HUNDRED WATERS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, SHARE "BLANKET ME"
HUNDRED WATERS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUMCOMMUNICATING ON SEPTEMBER 14 LISTEN TO NEW ALBUM SINGLE "BLANKET ME"https://youtu.be/usL_M7w1IEI
Hundred Waters by Jaqueline Verdugo LA-based trio Hundred Waters - comprised of vocalist Nicole Miglis, producer Trayer Tryon and drummer Zach Tetreault - have announced their long awaited new full length,
Communicating
, is set for a September 14 release via longtime label OWSLA. In conjunction with the announce the band has shared album single "Blanket Me,"a stirring piano-driven epic whose cathartic structure belies the leap in composition, performance, and confidence the band has undergone in the three years since 2014's critically lauded
The Moon Rang Like a Bell.
Communicating is a grand and ambitious album with an increased focus on songwriting that energizes more than ever before. At the same time it's more confidently experimental, unafraid to spike its pop hooks with noise, or build elaborate, fractal-like patterns out of Miglis's multitracked voice. The album follows the release of their recent
Currency EP
as well as organizing, curating, and performing at their fourth annual FORM Arcosanti festival. In the span between albums the band have traveled, separated, reunited, lost a band member, questioned relationships, and strove to understand what it means to be together. At the core of the album is the relationship between band members Nicole Miglis and Trayer Tryon, whose relationship catalyzed the band in 2012. The album raises questions of romantic and non-romantic love, self-realization, growing apart, and finding understanding. To keep it close, the band wrote and recorded at home (the trio maintain a shared living space). Nicole chose to cut herself off from the outside world and recorded vocals in her closet. Tray produced at the kitchen table or wherever he could make room. When things got too close they ought other environments (drums and piano were recorded in a converted Detroit church, for instance). Where Communicating ultimately succeeds is on the most personal, intimate level. It's a record about breakups, rebirths, searching for peace, getting lost, and discovering unexpected ways of being happy. "From a broad lens," Miglis says, "the album is a breakup. It starts with a need for independence and it ends with an 'all better,' like we did it: we learned, we loved, we separated, and now it's time for the next chapter." The band heads out on a US tour this Fall; three weeks of dates across the length of the country concluding with a performance at Miami's III Points Festival. At various points Hundred Waters will be supported by Lafawndah and Kelsey Lu - full details and tour dates below. DEBUT ALBUM HYMNS TO THE NIGHT OUT NOW
WATCH NEW LIVE SESSION ON VEVO DSVCR
Lea Porcelain reveal a thumping remix of album track, "Warsaw Street" by acclaimed UK DJ/producer and Hotflush Recordings owner, Scuba (Paul Rose). They say, "From when the 1st bass kicks in until the last synth fades out - we are proud to have our song 'WARSAW STREET' remixed by the one and only SCUBA! From England to Berlin - he is famous for playing the best dance floors with the most delicate dj-sets and is also a good friend of our place of origin – Frankfurt nightclub, The Robert Johnson."
The post-punk duo recently released debut full-length, HYMNS TO THE NIGHT, which was written and recorded over a two year period in Berlin's FUNKHAUS, a broadcasting house created under Soviet supervision that now houses the world's biggest recording studio. The spectrum of the album is extremely wide. HYMNS TO THE NIGHT bends genres, yet every song works together, playing with very different moods. Lea Porcelain describe their sound "atmospheric, cinematic and melancholic."

Lea Porcelain aim to make "universal" music; songs people can treasure in day, night, between different states of mind. They want to make music for "the entire world", and this partly stems from a globe-trotting past. No matter the genre, range of instruments or sound palette, their presence is unmistakable. Every song is tied together by the duo's ethos, their free approach towards making music. In the standout moments of their debut, everything spills outwards, drums cascading into the distance, a cross between self-destruction and complete euphoria.

IBEYI ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

The Twins Returns This Fall For 14 Dates | Listen To Their Latest Single “Away Away”
Today Ibeyi, the 22-year-old French-Cuban twins Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz, have announced a run of North American tour dates that will begin this fall. Praised for a mesmerizing live performance that combines a mixture of ancient and modern music, the North American portion of the global tour will start this October 28th in Miami running through November 19th with over fourteen dates across the continent (full list of dates below with tickets on-sale July 14). The announcement of the tour comes on the heels of the twins releasing their first piece of new music since 2015, a joyous track titled “Away Away” which Pitchfork reviewed calling it “raw, minimal, and mystical” and FADER hailed is, "a radiant pop song surrounded by Yoruba chants."
Since the release of Ibeyi’s critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut album in February 2015, the twins have been captivating audiences across the globe with their unique blend of modern pop, hip-hop and electronic influenced with the traditional sounds of Yorùbá. “It’s tough to tear your eyes from the live performance,” noted Noisey upon the first time seeing Ibeyi live. Meanwhile, KCRW explained, “there is a remarkable power to what they do,” in describing the unique live experience of Ibeyi and the OC Weekly raved of Ibeyi’s show saying it is, “an immersion; it was passionate, and pure and gripping in all the ways you never expect music to be anymore.”

