Alvvays Release New Video For "In Undertow", To Be Joined By Jay Som & Nap Eyes On North American Tour
ALVVAYS RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR "IN UNDERTOW"
ANNOUNCE JAY SOM & NAP EYES AS SUPPORTS FOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
ANTISOCIALITES OUT SEPTEMBER 8TH ON POLYVINYL
Alvvays are back with a brand-new record due September 8th, and today they've released the video for the first single "In Undertow." Analog visual feedback and moon-man cameos fill the video singer Molly Rankin describes as "aquacosmic psych meets public access TV." Rankin says, "I'm aware of my own drowning fixation and fascinated by that bizarre lunar-tidal relationship. We've already filled our water video quota. Space is a trippier ocean."

"In Undertow" is the first new music from the band since the release of their much loved self-titled debut album in 2014. The song is an exciting glimpse into what fans can expect from their sophomore album. Alvvays will be touring extensively this fall and will be joined by Jam Som and Nap Eyes as their opening supports. All dates for this must-see lineup are listed below.
Antisocialites is out September 8th and can be pre-ordered here.
Praise for "In Undertow":
"...Alvvays never second-guess their core strength: anthemic, arm-swaying hooks that aim for the stars even when the sky is gray." Pitchfork
"The band has kept their rivers of reverb, which sometimes makes them sound as though they're playing to an empty middle-school gymnasium, an image that fittingly blends sweetness with melancholy." - Vulture
"The single echoes with a longing for finding solace after going through a breakup." - Paste
"...lead single "In Undertow" contains all of the elements that were initially so charming about the Toronto five-piece blown up to fuzzy and dreamy new heights." -Stereogum
"Expect more lovelorn sun-spotted jangly jams done in only the charming way the Toronto quartet know how." - My Old Kentucky Blog
"...a very nice dose of their melodic, emotional indie pop, complete with a shoegazy guitar solo." - Brooklyn Vegan

Biography:
Antisocialites - the much-anticipated follow-up to Alvvays' 2014 self-titled debut - is set for release on September 8th. Across its 10 tracks and 33 minutes the Toronto-based group dive back into the deep end of reckless romance and altered dates. Through thoughtful consideration in basement and abroad, Alvvays has renewed its Scot-pop vows with a powerful new collection of manic emotional collage. The album opens with the excellent strum-'n-thrummer 'In Undertow,' a hi-amp breakup fantasy that is both crushing and charming for its level-headedness. "You find a wave and try to hold on for as long as you can, you made a mistake you'd like to erase and I understand," sings Rankin, her voice full longing not for another person necessarily, but for what to do next. "Meditate, play solitaire, take up self-defense," Molly continues, laundry-listing some strategies for moving on. "What's next for you and me? I'll take suggestions," she deadpans under crashing waves of feedback and Farfisa. Replete with more songs about drinking ('Forget About Life,' 'Hey'), drugging ('Lollipop (Ode To Jim)'), and drowning ('Already Gone'), Antisocialites is a multipolar period piece fueled by isolation and loss. Perversely enjoyable dark drama springs from Rankin's phonetic twists, quick-sung rhymes and irreverent syllable-play. "So morose for me, seeing ghosts of me, writing oaths to me," the self-described introvert sings on the Cocteau-pop stunner 'Dreams Tonite,' the song from which the album's name is derived. "In fluorescent light, antisocialites watch a wilting flower." To write Antisocialites, Rankin traveled to Toronto Island - working in an abandoned classroom by day and sleeping a few feet from shore at night - to avoid a stifling heat wave in the city. "I carried a small PA on the ferry in a wheelbarrow," she recalls. "Every morning I would listen to my favorite records on the beach, then I'd write melodies and record demos in the classroom." After tracking with keyboardist Kerri MacLellan and bassist Brian Murphy at Kingsize in LA, Rankin and guitarist Alec O'Hanley continued recording and mixing in their Toronto basement. A few friends descended to play on the record, including Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake. Antisocialites details a world of ice cream truck jingles and radiophonic workshop noise, where Rankin's shining wit is refracted through crystalline counterpoint. 'Not My Baby' is a centerpiece, a meditation on the rapture of escape following the sadness of separation. Elsewhere, 'Plimsoll Punks' is the band's answer to Television Personalities' 'Part-Time Punks' and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend. Molly wrote the rapid-fire sugar stream 'Lollipop (Ode to Jim)' after singing 'Just Like Honey' with Jesus and Mary Chain. 'Your Type' is a beautiful primitive stomp about running around Paris with vomit on your feet post-Louvre ejection. The record concludes with a movement that is at once stark and celebratory. On 'Forget About Life,' the apartment stands in disarray as undrinkable wine is inhaled: "When the failures of the past multiply and you trivialize the things that keep your hand from mine, did you want to forget about life with me tonite?" The resonant freaks in Rankin's tales don't find much resolve, but with equal doses of black humor and heartstring-tugging, Antisocialites rings a truer tone.

