A Place To Bury Strangers Release "Don't Be Sorry" Video to Celebrate The End Of Their US Tour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 8th, 2024 New from DedstrangeA Place To Bury Strangers celebrate the end of their US Tour with the release of “Don’t Be Sorry” the fifth video from their latest album “Synthesizer”! WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR “DON’T BE SORRY” HERELISTEN TO “DON’T BE SORRY” HEREBUY “SYNTHESIZER” HERELast two tour dates:11/8  Fri Seattle Freakout Festival The Black Angels, Martin Rev,  The Flaming Groovies & Shabazz Palaces11/9 Sat Vancouver Pearl with Dark Dazey & Revolution Above Disorder The video is the latest  in a series of videos made by awesome horror movie directors. This video was directed by Sweden’s Johannes Nyholm, director of modern cult horror classic masterpiece, “Koko-di Koko-da”. This song is about how nothing in life is black and white. You sometimes feel hurt and hatred from certain people and yet somehow still miss them. Also, as time goes on there are always connections lost with family and friends.  You really want them back in your life but can’t always make it work. Anxiety builds with regret.  You continually miss chances to reach out and see them and then there just isn’t any time left.  I feel guilt and worry, wondering what they must think;  if it’s just me who feels this lost connection or if the feeling is mutual. Whatever it is, I would like for these people to know that I miss them and would greet them with open arms if it's ever possible to reconvene. The “Synthesizer” was used to create the abrasive crash sounds that drive home the forcefulness of the chorus “Return Home, Don’t Be Sorry”, contrasting with the intimate and concerned vocal delivery.  The music video is of a love triangle and power game between Life, Death, and Art, starring the Master, the Minion, and the Wife. “We set up a small shadow theater in Johannes' studio in Gothenburg and, inspired by f.x German Expressionist silent films, we invited a few shadow players and amazing actors, carving life out of the darkness.” - Johannes Directed by: Samuel Nyholm, Johannes NyholmAssistant Director: Joel EngbergShadowplay Assistants: Marcus Kristiansson, Henrik Wallgren, Lars Elfman, Pål Eneroth, Mia ErikssonThe Master - Linda FaithThe Minion - Ludvig StynsbergThe Wife - Elle OlaisonThanks to: Jessica Cederholm Album Reviews of Synthesizer The Alternative album Review:The mean streak of talent that has distinguished A Place to Bury Strangers continues unabated. Vicious and vivid, they continue to dominate the loudest corner of the music world, reminding us why we fell in love with rock music. Under The Radar album review 8.5"Fusing elements of noise rock, electronic dark wave, and even goth-tinged post punk, A Place to Bury Strangers have created a record that covers all bases. Whether that be the full throttle, sonic assault of opener 'Disgust,' similarly sculpted aural attack that’s 'Bad Idea,' pulsating throb of 'Have You Ever Been In Love,' or extra-sensory collision course of 'Fear of Transformation,' which combines the whole lot, Synthesizer proves to be another worthy addition to the band’s canon of sonic expeditions." - Under The Radar Paste album review"Ackermann’s mission—to defend his beloved gear that supplements creativity instead of supplanting it—gives shape and purpose to the album. For a notoriously loud band, A Place to Bury Strangers sound clear-headed on Synthesizer." - Paste"When [Ackermann] unleashes [his guitar], it’s a white-hot geyser, shocking and powerful. The best songs on Synthesizer are studies in contrast. They save the full potential of the band’s chaos and noise for the moments when it feels most earned." - Paste FLOOD album review"Each song on the noise-rockers’ seventh LP is distinct in style and substance, allowing Oliver Ackermann to tap into his emotional self as if looking through a slowly twisted kaleidoscope." - FLOOD All Music album reviewSynthesizer delivers the noise for which A Place to Bury Strangers is known and quite a bit more. Post-Trash ReviewA Place To Bury Strangers’ - currently consisting of Oliver Ackermann, John Fedowitz, and Sandra Fedowitz - nail everything from top to bottom “to a tee” on their latest album, Synthesizer. With an insistence to continually experiment, a wide-ranging combination of styles, mesmerizing vocals, louder-than-hell guitars, and mayhem-filled atmospheres, the record continues to show why APTBS remain one of the best. Album opener “Disgust” is a fantastic combination of noise rock, synth-pop, and punk. Harsh guitars screech and howl as if they are in agonizing pain. There is just something so appealing about the wild, weird, and frantic energy of this song, that continues throughout the entire record.   