Icelandic Rockers Kaleo Perform on Good Morning America July 11

ICELANDIC ROCKERS KALEO PERFORM ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA on July 11
Los Angeles, CA - July 10, 2017 - Icelandic rockers Kaleo will perform their single "No Good" off their critically acclaimed debut album A/B on Good Morning America on Tuesday, July 11. Led by singer JJ Julius Son, Kaleo delivers a distinctive blend of bluesy alt rock with "otherworldly vocals" (Rolling Stone).  To listen to "No Good," click here: http://bit.ly/1TXJtIu.
Kaleo's appearance on Good Morning America continues a prolific year of live performances for the band. Since the release of the Elektra/Atlantic debut "A/B," Kaleo has been an unstoppable force around the globe, playing some of the world's largest festival stages including Coachella, Firefly and Bonnaroo as well as performing at European festivals such as Tinderbox in Denmark. Kaleo is also set to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August.
Kaleo's performance on Good Morning America follows a number of major TV appearances including ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well as NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers, TBS' Conan and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Kaleo's A/B includes the multi-format rock singles, "All The Pretty Girls," "No Good," and the #1 alternative breakthrough "Way Down We Go." "Way Down We Go" marked the band's fourth top 10 hit at three different radio formats in the US. "Way Down We Go" has been certified GOLD in the US, United Kingdom, Belgium, Ireland, Germany and South Africa and platinum in Russia and Canada, where it reached #3 on the Alternative radio chart. "All The Pretty Girls" and "No Good" have been certified GOLD in Canada. The album is also certified GOLD in Russia.
Fans will have the opportunity to experience Kaleo live through the "Kaleo Express" tour, kicking off at The House of Blues in Anaheim, CA on August 25. The band will perform in major cities nationwide including The Wiltern in Los Angeles on August 26, The Paramount Theater in Denver, CO on September 22, The Moody Theater in Austin, TX on September 29 and the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on October 21. The "Kaleo Express" Tour will be the band's second headlining tour, following their nearly sold out "Handprint Tour" last fall, which had a two-month-long international run.  Singer/songwriter ZZ Ward, Wilder and The Shelters will support on select North American dates and Judah & The Lion will support on select international show dates.

WHAT CRITICS ARE SAYING ABOUT KALEO:  "The Icelandic foursome begin with a Bon Iver-y hush, then bloom into holy fervor."- Entertainment Weekly "The band's dark, spooky ballad 'Way Down We Go' is the perfect showcase of Julius Son's otherworldly vocals."- Rolling Stone "Kaleo is a mix of Southern influences, from soft and sweet folk songs to blues rock and jagged '70's guitar anthems."- The Associated Press "[A/B] stands as a perfect example of Kaleo having universality in good songwriting that works across countries."- Noisey / Vice "...falsetto-fueled balladry meets Icelandic grandiosity."- NPR  "Kaleo hail from Mosfellsbaer, Iceland, but you wouldn't know it by frontman JJ Julius Son's fine-tuned biker-soul growl or the overheated garage blues on the band's major-label debut."- Rolling Stone

THE SHINS EXTEND WORLDWIDE TOUR, ANNOUNCE NEW FALL TOUR DATES

THE SHINS EXTEND WORLDWIDE TOUR,
ANNOUNCE NEW FALL TOUR DATES

BAIO SUPPORTING DATES IN NOVEMBER

#SHINSVANCONTEST WINNERS MERTLE OPENING TOMORROW
IN NIAGARA FALLS AND JULY 27 IN GRAND RAPIDSThe Shins have announced new tour dates today, extending what is already a huge worldwide tour in support of their fantastic fifth studio album, Heartworms. The additional dates include The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on September 29 with special guests Foxygen and Day Wave, plus Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on October 7 with special guest Day Wave, and The Anthem in Washington, DC on November 2 with special guest Baio. Tickets for the three shows go on sale this Friday, July 14 at 10am local time. See below for all tour dates, including summer festival stops at Lollapalooza and Osheaga, as well as a November run with support from Baio.

The Shins recently announced the winner of a contest to win their first-ever van. After weeks of fierce competition, Michigan-based trio Mertle’s cover of “Painting A Hole”beat out hundreds of submissions to win the grand prize. The Shins have invited Mertle to open for them tomorrow, July 11 in Niagara Falls as well as July 27 in Grand Rapids. Watch Mertle’s excitement as James Mercer pays them a surprise visit at their home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan to personally deliver the newly refurbished 1990 Ford 350 Clubwagon HERE!