The Selecter Announces New LP "Daylight" & Drops Single "Frontline" | US Tour w/ Rancid & Dropkick Murphys
The Selecter Hit the US in August for Headlining Dates and a Tour with Rancid & the Dropkick Murphys as Band Readies New Full-Length Studio album Daylight (Oct. 2017)
& Drops New Single “Frontline” 7.7.2017!
New York, NY – July 13, 2017 – The Selecter is excited to return to the US this August for a handful of headlining dates before joining Rancid and The Dropkick Murphys on a North American arena run including a performance at LA’s It’s Not Dead Festival with Buzzcocks, The Flatliners, Kevin Seconds and more. The US trek comes on the heels of several UK and European festivals and kicks off an extensive world tour for the legendary 2-tone band. As The Selecter gear up for the October 2017 release of a new full-length studio album – Daylight – they dropped the first single “Frontline” this past Friday – 7.7.2017. The song is about the internet – consumerism, social media and how we interact online in the modern world. “Frontline” asks the question: “Can we really reduce peoples’ lives to hashtags?” The track recently premiered on Steve Lamacq’s BBC6 Radio show Good Day, Bad Day and is the first single to be released from the forthcoming album.
The Selecter is led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black, alongside a hugely talented band of musicians, and co-fronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson. The anarchic passion that fuelled the band’s gigs during the 2-Tone era is still there, except the pair (Pauline & Gaps) are more driven than ever. Their confidence is sky-high and they’re also writing the best songs of their career, which is saying something given the enduring popularity of hits like “Three Minute Hero,” “Missing Words” and “On My Radio.” Just last year, the band celebrated the 35th anniversary of its seminal debut album Too Much Pressure by hitting the road in the US and UK to play the record front-to-back while spreading its message of activism for unity.
Following The Selecter’s US arena dates with Rancid and The Dropkick Murphys, the band will team up with influential British ska act The English Beat featuring Ranking Roger once again to give fans a rare treat, hitting the road together for a number of shows around the world. Originally a six-date tour, due to phenomenal demand they are playing nearly 40 dates together in 2017 including a night at London’s iconic Roundhouse in October which has already sold out in advance. The tour is now continuing into 2018 with tours of Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia. Life-long friends, they are two of the main bands to come out of 2-Tone – a crucial musical and cultural movement which is still as relevant today as it was over 30 years ago. The two bands played live from Maida Vale in December for Steve Lamacq's Christmas Ska Party on BBC Radio 6.
The Selecter is thrilled to be back in the US this August for a run of headline shows and a tour with Rancid and the Dropkick Murphys, which includes stops at the legendary Greek Theatre in Berkley andSculpture Park in Denver, and wraps with an appearance at It’s Not Dead Festival at the Glen Helen Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA. The band’s new album Daylight is due out October 2017, and you can hear the first single “Frontline” HERE. 'Three Futures' by TORRES

