Hippo Campus are barreling full speed ahead into 2017! With critical acclaim from NPR’s Bob Boilen, Noisey, NYLON, Paste, BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Consequence of Sound, AV Club, Alternative Press and many more, the band is in the midst of a massive international tour, which will stop at SXSW for several blowout performances including SPIN, Waterloo & Paradigm/Vans. The band’s live energy transcends club stages as highlighted by their 2015 performances on CONAN, CBS This Morning Saturday and KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic. Fans unable to make it out to a show can tune in to watch the foursome make a valiant return to CONAN, performing album hit " way it goes " on March 7th at 11pm/10pmC.

The fast-rising Minnesotans have shared a brand new live video for album cut, ‘simple season’ which premiered with DIY today. Filmed live by collaborator Dan Huiting (PitchforkTV City of Music) in their hometown, “simple season” offers another look into the world Hippo Campus have created for landmark and follow recent singles “way it goes”,boyish” and “monsoon” – some of the band’s most celebrated and cerebral efforts to date. A blissed out yet immediate number, the song finds the band coming of age whilst reflecting on the simplicity of youth. It’s a celebration of friendship and a toast to being a kid but also a timely reminder that whilst life changes, that feeling needn’t be lost.

On “simple season” Nathan Stocker shared, “Milking our youth for all its worth. It's the photos on your bedroom wall from that disposable camera you picked up for the summer. That night when the moon was full. Flying kites the day after. Friends we made and the friends that made us. Nothing to do and all day to do it. Nowhere to go and all day to get there. Sittin' around in the simplicity of it all belonging to us.

Watch the “simple season” live video HERE .
We encourage you to post and share.

Eschewing any of the band’s critically acclaimed previous works, 'landmark' is a collection of thirteen brand new Hippo Campus songs - a debut in the truest sense, and one that musically uncovers a series of fresh sounds from the group. Whilst a strong grasp remains on their classic songwriting capabilities, another is held for experimentation and sonic discovery. Produced by BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Francis & The Lights, Low), landmark marks a true coming of age for the band, exploring an intimate world of universal concepts; love and loss, family and friendship, hope and self-doubt, amongst many others. A milestone at the time in life of which certain questions are answered, but so many more are asked.

Ride shares two new songs + New album due out this summer

RIDE SHARES TWO NEW SONGS
NEW ALBUM DUE THIS SUMMER VIA WICHITA RECORDINGS
HEAR "CHARM ASSAULT" & "HOME IS A FEELING" NOW
Ride by Andrew OgilvyHEAR: "Home Is A Feeling" -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5xwjWbBbzohttp://hyperurl.co/HomeIsAFeeling
HEAR: "Charm Assault" -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5gBOlOWCLshttp://hyperurl.co/CharmAssault

Yesterday British band Ride shared a new song called "Charm Assault," the first new music that the group had released in 20 years. Today, they are back to share another new track. "Home Is A Feeling" builds on the sudden momentum that "Charm Assault" set in motion, as the band comes out of their lengthy hiatus swinging. Side by side, the two tracks demonstrate the diversity of the band's highly anticipated forthcoming album, which is due this summer.
"Charm Assault" and "Home Is A Feeling" are both produced by legendary DJ, producer, and remixer Erol Alkan. "Charm Assault" sees Ride in classic form as driving drums and chiming guitar lines underpin Mark Gardener's unmistakable vocals on this urgent and vital opening salvo from Ride's forthcoming album. On the creation of the new song Andy Bell says: ""Charm Assault" is a pretty straightforward expression of frustration and disgust at the people who currently run our country. The tour in 2015 was a good way of reminding us what we were good at in the first place and "Charm Assault" feels like a natural continuation from our peak. When we started writing together again we tried to imagine we'd kept on making music all this time, and this was just the latest one."
Their upcoming album, scheduled for release this summer via Wichita Recordings, sees the band reunited with label co-founders Dick Green and Mark Bowen, who they worked with during the band's early years on Creation Records. It also brings the band back together with mixer Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers) who mixed their seminal 1990 album Nowhere and produced it's follow up Going Blank Again.
After a lengthy hiatus, Ride reformed in 2014. Comprising of Andy Bell, Mark Gardener, Laurence Colbert, and Steve Queralt, the band sold out headline tours around the world to a plethora of critical acclaim, as well as show stopping turns at festivals including Coachella, Primavera and Field Day. Today, the band are also announcing that they will be playing the opening night of the BBC 6music Festival in Glasgow on 24th March, in addition to three additional European performances. Hear "Home Is A Feeling" and "Charm Assault" above, see below for details on the band's upcoming shows, and stay tuned for more from Ride soon.