Produced by James Mercer, The Shins’ fifth album, Heartworms, was released March 10 to a wave of acclaim: Entertainment Weekly called Heartworms the “band’s boldest album yet” and “a rewarding and singular addition to the Shins’ catalog,” Rolling Stone lauded its “home-brewed feel, heavy on Beach Boys grandeur, New Wave kicks, squiggly synth-pop and warm-weather soft rock – with lyrics tenderly balanced between midlife malaise and youthful romanticism. The result is some of the most charming music he's ever made,” while Time magazine opined “Heartworms works on a grander scale, with ornate sonic tableaux.”

Heartworms  is available everywhere now via Aural Apothecary/Columbia Records.

U2 THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017

U2 THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017BIGGEST TOUR OF THE YEAR SURPASSES 2.4 MILLION TICKETS SOLDFIRST NORTH AMERICAN LEG WRAPS TO RAVE REVIEWS HAVING PLAYED TO MORE THAN 1 MILLION FANSNEW SHOWS SELLING OUT IN NORTH AMERICA, MEXICO & SOUTH AMERICA
Having played to more than one million fans, the first North American leg of U2’s The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 came to a triumphant close July 1st at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. With ticket sales surpassing 2.4 million across North and South America, the UK and Europe, and Mexico, The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 has reaffirmed its standing as the most commercially and critically successful tour of the year. The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, produced by Live Nation Global Touring, opened May 12th at BC Place in Vancouver and made its U.S. debut May 14th at CenturyLink Field in Seattle—the latter kicking off some of the most enthusiastic critical notes in the history of U2’s relationship with America. Rolling Stone hailed the band as “a live act simply without peer,” USA Today noted “Thirty years can’t dull searing music, hopeful lyrics or the captivating Irish band behind them,” while The New York Times added “For the performance of The Joshua Tree… the band members took places on the full-sized stadium stage. They were ascending the way their career did… The band was dwarfed, but the music wasn’t. Larry Mullen Jr. on drums, Adam Clayton on bass and the Edge on guitar tore into the urgent rhythmic flux of ‘Where the Streets Have No Name.’ Against the craggy postpunk groove of ‘Bullet the Blue Sky,’ both Bono’s falsetto and the Edge’s guitar leads were keening sirens.”The reviews of The Joshua Tree Tour 2017’s opening weekend set a tone that intensified throughout a North American run featuring 20 sold out stadium dates and U2’s first ever U.S. festival headline June 9th at Bonnaroo. Reviews for the shows have been consistently excellent, with some more recent highlights including:“The thing about U2 is that, in almost any of their forms these past four decades, they always offer some degree of transcendence. They can’t help it… This is also what makes them what they are — legends, an institution, well beyond the levels of even some of our biggest stars today… These are songs that reminded you how many different kinds of people across countries and generations one artist, one voice can impact — and, in turn, they are songs that remind you that fighting for a better world, even when it zigs and zags over thirty years, might just be worth it.”—STEREOGUM“U2’s Two-Hour Pep Talk is Exactly What We Need Right Now… The best U2 songs cast life as a garden of possibilities while pushing back at forces that seek to limit them. This Joshua Tree tour wisely plays just those songs. It is a two-hour pep talk. It is a technological spectacle. It is a warm bath for the soul. It will knock you on your ass.”—VULTURE“I have left every U2 concert feeling like some measure of my humanity had been restored after being worn down by the blistering winds of the daily shit storm we call living. Last night was no exception.”—PHAWKER“An uplifting return to Joshua Tree — and much more… Sunday’s sold-out concert at Gillette Stadium commemorated the album’s 30th anniversary by playing it in full, and it served as both a reminder of and reckoning with the power that fell into U2’s grasp at that moment in its history.”—BOSTON GLOBEU2’s The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 heads to the UK and Europe where it kicks off with two nights in London on July 8th & 9th followed by concerts in Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels. It will then relaunch in North America September 3rd with a return to Detroit – the city where U2 played its first ever headline stadium show back on April 30th, 1987 at the Silverdome on the original Joshua Tree Tour. The tour’s limited return to North America will include stops in Buffalo, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Kansas City, New Orleans, St. Louis, Phoenix and San Diego. The tour will then head to Mexico City followed by concerts in Bogota, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Sao Paulo.Beck will be special guest for the upcoming North American dates. In Mexico and South America, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have been confirmed as special guest.U2 The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 is produced by Live Nation Global Touring. Hanne Hukkelberg embarks down a cyber-social rabbit hole on 'IRL'

Hanne Hukkelberg embarks down a cyber-social rabbit hole on  'IRL' — "...one of the best writers of electronic pop music the Nordics has produced in the last decade. Her new album is set to be something special." - The Line Of Best Fit

— “tightly orchestrated pop” - Pitchfork

— “finely crafted pop” - The GuardianHanne Hukkelberg returns – in relatively short succession – with new single ‘IRL’, signalling a real life renaissance for one of Norway’s most acclaimed, influential and vital artists. Hanne Hukkelberg's 5th album will be out later this year.
 Stream ‘IRL’ on SoundCloud here
(or by clicking on the player below)

‘IRL’ follows Hukkelberg’s first new music in five years, ‘The Whip’ – both chronologically and conceptually – serving a continued study of cyber society and virtual reality. ‘The Whip’ observes the filtered pursuit of perfection, while ‘IRL’ cautions constant connection and the loss of self to cyber: “I’m so social, baby, but I don’t know myself…”

“The lyric is inspired by the parallel reality we live in – the digital reality, internet and social media especially,” Hukkelberg explains. “This has such an impact on my life and I’m often made aware of how addicted I am to this 'beast’. How can something that is not part of our basic nature be so consuming?”