Released 29th September 2017 PRE-ORDER FROM 4AD STORE

On 29th September, 4AD will release Three Futures, the third full-length album by TORRES. TORRES is the creative alter-ego of Brooklyn-based Mackenzie Scott. In describing the album, Scott says it “is entirely about using the body that each of us has been given as a mechanism of joy”. The 10 original tracks on Three Futures embrace ecstasy, desire and indulgence rather than self-denial, and exude this idea via immersive music. Mechanized grooves are placed at the forefront, providing a framework for perforated electro-pop static, harsh gothic / industrial textures, and insistent Krautrock motifs.Pre-order the album on limited gold vinyl and CD via 4AD here.
Pre-order the album on all other platforms here. Digital pre-orders will receive instant downloads of 'Three Futures' and 'Skim'.You can find all details on the album, plus the newly released title track and international tour dates, here .

Wilsen Announces Fall Headlining Tour Behind Lp Debut 'I Go Missing In My Sleep'

Wilsen Announces Fall Headlining Tour Behind Lp Debut 'I Go Missing In My Sleep' (Out Now On Secret City Records)"Let Wilsen Whisk You Away Into A Dreamland" - Nylon
DEBUTS MUSIC VIDEO FOR "FINAL": http://vevo.ly/vzLX9v
Brooklyn trio Wilsen has announced a cross-country summer headlining tour, their first since the release of their full-length debut album ‘I Go Missing In My Sleep’ (Secret City Records). The full list of dates is below and additional shows will be announced soon. Tickets for all of the shows will be on sale by this Friday.
Wilsen has also debuted their music video for “Final” – watch it here:
http://vevo.ly/vzLX9v
“Final” is a cerebral folk song set to a pas de deux choreographed by dancer Yury Yanowsky, who is featured in the video along with Rachele Buriassi. Both have featured in the Boston Ballet. Yury was a principal dancer in the Boston Balletfor over two decades, is on faculty at Harvard, and comes from a long line of dancers (he is the son of Anatol Yanowsky and Carmen Robles from Lyon Opera Ballet, and brother of Royal Ballet Principal dancer Zenaida Yanowsky and Dutch National Ballet Soloist Nadia Yanowksy). A jittery camera captures the frantic, fast dance, juxtaposed with the slow, haunting song.
Wilsen, fronted by Tamsin Wilson, released their mesmerizing LP debut in April. Described as “a major revelation” by NPR Music and appointed “the finest folk debut of 2017” by Uproxx, the record captures the fleeting quiet of pre-dawn New York City, brought to life by Wilson’s hushed yet powerful vocals and the intimate instrumental work of bassist Drew Arndt and guitarist Johnny Simon.
Stream and download ‘I Go Missing In My Sleep’ on all major platforms here:http://smarturl.it/IGMIMS_ALL
Since the release of their debut LP, Wilsen has had a VEVO video premiere (for “Garden”), an exclusive album stream on Stereogum, praise from NPR, Vice Noisey, sessions with Nylon, WNYC Soundcheck, Echoes and more. “Garden” currently has over 3 million plays on Spotify. The trio burst onto the independent music scene in 2013 with the self-released double-EP ‘Sirens,’ and 2014’s EP ‘Magnolia.’ Tours with Daughter, Matthew E. White, San Fermin and shows with London Grammar soon followed.
Wilsen is coming off a set of shows in the US, Canada, and the UK, having shared the stage with musicians like Patrick Watson and Diane Birch.

