Ice Balloons (Supergroup of TV on the Radio, Samiam, Surfbort, Wild Yaks) Debut New Track/Announce New Record via Stereogum
Ice Balloons Premieres
“Calypso Heartworm”
LISTEN NOW via Stereogum
Fiesta is out on August 11th 2017 via Volar Records
"It’s a droning noise-punk assault that feels both primitive and futuristic, and it’s even better if you picture it being sung by a giant golden fly. "
- Stereogum“...a squally, reverb heavy racket that sounds like 1200 glass planets shattering while a garage punk band plays on a strip of tarmac as Mad Max-style denizens drag race around them.”
- Noisey
Listen to the Track Here
From the minds of mischief makers, no-wave, noise-punk band Ice Balloons - Kyp Malone (TV On The Radio), Sean Kennerly (Samiam), Sean Powell (Fuckemos, Surfbort), Giselle Reiber (Midnight Masses), Dan Scinta (Wild Yaks) and BA Miale- comes the first single “Calypso Heartworm”

Listen to the Track Here Bringing together elements from each of these band members’ pasts - this single shows how diverse this team can get. The dissonance created by the vocals paired with the substantial sounds of washed out drums carries the listeners down a kaleidoscope of noise like never heard before. It’s to be noted that many songs from Fiesta involve inspirations from insects. What that means you’ll have to find out - take “Calypso Heartworm” as your first test.Aiming to highlight the sensation of distance from the driving forces of everyday reality - Ice Balloons are ready to take you anywhere, nowhere and somewhere in between.
Fiesta is out August 11, 2017 on limited color vinyl and all digital formats on Volar Records. Preorders of the vinyl are available at the Volar Bandcamp.

Oakland-based pop-rockers The Tambo Rays to release new EP, Recharge

The Tambo Rays - "Yes and No" - YouTube // SoundCloud
Oakland-based pop-rockers The Tambo Raysto release new EP, Recharge, out July 17th via OIM Records

“...the band is led by saccharine-voiced Sara DaMert, who lends a cherubic, innocent feel to the Tambo Rays’ bubbly, indie-pop jams.” - SF Weekly
Listen: The Tambo Rays - “Get It Right Now” - https://soundcloud.com/oimrecords/the-tambo-rays-get-it-right-now-1
(Brooklyn, NY) In examining the sound, story and circumstances injected into Oakland-based indie-pop-rock band The Tambo Rays’ new EP, you would be hard pressed to come up with a more fitting title than Recharge.
The project has been on again off again since its inception in 2012 by founder Brian DaMert (guitar, vox) who soon found an immediately furthered kinship with his sister, Sara (lead vox), who joined with no previous musical experience. Joined by Greg Sellin (bass/ back vox) and Bob Jakubs (drums), The Tambo Rays would soon go on to release their debut EP, Kaleidoscope.
The momentum would be quickly interrupted, however, as the DaMert’s and Sellin found success as members of WATERS with the failing health of Brian and Sara’s father weighing on them through his passing in 2015.
“The past two years have been a healing process,” shares Brian. “Writing music was a form of therapy during these turbulent times, what came out of it was this EP.”
With Recharge, The Tambo Rays craft buoyant, sun-soaked pop-rock as Sara’s infectious vocals and energy spring out like the prismatic light structures their father was famous for creating in the 70s. The EPs five life-affirming tracks respond to the uncertainties we all face with radiant positivity and saccharine, driving pop-rock reminiscent of golden-era Blondie. The EP also marks the band’s first release with Lisa Weiss (keys) who joined in 2016.
Look for Recharge out July 17th via OIM Records and be sure to follow The Tambo Rays on any of their social channels detailed below.

