"A stunning variety of tones and textures..nothing less than both cerebral and sublime" – American Songwriter, 4/5
“Dekker’s preoccupation with the Canadian state of mind flourishes in his lyrics. Few songwriters are able to convey the country’s harsh beauty as well. …Canadian folk tradition personified in the 21st century” – Exclaim!
"It floats from country to folk to indie rock and back again… a sharp-toothed but achingly beautiful portrait of the natural world and the human condition.” – New Noise Magazine

Today, Toronto-based indie folk band Great Lake Swimmers announce their latest album Caught Light due out October 10 and available to pre-save now. With the announcement, the group shares "Youth Not Wasted" out now with a matching visualizer and announces an extensive tour through Canada and the U.S. with support from Elliott BROOD, Rita Visser, Justin Wells and Abe Partridge on select dates. See all dates below and find tickets and more information via greatlakeswimmers.com/shows.
Led by founder Tony Dekker, holed up in the Canadian Ganaraska Forest, between Peterborough and Port Hope, with producer Darcy Yates (Bahamas) and engineer Jimmy Bowskill (Blue Rodeo), Great Lake Swimmers crafted their most realized work to date, tracked in just three days. Pulling from early ’70s folk/pop/rock like Gordon Lightfoot or Dory Previn, and ahead of recording, Dekker declared John Martyn’s 1971 album Bless the Weather required listening. Dekker adds the making of this record has given him, “a newly found zeal for not being precious and being more direct."
On the meaning behind the title and themes throughout, Dekker says, "Where I grew up in a rural part of Niagara Region, on a farm, in the back 40 there was a very small airstrip with a skydiving club. As kids, we’d see these guys jumping out of planes, five, six at a time. Once, one of them landed in the fields around our house. That was such a powerful image to me as a kid: What happens when you don’t land where you intended, when life blows you off course? The phrase “caught light” refers to an unexpected situation where you don't have as much as you thought you wanted or needed. Early on in the album process, it became apparent that would be the title track."
The band's latest wistful offering is "Youth Not Wasted," a twist on the famous Oscar Wilde quote, "youth is wasted on the young." It's a reflective, harmony-filled, acoustic tune that unfolds like a hazy memory. Dekker explains, "It suggests that every part of the adventure of youth does in fact matter, and constructs our identities in the present day. It considers the “caught light” of an old photograph, books left unread, and the points to which life’s energy ultimately pushes us. There is an element of taking stock and reflection on life lived to its fullest. It might also be a subtle homage to the early work of John Martyn, a key influence on the album, and particularly on this song."
"Youth Not Wasted" (Official Visualizer)
Earlier releases include "One More Dance Around The Sun" and "Wrong Wrong Wrong." Dekker says the sunny "One More Dance Around The Sun" evokes, "riding around in the summertime with the windows down — maybe after a solid workday, maybe on route to an epic road trip, or maybe just seeing familiar surroundings with renewed vision. It’s about perseverance, new beginnings, and the searching that invites wisdom and perspective as the planet spins on.”
The gentle and textured "Wrong Wrong Wrong" is, “about being on the edge, in deep despair,” shares Dekker. “The consolation is that it places trust in the understanding of the listener – it’s almost as if the song is speaking directly to a sympathetic friend." Its fragility is met with an uplifting energy and a glistening pedal steel solo.
Over 20 years in, with an extended network of past collaborators who float in and out, Great Lake Swimmers have arrived with a body of work that captures the band at their core. The group emerged from Southern Ontario in the early 2000s, known for their distinct warmth, resonant sound and lush, intimate live shows. Great Lake Swimmers have been shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and nominated twice for Canada’s Juno Awards, with the CBC calling them “a national treasure.” The band has received praise from a range of leading publications like TapeOp, Exclaim!, American Songwriter and more.
Great Lake Swimmers' ninth studio album Caught Light is due out October 10 and available for pre-save now. Don't miss the band live on tour this fall and winter across Canada and the U.S. and connect with via Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

THE SINCERELY, TOUR HITS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN TOMORROW FOR BACK-TO-BACK
SOLD OUT DATES - TICKETS HERE

