Agnes Obel, 2017 North American Tour
EUROPE'S ENIGMATIC AGNES OBEL ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR FOR EARLY 2017
New Music Video for "It's Happening Again" Premiered Exclusively on NPR's "First Watch"(Click here to view)

Having just released Citizen of Glass, praised by the UK's Q as "a thing of quiet wonder" and by America's Mother Jones as "a beautiful album likely to soothe the dark night of the soul," Agnes Obel will headline a four-week North American tour that kicks off February 28 in Montreal, Canada and wraps in Ann Arbor, MI on March 31. Tickets for most dates go on sale this Friday, November 18; log on to www.agnesobel.com for complete ticketing info.
In addition, Obel's new music video for the new track "It's Happening Again" was premiered on NPR's "First Watch." The animated piece, created/directed by Alex Bruel Flagstad who has directed several of Obel's videos, is a kaleidoscopic journey through dimensions of colors, patterns, twinkling lights and other celestial images, all perfect for Obel's ethereal voice and wistful harmonies. The video can be viewed here.
Marking her concert return to North America for the first time in two years, Obel's dates are in support of Citizen of Glass (10-21-16/Play In Again Sam), her first concept album and most ambitious work to date. The title comes from the German concept of the Gläserner bürger, the "human or glass citizen," that deals with the individual's level of privacy. Rooted in today's overshare-heavy age of social media, Obel has woven this concept, lyrically and musically, into the album's ten tracks, as they examine the provocative topics of transparency and diminishing privacy, a world of "glass people" who bare all via social media, and the affect that has on us emotionally and creatively.
"I wanted to write about the transparency and the difference between secrets and confession," said Obel to The Irish Times, who uses social networking platforms solely for work-related topics. "There's a strong sense these days - these decades, even - that we're all under surveillance. Secrets can be very good to have and to keep."
For this tour, Obel will be joined onstage by Charlotte Danhier (cello, loops, vocals, mellotron, drums, uke), Catherine de Blasio (drums, vocals, bass clarinet, percussion), and Kristina Koropecki (cello, loops, vocals, percussion). Fans can expect a set list comprised of songs from Obel's critically-acclaimed and platinum-selling albums Philharmonics (2010) and Aventine (2013), as well as selections from Citizen of Glass.
With more dates to be announced, the Agnes Obel North American tour itinerary is as follows:

LITTLE ANNIE TO TOUR WITH SWANS IN SPRING 2017
Many influential characters graced the stage of Max’s Kansas City within the creative zeitgeist of New York City during the late 1970’s, but one local native named Annie Bandez thrust herself into the downtown scene with her punk ensemble Annie and the Asexuals, establishing her nom de plume Annie Anxiety (later known as “Little Annie”) and colliding head-on with the social norms of contemporary punk culture entangling the city at that time.
After a couple years of disintegrated pursuits in New York, Annie relocated to England, finding herself at the doorstep of the famed anarchro-commune Dial House headed by activist Penny Rimbaud. It was here that Annie Anxiety established herself as a singular artist and voice with her debut 1981 single “ Barbed Wire Halo ” on seminal Crass Records and forging a creative alliance with Crass members Penny Rimbaud and Eve Libertine. As the landscape of punk in the United Kingdom was shifting towards a more diverse, multicultural focal point, artists such as Annie Anxiety found themselves exploring musical signatures in styles such as dub reggae and rocksteady.
In the summer of 1983, Annie began work at Southern Studios on what would be her first full length endeavor which encompassed all of her creative assets at that time. Employing the expertise of legendary dub producer Adrian Sherwood to realize this vision, Annie pulled together members of Crass, Flux of Pink Indians, Family Fodder, African Head Charge, London Underground and Art Interface to record her groundbreaking dub industrial masterpiece. Upon its initial release by the unofficial Crass off-shoot label Corpus Christi in 1984, Soul Possession started the avalanche of activity that would include dozens of releases and collaborations with Nurse With Wound, Coil, Current 93, Swans and Marc Almond.

