TOY have shared the brand new, Bunny Kinney-directed video to Another Dimension, the latest track to be taken from their recently released album, Clear Shot. Released in late October on Heavenly Recordings, Clear Shot, recorded with producer David Wrench towards the end of 2015 at Eve Studio, is the band’s third album.
Taking inspiration from an esoteric blend – Radiophonic Workshop, Comus, the scores of Bernard Herrmann, John Barry and Ennio Morricone Fairport, COUM, Acid House, Incredible String Band, The Langley Schools Project, The Wicker Man soundtrack and even the direction behind Electric Eden, Rob Young’s book about the development of folk music in the U.K. – Clear Shot is their most coherent and confident album to date; lushly cinematic, shot through with their most expressive melodies thus far and coated with a ‘sheen’ courtesy of Chris Cody (Beach House, Smith Westerns, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) who mixed the album in LA with some of the reverbs and vocal processors used on Purple Rain.
TOY previously released their self-titled debut in 2012 and cemented their reputation as the best alternative rock band in the country with Join the Dots at the end of 2013. Such was the reception to Join The Dots that TOY toured their second record for nigh-on two years, culminating in their biggest London show yet at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in April 2014.
They have also recently made their Spellbound EP available digitally. The EP, featuring Spellbound, News From Nowhere, Poor Jack & Love Seeker, was recorded during the band’s album sessions and was initially available as a limited edition CD with initial quantities of the album purchased via UK independent record stores.

.Winter is a dreamy indie rock band whose sound was conceived in Boston. Beginning as a collaborative effort between Samira Winter and Nolan Eley, their first recordings culminated into the 2012 EP entitled Daydreaming. Winter aspires to connect others with their inner child by making blissful, beautiful and ethereal pop music.

Previously unreleased b-side “Baby Are You In?” from Kristin Kontrol is available today via all DSP’s worldwide from Sub Pop [link here].Kristin says of the track, “"Baby Are You In?" was recorded during the X-Communicate sessions and I really regret not including it on the album. It was super fun to make - Kurt Feldman and I let loose on the production, trying to pin down that nebulous aggression from Evil Heat-era Primal Scream, but let it cork off the party at the end. It’s my favorite to perform live; I really feel the lyrics…’I wake up with the sun on my face, I call this moment "morning grace.' I wanna kiss the light cuz it's one day later, the night's lost its tenure, I slept off my failure.’”Kristin Kontrol will perform on Tuesday, December 13th at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge with special guests Starchild & The New Romantic and NOIA. Tickets are on sale now [link here].
Kristin Kontrol’s X-Communicate was released in late May to mass critical praise. Highlighting the singular quality of Kristin’s voice and songwriting, the album moves effortlessly between tempo and mood, using genre rather than adhering to it. "There are sparkly synth ballads and icy New Wave tunes, and Welchez finds her inner Kate Bush behind the microphone. But it all makes sense because the whole record is so relentlessly, meticulously catchy that it coheres in ways few albums this varied could," says the Los Angeles Times. Pitchfork also praised X-Communicate for its “sleek synth pop,” crowning its title track Best New Song. Idolator called it one of “the best pop albums of 2016.”"She’s hitting reset, forcing us to rise to the occasion and see female creators as something more than our preconceptions,” said MTV News. Stereogum observed, "X-Communicate and the evolution into Kristin Kontrol show Welchez becoming an absolute machine when it comes to hooks." “Yes, this is a dance-pop record, but think a modern spin on Kate Bush’s The Hounds of Love, Siouxsie and the Banshees’ Tinderbox,” noted Under the Radar.X-Communicate is available now on CD / LP / DL / CASS from Sub Pop [link here]. Purchases of the album through megamart.subpop.com will receive the limited “Loser” edition on blue vinyl (while supplies last).