GRAMMY®-winning global recording artist Kali Uchis releases highly anticipated single “Cry About It!” featuring Ravyn Lenae, the first taste of her upcoming Sincerely: P.S. deluxe album, due out September 26 via Capitol Records. Tonight, between dates on her blockbuster arena tour, Uchis will be joined by Lenae to perform the new record on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Stream “Cry About It!” HERE, pre-save Sincerely: P.S. HERE.
After selling out back-to-back nights at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum – and one more sold-out night later this month at The Intuit Dome – Uchis delighting her fans with surprise cameos from Peso Pluma, SZA, and Steve Lacey. Across this tour, Uchis has been bringing The Sincerely, Tour to massive venues across the U.S. Tomorrow she kicks off the first of two dates at Madison Square Garden. With every stop, she’s taken her fans on a multi-phase journey that starts with her recently released, deeply personal fifth album Sincerely, and travels back in time through each of her critically acclaimed albums. Uchis has been teasing “Cry about it" for some time, performing it live on tour while fans anxiously await the track’s official release.
“Cry About It!” gained a rapturous reception in L.A. from fans who’d already memorized the words via teaser clips on Kali’s socials. Over dreamy modern doo-wop and a hint of bossa nova, Uchis sings warmly, “Too bad, so sad, you should cry about it / Llora, llora, hasta que ya te deje de doler [Cry, cry, until it stops hurting] / Too bad, so sad, go cry about it.” Lenae’s vocal cuts through, adding complexity to a song that walks the line between vulnerable sympathy and biting sarcasm.
The bilingual single marks the first track on upcoming Sincerely: P.S. deluxe album, set for release later this month on September 26th. Written and executive-produced by Uchis — and arriving after her becoming a mother — Sincerely, is the Colombian-American star’s most intimate and vulnerable body of work to date. A testament to the curative power of deep love, and a stunning representation of the way Uchis romanticizes life and her inner world, the album hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and includes the singles “All I Can Say,” “Sunshine & Rain…,” and “ILYSMIH.” Rolling Stone called the set “a vulnerable meditation on motherhood and memory, adding, “It's all there, together: love and hurt, heaven and earth, birth and loss.” Uchis spoke on the LP’s inspiration with Billboard, Marie Claire, Los Angeles Times, and Zane Lowe, among others.
Apart from making headlines with her own music, Uchis recently teamed up with Mariah the Scientist for “Is It a Crime.” Currently, The Sincerely, Tour — with support from the 11-piece San Diego throwback soul outfit Thee Sacred Souls — continues to dominate. By popular demand, Uchis has added a third L.A.-area date to the end of the tour. See below for full list of remaining dates and go HERE for tickets and additional info.

ABOUT RAVYN LENAE:
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Ravyn Lenae has evolved from humble beginnings on the Southside of Chicago to the forefront of R&B and pop. Over the last decade, she has carefully crafted an incomparable sound by incorporating elements from house, synth-funk and more, with her signature style naturally evolving over the course of fan favorite EPs (Moon Shoes, Midnight Moonlight and Crush) and full-length albums Hypnos and Bird’s Eye.
Following a run of standout singles and collaborations with the likes of Monte Booker, KAYTRANADA and Steve Lacy, Lenae joined forces with GRAMMY Award winner Dahi (Kendrick Lamar, SZA) to executive produce her sophomore LP Bird’s Eye in 2024. The album is highlighted by Lenae’s breakthrough smash single “Love Me Not” (co-penned by Anderson .Paak) which has gone on to amass over 650 million global streams, a career debut and peak of #5 so far on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, top 10 placement across Top 40 and Rhythmic radio and standout performances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The BET Awards 2025, The TODAY Show and more. Bird’s Eye, which also features collaborations with Childish Gambino and Ty Dolla $ign, has been met by further critical praise from the likes of Billboard, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian and Pitchfork, the latter of which declared the collection to be “a genre-blending album that experiments within and beyond R&B—always guided by her expansive, cotton-candy soft soprano.”
A seasoned live performer, Lenae has toured on stages alongside Omar Apollo, SZA and more. After making her festival-debut performances at Coachella and Lollapalooza in 2025, this fall will see Lenae embark on her own sold-out North American headline run in tandem with support performances along Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour (including six nights at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena) and Renee Rapp’s Bite Me tour.

SUDAN ARCHIVES WILL "COME AND FIND YOU"
SUDAN ARCHIVES NEW SONG “COME AND FIND YOU” OUT NOW, WATCH THE VISUAL
NEW ALBUM THE BPM OUT ON STONES THROW
OCTOBER 17TH