About SynthesizerSynthesizer is the title of A Place to Bury Strangers' seventh album. It is also a physical entity, a synthesizer made specifically for A Place to Bury Strangers’ seventh album. A synthesizer that you too, can own (in part), if you buy the record on vinyl. “It’s pretty messed up, chaotic,” says frontman Oliver Ackermann, “But it feels really human.” In an era of making music where so little is DIY and so much is left up to AI, to never setting foot in a practice room or a home studio, making something that feels deliberately chaotic, messy, and human, is entirely the point. Synthesizer is a record that celebrates sounds that are spontaneous and natural, the kind of music that can only come from collaboration and community.  The writing sessions for Synthesizer started in 2022 in the band’s Queens studio, shortly after the release of See Through You. A Place to Bury Strangers re-formed with a new lineup, Ackermann still at the helm, now featuring friends John and Sandra Fedowitz. This new iteration of the band was inspiring for Ackermann, “It felt like a fresh new thing,” he says, “I wanted to write songs everyone was excited about playing.” Indeed, the sense of connectivity is everywhere on the record. Synthesizer very much feels like a record of reinvention, of taking a carefully honed aesthetic and sound and cracking it wide open, gutting it, reimagining it. And of course, to ever so slightly reinvent one’s sound, one must also build a new instrument, thus again the synth in question. The resulting record is one that is romantic, colorful, loud as hell.  In practice, Synthesizer is a study on walls of noise and sound. It explores what it means to twist and bend gear to its limits, to search for what Ackermann jokingly and also not jokingly calls the “most epic sound journey.” Take “Fear of Transformation,” as one such offering, a snarling gothic techno punk track that feels like getting body slammed by a wave out at sea. Here, the synthesizer has an almost alien effect. It is sweaty and strident. Ackermann views the song as a conversation with the devil, to break out whatever cage of fear that you’re inhabiting and do something kind of artfully evil. Elsewhere, like on “Have You Ever Been in Love,” the vibe is hypnotic, easy to get swept away. The song was written by everyone in the band, born out of its tribal drum beat, its open spaces. It was written quickly, “In a moment, in an afternoon,” Ackermann says, “Maybe even in an hour.” It felt exciting to write, exciting to make. And it is beautiful to listen to, the spotlight on Sandra’s beautiful vocals. It is unsteady like new love is unsteady. Scary like taking a chance on someone is scary.  Synthesizer, which is out digitally October 4 and physically October 25 via Ackermann’s Dedstrange label, is one of A Place to Bury Strangers’ most live sounding records to date. This is a band that is meant to be witnessed in a live setting, where the songs take on a new energy in the presence of a crowd. “Disgust,” the record’s lead single, captures that live essence perfectly. The song is all open strings, so that way Ackermann can perform it with his fist raised in the air, so he can play it live with one hand. It’s a tongue-in-cheek move, almost as tongue-in-cheek as the decision to start the song with a high-pitched battle cry from the guitars, which Ackermann jokes is to “turn people off from listening to the record.” That playful approach to making music and intentionality around live performance makes sense in the historical context of the band. Ackermann founded the storied DIY space (and now effects pedal factory) Death By Audio. DBA, as a venue, had a collaborative, creative spirit of chaos and collectivity. That essence appears all over the band’s work. “We’re artists,” Ackermann says, “Going to shows and bringing that imperfect and beautiful DIY ethos is important.” Imperfect and beautiful — that’s a good way to sum up Synthesizer. It is a raw collection of songs, wild and loud and fucked up just like the instrument itself.   Synthesizer US Tour:US Tour:November 8, 2024 - Friday - Seattle, WA - Freakout Festival ^November 9, 2024 - Saturday - Vancouver, BC - Pearl & With YHWH Nailgun^ With The Black Angels, Martin Rev, The Black Lips & Shabazz Palaces

