PURCHASE: NO REALITY EP -
To celebrate the release of his new EP NO REALITY today, Los Angeles-based production auteur Nosaj Thing is back to share a new interactive audio-visual site to complete the NO REALITYexperience. The site was designed by Amsterdam-based Timetable artist Ben Wegscheider, a designer and developer known for pushing the boundaries of digital culture. Speaking about this concept for the new site, Wegscheider said, "I focused on creating dynamic visuals that support the vibe of his new EP to create an immersive experience for the audience. It's a trip through NO REALITY audio waves." Visit nosajthing.com.
In addition to the EP being out today, Nosaj Thing will be embarking on an audio-visual tour with acclaimed visual artist Daito Manabe, bookended by appearances at this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Check out lead NO REALITY single "N R 2" above now and see below for more info about the upcoming tour and all NO REALITY EP details.
About the NO REALITY tour:
Nosaj Thing will showcase NO REALITY material on his forthcoming performances with Daito Manabe, a run that is bookended by Coachella appearances with shows in Brooklyn, San Francisco and Los Angeles in between. The shows will feature technology applications drawn and evolved from their their previous collaborations together on Nosaj Thing's "Eclipse/Blue" and "Cold Stares" music videos, which includes Augmented Reality, 3D scanning and motion capture.
Daito has become well-known in the music space for his work with artists like Bjork, Squarepusher, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Perfume, with which he premiered some of these same techniques during their SXSW performance in 2015. In discussing their latest video, Wired UK points out the effectiveness of Daito's focus on switching between worlds. "The [result] is both jarring and seamless, shifting between real and virtual realities so quickly that the line between the two worlds vanishes." This is the goal ofNO REALITY collaboration, to give the audience a truly transportive live experience. "We are constantly experimenting and thinking of ways to create a new form of performance by utilizing technologies such as machine and deep learning," adds Manabe.
The NO REALITY vision was birthed with their first live performance together at Taico Festival in Japan last year, however the US premiere is the initial realization of the dream. While Nosaj has been known for his leading edge visual shows, the Daito live performance promises to be a mind-blowing revelation. Plans are being formed now for the next set of US tour dates, for Fall 2016.   Nosaj Thing NO REALITY (Innovative Leisure)April 8, 2016

On the heels of releasing their recent video for "Winterbreak" and standout performances from their debut SXSW appearance, Los Angeles' MUNA are back today to share "Loudspeaker", taken from their forthcoming The Loudspeaker EP that is due for release on May 6th.
"Loudspeaker" more than any song in the band's catalog perfectly encapsulates the delicate balance they strike -- a combination of expertly crafted songwriting and powerful lyrics executed with nuance. Speaking about the song, the band self-describes it as "the thesis of MUNA." Addressing its themes, they expand that it's "a song about about marginalization, abuse, and shame, but also about empowerment and ultimately, resilience and survival. It's a song about being alive in a world which demands that when we suffer abuse, we silence ourselves...and about essentially refusing to let that happen."
Listen to "Loudspeaker" and watch the "Winterbreak" video above now and see below for MUNA's upcoming North American tour dates and all The Loudspeaker EP details.

The Dandy Warhols Share Video For "You Are Killing Me" 'Distortland' out Tomorrow April 8!

THE DANDY WARHOLS  SHARE VIDEO FOR"YOU ARE KILLING ME" http://vevo.ly/zWTs6e
PREMIERED VIA PITCHFORK AND STARS ANDY WARHOL SUPERSTAR JOE DALLESANDRO
DISTORTLAND OUT THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 8
BAND ON TOUR NOW!

"The Dandy Warhols have been around providing you the perfect dose of psychedelic pop since 1994." Paste
The Dandy Warhols are excited to share a video for their single "You Are Killing Me." The video stars  Joe Dallesandro , who is best known for starring in Andy Warhol films including FleshHeat, and Trash. Joe Dallesandro - who also graced the cover ofRolling Stone in 1971 - has rarely appeared on camera in the last 20 years making his involvement all the more exciting.
The video - which premiered on Pitchfork - was directed by Mark Helfrich who notes"The concept for the video came out of Courtney's desire to have a film featuring not only Joe Dallesandro, but furries as well.  I thought Joe had the perfect look for a Film Noir setting. So I came up with a trippy treatment and everybody signed off on it.  The day before shooting I got a message that Zia was flying to Los Angeles because she wanted to be the Bunny!  So Zia's the Bunny.  I was thrilled to work with the iconic Joe Dallesandro. He hasn't acted much in the past couple of decades, but he wanted to do this project because he digs the Dandy Warhols.  It was an honor to direct him.
Watch "You Are Killing Me" here (cleared to share / post):

AV Club have noted "In the druggy, psychedelic world long-inhabited by the Dandy Warhols, it's hard to think of a more on-the-nose album title than Distortland. The Warhols' 10th studio effort lives up to its name, at least if we're to judge by its lead single 'You Are Killing Me.' Moving forward in a heavier direction from 2012's subtle This Machine , the song is almost mechanical in its straight-forwardness, but it's as self-consciously cool and catchy as one would expect from the alt-rock veterans"
The Dandy Warhols new album  Distortland  is being released this FridayApril 8, viaDine Alone.   Pandora  is exclusively streaming the entire album a week in advance.  Listen here:  http://pdora.co/Distortland.
The band just kicked off their first tour in support of the album and will be playing at New York City's Bowery Ballroom next week (April 12 and 13) with a third area show atBrooklyn's Rough Trade on April 16.  The complete list of dates is listed below.

