Cloud Nothings shares new single "Enter Entirely" + Launches North American tour next week

CLOUD NOTHINGS SHARES NEW SINGLE "ENTER ENTIRELY"
LAUNCHES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR NEXT WEEK

LIFE WITHOUT SOUND DUE 1/27 VIA CARPARK RECORDS
Cloud Nothings by Jesse LirolaSTREAM: "Entire Entirely" - https://soundcloud.com/cloudnothings/enter-entirely
After sharing the video for "Internal World" last week, Cloud Nothings are back today to share one more taste of their forthcoming album Life Without Sound before its release on January 27th. New track "Enter Entirely" starts as a slow-burner before bursting into a classic Dylan Baldi chorus.
In addition to the new single, Cloud Nothings will embark on a lengthy tour next week that will see them hit North America in January and February before heading to Europe in March. While supplies last, fans can head to cloudnothings.com to pre-order a limited edition t-shirt & deluxe LP, LP or CD bundle.
Listen to "Enter Entirely" above and see below for full tour routing and album details.
WATCH: "Internal World" -  https://youtu.be/gQUcpNi8T_8

About Cloud Nothings:
Dylan Baldi maintains simple, admirable standards in quality. "A thing I like to do with all of my records is drive around with them," the 25-year-old Cloud Nothings frontman says. "In high school, I would listen to music for hours like that: just driving through the suburbs of Cleveland. And if it sounds good to me in that context and I can think of high school me listening to it and saying, 'That's okay,' I feel good about the record. This is the one that's felt best."
"This" is Life Without Sound, the radiant, far-far-better-than-okay fourth full-length his rock outfit has recorded since he began writing and releasing songs on his own under the Cloud Nothings alias in 2008. While its highly acclaimed predecessor - 2014's Here and Nowhere Else - came together spontaneously, in the little time that touring allowed, Life Without Sound took shape under far less frenetic circumstances.
For more than a year, Baldi was able to write these songs and flesh out them out with his bandmates - drummer Jayson Gerycz and bassist TJ Duke - before they finally joined producer John Goodmanson (Sleater Kinney, Death Cab for Cutie) at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas, for three weeks in March of 2016. The result is Baldi's most polished and considered work to date, an album that speaks to his evolving gift with melody while also betraying the sort of perspective that time provides. You can hear it in the aerodynamic guitar pop of "Modern Act," and feel it in the devastating wisdom of "Internal World," a lullaby-like howler that dwells on "the fact that being yourself can be uncomfortable and even potentially dangerous at times."
"Generally, it seems like my work has been about finding my place in the world," Baldi says. "But there was a point in which I realized that you can be missing something important in your life, a part you didn't realize you were missing until it's there-hence the title. This record is like my version of new age music," he adds. "It's supposed to be inspiring."
It is.

NY Times
New York, NY (January 19, 2017) – Chicano Batman closed out the year announcing a new album and tour and the LA quartet begin 2017 with the release of "Freedom Is Free", the title track to their upcoming LP, out March 3 onATO Records.

"Freedom Is Free" is an inspirational credo from the psych-soul outfit at an all too apripos time. FLOOD agrees that, "the song’s sweetness, the ease with which it unfolds along that provocative bassline, suggests both the inevitability of its message and the band’s confidence in it."
"Because of the ascendence of capitalism as a dominant form of cultural exchange, freedom (however you choose to define it) has been commodified like any other product," says vocalist Bardo Martinez. "Throughout our history the state has presented the rationale (through propagandistic means and ends) that freedom is not free; that your personal freedom is contingent and dependent on the well being of the state. This logic has explicitly justified war and its atrocities in the name of freedom. This song is an antithesis to that ideological fallacy. Freedom is as free as the spirit, as nature, as the universe itself. No matter how hard man tries to control every nuance of nature's movement, he will not succeed. Freedom is a concept of the feeling of nature itself propelling everything in the universe in motion."

Freedom Is Free
is already being lauded by NPR Music, Noisey and more and the Leon Michels (El Michels Affair, The Arcs) produced album foregrounds the soul and R&B elements of the band's sound, truly captuing the band's live energy, bringing their aesthetic goals to life. The organ-driven soul jam “Friendship (Is A Small Boat In A Storm)” has been added to tastemaker stations across the country including SiriusXMU, KCRW, WFUV, WXPN and KCMP (The Current), to name a few.

Conor Oberst Announces New Album 'Salutations'

Conor Oberst Announces New Album Salutations for March 17 Release Full band recordings with The Felice Brothers and drummer Jim Keltner; guests include Jim James, Gillian Welch, Blake Mills, Jonathan Wilson and moreVideo for "A Little Uncanny" from Salutations launches today
Spring tour begins in early March  (Photo Credit: Tony Bonacci)
Conor Oberst will release a new album,  Salutations , on Nonesuch Records, on March 17, 2017.