Last month Ibeyi released the single “Away Away,” which pushes forward the unique, cross-cultural sound that the girls have become so widely recognized for. The duo, who split their time between Paris, Cuba and London are currently at work in the studio finishing up their sophomore album due out this fall. In a recent cover story for The FADER titled “Ibeyi’s Home” the twins traveled to Cuba to retrace their Afro-Cuban roots. The cover story touched on Ibeyi’s sophomore album, which sees the twins working again with producer/XL head Richard Russell and includes appearances from Kamasi Washington, Chilly Gonzales, La Mala Rodriguez and Meshell Ndegeocello. SIGUR RÓS RELEASE SHIRT IN SUPPORT OF MARRIAGE EQUALITY
SIGUR RÓS RELEASE SHIRT IN SUPPORT OF MARRIAGE EQUALITY Iceland's Sigur Rós return to Australia this July, performing at Splendour in The Grass festival in Byron Bay, and concerts at Sydney's Hordern Pavillion and Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena. Having being made aware of recent comments by former tennis player Margaret Court, the band decided to commission a special shirt celebrating positivity and inclusion, with proceeds going towards Australian Marriage Equality. The band approached London-based illustrator Andrew Rae to create a special crest. Says Andrew: "What an amazing commission, combining awareness about marriage equality with the amazing Sigur Rós in a hand drawn crest to raise money to support Australian Marriage Equality... of course I'm saying yes." "That anyone still has to raise awareness about marriage equality in this day and age seems bizarre to me. As long as some people still think they have the right to decide who other people fall in love with then there's still work to be done." Sigur Rós add: "We know Margaret Court's opinions are not shared by the majority of Australians. We want to add our voice to the call for marriage equality in Australia - right here on Margaret Court Arena itself. Australia should be a country that celebrates positivity and inclusion, as well as achievement on the sporting field." The shirt will be available at all the band's Australian performances including Splendour in The Grass. International customers will be able to buy the tee-shirt via sigur-ros.co.uk and bandtshirts.com.au.

Ariel Pink shares "Time To Live" from new album out September 15
ARIEL PINK RELEASES “TIME TO LIVE,”
FROM NEW ALBUM
DEDICATED TO BOBBY JAMESON,
OUT SEPTEMBER 15 ON MEXICAN SUMMERStream “Time To Live” Here North American Tour Begins October 13Video for Album’s First Single, “Another Weekend,” Out Now Pre-order Dedicated to Bobby Jameson Here
Ariel Pink will release his new album, Dedicated to Bobby Jameson, on September 15. The recording is his first solo album since his highly acclaimed 2014 prog-pop opus pom pom, and first full-length release with the Brooklyn-based independent label Mexican Summer. Today, he shares “Time To Live,” a potent pop anthem in the spirit of The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" that promotes survival as a form of resistance.
Pink recently announced a fall tour of North America (see dates below), in which he will perform songs from Dedicated to Bobby Jameson and the singular body of work he has created over the first two decades of his career, and released a video for “Another Weekend”directed by Grant Singer, the first single from the new album.
The new release’s title makes a direct and heartfelt reference to a real-life Los Angeles musician, long presumed dead, who resurfaced online in 2007 after 35 reclusive years to pen his autobiography and tragic life story in a series of blogs and YouTube tirades. “His book and life resonated with me to such a degree that I felt a need to dedicate my latest record to him,” Pink states.
Dedicated to Bobby Jameson begins at the end and ends at the beginning. “We follow the protagonist through a battery of tests and milestones, the first of which sees him reborn into life out of death,” Pink explains, referencing the opening track, “Time to Meet Your God.” “From there, he seesaws his way between the innocent love and the rock-solid edifice of childhood-worn trauma that together constitute his lifelong initiation into the realm of artifice and theatrical disposability.”
Ariel Pink’s previous solo release, pom pom, received a Best New Music designation fromPitchfork; The New York Times described it as “a delightful, typically schizophrenic collection: wickedly dark and funny one moment, sweet and sentimental the next, and at other times as gleefully unhinged as Pink has ever been.” SPIN noted that it’s a record “full of unforgettably kaleidoscopic melodies.” Pink has prolifically written, recorded and released his singular brand of pop music for well over two decades. Dedicated to Bobby Jameson sees Ariel Pink returning to the setting of his first recordings: his bedroom.
Raised in Beverly Hills, Ariel Pink started out as a visual artist before becoming a recording artist in the late ‘90s while attending Cal Arts. Though critically misunderstood at the time, Pink’s early, lo-fi recordings wielded an enormous influence with insiders and outsiders, including Animal Collective who signed him to their Paw Tracks imprint in 2003. In the late 2000s, Pink’s fortunes with critics began to reverse, and his resulting single, “Round and Round” (off Before Today), was named the #1 Record of 2010 by Pitchfork.