"Raucous." - Brooklyn Vegan June Summer and his brother Augie Pink left Puerto Rico to come to Miami and start a band in 2010. The following years saw the freshly formed Plastic Pinks share a stage with Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, La Luz, Natural Child, and AJ Davila (Davila 666), who produced their first LP "Sunnyside Rabbits," (Burger Records, 2015).
The band has a knack for catchy ad-libs, but also their mastery of infectious melodies that surface from the fuzz of their raw instrumentation. They describe their sound as 'rad city sticky pop,' and it suits the beach just as well as a rowdy dive bar.
Earlier this year, June had to undergo a life-threatening back surgery, causing the band to not be able to perform for a couple of months. This didn't stop the musicians, who went on a recording binge of 24 songs, with new band mates, Trevor Mustoe (drums), Dane Giordano (bass), and Rod Woolf (lead guitar). The band paired it down to 6 tracks, and enrolled Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) to mix the EP. "El Animal" will came out last month via Ghost Drag Records.
They're currently on tour, with dates opening for Broncho.

elbow Premiere "Magnificent (She Says)." Confirmed Seventh Studio Album "Little Fictions" Due February 3rd, 2017

ELBOW ANNOUNCE SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM“LITTLE FICTIONS”
SET FOR WORLDWIDE RELEASE ON FEBRUARY 3, 2017
DEBUTS LEAD SINGLE “MAGNIFICENT (SHE SAYS)” TODAY!

“MAGNIFICENT (SHE SAYS)”
iTunes | Apple Music | Spotify [TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6] elbow makes a welcomed return with their seventh studio album, set for worldwide release on 3rd February 2017.Today, the band released the first track “Magnificent (She Says)”, taken from their highly anticipated forthcoming album “Little Fictions.” Guitarist Mark Potter believes that “Magnificent (She Says)” is “the song people have been waiting for us to write” and its joyous music clearly had an effect on lyricist and singer Guy Garvey who reveals that the title line was “the first thing that came to my lips” as the music developed. As a taster for the new album, the track marks out the scale and ambition of “Little Fictions,” an album that encompasses a desire from all four members to make a record that pulls no punches and follows it instincts. In conversation about the track the band state that they were determined to “let the song go where it needed to, not to back out of the big chorus because that was what it needed.” “Magnificent (She Says)” is available now on all digital platforms. Listen to the song here.
“Little Fictions” was recorded in Scotland and Manchester and sees the band collaborate with the string players of The Hallé Orchestra, the Hallé Ancoats Community Choir, members of London Contemporary Voices and session drummer Alex Reeves. As with the previous three elbow albums it was produced by band member Craig Potter.
“Little Fictions” is emphatically a band album. Having written individually for its chart-topping predecessor, “The Take Off and Landing of Everything,” sessions this time were collective affairs, with all four members gathered initially in a house in Scotland before moving to Guy’s attic in Prestwich and finalizing recordings in the familiar setting of Blueprint studios, Salford.“Little Fictions” is an upbeat album. All the band talk of the sessions being ‘joyful’, Mark summarizes it as “the sound of four people who love what they do and each other,” of an album that came into being naturally and, at times even unconsciously. Lead single “Magnificent (She Says)” was embraced for the joyous, thrilling piece of music it is, positive and outward looking. Mark never even considered his audible switch towards electric guitars, most notable on the psychedelic lushness of “All Disco,” until the very end of the process.
The departure of drummer Richard Jupp prior to commencing the writing and recording process in earnest saw early sessions characterized by new approaches to rhythm, with the band utilizing percussive noises, sampling and loops to build tracks. The grooves that run through much of the album, from the go-go beats of “Gentle Storm” through the jagged trip hop of “Kindling” to the soulful “Firebrand & Angel” represent both the band’s widest musical palette and a newfound sense of experimentation borne from both necessity and desire. That desire fuelled the title track, an eight-minute piece that is epic without at any point feeling excessive. As shorthand for the album it is perfect, crossing musical genres and experimenting with sound in ways that demonstrate the confidence and enthusiasm of the band throughout the recording process.
“Little Fictions” is, therefore, more than just yet another brilliant elbow album. In many ways it marks the start of a new chapter for the band, characterized by a rediscovery of shared purpose in doing the thing that has always brought them together, the place that Mark describes as ‘the creative space where we all meet’.
“Little Fictions” is released by Concord Records in North America on 3rd February 2017 on Gatefold Vinyl, CD and Digital Download. Those pre-ordering the album digitally will receive “Magnificent (She Says)” immediately. A special edition boxset of the album containing a bespoke book, CD LP and digital download of the album is also available in limited quantities exclusively on the elbow store .
