What People Are Saying About
Alan Sparhawk’s White Roses, My God:

“‘Can U Hear,’ the album’s first single, is certainly an unconventional expression of grief, with its droning electronics, sputtering beat and eerie Auto-Tuned vocals. But that digitized wail is unmistakably mournful, and there is something admirably bold in the way Sparhawk, as ever, rejects the expected.” [“Can U Hear”] New York Times

“…this is a record that ultimately finds Sparhawk turning pain into a kind of spiritual beauty” - [Album of the Month] Uncut

“…viscerally inventive within its closed sound world: snaking, slurred, and often anarchically fun.” - Pitchfork

“Like almost everything Sparhawk creates, it is beautiful, but also very heavy, as you might expect, with grief at its core.” - Brooklyn Vegan

“White Roses, My God is a glance at Sparhawk’s musical sketchbook that’s somehow both unrehearsed and constructed with care, enjoyable and unknowable, as transient as it is profound. It may be somewhat unexpected in form, but its compelling content should come as no surprise” - Under the Radar

“…minimalist and elegiac, at once teasing, fracturing, and stumbling upon emotions through the means of vocal manipulation and technological rigidity ” - Our Culture

“Made by Sparhawk entirely on his own, White Roses is the sound of someone searching for his voice, a new way to articulate the love they shared and all that is missed.” - The Quietus

WATCH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h34aUyeeEYA

(October 31st, 2024) - midwxst is back to share his new single “no handouts.” In his first release since the July mixtape BACK IN ACTION 4.0, midwxst affirms his staying power and all that’s in store singing, “I’m in for a long time, know I’m here to stay.” The music video directed by Neve Abcari flashes between midwxst in scenes of freedom and chaos in an open landscape and weathering a storm. More directly, the 21-year-old uses the track to share advice, encouraging those weathering their own challenges to persevere.

“no handouts” follows BACK IN ACTION 4.0, the latest in midwxst’s mixtape series known for its apocalyptic production and explosive vocal performances. The project highlights his creative evolution, blending his love for car culture with a relentless drive and growing confidence. This sound shines in singles like “E30”, “FIRE” featuring DC the Don, and “GUN SMOKE,” where midwxst delivers untouchable bars over booming 808s.

Last September, midwxst, born Edgar Sarratt III, released his debut album E3, which provided listeners a path forward through relationships, identity formation, and the internet. midwxst enlisted industry veterans and session musicians to soundtrack what he described as a “fairytale gone wrong,” serving as an intricate painting of love in all its forms and evolutions.

Listen to “no handouts” above and stay tuned for more midwxst coming soon.

“Allie X is an astonishing force in songwriting” GQ (UK)

“Individual and boundary pushing in her approach, the songstress is never behind trends, only in front of them” Wonderland

Thursday, October 31st (Los Angeles, CA) – Just in time for Halloween, synth pop savant Allie X releases her highly anticipated Girl With No Face Deluxe album today via Twin Music.

Listen to the Girl With No Face Deluxe HERE

The deluxe album could not come at a more perfect time - the spookiest day of the year. As the veil between worlds thins, the deluxe album grants an immersive experience to the listener to settle into a world of shadows and spirits. The deluxe filled with new tracks and dark wave remixes on some fan favorites from the original album. Like the original, the deluxe was also produced by Allie herself, ensuring that every track reflects her distinctive style and personal journey. The deluxe gives a nod to its mother which is filled with experimental sonics of the early 80’s all while expanding on those foundations with fresh layers and innovative remixes.

“The deluxe release of ‘Girl With No Face’ is a further exploration into darker corners. Songs that didn't feel perfect on the original, now feel appropriate that the world is built and I've been able to play live. This deluxe version includes dark wave remixes from some of my favorite artists, a v cunty song about a Saint with Tove Lo, and my new fav, the song of the fall.. “Bon Voyage.” Allie adds.

Girl With No Face was named as one of the best albums of 2024 so far by CosmopolitanBrooklyn VeganThe AV ClubThe Boston Globe, and more.

Tonight, Allie also kicks off the second leg of her 2024 Weird World Tour in Boston, Massachusetts and she’ll be ending the tour on November 27th in Fort Worth, Texas. She’ll be hitting cities all over the country and visiting markets she’s never played before. Violet Chachki – who featured Allie on the track - “Mistress Violet,” praised as “transfixing and provocative” by NPR – will open on the tour.

