Surfer Blood Shares "Matter of Time" Video & Announces US Tour

Surfer Blood Shares "Matter of Time"  Video

Snowdonia Out February 3rd via Joyful Noise ( pre-order ),
US Tour Kicks Off January 27th
Surfer Blood's fourth studio album, Snowdonia, is due out February 3rd via Joyful Noise Recordings. A sonic departure for the band, it's their first release since 2010's Astro Coast that lead singer John Paul Pitts has written and mixed alone.
While much of Snowdonia finds the band tackling heavy themes like mortality and aging through longer, more complex songs, "Matter of Time" is a classic Surfer Blood pop song, keeping things upbeat while Pitts explores the decision of when to get married. Its accompanying video is lighthearted; the high school yearbook theme inspired by the fact that all four current members -- Pitts, drummer Tyler Schwarz, bassist Lindsey Mills, and guitarist Michael McCleary -- attended the same high school in West Palm Beach, Florida. You can watch the video via  YouTube , and see below for a side-by-side comparison of the video's "yearbook" and the band's real-life yearbook photos. In addition to "Matter of Time" and previously released single " Six Flags in F or G ," Snowdonia features the most narrative and autobiographical material Pitts has ever written, with "Carrier Pigeon." Shortly after longtime Surfer Blood guitarist Thomas Fekete was diagnosed with cancer, Pitts’ mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and began undergoing chemotherapy. Inspired by her illness, “Carrier Pigeon” embodies his attempts to reconcile the love that he has for his parents with not always loving how they choose to see the world.

Other tracks on the record attempt to deal with aging in a more playful way. “Taking Care of Eddy” was written about Pitts' girlfriend's great uncle, Eddy, an 84-year-old who suffered stunted development after a car accident as a child. As a result, he thinks and acts like an eight year old, has Parkinson's disease, and can't get around by himself, but maintains a childlike sense of wonder. While taking care of him hasn't been easy, Pitts tried to inject some of Eddy's playfulness into the song.

Snowdonia was written specifically with the band's current lineup and new strengths in mind: wanting to play up McCleary and Mills' vocal skills, Pitts wrote layers of vocals into almost every track and added call-and-response parts between himself and Mills throughout the album. With enormous attention to detail, the eight tracks on Snowdonia make the album Surfer Blood's most ambitious release yet.

Surfer Blood kicks off a US tour in support of Snowdonia in January -- see below for upcoming dates.

QUOTES FROM THE EPISODE:"In the post-modern music world, irony is allowed. So you can be the coolest French band in the world and suddenly say, 'D'you know what? I'm really into Phil Collins.' And everybody sort of goes, 'Hey that's kind of post-modern! We'll accept that, we'll go with that.' But if you'd said that in 1985, somebody would've punched you!" - Ben Watt on irony in music

‘GREATEST HITS AND MORE!!’ UK TOUR SPRING 2017
With a special video contribution by band co-founder Kevin Godley
****I’M NOT IN LOVE / DREADLOCK HOLIDAY / THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE / RUBBER BULLETS / THE WALL STREET SHUFFLE / I’M MANDY FLY ME / THE DEAN AND 1 / ART FOR ART’S SAKE****
10cc earned critical respect and public acclaim for such singles as Donna (1972), Rubber Bullets (1973), The Dean and I (1973) and Wall Street Shuffle (1974), which showcased the band members' talents as musicians, singers, songwriters and masters of the studio.
10cc have 11 Top 10 UK singles to their name - including No 1 hits I’m Not In Love (1975) – covered by The Pretenders and Fun Lovin’ Criminals – and Dreadlock Holiday (1978). Others included Art For Art’s Sake (1975) and Good Morning Judge (1977) – which both reached No 5, The Things We Do For Love (1976) and I’m Mandy Fly Me (1976) - both reaching No 6 and Life Is A Minestrone (1975) – No 7.
Such is the enduring nature of their music that movie-makers can’t resist including the band in soundtracks, with I’m Not in Love featuring in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2014 blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, while Dreadlock Holiday was used in The Social Network (2010), about the founding of Facebook.
The band continues to work internationally with headline tours in Australia and New Zealand last autumn, a tour of Belgium and Holland in March, dates in Japan and summer shows in Denmark, Norway and Germany.