Les Rallizes Dénudés announces new archival release 'YaneUra Sept. ‘80' out Feb. 21 on Temporal Drift

Les Rallizes Dénudés announces new archival release YaneUra Sept. ‘80  out Feb. 21 on Temporal Drift

STREAM: "夜の収穫者たち / Reapers of the Night" -
Bandcamp

Today, LA label Temporal Drift has announce a newly discovered, previously unknown
recording from Les Rallizes Dénudés - the album, YaneUra Sept. ‘80  will be released on Feb. 21, 2025. You can pre-order it now. It was recorded on September 11, 1980 at YaneUra in Shibuya, Tokyo, featuring guitarist Fujio Yamaguchi, formerly of proto-punk bad boys Murahachibu.

Also:
* Mixed and mastered from the original tapes by Rallizes member Makoto Kubota
* Official recording fully authorized by The Last One Musique
* Liner notes by Manabu Yuasa
* Available on “Galaxy Ice” color vinyl

While Les Rallizes Dénudés’ YaneUra Oct. ‘80 (DRFT13) was being prepared for release, a mysterious tape was unearthed. Discovered amid the piles of recordings left behind by frontman Takashi Mizutani, the undated cassette contained no recording info, and was referred to as “Unknown” during the archival process.

There was no mistaking the sound that was heard on the tape, however: the twin guitar interplay between Mizutani and Fujio Yamaguchi, the former Murahachibu guitarist whose addition to the Rallizes ushered in a new era for the band. This particularly clean recording was initially thought to be a forgotten studio recording, as corroborated by ex-members and others close to the band.

Ultimately, upon further research and meticulous listening, it was determined that the tape in fact contained a board recording of a set played at YaneUra in Shibuya, Tokyo, on September 11, 1980. The raw intensity of this performance feels far removed from the tight sound heard on YaneUra Oct. ‘80, which occurred just a month later.

Fittingly titled YaneUra Sept. ‘80, this album begins with “Flame of Ice,” which heats up considerably as the song reaches the middle point. Then, coming down like an avalanche are wilder than usual versions of “Reapers of the Night” and “The Night, Assassin’s Night,” followed by “The Last One.”

YaneUra Sept. ‘80 captures a flashpoint in the band’s Fujio-era lineup, which ultimately lasted only half a year or so. At the same time, it is bursting with the bottomless potential that the 1980s Les Rallizes Dénudés possessed deep within.

Midge Ure Releases Live Album Today + Cruel World Appearance

Midge Ure Releases Live Album Today: Midge Ure Royal Albert Hall 04.10.23  27-Track 70th Birthday Celebration, Featuring Career Spanning Material  Cruel World Festival In Pasadena, CA May 17 November 8, 2024 -  New York, NY:  Midge Ure releases a live album today Midge Ure Royal Albert Hall 04.10.23. Ure celebrated his seventieth birthday in October of last year with a one-night only concert at the iconic venue celebrating his entire catalogue including playing Ultravox's Vienna album in full. Joined by his long-time Band Electronica and special guests, cellist Caroline Dale (London Metropolitan Orchestra, Peter Gabriel, David Gilmour, Sinéad O’Connor), and composer Ty Unwin who worked with Midge on his 2017 Orchestrated album.
Midge talks about the recording: "This album was never meant to happen. The restrictions involved when playing a prestigious venue like the Royal Albert Hall were so great that recording audio or video was out of the question, or so I thought. Modern mixing desks have the capability to multitrack record these days so we tend to record most shows, so finding out we had a recording of that magical evening was a relief. A deal was struck with the venue and this is the result. A little moment captured forever."
Listen to 'Sleepwalk' on YouTube:   Midge Ure has also been added to the 2025 Cruel Fest Line-Up, taking place in Pasadena, California May 17. "Having seen most of my musician friends play Cruel World I was feeling a little ‘left out’ but with the success of my ‘Band in a Box Tour’ of North America this year I felt this was the right performance format and the perfect time to step up and play some of those Ultravox, Visage and solo tunes.” He adds "‘Band in a box’ is me and long time keyboard sidekick Charlie Round Turner jumping between guitars and synths, loops and samples to bring the audience the sound and feel those classic tunes deserve."
Midge Ure is still hosting his Backstage Lockdown Club giving fans exclusive access to a series of intimate, musical events on a monthly subscription basis.