See below for itinerary. Tickets can be purchased here: https://us-store.alliex.com/

Over the past decade, Allie X has cemented herself in the pop pantheon as one of music’s sharpest, most insightful, and trendsetting artists, producers, and songwriters, having written hits with luminaries like Troye Sivan, Mitski, BTS, and many more.

TORO Y MOI PARTNERS WITH SALEHE BEMBURY AND CROCS FOR NEW "WALKING IN THE RAIN" MUSIC VIDEO

TOUR WITH PANDA BEAR LAUNCHES FEBRUARY 2025

“Walking In The Rain” video still

What the press is saying about Hole Earth:

Paste Magazine

“Toro y Moi’s inimitable style shines through.”

Consequence

“Erth is a record that blends ingenuity and honesty in a stellar and imaginative way—looking back, but never getting warped by nostalgia.”

WATCH: “Walking In The Rain”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKeBeVMJ2ac

(October 31, 2024) - Toro y Moi releases the video for Hole Erth opener “Walking In The Rain” directed by longtime creative collaborator Harry Israelson. The video is presented in partnership with designer Salehe Bembury (who makes a cameo as a news anchor in the video) and Crocs and features Chaz Bear sporting the new Bembury-designed Crocs Pollex Cypress Boot, the latest in the designer’s long standing partnership with the footwear brand.

“Walking In The Rain” has proven to be a highlight from Hole Erth, an album in which Bear allowed himself the freedom to explore his relationships with both hip hop and the punk music on which he was raised through Toro y Moi for the first time. Fittingly, “Walking In The Rain” first debuted just days ahead of the release of Hole Erth through a session with pioneering rap platform On The Radar.

The video’s release arrives on the heels of Toro y Moi performing his biggest Bay Area headline show to date last week at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley with Aminé and recently announcing a 2025 headline tour with special guest Panda Bear that sees the two artists trekking across North America from February to May of next year. Tickets for the upcoming tour with Panda Bear are available for purchase now here.

Watch the video for “Walking In the Rain” above now and see below for all upcoming Toro y Moi tour dates.

More about Hole Erth:

Hole Erth, Chaz Bear’s eighth full-length studio record as Toro y Moi, is the genre shapeshifter’s most unexpected and bold move to date, with Bear diving headlong into rap-rock, Soundcloud rap and Y2K emo. The album blitzes anthemic pop-punk next to autotuned, melancholic rap – two genres that inform one another now more than ever before — and packs in the most features ever on a Toro y Moi album with contributions from Kevin Abstract, Benjamin Gibbard, Don Toliver, Porches, Kenny Mason and more.

Recorded in the span of a few months across late 2023 and early 2024, Hole Erth’s features built naturally over that short span, with Bear simply reaching out to long-time friends. The sum of Hole Erth’s parts is massive, and demonstrates Bear’s deft abilities as a producer, especially in hip-hop; his role in the culture has long been solidified from previous collaborations with some of rap's biggest trailblazers. It’s a daring left turn for Bear, but the feel is effortless, the make-it-look-easy of a master at work. All told, Bear pushes himself into new sonic ground for the TyM oeuvre while embracing the project’s celebrated, well-known electronic beginnings. Hole Erth is brand new, but somehow perfectly at home.

Ora the Molecule Shares New Track "Løveskatt" || Announces New Album 'Dance Therapy' Out 3/21 On Mute

ORA THE MOLECULE SHARES NEW TRACK “LØVESKATT”

ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM DANCE THERAPY  OUT 3/21 ON MUTE

Today Ora the Molecule returns with the announcement of her sophomore album, Dance Therapy, set for release on March 21, 2025 via Mute. Alongside this exciting news, she has shared the first track from her record, the shimmering and danceable “Løveskatt.”

