Leopold and His Fiction To Begin Summer Tour with Bush & She Wants Revenge

Leopold and His Fiction To Begin Summer Tour

Touring with Bush and She Wants Revenge

New Album Darling Destroyer Out Now

“Husky, roaring vocals in the forefront and more overall confidence than ever before.”
-Baeble Music

“Often pushing his dramatic vocal delivery into the red, band leader Daniel Leopold mixes hard-edged gutter-punk with more traditional elements of neo-soul.”
-Austin 360

“Leopold set the tune alight with his bluesy howl in the afternoon sun. The whole show was a dervish from then on out, climaxing with a pose-striking, punk rock grace note.”
-Austin 360

Austin’s Leopold and His Fiction are heading out for their summer tour supporting Bushand She Wants Revenge promoting their fourth studio album,  Darling Destroyer , out now on ILA Music. After a successful spring run throughout the south where they garnered critical appeal, the band is ready to rock new cities, and connect with new fans. See complete tour dates below.

On their new album, listeners can expect “polished garage and blues rock album than before” according to Never Enough Notes, that “bring together his most accomplished set of songs to date, swinging from the more sombre and acoustic, to wailing guitar level vintage rock.” On stage, the band is full of raw energy and sex appeal, and are sure to leave an impression.
For their fourth studio album,  Darling Destroyer  lead singer Daniel credits his Detroit heritage for the musical influence. “I hear my upbringing in this album more than anything I’ve ever done in my life,” Daniel says. “The songs were telling me, ‘This is what you’re made of, so trust it.’” Equally rooted in dingy garage punk and Motown’s pop-minded R&B, Darling Destroyer burns with a frenzied intensity true to its emotional origins.

Throughout Darling Destroyer, Leopold and His Fiction reveal their gritty ingenuity by merging delicately crafted lyrics with blistering guitar work. Co-produced by Daniel, Vance Powell and Chris “Frenchie” Smith (...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Ringo Deathstarr, Jet), Darling Destroyer proves Daniel’s easy prowess as a frontman, his vocals endlessly shifting from brutal wail to tender serenade.  That unhinged yet nuanced performance reaches a glorious peak on “I’m Caving In,” which Daniel initially penned as a country song but eventually twisted into a heart-stopping blues number.

Future Lives (aka, King of Prussia)'s New Album, 'Mansions' is Out TODAY! (Share Two New Videos)

Watch (And Share) Two New Videos From The Album:
 "California Vibes," and "The Knowing"

Fourteen people played on Future Lives’ debut LP  Mansions , but the heart of Future Lives is six major people. King of Prussia songwriter Brandon Taj Hanick sings, plays guitars and orchestrates. Formerly with The Drive-By Truckers and now with Mike Mills and Japancakes, John Neff bends his pedal steel lines like sine waves etching hummable tunes into the brain. Memphis bred Sarah Robbins stacks layers of rich, crystal clear vocal harmonies that would sound at home on a Staple Singers record. In addition to arranging the vocals with Smile-esque wonder, Sarah’s big bro Nick Robbins (Velveteen Pink/Blue Blood) brings musical inventiveness to his complex, but tasteful, drum parts. Patrick Burke (Giving Tree Band), whose Lynchian flow and precision on bass buoys the jams, isn’t shy about picking out a lead guitar part that David Crosby would twirl his moustache to. Cameron Steuart’s string parts are as cinematic as they are down-home; as much canvas as they are ether. The arrangements are dense, but the expert mixing ears and of John Keane (R.E.M., Vic Chesnutt, Widespread Panic) ensure that every part breathes.

Today Future Lives release their debut album Mansions on vinyl and digital via Soft Magic Records. The band will hit the road for an East Coast tour in July with Roselit Bone and Hanick will play solo shows between Athens and Portland in July/August.