"it has all the understated, tuneful swagger that you would hope to hear from a new Dandy Warhols song in 2016."  Stereogum on "Catcher In The Rye"
"('STYGGO' is) a hypnotic strut of a song, that never quite peaks so much as lures you with singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor's vocals low and lulling in the mix. They're urging you to lean in that little bit closer." Noisey
"(it) features a sparse arrangement consisting of straightforward, chugging, overdriven guitar, multi-tracked vocals, and slightly off kilter harmonies. Everything about the new tune, from the instrumentation to the lyrics, comes off as effortless, but the simplistic hook is memorable enough that heads will surely nod."AV Club on "You Are Killing Me"
"the song sports a chugging guitar riff and an earwormy hook" Diffuser on "You Are Killing Me"
"the choral hook will surely have you turning back again and again." Austin Town Hall on "You Are Killing Me"

LISTEN & SHARE: Oberhofer - "Hey Man" Track
https://soundcloud.com/glassnotemusic/hey-man"“This song is about just being a guy about town and saying ‘hey’ to the people you know, the people you don't know, the people who like you, and the people who don't want to like you."
– OberhoferMemories can be inspiring or stifling, alluring or ugly, wistful, joyous or flat. But what if they all come rushing back in a moment of quiet? You're in headphones, zoned out, and your entire life flashes before your eyes, floods your ears, sounds like a screaming orchestra, feels like a bounding sack of lead, and looks like an unholy filmic mashup of David Cronenberg and Ken Burns. This is "chronovision," a high-concentration dose of pure memory. And on the album of the same newly minted name, Brad Oberhofer distills his own total recall into beautiful, bittersweet song.

When it came time to make his second proper album under the Oberhofer name, the Tacoma-raised, New York-based artist had a great deal to draw from. His almost idyllic youth — mom sang opera; dad sailed boats; family lived on a gulch; deer and fox munched blueberries outside — had recently smashed up against harsh reality. One day while home for a brief respite from touring his 2012 debut Time Capsules II, Oberhofer woke to find his roommate dead, in the bathroom, of a heroin overdose. He had to call his friend's boyfriend and break the news. Then, a mere three days later, he had to clear out all of his belongings and drive his band to Lollapalooza.

Such events seem to cast all else in a severe light, so while you'll hear Oberhofer's familiar sound — amped psych-pop with orchestral flourish, New Wave flare, and grungy fuzz — the intensity has been ratcheted up. The brighter moments are more brilliant, almost manically so, and the darker hues have deepened in kind. Certain samples, keyboard runs, and piano figures evoke calliope — circus music, conjuring innocence and madness in turn. And our host is as apt to channel the bliss of Brian Wilson's SMiLE ("Sun Halo") as he is the blooming melancholia of early Grandaddy ("What You Know"). The ghosts of Lou Reed and Del Shannon lurk these halls, too.

Much of this is also to do with Oberhofer's resolve to produce the LP himself. The road toChronovision was winding. He first rented a spot in the Catskills, set up all of his instruments (piano, keyboards, guitars, drums, clarinet, violin, Theramin), and made a song a day for two weeks. But that version of the record would be scrapped, as would the next, recorded in Seattle with Phil Ek (the Shins, Modest Mouse) on the boards. Two more album's worth of songs were recorded in a pair of overnight solo jags, but those only exist today in the annals of SoundCloud. A final spurt took him to a Tacoma studio, two NYC facilities (Strange Weather, Electric Lady), and the former Sound City in Los Angeles. Lastly: Atlanta to mix with Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Washed Out). Exactly 106 demos later, Oberhofer emerged with these 12 songs.

That process isn't altogether surprising. When he's not playing or recording with Oberhofer the band — Oberhofer the man is constantly creating. His Instagram feed is full of bite-sized video loops. His Bandcamp offers a free collection of "daily meditations." Via a second SoundCloud account, he's recording 1,000-plus custom piano pieces for fans and friends (each composition bearing the person's name). It's possible he developed the practice while studying music at NYU (before he dropped out), after touring with the likes of Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian, or Matt & Kim, or in recording his last album with Grammy-stacking producer Steve Lillywhite. But one gets the feeling Oberhofer's been this way.

Chronovision bears the mark of that dedication, even if the perspective is often far more cloistered. "I spent my life inside a hole/I don't have any place to go," he coos through a forced grin on "Nevena," while on "Someone Take Me Home," he imagines a future in which his muse has left him for dead — set to cheery fuzz-pop, naturally. And sweet though they may be, "Sea of Dreams" and "White Horse, Black River" are respective dedications to Oberhofer's two grandmothers, who passed recently. Still, the LP's coda finds him looking outward, with optimism: "Listen to everyone/They too have songs in their eyes." The line implies that "chronovision" — the heady sum of one's memory — can be shared, and why not? That's what Oberhofer's just done.