Sudan Archives photo credit Yanran Xiong
In the lead-up to her third album THE BPM, Sudan Archives has just released “COME AND FIND YOU”, a heartfelt song about chasing a lover as she seeks connection and intimacy. Where earlier singles “DEAD”, “MY TYPE” and “MS. PAC MAN” were raucous, dance-centric party starters, “COME AND FIND YOU” sees Sudan Archives firmly in her Afropop bag, with soaring vocals and searing violin playing front and centre. The new track was produced by Ben Dickey and Sudan Archives, and features live drumming from Dutch mad scientist ZEP.
On THE BPM, Sudan Archives moves with style and grace through her most expressive, extroverted record yet. She adopted a new persona for the album, the technologically-enhanced Gadget Girl, to imagine a dazzling, chrome-plated future in which we’re all tapped into our own sense of rhythm. “No one can take away your rhythm from you – no one can take away your self-will,” she explains. The ideas she explores on the record all ultimately draw back to this one idea. “All those things can be your own power if you utilize them right.”
Sudan Archives executive produced the album, working with a close circle of friends, family, and trusted collaborators in Chicago, Detroit, and Los Angeles. The one exception to the friends-and-family rule was inviting Chicago-based Black chamber music collective D-Composed to put together a string quartet for the anthemic string parts.
“COME AND FIND YOU” was built around a loop made by one of Sudan Archives’ stylists, Umesi, which she then turned into a beat in real time. Later, another friend added drums; the resulting track is a sexy, effortless flirtation where Sudan uses her elastic vocals to convey steadfast confidence. This approach speaks to her fully realized self-determination on THE BPM: sometimes, being fully in tune with yourself means ceding space to others and knowing how to bring out the best in the people around you. As she directed and conducted the talented crew around her, Sudan Archives brought out the best in herself, a gadget girl who’s taken yet another monumental step forward with THE BPM – the kind of leap you can only make when you trust your instincts, trust the people around you, and lock into your own rhythm.
Sudan Archives plays select shows in the US before heading out on tour in the UK & Europe. See below for all dates and buy tickets here.

(September 10, 2025) - Following the announcement of their new album God Save The Gun due October 17th via Loma Vista Recordings, Militarie Gun share new single “Throw Me Away,” a melodic anthem which showcases vocalist and primary songwriter Ian Shelton’s distinct talent for mixing hyper energetic songwriting with heavy lyrical content in a way that hits that much harder. We hear Shelton on the precipice of downfall with “B A D I D E A” and with “Throw Me Away,” we dive with him into the valleys of self-doubt. Additionally, “Throw Me Away” arrives with a performance video directed by Shelton. God Save The Gun will also include the aforementioned single “B A D I D E A,” which arrived with a video directed by Shelton and aired on Apple Music’s New Music Daily Radio with Zane Lowe. To usher in the God Save The Gun era, Shelton sat with Rolling Stone to discuss the meaning behind the forthcoming album, how it came to be, and more. Read the piece HERE.
Speaking about the meaning behind the new single, Shelon shares, “‘Throw Me Away’ is about the feeling of only being valued when you’re visible or useful and the desperate need to hold onto that. What someone loves about you one day might be cited as a reason they hate you now. It’s the desire for external validation and also the deep resentment of it.”
[image error]Additionally, Militarie Gun announce their headline Europe and UK dates with support from White Reaper and Spite House today. The EU / UK tour will kick off January 21st in Porto, Portugal and wrap up February 17th in Dublin, Ireland. Following their string of West Coast headline shows with Death Lens and Milly this month, Militarie Gun will embark on The BAD IDEA Tour with support from Liquid Mike and Public Opinion to celebrate the release of God Save The Gun. The 21-date kicks off in Palm Springs, California on October 25th with stops in Louisville, Worcester, Baltimore, Richmond, New Orleans, Houston and more before wrapping up in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 22nd. Additionally, Militarie Gun are set to perform at Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois on September 19th. Full live dates below and tickets available HERE.
God Save The Gun is a very human document of being at your worst when you should be on top of the world – an absurdist guide to the intersection of self-destruction and self-belief. "I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album,” Shelton says. “But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it. Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.” Militarie Gun’s 2023 debut album, Life Under The Gun was centered around lifelong cycles of hurt, with the singer looking back at growing up with family members struggling with addiction, and while God Save The Gun is still tethered to that history, this time, he’s not the witness—he’s the protagonist. It wasn’t until the band was scheduled to enter the studio in early 2025 that Shelton realized he was the one who needed to hear God Save The Gun’s message.
Despite all of the inner turmoil leading to God Save The Gun, Shelton and his bandmates – guitarists William Acuña and Kevin Kiley, bassist Waylon Trim, and drummer David Stalsworth – more than rose to the challenge of following up Militarie Gun’s acclaimed debut. Stalsworth, Trim, and Kiley all joined during Life Under The Gun’s extensive touring cycle after a series of member shakeups that would hobble most bands, but only made Militarie Gun stronger.
Along with the honed in line up, God Save The Gun was created with a village of new and old collaborators. Shelton continued his creative relationship with songsmith Phillip Odom, co-wrote with longtime conspirator and frequent harmonizer James Goodson of Dazy, and newly tapped Nick Panella of MSPAINT, among others. Militarie Gun also worked with producer / engineer Riley MacIntyre (Adele, Arlo Parks, The Kills), who was chosen not only to make the songs sound huge, but also to access the sentiments behind them.
Miliatrie Gun’s debut album Life Under The Gun was one of 2023's most celebrated albums, released to praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME, Revolver, Stereogum, SPIN, Paste, The FADER, and more. Last year, Militarie Gun released the Life Under The Sun EP, which saw reimaginations of tracks from their debut album with assistance from friends and collaborators including Bully, Manchester Orchestra, and Mannequin Pussy. Militarie Gun also released the Life Under The Sun mini-documentary which sees the band and a host of their Life Under The Sun EP collaborators reunite at Manchester Orchestra’s Atlanta studio to further reimagine the tracks featured on their aforementioned EP, with guest performances from Manchester Orchestra, Marisa Dabice of Mannequin Pussy, and Christine Goodwyne of Pool Kids, who steps in for Alicia Bognanno of Bully for a performance of “Never Fucked Up Twice.” Also last year, Militarie Gun shared “Gun Under The Gun (MFG),” which was created for the new WWE 2K24 video game as the walk-in music for Post Malone’s wrestling character. Post Malone also included “Do It Faster” on his curated playlist for the WWE 2K24 soundtrack.