Listen to it  HERE.
Nora Schjelderup, the creative mind behind the Ora The Molecule moniker, says of the track: “Løveskatt is about being in love and wanting to build a home and create a nest with your loved one. You know, just a basic human need.”
“I feel like this is my debut,” she says of the album that is, in fact, her sophomore outing as Ora The Molecule. “It’s more me.”
It makes sense Schjelderup is drawing a line in the sand. When Ora’s actual debut Human Safari arrived in 2021, there was some murkiness about whether it was a solo project or a fully-functioning trio. In comparison, there’s no question that Dance Therapy is Schjelderup as a lone mastermind, conceiving a new world all her own. On this album, she wrote, recorded, and produced everything, save a handful of co-production contributions from Mathias Risdal.
The driving force behind Dance Therapy stems from Schjelderup’s experience as a DJ, a career that has steadily ascended since the pandemic. She imagined herself being behind the decks, while simultaneously seeing herself in the audience, and asking: “What would I play for that Nora in the crowd to make her day just a little bit better?” Fueled by classic late ‘70s club sounds and Italo-disco, this became the retro-futuristic fever dream of Dance Therapy. All the sounds that bring Schjelderup joy as a DJ and fan, without concern for what others might like or dislike, reframed in Ora The Molecule.
While Ora The Molecule’s music derives inspiration from the magic of communal club spaces, Schjelderup has to indulge her introversion to capture it. As in the past, she decamped to her studio, located in a cabin in the woods outside of Oslo. There, she processed a series of severe losses, the therapy of the album’s title becoming literal.
But couched in what Schjelderup calls the “drag” of Ora The Molecule, this healing process manifested less as confessional songwriting and more as catharsis via fantasy. Dance Therapy became deeply conceptual, with Schjelderup working off a prompt: If we encountered intelligent life in outer space, how would she present herself? “Would I be this mundane shit — I’m constantly heartbroken, I don’t know what I want to do when I grow up,” she says. “Or will I try to rise and be the highest version of myself possible? To be as glamorous and fabulous as I could?”
Schjelderup’s intergalactic vision drew upon a broad array of references. While exploring a “study” of electronic pioneer Mort Garson’s Mother Earth’s Plantasia, she began favoring digital reproductions of various modular synths and theremin. Italo disco star Raffaella Carrà inspired Ora The Molecule becoming a more full-blown character separated from but symbiotic with Schjelderup herself, while the music of Annie Lennox helped shape Dance Therapy’s narrative heft.
The resulting body of work is rife with ebullient, infectious dance music juxtaposed with remarkably complex meditations on grief, mortality and heartbreak - all transmuted through the lens of Ora’s cosmic inner journey to discover her own sense of self, human or otherwise.
And, at the end, Schjelderup has finally created a new transcendence: both Nora and Ora but neither, a deeper sense of herself and the disco superhero she has willed into being, a new identity from everything that came before.

Dance Therapy track listing:

1. Becoming A Human
2. Intergalactic Dance
3. Løveskatt
4. Prince Of The Rhythm
5. Is This Love?
6. Nobody Cares
7. If I Believed
8. Cyber Fever
9. Evig Ung
10. New Years

Neon Nightmare Unleash “They Look Like Shadows” Music Video

The mysterious artist makes a cameo to reveal their identity...

Debut album Faded Dream out tomorrow on 20 Buck Spin, stream it in full now.

Photo by: David Brendan Hall. | Hi-res here.

"Faded Dream' is pitch-perfect..." -  Decibel Magazine

"...none yet have risen to the level of straight up Type O Negative worship that comes at the hands of the mysterious new act, Neon Nightmare." -  Metal Injection

"a definite must-listen" -  Metal Sucks

Born out of the elemental primordium contained in heavy metal’s working class roots, from the war-scarred industrial landscapes of Birmingham to the beat up bars and basements of Brooklyn, Neon Nightmare arrive like a ghost in the night to carry on the tradition.

A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it but unmistakable deadpan satirical strain runs through the debut LP, Faded Dream— out tomorrow on 20 Buck Spin [pre-order].  For all its genuine foreboding and confrontation with real depression, the album never loses itself in the mire or gives up on its predilection for thrill-seeking amusements and sanguine fascination. The sounds conjured have lived in many momentous forms throughout the decades of heavy metal history, and Neon Nightmare are here to continue the cycle.

Neon Nightmare comments, "I made an album.  Listen to it.  Or Don't."  Today, the artist has shared a music video for Faded Dream standout track "They Look Like Shadows", directed by Emmanuella Zachariou.  In the video, the man behind the project finally reveals his identity by making a cameo in the storyline— watch it below.

