Icelandic experimental rock band Sigur Rós have announced a new leg of North American tour dates for Spring of 2017. Continuing the experiment begun this year, the group will be performing as trio, eschewing the string, brass, and other auxiliary musicians that have been a hallmark of live performances the past decade. Once again they will be touring without a support act, performing two career spanning sets (separated by an intermission) starting from 8:00pm sharp at each show (7:00pm at Forest Hills). Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, December 16th at 10am (local time). American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, December 13 at 12pm (local time) through Thursday, December 15 at 10pm (local time). For further information and to participate in an exclusive fan presale go to sigur-ros.co.uk As with the previous tour, this run is largely comprised of theater shows, making for some of the most intimate performances the band has presented in years. The awe-inspiring live visuals, designed by the same team behind their previous Knights of Illumination award-winning tour, have been met with universal praise, pairing with the emotional heft of the music to create a wholly subsuming experience.
SELECT PRESS QUOTES FROM 2016 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR "Engaging with the band is often like watching an iceberg slink slowly across frigid water, then see bits of it explode. Hearing the group's songs is to understand yearning." - SEATTLE TIMES "There were moments when I had tears in my eyes from the beauty of the experience. Sometimes it was a light beauty, sometimes dark, but it was impossible to be in that auditorium and not feel moved." - TINY MIX TAPES "Sigur Rós used their music to sooth, challenge, and uplift those in attendance at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre last night, showing that over 20 years in, they remain a group who are true to themselves, giving so much to fans in the process."- EXCLAIM "Sigur Rós is more than a band, it is a memory palace." - MOUNTAIN XPRESS