Despite the track’s more simulated sensibilities, Hukkelberg – alongside co-producers Mai Elise Solberg and Kristoffer Bonsaksen – details a much more IRL–approach to production, which includes a selection of field recordings and samples spanning back as far as 2012.

“The owl-ish sound you hear at the beginning is from my son’s animal book (with speakers), which I sampled. There’s also an iPhone recording I made in 2012 of my feet wading through the snow, although I don’t remember where. The synth sound comes from a didgeridoo-esque instrument that I bought at a hippie camp outside Tel Aviv on a spontaneous trip when I was 18.” Not forgetting: “shitty handclaps”“mouth percussion” and an almighty door-slam that closes the track.

‘IRL’ is taken from Hanne Hukkelberg’s fifth studio album – OUT 2017 –which joins a nationally adored and internationally acclaimed back catalogue including ‘Featherbrain’ (2012), ‘Blood From A Stone’ (2009) and Norwegian Grammy Award-winning LP ‘Rykestrasse 68’ (2006). Spanning more than a decade, her career is celebrated by the likes of Pitchfork, BBC, KCRW, The Guardian, MOJO, Uncut, The Quietus, Drowned In Sound, The Line Of Best Fit and Clash.

Follow Hanne below to keep up to date on more information on her upcoming album.

Hamell on Trial Returns With TACKLE BOX Via New West On Aug 11

HAMELL ON TRIAL RETURNS WITH TACKLE BOX AUGUST 11, 2017 VIA NEW WEST RECORDS THE LINE OF BEST FIT PREMIERES “NOT ARETHA’S RESPECT (COPS)” VIDEO BONUS LIVE CD BIG MOUTH STRIKES AGAIN AVAILABLE WITH LP PURCHASE  Photo Credit: Kyle Cuneo "Bald, bold and superbad!" Rolling Stone Hamell on Trial, the musical alias of New York-based poet and folk punk hero Ed Hamell, returns with TACKLEBOX on August 11, 2017 via New West Records. A one-man explosion, Hamell on Trial is a dynamic performance informed by politics, passion, intelligence and the all-important sense of humor. TACKLE BOX is Hamell’s tenth record, second on New West, and was co-produced by the Grammy award winning producer Phil “The Butcher” Nicolo (Bob Dylan, Ms. Lauryn Hill). The 16-track set features the controversial song "NOT ARETHA'S RESPECT (COPS)," an autobiographical tale teaching his child how to not get shot by a police officer. The Line Of Best Fitpremiered the video for the “provocative new ode” yesterday, which can be seen  HERE . Of the track, Hamell offers, “‘COPS’ is a song about parenting. My son is 15, I'm teaching him how to drive. I'm explaining, because he has the ability at home to explain his side of the story to me, that he might not have that chance when he's in a situation with a police officer. Say ‘Yes sir, no sir’ and come home safe to me. The boss ain't always right, but he's always the boss. All four incidents in the song actually happened. I play all kinds of gigs, house concerts, theaters, diy punk rock rooms and the kids love this song. It even has a chorus they can sing along to and rally behind. Last year I was touring across the country with my son and the day after we played Dallas, some cops got shot. I wish no violence on anyone. I preface my introduction to this song live now by saying I just wish the good cops would call out the bad cops. This “Code of Blue” thing is helping no one. And if we don't think it's a race thing, well…” TACKLE BOX will be available at all streaming services and for purchase digitally, on compact disc, and in LP format. Purchase of theTACKLE BOX LP includes a bonus disc of Hamell’s live show titled BIG MOUTH STRIKES AGAIN. Preorder is available now  HERE . Armed with a battered 1937 Gibson acoustic guitar that he amplifies mightily and strums like a machine gun, a politically astute mind that can't stop moving, and a mouth that can be profane one minute and profound the next, with TACKLE BOX, Hamell sets his sights on the new America and issues personal and spiritual. The album features all instruments and sounds played by Hamell himself, with the exception of one. Hamell states, “The first voice you hear on the album is Donald Trump. It’s from a campaign rally where he was saying he'd like to punch a protester in the face. His supporters cheer. I thought I'd kickstart the album making people aware that, should they disagree with that attitude, should they find his actions deplorable, his lies, his vanity, his lack of grace and intellect, his pandering to the lowest common denominator, his inciting violence towards minorities and the disenfranchised, they could find safety here at a Hamell show, from a Hamell song. Let us remember that he did not win the popular vote, his supporters are in the minority and I will treat them with all the respect THEY show minorities. The first voice you hear on the album is Donald Trump. ALL other voices you hear on the album, in firm and resolute opposition, are mine.”  Once again we see Hamell uncompromising, fearless, obscene, insightful, absurd, angry & poignant and, in a first-time-ever ploy, including four children's songs...for balance. Hamell says, “I threw the four ‘FROGGY’ songs in there, trying my hand at children's songs if you will, to maybe make sense of what the American Dream is or maybe was. In the four songs, interspersed throughout the album, we see the character Froggy as a child, courting, running a business with his wife, and finally surrounded by his grandchildren. This is how he interprets success. I think in light of all the volatility in the country, I needed to remind myself of happier times or potential. And of course the listener, after so many confrontational topics, needs a little refuge.” Hamell’s caustic wit and devil-may-care attitude has long been a favorite of anti-establishment icons Aesop Rock, Kimya Dawson, Ani DiFranco and the critical elite inciting  Rolling Stone  magazine to call him "Bald, bold and superbad!" Henry Rollins says "Hamell is a one man rock show!" He has been described as "Bill Hicks, Hunter S. Thompson, and Joe Strummer all rolled into one" by Philadelphia Weekly and a "one man Tarantino flick: loud, vicious, luridly hilarious, gleefully and deeply offensive" by the Village Voice. His performances invoke thoughts of the great, rebellious satirists and social commentators of the past: Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks. There's no way around his obscenity but in that is a willingness to fight for the free thinkers of the world.  TACKLE BOX Track Listing:1. SAFE