Brooklyn Orchestral Pop Band All Boy/All Girl share video for "Development". taken from new album Slagroom

BROOKLYN ORCHESTRAL POP BAND ALL BOY/ALL GIRL SHARE STRIKING, GORY VIDEO FOR "DEVELOPMENT" SLAGROOM  OUT NOW VIA BROOKLYN'S GRIND SELECT, PINK VINYL AVAILABLE HERE
[image error]VIDEO: "Development"/YouTube + The Grey Estates
all boy/all girl had its modest beginnings when theatrical vocalist and front woman Danielle Lovier first started playing music with experimental composer and bassist Nicholas Rahn in Philadelphia in 2010. When the two began playing in Rittenhouse Square Park for spare change, there was an instant, explosive chemistry. After touring the US for three months as a duo, they found themselves living in New York City, writing and recording an EP of contemporary-classical-leaning pop songs.
The 7-piece band assembled organically around those arrangements with soprano vocalist Jessie Rogowski, guitarist Josh Curry, drummer Joey Campanella, cellist Susan Mandel and violist Hannah Levinson coming into the fold. The epoch of all boy/all girl soon took form, their name derived from the Arthur Russell song. The group toured extensively supporting 2013’s Tiny Iglesia and 2015’s Trophy EP with a vigor noticed by their audiences in the US and abroad. Channeling her formative days in Syracuse’s hardcore scene, Lovier’s unhinged performances quickly became a highlight of the septet’s live output.Last January, all boy/all girl built a rehearsal space in a vacant basement beneath a pawn shop in the lower east side of Manhattan. They constructed a room where there was none, a creative workshop for themselves where their abstract version of pop music could be nurtured and honed. In this room, they would begin chipping away at the songs that would become Slagroom, their second full-length album and the most unwavering and dynamic material the band has created to date.
Slagroom, meaning ‘whipped cream’ in Dutch, plays out like the cover art, a gleaming, saccharine dollop in a claustrophobic soiled cubicle. It was recorded and mixed by experimental/noise purveyors, Machines With Magnets, in Pawtucket, RI. On opening track “Living Room” Lovier contemplates a stagnant routine asking, “When we were dying in the living room, did we feel anything at all? Were we even alive when we were lying in the watered lawn?” Meanwhile, guitar and drums navigate seasick passages, regularly establishing and breaking harmonic and metric form before locking in to a wholesome 4/4 pop groove.
Elsewhere on the album, tracks such as “Pigeon” and “Threnody” go to brooding and unapologetic places. Rogowski’s vaulting melodies shimmer above oblique harmonic movement while Mandel and Levinson contribute lush textures interwoven with nascent counterpoint. The group shifts from these austere moments to transcendent pop hooks in an unexpectedly authentic manner. Ending on “Food Court”, a song whose lyrics recall a lonely moment at an Arby’s in a shopping mall, all boy/all girl’s often surreal output comes firmly down to earth, the record wrapping up on an intimate and contemplative note. The  new video for "Development"  has premiered at  the Grey Estates , who say, "the video is as colorful and striking as their music. Written, filmed, edited and directed by Donald Borenstein and Matt Honor, the video sees things get a little messy, all the while the band's beautiful track plays out. " Slagroom  is out now on Grind Select, limited edition vinyl available here.***[image error]