Highasakite Return With Lead Cut "Golden Ticket"! Out Tomorrow!

HIGHASAKITE RETURN WITH LEAD CUT ‘GOLDEN TICKET’
TAKEN FROM FORTHCOMING SOPHOMORE LP ‘CAMP ECHO’,
OUT MAY 20 [
PRE-ORDER]
Far from the Wonka-esque fantasies such title would suggest, Highasakite return with lead single ‘Golden Ticket’ embarking a much more dystopian route to escapism. The track opens with “God, if you’re still watching” – a premise lifted from Gunvor Hofmo’s post-World War II poem, ‘Det er ingen hverdag mer’ [translation: there's no more every day], or as vocalist Ingrid Helene Håvik describes it: “Norway’s funeral blues”.

“It’s a very famous verse, and was used a lot around the time of the Norwegian terrorist attacks [Oslo and Utøya2011],” she explains. “The song is very much about escapism, both escaping yourself and the world; just wanting to get high and get out, basically” – a surprising foundation, given the track’s uplifting and undeniable pop sensibilities.

>> Stream/embed ‘Golden Ticket’ here:  https://soundcloud.com/propellerrecordings/highasakite-golden-ticket

It follows introductory single  ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’  – a “dark and pummeling” cut that had the likes of The FADERBBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens) andVogue lining up to premiere its collective parts; now boasting in excess of 2.5 million streams. It’s afforded an equally dark video that features Håvik in seething, oil-drenched contortion. Watch it  HERE .

Following acclaimed debut LP of 2014  ‘Silent Treatment’ , which recently celebrated a massive two-year milestone in the Norwegian Top 40 Chart, Highasakite stare down sophomore successor  ‘Camp Echo’  – released May 20via Propeller Recordings. Taking its namesake from one of seven detention camps within Guantanamo Bay, ‘Camp Echo’ signals a hefty summer tour schedule, including festival billings at The Great EscapeLatitude Festival,Roskilde and Øyafestivalen, alongside a UK/EU Headline Tour in May. The band is also confirmed for multiple high-profile TV appearances next month. Full live dates below…‘Golden Ticket’ is released this Friday, April 8 – taken from forthcoming album
‘Camp Echo’, out May 20 via Propeller Recordings. Available to pre-order

Highasakite is Ingrid Helene Håvik (vocals), Trond Bersu (drums),

The special guest at the London and Manchester shows is the new Warp signing, New York based vocalist and producer, Lafawndah.
“The four-piece appear in masks and black robes suggesting an order of faceless funk monks. Their live instrumentation injects new life into the frenetic jazz fusion of Squarepusher Theme and adds an emotional intensity to the melancholic colour of Iambic 5 Poetry” Mixmag
SHOBALEADER ONE’s thrilling debut shows in Brighton and London last October were rapturously praised by both critics and fans alike, who marvelled in hearing seminal Squarepusher classics brought to life by Tom Jenkinson and a handpicked band of virtuoso musicians.
Now, for the first time ever, video footage has been released to give fans a taster of what’s to come this May in Manchester, Berlin and London. The group have been deep in rehearsal mode, honing an expanded set that’ll be even more incendiary and dynamic than their auspicious debut.
Shobaleader One first emerged as a vehicle for Jenkinson’s compositions with vocals, and evolved into the killer release ‘d’Demonstrator’. After three years touring the almighty Ufabulum and Damogen Furies live shows, Tom is working with the band again with renewed enthusiasm, developing new ideas as well as reinterpreting choice classics from his catalogue.
Speaking of catalogue, Warp records will be re-releasing deluxe editions of Squarepusher’s classic albums later this year. Watch this space for more information.

Eagulls share new video + announces North American tour

EAGULLS SHARE NEW VIDEO "SKIPPING" VIA NOISEY
ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES
ULLAGES DUE MAY 13TH VIA PARTISAN RECORDSWATCH: "Skipping" - https://youtu.be/O7NJd0TfFCs
On the heels of recently sharing new song "Skipping", Leeds' Eagulls are back today to share the song's video and announce a run of North American tour dates. The video reinforces the feeling that the track itself conveys -- urgent and claustrophobic, yet decidedly beautiful. That same feeling is present in their lauded live show, which the band will be bringing to North American audiences on the heels of Ullages' release.
Speaking about the video, director Matthew Michael John Tully said: "The concept evolved into the idea of working around a central character that exists in an environment that has been fabricated solely to fulfill an almost ritualistic act in an isolated spaced distant from everyday reality and routine. I liked the idea of the act being fetish like in its portrayal, communicating the feeling that the character was using it as a form of private escapism, a pre meditated means of release, disconnected from any day to day role and of course monotony."
As a complete work, Ullages shows the band delving further into their songwriting, challenging melodic elements, and carving out a new sound for themselves. Watch the video for "Skipping" above now, see below for all Ullages details as well as the band's upcoming North American tour dates and get "Skipping" as a free flexi-disc single when you order pre-order Ullages on vinyl from the Partisan webstore