SQUAREPUSHER’S SHOBALEADER ONE + TONY ALLEN TO HEADLINE, AS FARMFEST ANNOUNCES FIRST WAVE OF ACTS Listen to Farmfest's 2017 Acts Playlist hereTHIS IS THE KIT, MELT YOURSELF DOWN, BC CAMPLIGHT AND DELE SOSIMI FEATURE AMID WEALTH OF LIVE ACTS, WITH GREG WILSON, DJ YODA, ACTRESS, MAX GRAEF AND SESSION VICTIM LIVE AMONG THE MANY CONFIRMED DJS AND ELECTRONIC ACTS.Tom Jenkinson, or Squarepusher as he’s better known, has been shifting musical frontiers for well over a decade and a half and is, simply, a musical vanguard. Farmfest welcomes his latest project, Shobaleader One , to the main stage for a phenomenal full band portrayal of Squarepusher classics from new album Elektrac (WARP Records). With a mesmerising light show adding to what promises to be an otherworldly and unrelenting exploration of playfully warped electronic melodies and funky bass lines.Bringing the pace down a notch is one of the most influential drummers ever to have lived (and perhaps the greatest, according to Brian Eno). Tony Allen was as essential to the creation of the Afrobeat genre as Fela Kuti and this is a rare chance to witness his jazz infused tribute to the great bebop drummer Art Blakley. Meanwhile, Tony‘s former band mate Dele Sosimi and his full Afrobeat Orchestra are preparing a mammoth two-hour set of complex, danceable funk grooves.Following selection for Guy Garvey’s 6 Music album of the year, This is the Kit bring their distinctive brand of folk to our Big Blue Tent, while at the opposite end of the sonic spectrum Melt Yourself Down return to the farm for what is sure to be another raucous melee of beats and brass. Other highlights of the craftily curated line-up are the sublimely talented multi-instrumentalist BC Camplight, urban brass ambassadors Broken Brass Ensemble, hip-hop heavyweight DJ Yoda and homegrown talent Dizraeli.Among those hopping into our combine harvester DJ booth this year is electro funk pioneer Greg Wilson; one of the best re-mixers around and a key figure in breaking the post-disco records of 70s New York. Bristol tastemakers Shapes have co-curated a stage headlined by Ninja Tune’s avant-garde UK producer Darren Cunningham, a.k.a Actress. He’s joined by label-mate Max Graef, the Berlin born champion of disco-tinged house bangers and dusty down-tempo excursions, as well as Hot Flush’s OR:LA and Bristol’s rising star, Ishmael.German duo Session Victim will be bringing their high octane live show of house and funk to the farm, joining Bill Brewster in a Late Night Tales takeover, while there is also a rare UK DJ set from Parisian hip-hop maestro, GUTS. Over the coming months, further acts will continue to be announced, in addition to a full line-up of the comedy, theatrics and other creative crafts taking place in the ever-evolving arts & entertainment area, plus all manner of other playful activities for folk young and old. 2017 will also see a vast addition of food stalls and variety of all kinds, to serve all tastes.

