NPR Music says of the album: “Beach House has spent 13 years and six albums perfecting a hazy dream-pop sound that's as versatile as it is enduringly, endearingly simple. Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally make brooding, deliberately paced music that still sparkles and sweetens in surprising ways — a contradiction summed up by the title of one of Beach House's best records, Depression Cherry...Given its title, B-Sides And Rarities is upfront about being an exercise for enthusiasts, completists and other loving obsessives. But more casual fans shouldn't shrug it off, either. You could argue, but please don't because I have a headache, that GBV is never not on a roll, that Robert Pollard's output plows past the word "prolific" like prolific is standing still in a snowbank; and that's true, but this new version of the band (Doug Gillard, Bobby Bare Jr, Mark Shue, Kevin March) has given Pollard new tools to complement his song-hammer. Thus, ergo, quod erat demonstrandum: roll.
Hot on the heels of the smothered-in-plaudits double album August By Cake comes this hot and heavy fifteen-tune long player, a melody-dense thwack to the earholes that will both energize you and deplete your body of its remaining music-appreciation enzymes. Recorded by the band in New York, and by Bob in Ohio, How Do You Spell Heaven capitalizes on the current incarnation's tour-buffed shine without sacrificing eternal GBV verities such as but not limited to: off-kilter rhythmic jolts; krazy chords; purposefully imperfect harmonies; and fragmented structures that start and stop on a coin of small denomination and go somewhere else, and quickly.
For example: Leadoff track "The Birthday Democrats" features a surfeit of pop hooks and swaggering sure-footed wordplay before dissolving like a perfect dream into Beatles-esque sound collage. "King 007" starts off like an acoustic demo from Tommy before shifting gears into a galloping riff-driven hyperspace guitar battle, before pivoting back to some kind of weirdo hybrid of the two… and then stops short just when you think you've got the thing pinned down. Today The Bluegrass Situation has premiered a live video of "Church And State" fromEvolutionary War. About the song, Ruby Force's Erin McLaughlin says, "This song came out of a mystically transitional phase in life when my best girlfriends and I were living in a tiny Victorian house on the literal corner of Church and State streets in Redlands, California. We were playing at the Martini Lounge on Saturday nights and singing harmonies in the church band on Sunday mornings. So, you know, the song pretty much used me to write itself."
Earlier this month, Rolling Stone Country included Ruby Force in their June Artists To Watch feature and is running an exclusive premiere of "Ode To Vic Chesnutt" from her forthcoming release. Ruby Force's Erin McLaughlin told Rolling Stone, "Evolutionary War is sort of a collection, like a box of photos you find from a certain period of life. It strings together like a narrative essentially, about how I love. If these songs can find their way into people's hearts, not to mention playlists, I would feel like I’ve accomplished something of eternal value. It would also be wicked sweet if this record could bring something tangible back home: an audience, some discourse, that daily bread. Then I'd just do it again and again."

The demand for Depeche Mode’s unparalleled live show has not once slowed down, with the trio becoming the first band in history to add a fourth show at the legendary Hollywood Bowl, on Oct. 18th as part of their Global Spirit Tour. The band is scheduled to perform on Oct. 12, 14, 16 and 18, making this the first time a band has performed four consecutive shows at the Hollywood Bowl and marking a major milestone for the famed LA venue. Depeche Mode is currently on the European stadium leg of the Global Spirit Tour, and will continue on to a 30-date North American tour in August before returning to Europe in the fall and Latin America in March 2018. “Going Backwards” is one of many key tracks from Spirit, Depeche Mode’s 14th studio album. Produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, the album debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries including Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal and Denmark. Proving to be not only a fan but critic favorite, Spiritadditionally debuted in the Top 10 in 15 countries, including coming in at No. 5 in the United States and the United Kingdom.
The demand for Depeche Mode’s unparalleled live show has not once slowed down, with the trio becoming the first band in history to add a fourth show at the legendary Hollywood Bowl, on Oct. 18th as part of their Global Spirit Tour. The band is scheduled to perform on Oct. 12, 14, 16 and 18, making this the first time a band has performed four consecutive shows at the Hollywood Bowl and marking a major milestone for the famed LA venue. Depeche Mode is currently on the European stadium leg of the Global Spirit Tour, and will continue on to a 30-date North American tour in August before returning to Europe in the fall and Latin America in March 2018. The Global Spirit Touris poised to be a record-breaking tour with well over 1.5 million tickets already sold.

GOODNIGHT RHONDA LEE , her first record in three years , was recorded with Fort Worth, TX's Nile City Sound, a.k.a. producers Austin Jenkins, Josh Block, and Chris Vivion (Leon Bridges-), with additional mixing by Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes).The album, a vintage soul album inspired legendary artists like Dusty Springfield, Candi Staton, Roy Orbison and Janis Joplin, was first heralded last November with the release of "A Little Crazy," available now on Spotify, iTunes and Bandcamp. Co-written with Chris Isaak, the track premiered via Brooklyn Vegan , which hailed it as "a delicate, soulful ballad." In addition, Atkins's stellar live performance of "A Little Crazy" was an undisputed highlight of Oscar® winner Cameron Crowe's 2016 Showtime series, Roadies.
Atkins has been celebrating GOODNIGHT, RHONDA LEE and her new relationship with Single Lock Records with a wide-ranging run of live dates including a just completed performance at Hunter Mountain, NY's Mountain Jam as well as an appearance at this year's Newport Folk Festival. "I wanted people to really hear my voice," Rita reveals of her new music. "So much has changed for me since then personally and professionally which has allowed me to develop as an artist." Rita adds, "I cannot wait to take these new songs out on tour, that's what I live for. As soon as I get the chance I'm going to hit the road with a band."Along with releasing new music, Rita has been chosen by the ABC Television Network to host their summer music competition series "Boy Band," which premieres tonight, June 22 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT). In "Boy Band," undiscovered young talent from around the country battle it out to become a member of the next great music sensation.
