Nikki Lane's "Jackpot" Video Premieres At Billboard, Highway Queen To Release Feb 17

NIKKI LANE RETURNS WITH HIGHWAY QUEEN FEBRUARY 17th, 2017  THE STAGECOACH SPOTLIGHT NIKKI LANE HIGHWAY QUEEN TOURKICKS OFF FEBRUARY 22nd  BILLBOARD PREMIERES “JACKPOT” VIDEO  [image error] “As unapologetic as Johnny Cash’s middle finger.”  Rolling Stone  Nikki Lane will release her anticipated third album, Highway Queen, via New West Records on February 17th, 2017.  The 10-song set sees the young Nashville rebel emerge as one of Outlaw Country and rock’s most gifted songwriters and was co-produced by Lane and fellow singer-songwriter Jonathan Tyler.  Recorded in Denton, TX at Matt Pence’s Echo Lab Studio as well as Club Roar in Nashville, TN with Collin Dupuis, Highway Queen features members of the Texas Gentlemen band and blends potent lyrics, unbridled blues guitars and vintage Sixties country-pop swagger.  Billboard Magazinepremiered the video for the new single “Jackpot," which can be seen  HERE .  Directed by Chris Phelps, "Jackpot" features the El Cortez Hotel and Casino, as well as a cameo from Jesse Amoroso from Cowtown Guitars and the hit show Pawn Stars.  The first video for the album’s title track previously premiered via Rolling Stone Country stating,  "It's gritty Southern rock with an extra spike of danger – her guitars always sound like they're running from the law, the drumbeat rolling on the adrenaline of a high-speed chase. Like the vintage she curates for her store, High Class Hillbilly, she's an expert at making relics of the past feel free of any time or place. Somehow, her breed of country is as futuristic as it is Seventies outlaw, probably because she's more intent on invention than emulation."  Highway Queen will be available digitally, on compact disc, LP and is available now for pre-order via Nikki Lane’sOfficial Website.  Nikki Lane will appear at this year’s Stagecoach Festival on Saturday, April 29th.  TheStagecoach Spotlight Nikki Lane Highway Queen Tour kicks off on February 22nd in Birmingham, AL and features special guests Jonathan Tyler, as well as Brent Cobb, and Robert Ellis on select dates (Please see all dates below).
Coming from the tradition of tough-talking women like Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson, The Guardianstated, “Lane manages to sound like both Lykke Li and Loretta Lynn, mixing saloon-ready arrangements with vulnerable and confessional lyrics.”  Her rapid rise in music is thanks to the critical acclaim of her debut record Walk of Shame and 2014’s Dan Auerbach-produced All of Nothin’.  The latter’s sandpaper voice beneath a ten-gallon hat solidified Lane as the new sound and look of outlaw country music.
Lane is poised for a major mainstream breakthrough in 2017 with Highway Queen.  The album is a journey through heartbreak that takes exquisite turns.  It begins with a whiskey-soaked homage to Lane’s hometown (“700,000 Rednecks”) and ends on the profoundly raw “Forever Lasts Forever,” where Lane belts freely, mourning a failed marriage - the “lighter shade of skin” left behind from her wedding ring.  Elsewhere, “Companion” is pure Everly Brothers dreaminess - “I would spend a lifetime, playing catch you if I can.”  She goes on a Vegas bender on the rollicking “Jackpot,” fights last-call blues on “Foolish Heart” and tosses off brazen one-liners at a backroom piano on “Big Mouth.”  “Love is the most unavoidable thing in the world,” Lane says.  “The person you pick could be half set-up to destroy your life with their own habits -- I’ve certainly experienced that before and taken way too long to get out of that mistake.”
The Greenville, South Carolina native and fashion entrepreneur - as owner of the popular vintage clothing boutique High Class Hillbilly - has lived - and been heartbroken in - Los Angeles, New York and Nashville. So, it’s no surprise that her music seamlessly crosses musical genres with lyrics steeped in the doomed perseverance only a true dark horse romantic knows.  Like a true wanderer, her sound crisscrosses musical genres with ease, while the lonesome romantic in her remains. Highway Queen Track List:

Goldfrapp Announces New Album, Silver Eye Out March 31

SILVER EYE
OUT MARCH 31, 2017

FIRST ALBUM IN FOUR YEARS

LISTEN TO NEW SINGLE “ANYMORE”
Self PortraitGoldfrapp will release their seventh studio album  Silver Eye  on March 31st through Mute.