Touché Amore “The Apollo Programme Was A Hoax” Cover HERE

Touché Amore comment: “There’s only a handful of records that are so singular and unique that few ever attempt to replicate. ‘The Shape of Punk to Come’ is the highest echelon of what’s being described. Over twenty years later this album stands alone, so, when Dennis approached us about covering a track, we knew we were up for the task. We chose the closing track because we heard elements of what TA could pull from to create a new song out of the foundation they had laid. Our instructions were to make it our own, and luckily with the song being so avant-garde and unique, we found it inviting. Thank you to Refused for the opportunity and to you for listening.”

Refused also unearth the previously unseen music video for “The Deadly Rhythm”: WATCH HERE

As the band prepares to take their final bow, their North American farewell tour has quickly sold out in Vancouver, NYC, Toronto, Seattle, and Portland, with low ticket warnings throughout multiple other cities. Artists On The Shape Of Punk To Come Obliterated

Walter Schreifels of Quicksand :  “I’m honored that Quicksand was asked to be on this compilation. Liberation Frequency and The Shape Of Punk To Come are monuments to heavy music with a message and aesthetic that transcend the genre.”

Anaiah Lei of Zulu:  “I’ve always been a Refused fan and even had the chance to tour with them back in 2012 with my old band. This record was definitely top 10 in my list of favorite hardcore albums and it was an honor to get to play a song off it. Especially this one because I’m like, y’all made this in the mid 90s? Way ahead of its time!”

Snapcase:  "We were super excited when Refused asked us to take part in this project and it was a quick decision to choose Summerholidays vs Punkroutine. It’s collectively one of our favorite songs on the record and presented us with a unique challenge to get outside our comfort zone while mixing in elements of our own musical identity. Thanks for including us!"

Sami of Gel :  “Refused was one of the first shows I went to and the first time I was up front. It was a charismatic performance and rowdy crowd and it definitely contributed to my love of heavier music and the live shows that demonstrate the energy of the music authentically.”

JUSTICE NOMINATED FOR TWO GRAMMY AWARDS

JUSTICE NOMINATED FOR TWO GRAMMY AWARDS

LEGENDARY ELECTRONIC DUO RECEIVE NODS IN HONOR OF HYPERDRAMA, THEIR FIRST ALBUM IN 8 YEARS

Justice Hyperdrama artwork by Thomas Jumin

French electronic standard-bearers Justice have been nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best Dance/Electronic Album for Hyperdrama, the duo’s first new album in eight years, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Neverender (feat. Tame Impala),” which just entered the top 25 at Alternative Radio. The announcement follows the band taking the award for Best International Tour at France’s NRJ Awards last week.

The nominations arrive on the heels Justice completing their massive sold out US tour, which included a sold out performance at Los Angeles’s iconic Hollywood Bowl that marked the band’s biggest North American headlining show to date. The duo initially unveiled their dazzling new live production at this year’s Coachella, which was the subject of a recent documentary. The show has gone on to yield rave reviews across the globe, including a five star review from Rolling Stone for their rapturously received Glastonbury set.

Select press for Hyperdrama

"It’s no surprise that Justice has largely outlasted some of their early peers, yet to produce a record this poignant and realized at this point only justifies their staying power.” - VARIETY

“Hyperdrama, a 13-track album with guest appearances by Miguel, Thundercat and Tame Impala, riffs on its longtime aesthetic — melodic hooks, funky bass lines, the occasional blown-out fuzzy beat — and stretches out in fresh ways.” - NEW YORK TIMES

"Its 13 tracks add new levels of warmth, brightness and sensuality to the group’s sound while marking the most psychedelic terrain of the Justice catalog thus far. No skips, no notes." - BILLBOARD

“Proof that they can evolve in tandem with the modern era without losing their grip on the idiosyncratic brand of pop retro-futurism that made them so beloved in the first place.” - RESIDENT ADVISOR

“Seventeen years after their debut with 2007’s Cross, Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé continue to push the boundaries of their established sound” - PAPER

“Jarring, ambitious, complex, and conceptual, Hyperdrama has Justice’s hallmark textures and layers but feels more sophisticated.” - SPIN