The album is a companion piece to 2016's lauded  Ruminations . When Oberst wrote and recorded the songs on Ruminations, entirely solo - with just voice, piano, guitar and harmonica - he intended to ultimately record them with a full band. In the midst of putting together that band - upstate New York's The Felice Brothers plus the legendary drummer Jim Keltner (Neil Young, Jackson Browne, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and many more)- the passionate responses Oberst was getting to those first solo recordings, from friends and colleagues, encouraged him to release the songs as-is, in their original sparse form, as his seventh solo album: Ruminations, which was released in October 2016. Pitchfork called it "a record like none other in Oberst's catalog, stunning for how utterly alone he sounds," and the UK's Sunday Times called it, "The rawest album yet from the forever troubled one-time voice of a generation. Political and very, very personal," saying Oberst is "one of the best songwriters around."

Meanwhile, Oberst simultaneously moved ahead with his plans to record with the band, heading to the famed Shangri-la Studios in Malibu to record Salutations - co-produced with Keltner and engineered by long-time musical compadre Andy LeMaster. Guest contributions come courtesy of Jim James, Blake MillsMaria TaylorM WardGillian WelchGus Seyffert,Pearl CharlesNathaniel Walcott, and Jonathan Wilson.

Salutations includes full band versions of the ten songs from Ruminations, plus seven additional songs, some from an additional session at Five Star Studiosin Echo Park in fall 2016 (complete track list below). Oberst, with The Felice Brothers as his backing band, will tour in celebration of Salutations beginning March 9 in his hometown of Omaha, with stops at LA's Greek Theater in May and Celebrate Brooklyn Festival in July (full schedule below). Oberst has partnered with Plus 1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to supportPlanned Parenthood and their work delivering vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people in the US and worldwide.

Pre-orders of Salutations at iTunes and the Nonesuch store will come with immediate downloads of "A Little Uncanny," "Tachycardia," and "Napalm." For a limited time, pre-orders at nonesuch.com also include an exclusive print autographed by Conor Oberst.

A video for "A Little Uncanny," directed by Josh Rawson (The Felice Brothers), may be viewed here.

Oberst says of the Salutations sessions: "Jim was really the captain of the ship and the spiritual leader of the project. We leaned heavy on his fifty-plus years of musical insight to get us to where we needed to be. He brought such depth and dignity to the proceedings that made everyone else involved rise to the occasion. It was a true stroke of luck that he got involved when he did."

CRX PERFORMS “SLOW DOWN” ON 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA' TOMORROW, JANUARY 19; NICK VALENSI SITS IN WITH THE ROOTS

CRX PERFORMS “SLOW DOWN”
ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA TOMORROW, JANUARY 19

FRONTMAN NICK VALENSI SITS IN WITH THE ROOTS
ON THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON TONIGHTPhoto Credit: Magdalena WosinskaCRX—the new band fronted by Nick Valensi, guitarist for The Strokes—will visit Good Morning America tomorrow morning, January 19, for the television debut performance of their song “Slow Down.” The track is featured on the band’s Josh Homme-produced debut album New Skin, available everywhere now via Columbia Records:http://smarturl.it/NewSkin.

Tonight, Valensi sits in with The Roots on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he’ll perform a selection of songs from both CRX and The Strokes throughout the broadcast. This week’s appearances follow the band’s performances on The Late Late Show with James Corden (“Broken Bones”) and Jimmy Kimmel Live! (“Ways To Fake It”) this past fall.

CRX is: Nick Valensi (lead vocals and guitar), Richie James Follin (of Guards and Willowz - keyboards), Ralph Alexander (of The Dose - drums), Jon Safley (of People On People - bass) and Darian Zahedi (of People On People - guitar).

Praise for New Skin  Valensi more than proves himself on an album that at times suggests a harder-hitting version of his main band's bright concision – power pop with a bracing metal edge, or an all-night rager in Elvis Costello's ‘Imperial Bedroom.’
–Rolling Stone

Mr. Valensi’s new pursuit looks to slick ’80s New Wave and power-pop bands like the Cars and Cheap Trick, with catchy, fist-pumping results.
–The New York Times

Valensi clings to the crisp tick-tock guitars he favors in his day job. But CRX juices those tidy riffs with ’80s-style synths that give tunes like “Anything” and “Ways to Fake It” a serious Cars vibe.
–Los Angeles Times

You can immediately tell what Valensi’s aims for the record were. This isn’t stadium rock with an eye on the lighters-in-the-air crowd. It’s dirty, sludgy rock’n’roll, that sounds best when rambling around a dive bar. It’s heavier and harder than The Strokes, but his guitar lines have that familiar complexity and finesse.