Watch / share "They Look Like Shadows" official music video

Faded Dream is a synthesis of emotional peaks and valleys and dark brooding atmosphere, evoking a longing angst for a past once colored by adolescent excitement and wonder. Utilizing a foundation of big riffs, crushing studio production immersed in technicolor fantasy and psychedelic ornamentation, plus a dramatic vocalist able to smoothly swing from a spooky gothic baritone to soaring heavy metal melodicism, Faded Dream is the crossroads where Doom, Psych, Shoegaze and Alternative Metal all intersect in a way not heard in years.

Faded Dream is streaming in its entirety ahead of its November 1 release date— check it out on YouTube.

Peter Hook & The Light Announce 13-Date 2025 North American Tour Performing The 'Get Ready' Album From New Order

PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT

ANNOUNCE

2025 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

PERFORMING THE GET READY ALBUM

FROM NEW ORDER

13-DATE TOUR IN MAY AND JUNE 2025 ACROSS THE U.S. AND CANADA INCLUDING MONTREAL, BUFFALO, COLUMBUS, PITTSBURGH, NASHVILLE, CARRBORO, ASHEVILLE, ST. LOUIS, ATLANTA, NEW ORLEANS, TAMPA, ORLANDO AND MIAMI

TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE

“Get Ready was a honeymoon record. Looking back now it was very enjoyable to make, and I think is massively underrated. It did sort the wheat from the chaff and led to a New Order mk2 which played better but had lost a naivety whilst gaining a maturity. Barney and I became a ‘power couple’ in Manchester during the making of the record but, sadly, the old problems recurred when we came to play live. The writing was on the wall from then on. The two of us worked very hard to make this a great record and I think we succeeded. I am looking forward to playing all the tracks, many of which have never been played live before. The Light will shine through … Get Ready!” PETER HOOK

PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT have announced a North American tour for May and June 2025 where they will perform the New Order album Get Ready in its entirety, alongside a selection of the most seminal tracks from the rich back catalogs of both Joy Division and New Order.

Tickets available here: https://peterhookandthelight.live

Get Ready was released in 2001 and reached #2 on the US Billboard Electronic album chart and #6 in the UK album chart. It was the seventh studio album from New Order and was dedicated by the band to Rob Gretton, the manager of both Joy Division and New Order who had died in 1999.

The newly announced dates follow a mammoth run of live shows in 2024, taking in tours of Australia, New Zealand, South America, North America and the UK and Ireland which have seen the band play the Substance albums by Joy Division and New Order in full.

Peter Hook first revisited the seminal Joy Division album Unknown Pleasures back in May 2010 for a commemorative charity concert and has followed it each year by performing subsequent albums from the repertoire of his bands, Joy Division and New Order. His dedication to his back catalogue has now seen him move through Unknown Pleasures, Closer, Still, Movement, Power Corruption & Lies, Low Life, Brotherhood, Technique and Republic to arrive at the Substance albums this year and Get Ready next year. Having toured the albums extensively, the band have now amassed over 800 concerts.

Among the many highlights since he reintroduced his early repertoire to a legion of audiences across the world, both new and old, have been appearances at Benicassim, Primavera Sound, Kendal Calling, Bestival, Victorious and Rebellion, alongside extensive touring in Europe, North and South America, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand to great acclaim from both fans and critics alike.

After select fan and festival screenings this year, the 4K remastered version of Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto’s 2003 anime masterpiece Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem will be screened in cinemas globally for one night only on December 12, 2024 in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing. Says Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, "We're excited to bring Daft Punk's iconic Interstella 5555, now fully remastered in stunning 4K, to cinemas for this one-night-only global event. This is a rare opportunity to experience the film on the big screen, along with accompanying Daft Punk music videos, and we can't wait to share it with audiences everywhere.”

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem was created by Daft Punk and Cédric Hervet in collaboration with Leiji Matsumoto and Toei Animation, and tells the story of the abduction of an alien music band by an evil human character who has dark plans. Essentially an anime visual album, Interstella features the entirety of Daft Punk’s seminal 2001 album Discovery as its soundtrack, including iconic anthems such as “One More Time,” “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,” and “Veridis Quo.” Says Shinji Shimizu of Toei Animation, who produced the film, “‘One More Time’ was playing all over the town at that time! I felt so proud that I wanted to shout to people on the street, ‘We are making its animation now!’” As a visual album, the film was cut into individual music videos, and until this year it has been very rare to see the film in its entirety in cinemas.