HANNI EL KHATIB SHARES NEW VISUAL PIECE FOR "SAVAGE TIMES"
HANNI EL KHATIB SHARES NEW VISUAL PIECE FOR "SAVAGE TIMES"
SAVAGE TIMES VOL. 5 AVAILABLE NOW VIA INNOVATIVE LEISURE
WATCH: "Savage Times" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKvPb5mPSGI
STREAM: "Savage Times Vol. 5" -https://open.spotify.com/album/6idf41t0xxoOrrN3xySqrH
Following the release of his Savage Times Vol. 5 EP two weeks ago via Innovative Leisure, Hanni El Khatib is back today to share a new visual accompaniment for his latest single "Savage Times." The visuals are a psychedelic compilation of found footage, appropriately complementing the dark and trippy track.
Hanni El Khatib's first idea for his Savage Times project was to do something he'd never done before. Instead, he ended up doing... Well, everything he'd never done before. He'd be playing new instruments, writing in unfamiliar new ways, opening himself up to an unrelenting stream of ideas and dedicating himself totally to pure musical instinct - and then releasing songs instantly to the public.
El Khatib started Savage Times last December, after the Bataclan attacks forced the cancellation of a planned Paris Festival performance. With unexpected time on his hands - and unexpected ideas on his mind - he'd scheduled open-ended studio time at Crystal Antlers frontman-turned-producer Jonny Bell's Jazzcats Studio. Each day, he'd take the hour-long drive through L.A.'s industrial corridor to Long Beach, sketching out riffs and lyrics as he drove.
Originally, he'd hoped to explode the lingering idea that he was simply a blues-rock guitar player, but that's why the Savage Times EP Series touches everything from garage rock to punk to disco, hip-hop and even some unexpected solo-guitar self-portraiture. But on the way, he also exploded his own idea of what he could do - even maybe who he was, or would be. Savage Times was an experiment, but also an experience, that includes some of Hanni El Khatib's most personal, political and social songs to date.
Find the new visuals for "Savage Times" as well as Savage Times Vol. 5 above, see below for full details on the EP, and stay tuned for more news from Hanni El Khatib soon.

TOTAL CHAOS: THE STORY OF THE STOOGES/AS TOLD BY IGGY POP AVAILABLE NOW IN BOOKSTORES AND VIA THIRD MAN BOOKS
“The Stooges’ FUN HOUSE is to me the very definition of Detroit rock ‘n’ roll, and by proxy the definitive rock album of America.” – Jack White
TOTAL CHAOS: The Story of The Stooges/As Told By Iggy Pop (Third Man Books) is fast proving to be one of the most acclaimed rock ‘n’ roll books of the year. The first time the story of this seminal band has been told entirely in Pop's own words, TOTAL CHAOS has quickly drawn unanimous critical applause around the world in the weeks since its November release. TOTAL CHAOS: The Story of The Stooges/As Told By Iggy Pop is available now at bookstores and online retailers including the official Third Man Store.
Named one of Rough Trade’s “Books of the Year 2016,” and number one on Amazon for New Releases in both Punk and Lifestyle Photography categories, TOTAL CHAOS is “fantastic,” declared Esquire, “a must-read for both diehard fans and anyone who wants to learn first-hand from Pop what it was like from the inside looking out in one of the seminal bands of the post-'60s era.”Dangerous Minds had similar praise noting “TOTAL CHAOS is phenomenal... a must-have for all fans of the group.” “Remarkable,” raved MOJO, “(Pop’s) recall of specifics is extraordinary, running to his first stage dive, first arrest for public lewdness, and the first time his pants disintegrated on-stage.” “An incredible and deeply honest account,” wrote New Noise, “(Pop) pulls no punches and makes no excuses for any of his behavior or his decisions.” The “definitive Stooges book,” hailed NOISEY, “a complete oral history, plus stacks of unseen artifacts.” TOTAL CHAOS is “both definitive and unique,” applauded L.A. Weekly. “Definitive because Jeff Gold, noted rock music memorabilia collector, along with Johan Kugelberg, have gathered items such as posters, recording contracts, letters, reviews and oh so many images, both familiar and rare. Unique because they took many of these pieces to Iggy himself and had him hold forth on each one for a first-hand account of his experiences from as far back as his teenage years.” Perhaps world-renowned chef, TV personality, and best-selling author Anthony Bourdain sums it up best: “This book is everything. Definitive.”
Bursting at the seams with a treasure trove of rare and unseen images, TOTAL CHAOS both shows and tells the still amazing story of the one and only Stooges. Pop spent two days with author Jeff Gold and historian Johan Kugelberg at his Miami home, looking over their extensive memorabilia collections while sharing the legendary tale of The Stooges in typical no-holds-barred fashion. His candid recollections are unflinching and unforgettable, chronicling the band’s extraordinary highs and lows as they redefined and recreated rock ‘n’ roll in their own explosive and outlandish image. Three decades later, The Stooges returned, their volatile power undiminished on stage and on record. In 2010, the band’s anarchic sound and vision were rightfully inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, noting, “The Stooges have not only directly or indirectly influenced every punk-rock band, but they have also had an impact on the edgier groups of the grunge and indie-rock eras. You can hear echoes of the Stooges’ dissonance and attitude in everything from Sonic Youth to Nirvana. In short, they’ve helped insure that a large corner of the rock world remains energized, unkempt and off-limits to sellout.”
In addition to Kugelberg, TOTAL CHAOS sees Gold joined by a number of high profile collaborators, including editor/contributor Jon Savage. Also contributing are an array of Iggy’s famous friends and fans including Jack White, Ben Blackwell, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, Joan Jett, Johnny Marr, and many others.
Pop and Gold celebrated TOTAL CHAOS for a series of in-store appearances, including a book launch and conversation at New York City’s famed Rizzoli Bookstore. The event received wide-ranging national coverage, including a major news feature in Rolling Stone.
Later this month Third Man will unveil an extremely Limited Edition of TOTAL CHAOS, signed by Iggy Pop and also including an exclusive 7” of his pre-Stooges group, The Prime Movers, as well as three classic posters. TOTAL CHAOS Limited Edition will first be offered to Third Man Records Vault Gold andThird Man Records Vault Platinum subscribers; remaining copies will then go on sale via the Third Man Store.
James Newell Osterberg Jr., known professionally as Iggy Pop, is an American singer-songwriter, musician and actor. He was the founder and vocalist of influential proto-punk band The Stooges, who reunited in 2003, and in 2010 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Pop's music has encompassed a number of styles over the course of his career, from garage and punk rock to forays into jazz and blues. Pop's best known songs include "Lust for Life," "The Passenger," "Real Wild Child (Wild One)," "China Girl,” “Nightclubbing," and the Stooges classics "Search and Destroy" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog.” In March 2016, Pop released his highest charting album ever, POST POP DEPRESSION, a collaboration with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal).
Jeff Gold is a music historian, author, former record label executive, and GRAMMY® Award winner. He has been profiled by Rolling Stone as one of the five “top collectors of high-end music memorabilia.” As Executive Vice President/General Manager of Warner Bros. Records and a VP at A&M Records, Gold worked with Iggy Pop, Prince, R.E.M., The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, and Cat Stevens. A four-time GRAMMY® Award- nominated Art Director, he won the 1990 “Best Album Package” GRAMMY® for Suzanne Vega’s DAYS OF OPEN HAND. Gold has consulted for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Experience Music Project, and appeared as an expert on PBS’ HISTORY DETECTIVES. Gold and colleague Laura Woolley also appraised The Bob Dylan Archive, now housed at the University of Tulsa. His discovery of previously undocumented tapes has led to major label releases including Bob Dylan in Concert at Brandeis University 1963. Gold’s 2012 book 101 ESSENTIAL ROCK RECORDS: THE GOLDEN AGE OF VINYL, FROM THE BEATLES TO THE SEX PISTOLS was one of eight books chosen by Rolling Stone as “the year’s best reading material.” The owner of popular music collectibles website Record Mecca, Gold writes about topics of interest to collectors on its blog.