The band, consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, also reveal their new single “Anymore.” Featuring strident strands of underground electronica, sensual melody and metal machine pop at its core, the new track is an assertive return from the uncompromising duo.

Listen HERE.     Pre-order HERE.

Goldfrapp follow up 2013’s album Tales of Us with the deep, dark and electronic musical palette of Silver Eye, their brand new studio album, made with an eclectic collection of new collaborators. Alison and Will spent 10 days in Dallas with John Congleton, Grammy-winning producer of St. Vincent, John Grant and Wild Beasts. In London they teamed up with electronic composer Bobby Krlic, aka The Haxan Cloak. Brian Eno collaborator Leo Abrahams added abstract guitar textures, and the album was mixed by David Wrench (The xx, fka Twigs, Caribou).

On the making the album, Alison Goldfrapp says:

“We’ve never liked repeating ourselves. Often we react to things we’ve just done. We like the spontaneity of not knowing. It’s only through the process that we start to figure out what it is. The fans who have stuck with us are the ones who embrace that idea and are excited by the thought that they don’t know quite what to expect next.”

Will Gregory added:

“I think writing an album is like being lost in a wood. You’re trying to figure out an interesting path. You don’t know whether it’s going to be a dead end or somewhere interesting and you never know when to stop because around the corner some beautiful vista might open up.”

Alison headed to Fuerteventura, a volcanic island in the Canary Islands, to produce the remarkable visuals for the record, all of which were devised and shot by her. The black sands, stark cliffs, rolling dunes and blazing blue skies, captured in her own photographs, are a total complement to the elemental drama of the music on the album. Working with stunning twins who she spotted on the street in London, Alison created and shot a set of visuals that are as arresting as they are idiosyncratic. In demand more and more as a photographer, Alison has been commissioned for other projects in the past including shooting Laura Mvula live at Somerset House in London.

Goldfrapp will be performing a very special show at London’s Roundhouse on March 27th where they will showcase new music from Silver Eye. Tickets go on sale this Friday with a special fan pre-sale from Wednesday March 25th.  Fans should sign up to the mailing list at www.goldfrapp.com to get early access to the tickets.

Silver Eye is released March 31st and is available to pre-order now  HERE .

“Glitter City” is available on iTunesSpotifyGoogle PlayAmazon and  Bandcamp.
In addition to the “Glitter City” album, their “Miss Androgynous” single is also featured in directorKevin Smith’s new movie “Yoga Hosers” starring Lily-Rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith withNatasha LyonneAustin Butler and Adam Brody.

TINARIWEN SING SONGS OF FREEDOM FOR THE WOMEN OF THE SAHARA IN "ASSAWT"

TINARIWEN SING SONGS OF FREEDOM FOR THE WOMEN OF THE SAHARA IN "ASSAWT"

LISTEN VIA  Flood Magazine

New Album Elwan Out February 10th
The Grammy winning Saharan band Tinariwen, described as “desert blues practitioners” by The Guardian, have just premiered a song from their forthcoming album  Elwan  which arrives on February 10th via Anti-.

The track is called “Assawt” and it features everything listeners throughout the world have come love about Tinariwen, virtuosic and soulful guitar playing, intricate yet irresistible rhythm and some truly evocative vocal harmonies.

Listen to “Assawt” here care of Flood Magazine .

An English translation of the song’s lyrics

That’s the voice
of the Tamashek women
Searching for their freedom.
Those are the thoughts
of the old women
Living in a Sahara devoid of water,
Desiccated and miserable,
My wish is for it
to stop being subservient.
This is a message for those
Who toil for the revolution.

Featuring guest performances from Kurt Vile, Matt Sweeney, Alain Johannes, Mark Lanegan and more,  Elwan  was recorded in both the California desert of Joshua Tree and in Southern Morocco. It is unquestionably a “road record”  with each song evoking a land that can no longer be found, with all that this implies in terms of emotional range, from nostalgia for a joyous past to the tragic recent loss of a territory, and of the dream that it nourished.

Tinariwen have announced dates for their 2017 headline tour of North America, beginning on March 30th in Solana Beach, CA.