To celebrate this global event, Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition will be released in limited physical quantities. This physical edition of Discovery will contain the original Japanese edition artwork, stickers and Daft Club card, which became a true collectors’ item around its original release. The limited release will consist of 5555 gold vinyl5555 numbered CDs, and 25,000 black vinyl.

Along with this special album re-release and film screening comes a limited-edition merch run featuring the Crescendolls, the animated band at the center of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. Items are available now through Daft Punk’s official shop.

“Veridis Quo” a standout track from Discovery was used widely over the summer in social content, and can now be heard in a global advertising campaign for Chanel N°5 called “A rendez-vous” directed by Luca Guadagnino, featuring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Since the track’s original release, it has also been widely sampled in music from artists all over the world including Maluma, G-Dragon, and Jazmine Sullivan, and used in live sets from DJs including John Summit.

For more detailed information on the creation and impact of Interstella: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, Discovery, and “Veridis Quo,” please see here

Earlier this year, Apple Music named Discovery as the #23 best album of all time. It has also landed on best album lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Rhapsody, Resident Advisory, BBC Radio 1, British GQ. Guardian critic Alexis Petridis wrote in 2020 that “Daft Punk were incredibly prescient: play Discovery and it sounds utterly contemporary.”

Discovery has been certified Gold in the US, Platinum in Japan, 2x Platinum in the UK and 3x Platinum in France.

The one night only global screening of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem will be screened in 800+ cinemas in 40+ countries, and tickets will go on sale Wednesday, November 13. More information can be found here

Mike Campbell's (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers) "Heartbreaker," a memoir, due March 18 via Grand Central Publishing

MIKE CAMPBELL’S HEARTBREAKER,
A MEMOIR, DUE MARCH 18 VIA
GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING

cover art
“Campbell is, to put it succinctly, an American treasure.”
“[Campbell] has finally found his voice.”
“[Campbell] has emerged as the keeper of The Heartbreakers’ flame.”October 30, 2024—Celebrated guitarist and songwriter Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac) is set for the release of his memoir,  Heartbreaker , written with Ari Surdoval. The book is due March 18 via Grand Central Publishing.Mike Campbell was the lead guitarist for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers from the band’s inception in 1976 until Petty’s tragic death in 2017. Campbell’s iconic, melodic playing helped form the foundation of the band’s sound, as heard on definitive classics like “American Girl,” “Breakdown,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Learning to Fly” and “Into the Great Wide Open.”Together, Petty and Campbell wrote countless songs, including some of the band’s biggest hits: “Refugee,” “Here Comes My Girl,” “You Got Lucky” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream” among them. From their early days in Florida to their dizzying rise to superstardom to Petty’s acclaimed solo albums Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers, Petty never made a record without Campbell. Their work together is timeless, as are the career-defining hits Campbell co-wrote with Don Henley (“The Boys of Summer”) and with Petty for Stevie Nicks (“Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”).But few know of the less-than-glamorous background from which Campbell emerged, and the sacrifices required. His rise was an at-times grueling dream come true that took him from the very bottom to the absolute top, where Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers would remain for decades, creating an astonishing body of work.“This is my book,” Campbell says. “It’s the story of a poor kid from Jacksonville, Florida who realized a dream through music. It’s a long journey through hard work, dedication and luck. Playing guitar and writing songs has been my inspiration and purpose. It’s a story of hope, redemption and gratitude, a testimonial that dreams can come true if you believe in yourself and follow your truth. It took two years to write and it’s a labor of love. I hope you enjoy the ride!”“Mike Campbell’s Heartbreaker is everything one hopes for in a rock memoir,” notes Ben Schafer, Executive Editor, Grand Central Publishing. “Like the remarkable body of work he co-created with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, it delivers on every level from beginning to end.”Brilliant, soft-spoken and intensely private, Campbell opens up within these pages for the first time, revealing himself to be an astute observer of triumphs, tragedies and absurdities alike, with a songwriter’s eye for the telling detail and a voice as direct and unpretentious as his music.ABOUT THE AUTHORSMike Campbell was the lead guitarist, co-songwriter and co-producer of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. He recorded, co-wrote and toured with the band for over 40 years and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2018 and 2019, Campbell toured the world as the lead guitarist in Fleetwood Mac. He is currently the lead singer and guitarist of Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs, whose most recent critically acclaimed album  Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits  is out now on BMG.