Magic Island Shares "Alchemy" on The 405 | New Album 'Like Water' Out 2/24
MAGIC ISLAND SHARES "ALCHEMY" TRACK ON THE 405
ANNOUNCES DEBUT LP LIKE WATER OUT 2/24
LISTEN & SHARE: Magic Island - "Alchemy""'Alchemy' will swaddle you like your favorite blanket" - The 405Berlin-based artist Magic Island has shared the first track from her upcoming debut LP,
Like Water
. You can listen to "Alchemy" here. Magic Island explains that the track is about "feelings of desperation and confusion as though you are under a spell. Drinking in hopes of release but becoming a monster. Sacrificing yourself."
Like Water
is out February 24, 2017.
Somewhere between a day-dream, late night strobe lights, and love confusion, you might find the sounds and themes of the electronic dream pop solo set of Magic Island. In her Berlin-based paradise, Magic Island builds us mystical, almost too-sweet lo-fi ballads that pull, unassumingly, at all the things we know too well-- the feeling of yet another sunrise, the easy melt into-- and then the painful fall out-- of love. Underneath what seems like simple "Baby Blu" lyrics, we feel darker undertones and an honesty that leaves us all feeling a little bit vulnerable. From soft bedroom tracks to catchy anthems, Magic pulls in the world's superficiality, harnesses it, and gives it right back to us with some addictive hooks and few effortless lines.
After first EP Intoxicated Sunset and followed by Wasted Dawn EP, Like Water, the artist’s first full-length is due to release February 2017 and features Berlin-based producer Karolini and vocals from Sean Nicholas Savage. Magic Island has played at SXSW, Garbicz Festival, Fusion Festival, The Lab Magazine's Regenerate event series, C/O Pop Festival, and openings for Tune-yards (4AD), Soft Metals (Captured Tracks), Hundred Waters (OWSLA), Jaako Eino Kalevi, Sean Nicholas Savage, Evvol, James K (UNO), and many more.