Rhye Return With New Single & Music Video "Please", Unveil Second Track "Summer Days"

RHYE RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE & MUSIC VIDEO "PLEASE"
UNVEIL SECOND TRACK "SUMMER DAYS"July 7th, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA) - Today, Rhye make their return with a brand new single and music video entitled "Please." The single is available now on iTunesSpotify and Apple Music via Loma Vista Recordings, along with a second nostalgic new anthem, entitled "Summer Days."
Watch the video for "Please" HERE
This marks the group's first new music in four years and follows their 2013's critically exalted Woman.Merging a natural beat and muted piano, the track builds into a climactic lyrical plea that's both entrancing and explosive. Meanwhile, the clip brings the seductive side of Rhye to life in black-and-white via vivid visuals.
About the song, frontman Milosh comments, "Because we play live so much, we've built this show that's somewhat different from Woman. It's a little more psychedelic. I wanted to bring that to the second record. I really wanted to incorporate much more soulful and earthy colors. It had to be all live percussion and piano. The human intimacy had to come through the actual instrumentation on this record.  'Please' is the stepping stone to where we're headed."
Right now, Rhye is on the road performing at high-profile festivals around the globe. See the full itinerary below.
TOUR DATES:July 8 - Brugge, Belgium -  Cactus FestivalJuly 9 - Montreaux, Switzerland - Montreaux Jazz FestivalJuly 11 - Milan, Italy - Magnolia July 14 - Pori, Finland - Pori Jazz Festival July 15 - Salacgriva, Latvia - Positivus Festival July 26 -  Taipei City, Taiwan - Legacy NightclubJuly 28 - Niigata, Japan, -Fuji Rock FestivalJuly 30 - South Korea - Handside River Park

On the heels of her debut album  Electric Love  released June 30th on Concierge Records, bicoastal pop starlet Lily McQueen shares a new video for  Say Something today with BlackBook. Directed by Joe Nankin (The xx, M83, Purity Ring), the video pays homage to the early MTV years, depicting McQueen and her band hard at work in the studio. Just as the new album showcases her eclectic 80’s-tinged sound, the video features the same vintage elements. She comments:
“I love watching footage where you see bands behind the scenes. We were really inspired by Womack and Womack's music video for ‘Teardrops’ and The Band's ‘The Last Waltz.’ We wanted to make something that felt classic to match the tone of the song and also showcase my friends who have all played a role in helping me make this record.”
Exploring themes of heartache and longing, each song Electric Love exudes an electric fervor that can transport even the most jaded to wistful memories of first loves and summer nights. The effervescent yet grounded pop project traces McQueen’s ability to be vulnerable in the face of heartache and in doing so find her strength. Following her acclaimed 2015 debut EP, the album sees Lily McQueen emerge with her most artistically honest work to date. Fans in New York can catch her live on 7/9 at Baby’s All Right!