Middle Kids Extend North American Tour

MIDDLE KIDS EXTEND NORTH AMERICAN TOUR, ANNOUNCE MUSIC HALL OF WILLIAMSBURGHEADLINE SHOW ON SEPTEMBER 16
PLAYING LOLLAPALOOZA, LOLLA AFTERPARTY WITH MAC DEMARCO, OSHEAGA, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, AUSTIN CITY LIMITS & BUMBERSHOOT
DEBUT EP OUT NOWFEATURING HIT SINGLE “EDGE OF TOWN”Photo Credit: Maclay HeriotSydney trio Middle Kids are hard at work on their highly anticipated debut album, but will take a break from the studio next month to return to the US to play festivals and their own headline shows. The band will play Lollapalooza (including a very special afterparty with Mac Demarco), Osheaga, and will open for Sylvan Esso as part of the BRIC: Celebrate Brooklyn! series. Also, announcing today is a headlining show at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on September 16th. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 16th.
The band recently stopped by the triple j studios in Sydney to deliver this incredible cover of “Don’t Dream It’s Over” for Like A Version. Stereogum described the track as “vulnerable and acoustic and lovely."Listen to Middle Kids Cover of 'Don’t Dream It’s Over' by Crowded House
Earlier this year, Middle Kids made their Late Night US TV debut with a commanding performance of the hit single “Edge Of Town,” on Conan, cementing their status as a band to watch for 2017. They also delivered buzzworthy performances on KCRWKEXP and Sirius XMU.
Listen to Middle Kids’ Cover of ‘Fill In The Blank’ by Car Seat Headrest
The band’s debut single, Edge Of Town, continues its ascent in alternative radio, picking up new adds from SiriusXM Alt Nation, WWCD, KRBZ, WEQX, KRXF, WEDG and KYRK in addition to continued support from Sirius XMU. The song has been streamed over 7 million times on Spotify.
Led by singer-songwriter-guitarist Hannah Joy, with Tim Fitz (producer and multi-instrumentalist), and Harry Day (drums) rounding out the team, Middle Kids combine echoes of the infamous female-fronted indie rock bands of the 90s and early 2000s, like Sleater-Kinney, The Breeders, and Belly, with thoroughly modern production and a deep love and respect of the songwriting process. The band’s anthemic sound is a combination of hooky tune craft, ripping Music Row-inspired slide guitar leads, and soaring melodic vocals. Middle Kids shine especially bright live, where an added gear takes them from 0 to 60 in quiet-to-loud dynamics with hair-raising emotional impact. There’s a contagious joy to this new band - wide-eyed and optimistic, but with an emotional rawness that touches the nerve of even the first-time listener.

“Heartfelt, clever ruminations at the intersection of indie rock and alt-country” - ROLLING STONE
"the sort of tracks that seem simple on the surface but reveal new flashes of brilliance with each pass, often in the form of an artfully slashing guitar riff or a passionately bellowed vocal from lead singer Hannah Joy.” - STEREOGUM
"Hannah's voice is a little Stevie Nicksie and the jangly guitars sound like they're lifted from an interstitial scene in Singles, but you know sometimes you hear a song and you just like it.” - NOISEY
"How does a band get this good, this quickly? ... the band’s first, self-titled EP is something we can’t seem to shut off." - BILLBOARD

A Giant Dog go all out for their “Bendover” music video

Pyrotechnics. Dancers. Leather. A car that drives directly into something resembling 2001: A Space Odyssey’s Star Gate. These are just a few of the rewards you’ll get from watching A Giant Dog’s “Bendover” music video, the first from their forthcoming album Toy . You deserve it.
Watch and share A Giant Dog’s music video for “Bendover”
A Giant Dog’s Andrew Cashen on director Ed Dougherty’s shoot:
From the band's point of view, the only thing I ever ask of a director is please make us look cool. Trust me, we are not cool people, but it is our job to convince people otherwise. After seeing what Ed accomplished with this video, I am fully confident that he has pulled down the curtain and concealed the dorky wizard behind it.
In true patriotic fashion, A Giant Dog are about to embark on a run of shows up the middle of America and back for the 4th of July. They’ve also just announced a fall tour to flesh out already-announced appearances at Gonerfest and Meltasia. A full list of dates can be found below.

The Palaceer Lazaro shares this poem from The Shogun Shot, which is said to be Quazarz' inspiration for the song “Effeminence”:

To Kujuu: dreamer of the second dream

We met walking the web,
And that once we breathed the same sea air...
Now I think of you forever and never;
The
Qu'en of all my futures, passed,
Tonight the moon is ringed with your name written in chrome,
Your splendor enthroned betrothed to my every thought for endless tomorrows,
I wish we one day soon to lift up
our selves together out of the data mines...
And with the children,
To taste the gilded air of Purple Cliffs and once again,
In log off forever…

“Effeminence” was produced and recorded by The Palaceer Lazaro and Sonny Levine at Dror Lord Studios, with mixing by Levine and Kamal Humphrey at Kamal’s House.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers confirm final stop of 40th Anniversary Tour- Hollywood Bowl, Sept 21

TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS CONFIRM FINAL STOP OF
40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR AT
HOLLYWOOD BOWL, SEPTEMBER 21FEATURING SPECIAL GUESTLUCINDA WILLIAMSSHOW MARKS THE BAND’S SEVENTH PERFORMANCE AT THE HISTORIC VENUETom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ final stop on their extensive North American tour will be at theHollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA on ThursdaySeptember 21. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, June 29 at 10AM PT.This climatic finale will be the band’s seventh performance at the beloved, historic amphitheater.Lucinda Williams will join as the band’s very special guest. Williams has a long history with the band—the band recorded her song “Change the Locks” in 1996 for Songs And Music From She’s The One,’ she opened for the band on the “Echo Tour” in 1999, and most recently, she performed Petty’s songs “Rebels” and “Southern Accents” when he was honored as the 2017 MusiCares Person Of The Year. The tour, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut, has received widespread critical acclaim:“Petty and the Heartbreakers are that rare group—like the Stones, the Boss, Fleetwood Mac and just a few others—who can fill an entire concert with certified mega hits spanning decades.”—Hartford Courant“Petty essentially is classic rock music. To see him on stage is to see the radio come to life…Petty has lived in all of the radios of our lives, even in the age of the algorithm playlist.”—Denver Post“One of America’s most enduring rock and roll bands.”—Fort Worth Star-Telegram“Nearly every song aroused a sing-along, some more uproarious than others, but each evinced the durability of Petty’s songs, which, no matter their age, felt timeless or independent of the decades in which they were born…The Heartbreakers are America’s Rolling Stones: one of its most respectable, esteemed and longest-running rock acts."—Kansas City Star“It was remarkable to consider just how well these songs have aged through the years. So many of these classic Petty cuts seem to exist in the ether, and the very idea of a world without his music is hard to fathom.”—American Songwriter“…his band’s popularity endures, as do the hits spanning decades.”—Chicago Tribune “The best thing about Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers is that this band never plays as if it’s searching for an anthem or immortality. Petty has always been propelled by a strong creative drive, but at the end of the day the band’s jolt comes as much from kinship as kismet. Turns out, only lifelong friends can make sounds like these.”—Huffington Post“It’s a testament to the depth of Tom Petty’s catalog that he can get away with playing ‘I Won’t Back Down’ (recorded by no less than Johnny Cash) and ‘Free Fallin’ (performed probably zillions of times at karaoke bars worldwide) as the sixth and seventh songs of a two-hour set. The number of living popular music performers for whom those two classics would not automatically have to be the show-closing anthems is probably in the single digits…He gave lovely introductions to the Heartbreakers, one of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands ever”—Austin American Statesman“Petty’s understated genius applies not just to his personal demeanor, but to his music. He’s always accessible, without ever being dumb or boring.”—Minnesota Public Radio/The Current “A two-hour-plus rock ‘n’ roll history lesson, replete with audience participation and much gratitude from the man in the spotlight.”—Atlanta Journal Constitution“Not too many rock bands are able to stick around that long, and few of the ones that do last that long can’t still pack arenas and make great albums. Petty and his bandmates still do that.”—Bradenton Herald“It’s time we start claiming ownership of the greatest American rock band of all time: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers…Petty's an icon, a Hall of Famer, one of the all-time great rock songsmiths.”—Tampa Bay Times“So why was Saturday’s concert by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers so satisfying…Because Petty has written and recorded so many songs that have become part of the classic-rock songbook.”—Minneapolis Star Tribune“Delivering a retrospective show that not only rekindled memories but also stood as a spirited tribute to a sound unbound by fleeting style.”—The Columbus Dispatch “The iconic rock collective gave a performance that served as a reminder to the crowd that they were truly in the presence of living legends.”—Red Dirt Report “Not many classic rock bands get to enjoy a 40th anniversary and even fewer are able to do so by selling out arenas wherever they play. In the case of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, they’re celebrating the occasion with as polished a set as any band you’ll see.”—Best Classic Bands“Petty then led his troupe through a career-spanning performance that included one masterful hit after another.”—JambaseAdditionally, Chris Stapleton, Peter Wolf, The Lumineers and The Shelters will perform as special guests on coming North American dates this summer. The band will also headline London’s Hyde Park as part of Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time with special guests Stevie Nicks, The Lumineers and The Shelters—this will be their only European performance of 2017. The tour will follow the release of Broken Social Scene's upcoming album  Hug of T hunder , out on Arts & Crafts on July 7th, 2017BSS have released three songs from the record to date, listen to "Halfway Home," " Hug of Thunder," and "Skyline" now.

Produced by Joe Chiccarelli and mixed by Shawn EverettHug Of Thunder is everything BSS fans love from the Canadian collective and then some, an album overflowing with glorious open chords, multi-voice harmonies, spacious psychedelia-tinted breakdowns, and more.  It is a panoramic, expansive album that manages to be both epic and intimate; and like all things BSS, in troubled times, it offers a serotonin rush of positivity.  Since their inception in the early Aughts, BSS have always pushed sonic boundaries while remaining reverent of a perfect chorus; almost twenty years down the line, Hug Of Thunder sharpens that balance.  The record's twelve songs refract the band's varying emotions, methods, and techniques in ways that not only reference their other albums, but surpass them.  Hug Of Thunder is righteous but warm, angry but loving, melodic but uncompromising.  And if you've ever fallen in love with Broken Social Scene - as many of us have - it is a perfect return that was truly worth the wait.