COLD WAR KIDS ANNOUNCE FREE HEADLINE SHOW IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SOFAR SOUNDS AND METRO ART PRESENTS AT UNION STATION IN LOS ANGELES

New Album LA Divine Out Now On Capitol Records

"The soulful lyrics and sonic reverence of (LA Divine) is overwhelmingly compelling, addictive and even mesmerizing." - The Huffington Post "California rock quartet follows up lead single "Love is Mystical" with the equally enticing "So Tied Up". This one is a fast -paced toe tapper with a stadium-sized arrangement. As far as angsty passionate themes to conflicted love affairs go, this one ticks all the right boxes." - TIME Magazine Cold War Kids will perform a free show at Union Station in Los Angeles on Friday, June 23rd. The show, in partnership with Sofar Sounds, and Metro Art Presents is open to the public on a first come first service basis and fans can visitwww.sofarsounds.com/comp/cold-war-kids-23rd-June to enter to win a limited number of guaranteed entry spots to the show. The band's new album LA Divine - their sixth studio L.P. and first for Capitol Records is out now. The album pays tribute to Los Angeles in all its strange glory, embodying the Long Beach band's endless fascination with their adopted hometown. Produced by their frequent collaborator Lars Stalfors (Health, Local Natives), the album's lead single "Love Is Mystical," was praised by NME for taking the band's "rousing and soulful anthemics to new heights." The single held the No. 1 spot for Most Increased Plays at AAA radio for two consecutive weeks, the No. 1 spot on the Alt 18 Countdown for four consecutive weeks and hit #2 at Alternative and has been in the Top 5 at AAA radio for ten consecutive weeks. The song is approaching 17 million streams worldwide and hit #4 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. LA Divine also features the tracks, "Wilshire Protest" which contemplates LA's culture of isolation while the hazy and distorted "LA River" captures a dreamlike desperation. British singer/songwriter Bishop Briggs lends her formidable vocals to the stomping, gospel-infused "So Tied Up," which shines a light on everyday struggle, but burns with the promise of hope. Videos for the tracks "Can We Hang On?" , "So Tied Up" Ft. Bishop Briggs and "Restless" are now streaming on Vevo. Coming on the heels of 2014's Hold My Home - which featured the chart-topping, Gold-certified single "First" - LA Divine is Cold War Kids' most expansive and ambitious effort so far. The band just wrapped a sold out North American headline tour and will also join Young The Giant on the "Home of the Strange Tour," beginning August 2nd in Louisville, KY. The run will include a performance at Central Park SummerStage and continue on through the end of September. Full itinerary and tickets for all shows are available at coldwarkids.com . Formed in 2004 in Fullerton, CA, Cold War Kids released their breakthrough debut Robbers & Cowards to considerable acclaim in 2006. The darker Loyalty To Loyalty followed two years later, while 2011's Mine Is Yours introduced deeper qualities to the eclectic group's catalog. 2013's Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, featuring the hit single "Miracle Mile," was a return to their raw live sound. The band has sold more than 600,000 albums, over two million singles, and racked up over 200 million streams to date. Cold War Kids are Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz, and David Quon. Ariel Pink announces new album and tour, debuts new video
ARIEL PINK TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM,
DEDICATED TO BOBBY JAMESON,
SEPTEMBER 15 ON MEXICAN SUMMERVideo for Album’s First Single, “Another Weekend,” Out Today North American Tour Begins October 13Pre-order Dedicated to Bobby Jameson Here
Ariel Pink will release his new album, Dedicated to Bobby Jameson, on September 15. The recording is his first solo album since his highly acclaimed 2014 prog-pop opus pom pom, and first full-length release with the Brooklyn-based independent label Mexican Summer. Today, Pink also announces a fall tour of North America (see dates below), in which he will perform songs from Dedicated to Bobby Jameson and the singular body of work he has created over the first two decades of his career, and debuts a video for “Another Weekend” directed by Grant Singer, the first single from the new album.
The new release’s title makes a direct and heartfelt reference to a real-life Los Angeles musician, long presumed dead, who resurfaced online in 2007 after 35 reclusive years to pen his autobiography and tragic life story in a series of blogs and YouTube tirades. “His book and life resonated with me to such a degree that I felt a need to dedicate my latest record to him,” Pink states.
Dedicated to Bobby Jameson begins at the end and ends at the beginning. “We follow the protagonist through a battery of tests and milestones, the first of which sees him reborn into life out of death,” Pink explains, referencing the opening track, “Time to Meet Your God.” “From there, he seesaws his way between the innocent love and the rock-solid edifice of childhood-worn trauma that together constitute his lifelong initiation into the realm of artifice and theatrical disposability.”
Ariel Pink’s previous solo release, pom pom, received a Best New Music designation fromPitchfork; The New York Times described it as “a delightful, typically schizophrenic collection: wickedly dark and funny one moment, sweet and sentimental the next, and at other times as gleefully unhinged as Pink has ever been.” SPIN noted that it’s a record “full of unforgettably kaleidoscopic melodies.” Pink has prolifically written, recorded and released his singular brand of pop music for well over two decades. Dedicated to Bobby Jameson sees Ariel Pink returning to the setting of his first recordings: his bedroom.Raised in Beverly Hills, Ariel Pink started out as a visual artist before becoming a recording artist in the late ‘90s while attending Cal Arts. Though critically misunderstood at the time, Pink’s early, lo-fi recordings wielded an enormous influence with insiders and outsiders, including Animal Collective who signed him to their Paw Tracks imprint in 2003. In the late 2000s, Pink’s fortunes with critics began to reverse, and his resulting single, “Round and Round” (off Before Today), was named the #1 Record of 2010 by Pitchfork.