"A major revelation." - NPR Music"Softly devastating.” - Stereogum "It manages to be both soothing and disquieting. At points it sounds like it’s running backwards. Sometimes like a memory tantalizingly out of reach.” – Noisey“[A] full-length rumination of quiet devastation.” – CBC“Slow, Spartan songs with finger-picked guitar, heart-beat drums and ghostly narratives... Lovely.” – MOJO“A twilight escape from the unrelenting rush of everyday living.” – Popmatters“Big and bright, Wilsen’s debut battles against the hardest of nights that turn into mornings, and comes out the other side feeling truly defiant.” – DIY“I Go Missing In My Sleep pays out higher dividends with repeated and closer listens… Wilsen has thrust their own marker in the sand with this debut and given themselves a wealth of directions in which to pivot toward for the future.” - The Line of Best Fit

Kedr Livanskiy unveils 'Ariadna' video. Debut album on 2MR coming Sept 8

Moscow's Kedr Livanskiy (real name Yana Kedrina) today shares the video for album title track "Ariadna". The video debuted with i-D who've described the song "a distorted summer soundtrack". Shot by Masha Demianova in the country of Georgia and based on the Greek myth of Ariadne, Kedr tells the story of the video's creation:
"I asked Masha, an old friend of mine, to work with me firstly because I wanted to get away from the usual image which my videos have added up to. This is what the song requires and indeed these changes happening to me are reflected in the music, so naturally I wanted to convey them through the video.
Masha works with mythical images and structures, blending them into the now in a way that doesn't look staged, and that's what I needed.
The crew who worked on this video was all female which is quite important in the context of the song.
I'm also very grateful to Olesya, who worked on style and approached it as a true artist. The clothing translates the character's condition delicately, linking it with natural imagery. I think we've managed to express the female archetype. Nature and beauty, divine and human, an odd combination which everyone actually has an innate experience of. It only has to be heard, this ancient, archaic knowledge of life. Accepting it at the levels of intuition and eternity, and at the same time endlessly rushing about in the labyrinths of worldly situations - one doesn't exclude the other."
To accompany the release of her debut album 'Ariadna', which is released on 2MR on September 8th, Kedr will also share a beautiful companion piece, a limited run of zines with images shot by Masha Demianova."Synthesizers help me maximally feel the present moment." Livanskiy was born into a shifting and critical time for Russia. The Soviet Union had exhausted and old values were anathematized because of reconstruction. A sense of displacement drove Kedr to find herself. She's escaped reality repeatedly in her explorations into the imagery and ideas of romanticism, mythical and fairytale themes which visibly bleed throughout her work and especially on her debut full-length 'Ariadna'.
Kedr considers this album to be divided into a couple of different parts - like how one person can contain many different moods. The first half revolves around mythological thoughts and the second takes cues from the urban and suburban environments around her, all the while in the middle of everything is the hero who experiences real feelings and emotions.
Kedr also channels the places in her neighborhood on the outskirts of Moscow (affectionately dubbed by her as "BORDER MOSCOW"). There's a river there where identical Soviet high-rises stand on both sides, with a bridge and garbage processing plant adjacent. Where nature and industry meet. The whole scene looks very apocalyptic, but also mystical and mysterious, especially at twilight.
Her inspiration for this record comes from the Izhevsk (sometimes referred to as "the capital of Russian electronic music") sound of the 80s, including groups like Stuk Bambuka V XI Chasov (Bamboo Crash at 11AM) and Samtsy Dronta. The movement in Russian experimental music is especially inspiring, with acts likes Valery Chkalov, Sergey Kuryokhin and Pop Mechanica; in general, the late-Soviet period was very inspiring with all its figures in music, cinema, their energy and their approach towards life and art.
'Ariadna' marks a change in her recording approach: her critically acclaimed breakthrough EP 'January Sun' was written and recorded completely in Ableton, while 'Ariadna' was written using the Roland SH-101, Roland Juno 106 and Korg Minilogue synthesizers, then mixed down in Ableton. According to Kedr, "This way, one gets into a flow of live interaction, here and now, with the instrument."
To her, this interaction is more "raw and sacred" than actually mixing the track down, which seems like "mere formalism" in comparison. There is a definite leap in production values this time around, but Kedr manages to keep true to her sound despite the greater polish and depth.