"With all-voices blazing and a horn section blaring, it was Broken Social Scene in Fleetwood Mac mode, but with lots of unexpected turns jutting out from mini-explosions of euphoria throughout." NPR on "Halfway Home""'Skyline,'  the third single off their forthcoming album Hug of Thunder, is a return to form, where aimless roaming sounds remarkably intimate." - Pitchfork"Broken Social Scene songs are propelled by the size of the group, and when it all converges they're able to pull optimism from fear of aging, heartbreak, and the rigors of modern life." - Vulture"They're still making songs that sound vast and cacophonous, tracks that are built to flood the brain with serotonin. WIDOWSPEAK --Announce new album "Expect The Best" -- August 25. NPR premieres first single "Dog"

WIDOWSPEAK ANNOUNCE FORTHCOMING ALBUM EXPECT THE BEST
LP OUT VIA CAPTURED TRACKS AUGUST 25
VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE "DOG" PREMIERES VIA NPR
FALL TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
Widowspeak are excited to announce the August 25 release of a new album, Expect The Best , via Captured Tracks. Today the band reveals a video for the first single, "Dog," which premiered via  NPR's First Watch .  Widowspeak's Molly Hamilton told NPR the song is, "about the compulsion to move on from things and places, even people, when you're not necessarily ready to. Sometimes, I get caught up in 'the grass is always greener' mentalities, or cling to an idea that 'I'd be happy if...' and then make a drastic change. Then, inevitably, I feel restless a few months later and it starts again."  Read the rest of the Q&A here.   NPR  note, "Widowspeak fuses lightness and darkness like few others"  and of "Dog" they say it "captures Widowspeak's distinct mix perfectly, while speaking to larger internal conflicts."
Watch "Dog" Here
The video for "Dog" was directed by musician/artist Otium,and filmed in Tacoma, WA.   In support of the new album Widowspeak have confirmed a Fall tour that kicks offSeptember 8 at The Great Scott in Boston, MA and concludes at Brooklyn'sRough Trade on October 13.  Along the way the tour stops in TorontoLos Angeles and Chicago.  Widowspeak are also playing in Teulon, MB on July 28 as part of the Ignite Retreats (Real Love Summer Fest).  The full tour is listed below.  On, Expect The Best, Widowspeak use familiar aesthetics as a narrative device, a purposeful nostalgic backdrop for songs that ask, "How did we get here?" Sonically, they exist somewhere in the overlap between somber indie rock, dream pop, slow-core and their own invented genre, "cowboy grunge." At the heart of the band, there is a palpable duality, a push and pull between the delicate and the deliberate: the contrast of lead singer-songwriter Molly Hamilton's strikingly beautiful voice and poignant melodies with the terrestrial reality of being a four-piece rock band.  Expect the Best sees Widowspeak finding their greatest balance between opposing forces: darkness and light, quiet and loud, tension and calm.
The album was written while Hamilton was living in Tacoma, Washington after previous stints in upstate New York and Brooklyn. So much moving around, and specifically a move back to the place she grew up, was the catalyst for a record concerned with self-examination and the sense of dread that comes from feeling adrift - a feeling that prevails on today's single "Dog."

Expect the Best is the follow up to 2015's All Yours. While previous albums were conceived as a duo with lead guitarist Robert Earl Thomas, the new LP finds Widowspeak playing to the specific strengths of the current touring incarnation (James Jano on drums, Willy Muse on bass). The album, recorded by Kevin MacMahon(SwansReal Estate), exhibits a marked increase in energy that reflects the band's live show and the organic way it was created: by four people in a room together. The band collectively navigate dynamic changes with subtlety and restraint; the nine tracks here reach highs of wide-eyed lushness and plumb the depths of resigned melancholy. Their usual palette of dusty guitars and angular twang are still here front and center, but now with a bit more 90s homage, even if abstractly. The Pacific Northwest influences creep in throughout, as do varying flavors of New York's legacy, the city the band still partially calls home.
Hamilton says of the album, "In the past I've felt compelled to write songs that are more optimistic than I'm actually feeling, as if I could make it true, as if everything in the past was significant or beautiful in a way, even if it was painful. But the truth is that not everything makes sense, and not every day of your life is an experience of clear cut emotional clarity," says Hamilton. "I struggle with this compulsion to pull away from people, pull away from the things I enjoy doing, and sometimes literally picking up and moving away when I am feeling uneasy and anxious about my future in a given space, physical or mental. Social media these days can exacerbate that as well."
Expect the Best is Widowspeak's heaviest record to date, but never loses the sense of quiet intimacy that they are known for.