Austin's SWEET SPIRIT Debuts Blazing New Single "The Power" (US Tour Dates + SXSW)

SWEET SPIRIT

LISTEN TO BLAZING NEW SINGLE

“THE POWER”

VIA TOM SCHARPLING’S THE BEST SHOW

UPCOMING SOPHOMORE LP ST. MOJO

OUT APRIL 7 VIA NINE MILE RECORDS

“Austin’s Sweet Spirit oscillate between garage melodicism and dizzy fury, and people have taken notice…” –  Stereogum

“…exceptionally charismatic…[I’m] high on Sweet Spirit”Noisey

“It all comes together in an alluring dream-like haze of sexual tension ready to snap, a feeling strengthened by [frontwoman Sabrina] Ellis’ own dizzying vocal performance.”Consequence of Sound

STREAM + SHARE “THE POWER”

Austin’s eight-piece self-described “freak parade” Sweet Spirit just premiered “The Power”, the debut single from their upcoming album St. Mojo, on Tom Scharpling’s The Best Show. The track, a firestorm of scorching vocals and blazing instrumentation, tells the narrative of a proud rebel drawing lines in the sand between herself and the world around her. Sabrina Ellis says of the track, “This song is a battle cry for the outcast, the awkward kid, society's fringe. Drawing on high school dynamics and personal experience, with a Glam rock, stadium vibe, this song is our opening anthem, the underscore to our freak parade."

Listen to the track here, and prepare yourself for the electrifying experience that is St. Mojo, out April 7th via Nine Mile Records.

MORE ON SWEET SPIRIT:
Ironically, the eight-piece band Sweet Spirit started as a solo project.
Austin singer Sabrina Ellis was going through some distressing times: the band that she fronted for several years, Bobby Jealousy, with her then husband was disintegrating along with their relationship. Everything Ellis was working toward was suddenly in free-fall.

She started Sweet Spirit to hone her ability to write and perform on her own. “It was supposed to be focused on me writing solo, and performing with the guitar,” she says. But it didn’t stay that way for long.

When Ellis started Sweet Spirit, she was still writing and performing with her longstanding garage punk band A Giant Dog. AGD Co-founder Andrew Cashen was intrigued by Ellis’ new emphasis on soul and country and pop music as touchstones for Sweet Spirit and quickly climbed on board the project. “I’m very comfortable doing loud and fast,” Cashen says, “so this is uncharted territory for me.”

Together Ellis and Cashen began turning out songs at a breakneck pace. They assembled a core band of four more members, rehearsed religiously, and started playing gigs around town. Immediately they began turning heads and packing clubs.

Within six months they had gotten noticed by one of Austin’s most famous musical residents, Britt Daniel of Spoon. In October of 2014, Daniel asked the band to perform at Spoon’s “secret” tour kick off show at the cramped rock club Hotel Vegas for their latest record They Want My Soul, and Sweet Spirit was quickly thrown into the local buzzmill.

As Austin accolades continued to pile up into 2015, Sweet Spirit was added as an official SXSW showcase act without a full-length record or ever having applied. National attention from Esquire, the L.A. Times and other outlets solidified their status as Austin’s “next great rock band” and earned them a spot as the opener on 12 Midwest and West Coast Spoon tour dates.

Meanwhile, the band released their full-length debut Cokomo, as well as a two song collaboration with Daniel, receiving praise from Stereogum, Consequence Of Sound, SPIN, and other outlets, and leading to two more national tours.

In between shows, the band found time to work with producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, Deer Tick) on their sophomore full-length St. Mojo. The new record comes out on April 7, 2017 on Austin label Nine Mile Records and features a bigger, more dynamic set of songs. Lead single "The Power" has already become a fan favorite at live shows, while the Queen-esque track "The Mighty" and Prince dance funk of "I Wanna Have You" take the band is exciting, unexpected new directions. Guest contributions from members of Grupo Fantasma, Mother Falcon and A Giant Dog help expand the band's already considerable sound.