To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin’s sense of melody and arrangement… Motorhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper… or something like that.”So speaks Dave Grohl of the mission statement made manifest inFoo Fighters’ ninth epic, the aptly-titled Concrete and Gold, due outSeptember 15 worldwide on Roswell Records / RCA Records and available for preorder now.Just as Foo Fighters’ anthem of the summer “Run” “opens as a dreamy, slow burner then… quickly turns heavy as thunder” (BILLBOARD) with its “huge triumphant chorus” (STEREOGUM), Concrete and Gold marries some of the most insanely heavy FF riffs ever with lush harmonic complexities courtesy of a first time team-up with producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia, Pink). This unlikely alliance came about through a bizarre sequence of surprise musical obsessions and chance encounters: Listening to the radio during a drive roughly four years ago, Grohl first heard “Again and Again” by Kurstin’s band The Bird & The Bee—“It blew my mind… it was so much more sophisticated than anything I’d ever heard and I became obsessed.”Some months later, Grohl would randomly spot and fanboy out over “the guy from The Bird & The Bee!” a/k/a Greg Kurstin. The two became fast friends over common musical loves with Grohl learning that his new favorite band had been on hiatus due to Kurstin’s workload as a producer. While Foo Fighters recorded and released Sonic Highways, broke some bones and packed stadiums and arenas on one of the top five grossing tours of 2015, and gifted fans with the St. Cecilia EP, “Greg was becoming one of the biggest producers in the world,” Grohl recalls. With the writing and recording of the next Foo Fighters album on the horizon, Grohl was eager as always to find fresh challenges for the band: “So I think maybe Greg is the guy that we ask to be our producer because he’s never made a heavy rock record before and we’ve never worked with a pop producer.” Darrel Thorp (Beck, Radiohead) was soon enlisted to mix and engineer. This collective conceived a blueprint of the new record as “Motorhead’s version ofSgt. Pepper… or something like that,” secretly booking into Hollywood’s esteemed EastWest studios to consummate this marriage of extremes… or as Grohl puts it: “Our noise and Greg’s big brain and all of his sophisticated arrangements and composition.”Months, sounds and stories (more on those soon, promise) and so many guitars later, the 11-Grammy-winning, 25+ million-record-selling, last great American stadium rock band had completed its most ambitious album ever—which naturally begat another insane challenge: How to celebrate music & throw the ultimate “backyard party for 50,000 people”…What came to Grohl in that vision will become reality October 7 when Foo Fighters’ CAL JAM 17 takes over Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA. In addition to being Foo Fighters’ biggest ever one-day U.S. headline, in the spirit of the original California Jam, this daylong marathon of eating, drinking and rocking features an absolutely unfuckwithable lineup: Queens of the Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, Liam Gallagher, The Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice, Bob Mould, The Struts, Bully, Circa Waves, Babes in Toyland, Adia Victoria, Fireball Ministry, The Obsessed, Pinky Pinky, Starcrawler, White Reaper… And in addition to 12 hours of rock and roll good times, Cal Jam 17 offers camping, carnival rides, a water park, attractions, a mobile recording studio & so much more. Chad VanGaalen’s Light Information available on Sep. 8th + shares 2017 dates + new track "Old Heads"
Sub Pop to release Chad VanGaalen’s
Light Information on September 8th

