (Vanguard Award), and has been nominated for a Q Award, MTV Europe Music Award, and BRIT Award. Her recent brand collaborations include a limited edition make up collection for Smashbox and an accessories collection for Stance. She recently had comedic roles on The Office and Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV.

Deerhoof Live Album - Fever 121614 - Out Today
DeerhoofFever 121614Out Now on Polyvinyl Records
Deerhoof has made their live album, though they didn't plan on it. Their Japanese label Felicity organized the recording and filming of one stop on their 13-day Japan tour in December. But while the label execs were thinking "legendary band makes classic live-in-Japan concert album," Deerhoof had more tours to do and promptly forgot about it.
When a rough cut of the video appeared in their inboxes a couple months later, they were surprised by what they saw. They'd never seen a video of themselves that really reminded them of what it felt like to play the concert. Their long-time friend Noriko Oishi, who did the edit, was able to simulate the fast-paced communication that's constantly zipping between Satomi, John, Ed and Greg when they're onstage, and she seemed to instinctively zero in all the right moments.
For Greg, who'd been mixing a lot of live Deerhoof to provide "official" audio for various Youtube users posting shows, getting the sound right for the album was a breeze. Just "tell it like it is." Ed had the brainstorm of asking Deerhoof's followers on social media to make manga drawings of the band, to be used in a huge collage. The Japanese label knew they had the classic live-in-Japan album they'd hoped for. Once Deerhoof's U.S. label Polyvinyl saw the video, they knew it was one for the ages and wanted in for their own LP version.
In his Talkhouse review, Spencer Tweedy said it best: "Deerhoof was able to turn me into a shit-grinning, foul-mouthed hard rock fan before the first chorus of the record even started...It’s wound so tight, so energetic, that it sounds like a miracle that it doesn’t snap at any moment...If you ever forget why it is you like to play music, Deerhoof is there to remind you."
Fever 121614 is out today as an official Record Store Day Black Friday selection. The 12 songs, drawn from all over Deerhoof's catalog, appear on the red-vinyl LP and accompanying video download. The gatefold sleeve features a collage of manga drawings by particularly rabid Deerhoof fans.
Also released today, New York violin duo String Noise's The Book of Strange Positions, with its amazing cover version of Deerhoof’s "We Do Parties." Find out more about thathere.

Danzig’s Covers Album Skeletons Released Today
Danzig’s Covers Album SkeletonsReleased Today

Covering The Everly Bros, ZZ Top, The Troggs, Elvis, and More
Out via Evilive Records/Nuclear Blast Entertainment
You know it’s Danzig the moment you hear him. It’s not just that inimitable voice either. It’s the thick airy guitars, bluesy swagger, and “come hither” evil that placed him at the forefront of a number of musical revolutions. His work has indelibly impacted the landscape of extreme music, fortifying the crossroads between heavy riffs and occult imagery so prevalent these days. Moreover, you can consistently feel his presence throughout pop culture, which expands further with his successful Verotik Comics and forthcoming feature film directorial debut.
However, Danzig wants to show you where it started with his tenth full-length album and first since 2010’s Deth Red Saboath—Skeletons. Out today via Nuclear Blast Entertainment/Evilive Records, the album is available for purchase here and anywhere digital and physical albums are sold.
A labor of love that began in 1979, Skeletons allows Danzig to pull back the curtain behind his influences with a collection of ten covers spanning artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, ZZ Top, and Aerosmith to Black Sabbath, The Troggs, The Everly Brothers, and more. Recorded across several years in Los Angeles, he quite literally reveals the bone structure for his own style and features some of the most striking album art of his career. Nodding to David Bowie’s Pin Ups, the cover features Danzig and model Kayden Kross in skullface.
“These are my skeletons,” he affirms. “You may or may not know that I dig these songs. You could say that some of this music is the actual basis and skeleton of what I listened to growing up—ultimately informing the kind of music I like. It’s the foundation. If you took Elvis and Sabbath out of my life, I probably wouldn’t be the Glenn Danzig you know! I’m glad both sides are represented on this record.”
Ultimately, Skeletons sparks the next phase for Danzig. Helping catalyze his next full-length offering, it’s yet another revolution. “I hope people dig it,” he leaves off. “I also hope it gives everybody a little bit of insight into the music I listen to and maybe an insight into how I did the songs. If you enjoy it, that’s great.”
No matter what, you’ll know it’s undeniably him the moment you press play.
Skeletons Track List
1. Devil's Angels (from Devil’s Angels soundtrack)
2. Satan (from Satan’s Sadists soundtrack)
3. Let Yourself Go (Elvis Presley)
4. N.I.B. (Black Sabbath)
5. Lord Of The Thighs (Aerosmith)