Tashaki Miyaki shares video for "Girls On TV," directed by James Franco

Tashaki Miyaki shares video for "Girls On TV," directed by James Franco-'The Dream' out April 7 via Metropolis RecordsVIDEO: "Girls On T.V."
YouTube / Pitchfork
(Photo Credit:  Photo by Marc Gabor - click image for high-res version)The Los Angeles-based duo Tashaki Miyaki will release their highly anticipated debut album 'The Dream' on April 7 via Metropolis Records (pre-order here). This week the band shares the video for the album's first single "Girls On T.V.," directed by James Franco and starring actress Juno Temple. "We wanted to capture the feeling of being lost while pursuing your Hollywood Dreams," Franco explains. "This is a video about all the dreamers wandering down Hollywood Boulevard." The video takes inspiration from the Robert Redford film "Electric Horseman," as well as the movies "Midnight Cowboy" and "Fallen Angels." Stream it over at Pitchfork and on YouTube .The Los Angeles-based band Tashaki Miyaki have kept it mysterious since their inception. In their early days, the band's members often performed under aliases and even the roots of their moniker remain hazy (though it may or may not have first come from a mispronunciation of Japanese director Takashi Miike's name). The band was born out of a late night jam session in early 2011, when local legend Joel Jerome recorded what would become the band's first original song, "Somethin' is Better Than Nothin" and a cover of the Everly Brothers' classic, "All I have to do is Dream." Within a few weeks of posting the songs to Bandcamp, the band was invited to London where they played their first ever live show to a packed crowd at the legendary 100 Club.

In the six years since, Tashaki Miyaki have released three singles and an EP on UK labels Luv Luv Luv, For Us Records (Rough Trade Imprint), and The Sounds of Sweet Nothing; as well as a single on their own label, Blonde Dog. Influential local label Burger Records also put out a collection of the band's early recordings. These releases received international acclaim in the NME, MOJO, The New York Times, and Pitchfork, among other outlets. The Guardian UK deemed the group a "female Jesus and Mary Chain, whose vocals cut like honey-coated razor blades." Others have compared the band to Mazzy StarSpiritualized, and  The Velvet Underground , but Tashaki Miyaki considers film to be their closest muse. Band members cite David Lynch and his composer  Angelo Badalamenti , as well as Sergio Leone's partnership with  Ennio Morricone  to be as powerful an influence as music like Lou ReedNeil YoungDavid Bowie and My Bloody Valentine. Tashaki Miyaki's songs are designed with visual inspiration: seeing the band perform live is a multimedia experience, where their haunting music is paired with ever-changing, curated cinematic backdrops, creating a full sensory experience. Their dream-like aesthetic has been mirrored in stark and alluring music videos created by talented filmmaker and friend, Juan Iglesias. Tashaki Miyaki have toured and played festivals across North America, Europe and the UK. The band has also performed at art museums around the world, including The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona and MoMA, New York.

Tashaki Miyaki has spent the past couple years writing and recording their debut LP, The Dream , produced by Singer/Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalist Paige Stark and engineered by Dan Horne (Cass McCombs, Allah Las). As a writer for The Fader once observed of the band’s hypnotic sound, “It's so pretty I’m afraid saying anything else might diminish it".Tour Dates:March 6, 13, 20, 27 Los Angeles, CA - The Echo (Monda

British Sea Power Share “Keep On Trying (Sechs Freunde)” 2nd Single Off 'Let The Dancers Inherit The Party' LP Out 3/31

everything everything:Users:macbook:Desktop:unnamed.png
British Sea Power Share
Keep On Trying (Sechs Freunde)

Second Song Revealed Off New LP
Let The Dancers Inherit The Party
Out March 31st on Golden Chariot (via Caroline International)

“If you’re wondering what ‘Sechs Freunde’ actually means, it’s the German equivalent of six degrees of separation. There also happens to be six friends in the band and ‘Let The Dancers Inherit The Party’ is due to be their sixth album. See what they did there?” - DIY British Sea Power have revealed “Keep On Trying (Sechs Freunde)” the second track to be shared from their forthcoming album Let The Dancers Inherit The Party out March 31st on the band’s own Golden Chariot imprint (via Caroline International).

The follow up to lead album single Bad Bohemian, “Keep On Trying (Sechs Freunde)” is a mighty, middle-of-the-dancefloor ode to perseverance; a rocket-powered love letter to friendship. Both tracks are now available as immediate downloads via album pre-order.

The track’s Europhile chorus rings with a collective Deutscher cry of ‘Sechs Freunde’ - the German equivalent of the six degrees of separation concept; six friends being the constituency of British Sea Power. Let The Dancers Inherit The Party is the band’s long-awaited sixth studio album.