HEAR "BRING IT ON HOME TO ME"THE FIRST TRACK FROM THE NEW ALBUM HERE PRE-ORDER OF ALBUM AVAILABLE NOW
VAN MORRISON--one of British music's few true legends--is set to release a new 15-track album, due out September 22(Exile/Caroline).ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES--Van Morrison's 37th studio album--sees him simultaneously hand-picking a selection of rhythm and blues classics (by the likes of Bo Diddley, Mose Allison, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Lightnin' Hopkins, among others) and recording a set of new self-written songs. It's an album that features raw, intimate interpretations of some of the cornerstones of rock'n'roll alongside five new numbers by one of our most consistently brilliant recording artists. A pre-order of the album is available now.
Photo credit: Jill FurmanovskyROLL WITH THE PUNCHES was produced by VAN MORRISONand recorded with an incredible team of studio collaborators including Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame, Jeff Beck, Paul Jones and Jason Rebello."From a very early age, I connected with the blues," VAN says. "The thing about the blues is you don't dissect it--you just do it. I've never over-analysed what I do; I just do it. Music has to be about just doing it and that's the way the blues works--it's an attitude. I was lucky to have met people who were the real thing--people like John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Witherspoon, Bo Diddley, Little Walter & Mose Allison. I got to hang out with them and absorb what they did. They were people with no ego whatsoever and they helped me learn a lot.""The songs on ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES--whether I've written them or not--they're performance oriented," VAN adds. "Each song is like a story and I'm performing that story. That's been forgotten over years because people over-analyse things. I was a performer before I started writing songs and I've always felt like that's what I do."
The ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES track list is as follows:1) Roll With the Punches (Van Morrison & Don Black)2) Transformation (Van Morrison)3) I Can Tell (Bo Diddley & Samuel Bernard Smith)4) Stormy Monday/Lonely Avenue (Stormy Monday--T-Bone Walker/Lonely Avenue--Doc Pomus)5) Goin' To Chicago (Count Basie & Jimmy Rushing)6) Fame (Van Morrison)7) Too Much Trouble (Van Morrison)8) Bring It On Home To Me (Sam Cooke)9) Ordinary People (Van Morrison)10) How Far From God (Sister Rosetta Tharpe)11) Teardrops From My Eyes (Rudy Toombs)12) Automobile Blues (Lightnin' Hopkins)13) Benediction (Mose Allison)14) Mean Old World (Little Walter)15) Ride On Josephine (Bo Diddley)VAN MORRISON's U.S. and UK tour dates are as follows:DateVenueU.S. DATES:Sun Sept 10Hersheypark Stadium @ "Outlaw Music Festival"Thu Sept 14Ascend AmphitheaterFri Oct 13The Show At Agua Caliente Casino Resort SpaSat Oct 14The Show At Agua Caliente Casino Resort SpaFri Oct 20Fox Theater (Oakland, CA)Sat Oct 21Fox Theater (Oakland, CA)UK DATES:Mon Nov 6Edinburgh Playhouse Tues Nov 7 Glasgow Royal Court Sun Nov 12London Eventim Apollo Mon Nov 13Birmingham Symphony HallWed Nov 15Liverpool Philharmonic HallMon Nov 20Cardiff St. David's HallTues Nov 21Bristol Colston Hall Fri Nov 24Torquay Princess Theatre Sat Nov 25Plymouth Pavilions Mon Dec 4Belfast Europa HotelTues Dec 5Belfast Europa Hotel

“Out in the Storm signals the singer kicking on and setting herself up for a career which looks to be an extremely long and fruitful one.” — DIY Magazine “This is yet another reinvention for Crutchfield, but this is the first time she’s so palpably given off the sense that she’s at peace with her own thoughts: stronger and more candid for having figured out how to best take care of herself.” — The Line of Best Fit Reserve your Out in the Storm deluxe 2-LP + CD + postcards set in the Merge store , orpre-order the album digitally.