Pope Francis’ Music Album Wake Up!
Out Today on Believe Digital

Following two groundbreaking single releases, “Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!” and “¿Por Qué Sufren Los Niños?”, Believe Digital is pleased to release Pope Francis’ music album in full. Wake Up! is a diverse collection of eleven tracks containing the sacred hymns of the Christian tradition reimagined by contemporary artists and composers. Pope Francis’ voice is heard through excerpts of his most significant speeches during his election set over an eclectic compilation of songs ranging from pop to rock, Latin music to Gregorian chants. Wake Up! represents a harmonic link between tradition and modernism. The album is being released today, November 27, viahttp://popefranciswakeup.believedigital.com/. In addition to the music, the order includes a twenty-four page booklet including lyrics and His Holiness’ words and prayers.
In Italian, Spanish, English, and Portuguese we hear Pope Francis address universal issues such as peace, dignity, environmental protection, and aid for people most in need. With assistance from various global artists, Wake Up! is a diverse and poignant compilation. The album’s namesake “Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!” is a direct message to youth to move continuously onward in life and is set to extremely accessible electric guitar riffs, inspiring horn lines, and upbeat bass. “Cuidar El Planeta” combines classical guitar with Latin dance influences to bring to light the importance of environmentalism. Arranged with haunting choir vocals and evocative string accompaniment. “¿Por Qué Sufren Los Niños?” is a compassionate track filled with empathy. The remainder of the album is as equally distinct while staying musically authentic.
Holy Father Francis is a forward thinking spiritual leader who has given the Catholic Church a new energy. The Pontiff has millions of followers all whom turn to Francis for prayers, requests, and intercession to which he responds personally and graciously. Now, this album will act as a connection between spirituality and the modern ideals of the collective by bridging faith and the common good through contemporary music.

NPR premieres music video for Chastity Belt's "Lydia"
CHASTITY BELT SHARE NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR "LYDIA" FROM THE ACCLAIMED TIME TO GO HOME
VIDEO - "Lydia" [dir. Shaun Libman]
VIDEO - "Joke" [dir. Chastity Belt]
VIDEO - "Cool Slut" [dir. Joe Holcomb]
VIDEO - "Time to Go Home" [dir. Bobby McHugh]
Today, NPR Music premiered Shaun Libman's artful music video forChastity Belt's "Lydia," from their acclaimed 2015 album Time to Go Home. Captured in high-contrast black-and-white photography and utilizing hand-made sets, this new video ably captures the song's air of wistful yearning that's made it such a standout track for listeners from here to the airwaves of BBC.
Chastity Belt just returned home from a six-week European tour, including sold-out headlining dates and a run opening for Death Cab for Cutie. Time to Go Home is out now. Review copies are available upon request.
Press quotes:
"Disciplined in its disaffection." -- The New York Times
"Maintains [a] fun-loving sex-positive approach with tracks like 'Cool Slut' while also acknowledging the complexities of life." -- The New Yorker
"Time to Go Home is an unrepentant triumph that will ultimately establish the group has one of the most important musical voices showcased in 2015." -- The 405
"This is feminism as fact; as default...It's the evolution of how young women impart vitally important information." -- NPR
"They're funny, and slightly goofy, and gently vulgar, and they play with an appealingly loose, relaxed confidence." -- Pitchfork
"Digs even deeper into a jaded melancholia that they only scratched the surface of on their debut." -- Stereogum
"Chastity Belt are making a strong case for being the most important band to emerge from Washington state’s Emerald City since Nirvana."
-- UK Press AssociationAbout the record:Chastity Belt is a rock band consisting of four friends - guitarists Julia Shapiro and Lydia Lund, bassist Annie Truscott, and drummer Gretchen Grimm. They met in a tiny college town in Eastern Washington, but their story begins for real in Seattle, that celebrated home of Macklemore and the Twelfth Man. Following a post-grad summer apart, a handful of shows and enthusiastic responses from the city’s DIY community led them, as it has countless others, into a cramped practice space. They emerged with a debut album, No Regerts, sold it out faster than anyone involved thought possible, and toured America, a country that embraced them with open-ish arms. Now they’re back and the tab is settled, the lights are out, the birds are making noise even though the sun isn’t really up yet: it’s Time to Go Home, their second long-player and first for Hardly Art.
In the outside world, they realized something crucial: they didn’t have to play party songs now that their audience didn’t consist exclusively of inebriated 18-22 year olds, as it did in that college town. Though still built on a foundation of post-post-punk energy, jagged rhythms, and instrumental moves that couldn’t be anyone else’s, the songs they grew into in the months that followed are equal parts street-level takedown and gray-skied melancholy. They embody the sensation of being caught in the center of a moment while floating directly above it; Shapiro’s world spins around her on “On The Floor,” grounded by Grimm and Truscott’s most commanding playing committed to tape. They pay tribute to writer Sheila Heti on “Drone” and John Carpenter with “The Thing,” and deliver a parallel-universe stoner anthem influenced by Electrelane with “Joke.”
Recorded by José Díaz Rohena at the Unknown, a deconsecrated church and former sail factory in Anacortes, and mixed with a cathedral’s worth of reverb by Matthew Simms (guitarist for legendary British post-punks and one-time tourmates Wire), Time to Go Home sees Chastity Belt take the nights out and bad parties of their past to their stretching points, watch the world around them break apart in anticipatory haze, and rebuild it in their own image with stunning clarity before anyone gets hungover.