Recorded in Sussex, London and on the Isle of Skye, Let The Dancers Inherit The Party follows the band’s five studio albums for the great Rough Trade Records – a catalogue of releases that saw BSP become the longest continually-signed band in the label’s history. Rough Trade remain a vital part of the BSP story and will continue to do so, but the new album is being licensed from the band’s own Golden Chariot label to Caroline International. The entire recording of the album was funded by the band’s remarkably dedicated audience.

As British Sea Power release new album Let The Dancers Inherit The Party the band is immersed in the German language, Polish animation and the work of the German Dadaist artist Kurt Schwitters – cosmopolitan imperatives that underlie the internationalism and pan-European unity that has energized this group across its 15-year history.
Hi Res Press Photo  (credit Mayumi Hirata)British Sea Power is based in Brighton, UK; the band members live in Sussex, Kendal and on the Isle Of Skye. The band is Yan Wilkinson (vocals / guitars), Neil Hamilton Wilkinson (vocals / guitars), Martin Noble (guitars), Matthew Wood (drums), Abi Fry (viola), Phil Sumner (keyboards / cornet).

PIXIES ADD SECOND LEG TO 2017 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

PIXIES ADD SECOND LEG TO 2017 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Baltimore Date Added to Leg One

Pixies L-R:  Paz Lenchantin, David Lovering, Black Francis, Joey Santiago * Photo Credit:  Travis ShinnLOS ANGELES, CA - (TUESDAY, February 21, 2017) -- With more than half of Leg One already sold out, Pixies announce the addition of Leg Two to its 2017 North American touring schedule.  The band will kick off the second leg September 19 in New Haven, CT, and will perform in major and secondary markets over a five-week period.  Tickets go on sale this Friday, February 24; log onto www.pixiesmusic.com for pre-sales details and complete purchasing info.
Pixies also announce that a Baltimore date has been added to the first leg of the tour.  The band will play Rams Head Live on Tuesday, May 14.  Tickets for this show also go on sale this Friday, February 24, and all details are at www.pixiesmusic.com.
Pixies, a long time leader in helping to break the ticket scalper stranglehold, will be working to get their face-value tickets to their fans, and not to touts for inflated resale, something they did very successfully during last Fall's UK tour.  Said Pixies manager Richard Jones, "On this tour, we are asking the promoters and the venues to make avaialble as many tickets as possible for pre-sales.  That way, we can help insure that tickets get into the hands of the fans and not the scalpers.  We've also asked the promoters to remove any secondary site links and to use their anti-tout teams and technology to help combat the scalper market."
Leg Two - the second of three planned for North America - will also include additional New York shows - the initial three NY dates on Leg One are sold out - as well as this cycle's first Canadian shows, scheduled in Toronto and Montreal.   Sunflower Bean, who Rolling Stone called "NYC's coolest young band," will provide support on the first half of the tour with Brooklyn's Mitski ("one of the most compelling voices in the sphere of indie rock" - Pitchfork) opening the shows on the second half. The confirmed itinerary is below and includes the band's upcoming international dates.
On the 2017 dates, Pixies - Joey Santiago/guitar, Black Francis/guitar & vocals, David Lovering/ drums, and bassist Paz Lenchantin - are introducing to its global audiences a brand new stage set designed by their longtime production manager Simon Foster and lighting designer Myles Mangino.  The design is simple and sleek and fashioned around special pods that are positioned behind the band, housing all of the lighting.  Fans can expect a set list comprised of the classics and catalogue rarities as well as newer songs from Indie Cindy and the band's latest release, Head Carrier.  As is the norm, there will be no firm setlist for Pixies' shows; their sets, while pulled from nearly 90 songs that the band has rehearsed and is prepared to play, will change somewhat from night to night with every number determined just before it's performed.
Pixies launched the European leg of this 2016-17 global run last November, playing sold-out shows throughout the UK and wrapping up in Birmingham on December 8.  The band is back on the road as of February 25, playing a series of dates in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and, for the first time, South Africa.  Following the April/May North American leg, Pixies will head to Europe to play a series of major summer festivals.