LISTEN TO "FOLLOW MY VOICE"
Nomadic singer-songwriter Julie Byrne, has shared "Follow My Voice," the opening track from her upcoming album, Not Even Happiness. Stereogum , who interviewed Byrne today and premiered the track, are saying "Byrne is one of the finest contemporary examples of an artist who can do so much for the soul by lending you some of hers."
A more confident beast than her debut, Not Even Happiness adds atmospheric instrumentation and electronic flourishes to Byrne's unusual guitar tunings and fingerpicked melodies, moving the songs from the front-porch into subtle anthemia. Not Even Happiness is available for pre-order now and due out January 27th via Ba Da Bing Records in North America and Basin Rock in Europe.
Julie Byrne has also announced a record release show on 1/27 at Rough Trade NYC. Details below.

PRAISE FOR JULIE BYRNE:"With grace and acuity, Byrne shows how the most commonplace aspects of life can turn supernatural if you tilt your eye a way, how the simplest things-melodies, open space, the sky-are often the strongest." - Pitchfork
"With her softly echoing guitar and slight strings, Byrne channels some ancient wavelength, then suddenly sticks a pin in the universal." -NPR
"So perfect it's hard to believe it's real... Songs that feel complete, fully formed, as if they came to us via nature." -USA Today
"Layers of acoustic guitar and self-harmonies hitting like the water and the sky meeting, violins threading between them like ships against the horizon." - Consequence of Sound
ABOUT JULIE BYRNE:Sometimes it can take years to find your calling. Not for Julie Byrne; whose power of lyrical expression and musical nous seems inborn. Often what comes naturally cannot be driven by speed and time. Julie's second album, Not Even Happiness, has evolved at its own pace. It spans recollections of bustling roadside diners, the stars over the high desert, the aching weariness of change, the wildflowers of the California coast, and the irresolvable mysteries of love. Her new album vividly archives what would have otherwise been lost to the road, and in doing so, Byrne exhibits her extraordinarily innate musicality.
Some of the songs on Not Even Happiness took years of fine tuning to reach their fruition. If you asked her why the follow up to 2014's Rooms With Walls and Windows has taken so long, you'd be greeted with a bewildered expression melted into a smile - as though the strangest question had just been asked. "Writing comes from a natural process of change and growth. It took me up to this point to have the capacity to express my experience of the time in my life that these songs came from."
Julie Byrne has counted Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Seattle, New Orleans and Northampton, Massachusetts as her transient homes in recent years. For now, she's settled in New York City, moonlighting as a seasonal urban park ranger in Central Park. Whether witnessing the Pacific Northwest for the first time ('Melting Grid'), the morning sky in the mountains of Boulder ('Natural Blue'), or a journey fragrant with rose water; reading Frank O'Hara aloud from the passengers seat during a drive through the Utah desert into the rainforest of Washington State ('The Sea As It Glides'),Not Even Happiness is Julie's beguilingly ode to the fringes of life.
"The title of the album comes from a letter I wrote to a friend after a trip to Riis Park's 'The People's Beach', it was the first warm afternoon of the year. I walked alongside the Atlantic as the Earth came alive for the sun. There was a palpable sense of emergence to everything. I felt it in myself too, and remember thinking I would trade that feeling for nothing...not even happiness."

Nick Waterhouse Shares Music Video for "It's Time" + On Tour Now
NICK WATERHOUSE SHARES MUSIC VIDEO FOR"IT'S TIME" via BAEBLE MUSIC
PERFORMING IN LA DEC 19TH
NEVER TWICE OUT NOW!
Nick Waterhouse has shared the music video for "It's Time" via Baeble Music -Watch HERE. He released his third album, Never Twice earlier this year on Innovative Leisure. Nick is currently on tour in the U.S. and will wrap up his 2016 with a performance in Los Angeles at The Regent Theater on December 19th. All tour dates below.
With Never Twice , Nick Waterhouse returned to his original collaborator, producer Michael McHugh (Black Lips, Ty Segall, Allah-Las). McHugh was a local legend in the oft-underrated Orange County music scene that Nick grew up in. McHugh was the first person to ever put Nick on tape and in an effort to re-capture the vibrancy of the Huntington Beach scene of Nick's youth, he invited McHugh up to his current home of San Francisco to work the boards once again. Once he had McHugh on board, Nick began cold-calling his favorite players, all of whom miraculously said yes. Jazz musician Bob Kenmotsu's contributed flute, Tom Waits and Elvis Costello collaborator Ralph Carney on sax, Dr. Lonnie Smith protege Will Blades on Organ and a virtual whose who of muso legends on horns, bass and guitar. In addition to these jazz greats, Waterhouse enlisted his friend Leon Bridges on the lead single "Katchi." The result is an exuberant and impeccably recorded album of songs, showcasing Waterhouse's prowess as a musician and a band-leader.