The Proper Ornaments share "Memories" video, new album 'Foxhole' out now

The Proper Ornaments share "Memories" video, new album 'Foxhole' out now-'Foxhole' out now via Slumberland Records (US) + Tough Love Records (ROW)VIDEO: "Memories"
YouTube / BrooklynVegan  Photo by Alain BibThe Proper Ornaments – the project of James Hoare (Ultimate Painting, Veronica Falls) and Max Oscarnold (Toy) released their sophomore album 'Foxhole' on January 20 via Slumberland Records (US) and Tough Love Records (ROW).This week the band premieres the video for "Memories." Watch it over at BrooklynVegan and onYouTube. You can catch the band on their current UK/European tour, full list of tour dates listed below.James and Max started out writing Foxhole, the follow up to the bands 2014 released debut album ‘Wooden Head’, in January 2015. On ‘Foxhole’ they’ve sliced away a whole stratum of their sound, removing some distortion and lowering the frequency of plectrum strokes to allow more nuanced, piano-led ideas to emerge. The title isn’t a reference to Television’s jaunty proto-punk record but seems to be more of a dark, protective interior, a head space sketched out on ‘Jeremy’s Song’. While their particularly recognizable production style remains, three things stand out as likely reasons for the shift in mood. By the time they got around to recording again in James’ bedroom in Finsbury Park that Summer, the instability around the recording of ‘Wooden Head’ (and the five years before) had slid into a deep and seething acrimony. Second, they both bought pianos. Third, when the band, with Daniel Nellis and Bobby Syme joining on bass and drums went to record at Tin Room in Hackney in June, the pinch wheel on the 8 track machine was broken and somehow no one noticed. All but one recording, ‘The Frozen Stare,’ was hopelessly warped, so they went and did it all again from scratch back at James’.“We ended up doing the whole thing there as the atmosphere suited the direction of the foxhole and we were more comfortable working on it in our own time,” says James, “We wanted to move in a slightly different direction from ‘Wooden Head’, away from the distorted guitars and into a more peaceful area.” The mechanical blow out that had wasted weeks of their time and money coincided with a thaw in their friendship, and by the time they were re-recording they were both being treated conspicuously gentler by life. “That’s why the record has a laid back, conversational, not imposing or anxious feel in my opinion,” Max says about their rapprochement, “There’s also the technical limitation of doing it on an 8 track which gives the songs a sparser sound.” Pre-order ‘Foxhole’ here. Tour Dates:

ADAM ANT North American tour to coincide w/ the 35th anniversary/reissue of his landmark "Kings of the Wild Frontier" album

FOLLOWING HIS SOLD OUT UK TOUR, POP ICON ADAM ANT CELEBRATES THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS LANDMARK “KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER”ALBUM WITH A NEWLY-REMASTERED ALBUM REISSUE AND NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Following his recent sold out UK tour, pop icon Adam Ant is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the release of his landmark “Kings of the Wild Frontier” album with a newly-remastered reissue (Sony Legacy UK) and North American tour.  Adam will play the classic album in its entirety, and in sequence, including the first-ever live performance of the track “Feed Me To The Lions”.  For ticket information, visit http://www.adam-ant.com/.
"I'm really looking forward to performing the 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' album live and in sequence plus my other favorite songs from the repertoire, in the USA,” Adam said.
“Kings of the Wild Frontier” introduced the Burundi Beat style of thundering, infectious, Central African drumming to a pop-music audience.  Adam captured the live sound by incorporating two drummers into his band, a musical signature that remains to this day.
In addition to remastering the classic album, Adam personally designed the deluxe box set that includes items from his extensive personal archive and a bonus DVD of the out-of-print “Ants In Japan” concert video.
The platinum album, originally released in 1980, crowned the UK Album Chart and spent more time in the top position than any other album at the time.  The album went on to achieve worldwide recognition and produced massive chart-topping singles including the classic “Antmusic”, the breakthrough tribal onslaught of “Dog Eat Dog” and the epic title track.
The original USA version of the album replaced the track "Making History" with the classics "(You're So) Physical" and "Press Darlings".  The album climbed the Billboard Top 200 chart and produced three Top 20 hits for “Antmusic”, “Dog Eat Dog” and “(You’re So) Physical”.