Nelly Furtado announces the release of new album "The Ride" out 31st March 2017

GLOBAL SUPERSTAR NELLY FURTADO ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF HER SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM 'THE RIDE' – OUT 31ST MARCH 2017(View the album trailer  HERE )LISTEN TO "PIPE DREAMS" EXCLUSIVELY ON THE FADER!(Stream  HERE )
584e8fb9a9f061481543609.jpg "[Pipe Dreams] it's a song to vibe out to, courtesy of the grooviest organ ever, and gives an idea of what to expect from her upcoming album." – FaderRolling Stone calls Furtado's "Pipe Dreams" 'Dreamy' and 'Tender' – Rolling Stone
With a career spanning two decades, five studio albums, over 16+ million records sold world-wide, and a plethora of accolades, Nelly Furtado is a proven chart-topping luminary.  Furtado is now readying her sixth studio album,  The Ride , due out 31st March 2017 via her imprint, Nelstar Entertainment, through 10th St. Entertainment/Eleven Seven Music Group (see the full track listing below).
Recently,  The Fader , exclusively premiered a track from the upcoming album, "Pipe Dreams," (listen to it  HERE ), calling it "a song to vibe out to, courtesy of the grooviest organ ever," while  Rolling Stone  called the song "tender" and"dreamy."  For  The Ride , including "Pipe Dreams," Furtado teamed up with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Explosions in the Sky, Blondie, Erykah Badu, Franz Ferdinand, etc.). "It was kind of cool, because I'm super pop – I really gravitate toward pop melodies when I write – but John is really interesting and might rearrange my pop song into more of a punk arrangement, nothing like what I would do," Furtado said about collaborating with Congleton to The Fader.  Brooklyn Vegan praised the collaboration on "Pipe Dreams," saying, "...you can definitely hear her and Congleton's styles clashing on it (in a good way)." As for what fans can expect on this new album, view the album trailer HERE.
Furtado's successes have been massive and fast-paced. In 2000 she released her debut album Whoa, Nelly!, which earned Furtado her first Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "I'm Like A Bird." Every three years that followed she would deliver a new project, including Folklore in 2003, her Pop smash Loose in 2006 (which spawned four #1 singles—"Promiscuous," "Maneater," "Say It Right," and "All Good Things (Must Come to an End")—her international debut Mi Plan, and her return to mainstream waters with The Spirit Indestructible in 2012. In addition to the massive hits from Loose, songs like "Turn off the Light," "****on the Radio (Remember the Days)," "Powerless (Say What You Want)," also garnered global acclaim. Furtado's songs have shape-shifted pop music as we know it.
After 2012's The Spirit Indestructible, Furtado made a concerted effort to take a well-deserved hiatus from the spotlight.  "What happens when you have a successful album and/or career, is you go, go, go, more is more, yes yes yes and no time for no," says Furtado.  "That took its toll on me and didn't flow with my natural rhythm of who I am."  Needing a clean slate, Furtado decided to dial back her life. "I was having a crazy day and I drove to my friend's record store and I said to him, 'This is going to sound crazy but can I work at your store?'" Furtado recalls. "I started doing a lot of things I always wanted to do—like sewing, ceramic and playwriting classes. I guess I was trying to distill my life a little bit.  I was living in fast forward since I was 19. Through unstrapping and layering down and simplifying my life, I found joy again in art," says Furtado about discovering the inspiration for her forthcoming album.
584e9062803551481543778.jpgThe Ride serves as a culmination of Furtado's journey, living life through experiences that oftentimes felt like a carnival ride you get on and sometimes have to get off. "I let experience be the most important thing," Furtado explains.  Experiences birthed several songs which found their way onto the new album.  There's the pensive "Pipe Dreams," which was written on a water walk in Kenya, where Furtado learned how Kenyan women find water for their villages.  A trip to Chile to visit her best friend also proved to be fortuitous, as Furtado penned "Magic" while sipping on wine in Santiago and reflecting on unrequited love.  The true glue of The Ride is songwriter and producer John Congleton of the band The Paper Chase. The two met through Annie Clark of St. Vincent and had a musical chemistry from the moment Nelly entered his Dallas studio. Together they formulated the heart of the album, including the emotional "Flatline," "Cold Hard Truth," "Paris Sun," and the apropos "Carnival Games." "It's kind of like the oh fuck moment," she says of the latter track. "You're kind of at a carnival and it looks fun, but fundamentally what is actually going on?" Working with John allowed Nelly to experiment with new sounds and arrangements, leaning on Congleton's punk beginnings.
"It's okay to maybe get off The Ride once in a while," Furtado says, "and reflect on everything you've experienced."  The result is a bold comeback project, signifying the return of an artist who lives unapologetically and is geared to bring everyone back on The Ride with her.

Sometimes it was a light beauty, sometimes dark, but it was impossible to be in that auditorium and not feel moved." - TINY MIX TAPES "Sigur Rós used their music to sooth, challenge, and uplift those in attendance at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre last night, showing that over 20 years in, they remain a group who are true to themselves, giving so much to fans in the process."EXCLAIM "Sigur Rós is more than a band, it is a memory palace." - MOUNTAIN XPRESS