Shares 2017 international tour dates
Light Information will be available in Canada from Flemish Eye and the rest of the world from Sub Pop
Chad VanGaalen will release Light Information, the creative polymath’s sixth album, on CD / LP / DL / CS on September 8th in Canada via Flemish Eye and the rest of the world through Sub Pop.
While alienation has always been a theme of VanGaalen’s music, Light Information draws on a new kind of wisdom--and anxiety--gained as he watches his kids growing up. “Being a parent has given me a sort of alternate perspective, worrying about exposure to a new type of consciousness that's happening through the internet,” he says. “I didn’t have that growing up, and I’m maybe trying to preserve a little bit of that selfishly for my kids.”
Light Information features the standouts “Old Heads” [listen here], “Pine & Clover,” and Mind Hijacker’s Curse.” As always, VanGaalen wrote, played, and produced all of the music on the album (save Ryan Bourne’s bass part on “Mystery Elementals” and vocals on “Static Shape” from his young daughters Ezzy and Pip), and designed the cover art. Light Information emerged from the experimental instruments that fill VanGaalen’s Calgary garage studio. Among them is a beloved Korg 770 monosynth, which VanGaalen coveted for years before fixing one up and devoting a lot of recent energy to recording “duets” with it. One of these, “Prep Piano and 770,” is the lone instrumental on Light Information, more atmosphere and chord bursts than the rest of the album’s hooky rock narrative.
“If I was going to go out and buy a record, I would probably want it to sound only like that,” says VanGaalen. “That one’s for me.”
Throughout the dark-wave reverb of Light Information are stories of paranoia, disembodiment, and isolation--but there’s also playfulness, empathy, and intimacy.
Light Information is available for preorder now from Sub Pop and Flemish Eye. LP preorders of the album frommegamart.subpop.com and select independent retailers will receive the limited Loser edition on crystal clear vinyl (while supplies last). There will also be a new T-shirt design available.
Chad VanGaalen has also scheduled fall 2017 international tour dates in support of Light Information. Sevdaliza drops new video ft. iconic gay adult film actor
One of the most innovative artists in recent years, Iranian-born Dutch artist Sevdaliza shares a remarkable new video for her track "Bluecid" today, which premiered on Harper's Bazaar. Featuring one of France's most iconic gay porn stars, François Sagat, as Sevdaliza's smoldering partner, they run through a powerfully seductive dance routine over the haunting song. It was written and directed by Sevdaliza and her longtime collaborator, Zahra Reijs. It's off her new self-released ISON album that debuted at #1 on the iTunes Electronic charts in the US, Poland, the Netherlands and landed in the top #5 in several other regions, including France, Canada, Germany and the UK.
She also performs at Webster Hall in New York tonight, wrapping up her first-ever headlining US shows, all of which sold out immediately.

From Sevdaliza:
'And i could only have you in my dreams, so it seems.'
My sage cried out to him: "You think, perhaps, this is the Duke of Athens, who in the world put you to death. Get away, you beast, for this man does not come tutored by your sister; he comes to view your punishments."