A FOURTH ALBUM FRAMING A CONFESSIONAL PORTRAIT OF FAMILY, MEMORY, AND THE SACRED MESS OF GROWING A LIFE TOGETHER

LISTEN: “WOMAN ON THE LINE” with JENN WASNER of FLOCK OF DIMES + “THE LIE”
Indie duo Haerts release “Wait for Us,” the third single from their upcoming album Laguna Road. Earlier, they’ve released “Woman on the Line” and “The Lie” alongside evocative videos directed by longtime collaborator Julian Klincewicz (Beyoncé, Virgil Abloh, Tame Impala, etc.) Don’t miss Haerts live on tour with Vlad Holiday in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Yucca Valley and San Diego in November.
The duo returned with the announcement of their fourth album Laguna Road, which will be released October 3rd. Thematically, the album frames a confessional portrait of family, memory, and the sacred mess of growing a family together. The duo, composed of Nini Fabi and Benny Gebert, wrote and recorded the album at home on Laguna Road, in the in-between spaces of everyday family life. They left the house in early 2025, having completed the album, to return to New York.
About “Wait for Us”, they say: “Wait for Us closes the album and it was the last song we wrote for it. We placed it at the end because, unlike the other songs that look back on our life and relationship, this one feels like it is moving forward.
For us, the song is about hope. It is the hope that when you give yourself completely to love and to life, you will find a way through. It is about giving more, when you think you have nothing left, staying even when you cannot remember why, and waiting because deep down you believe it is worth it.
In that way it tells the story of a couple drifting. The magic has faded. Words have run out. The strength to hold things together feels gone. What remains is the waiting, and the trust that love will return if it is meant to.”
“The Lie” is an ode to bandmates and life partners Nini Fabi and Benny Gebert’s youth — a memory of young love — its freedom, its weight, and its strange wisdom. “It’s about the dreams and the pain that brought us together,” says Fabi, “the same forces that at times tore us apart.” Klincewicz’s video strips the visual down to raw emotion.
Julian Klincewicz adds about his creative partnership with Haerts: "Working with Haerts has been my longest running music collaboration, and one that always reinvents itself naturally - whenever I hear a new song, whatever direction it pulls, I always feel something deeply personal that inspires something visual, and there's always a two way understanding between Nini & benny. Sometimes it's a simple as a portrait - slowed down to feel every nuance of emotion. Sometimes it's like pulling a thread. With this video - the song strikes some deep personal chord, and there's a nakedness - uncovering one's emotions, just like taking off make up in the mirror."
“Laguna Road is about looking back, a “piecing it together'” album. Sonically we moved away from what we had done on our previous records. We wanted this album to feel raw and vulnerable. The songs move slowly and we leaned into that with a light hand on production.” adds Benny Gebert.
They released the first piano ballad, “Woman On The Line” with Jenn Wasner of Flock of Dimes HERE. The quietly powerful, heart-on-the sleeve lyrics in “Woman On The Line”: So don’t you tell me to be happy. I’m just a woman on the line. And don’t you tell me not to lose it. How could this be the best of times…are accompanied by a heart-stirring composition.
In the coming months, more singles will be shared leading up to the full Laguna Road album release on October 3rd.
About Haerts:
Haerts is the creative union of singer/songwriter Nini Fabi and multi-instrumentalist/composer Ben Gebert - a duo born in Munich, Germany, and artistically reborn in New York City. Lifelong collaborators, Fabi and Gebert, began weaving songs together as teenagers under the name Nini&Ben, a prelude to what would later become Haerts.
After moving to Brooklyn, they signed with Neon Gold and Columbia Records, where their debut single “Wings” took flight in 2012, becoming an early blog-era anthem and receiving heavy rotation on KEXP and SiriusXM. Their first EP, Hemiplegia (2013), produced by St. Lucia’s Jean-Philip Grobler, further revealed their luminous sound. The track “All the Days” was featured in the 2013 film Carrie and was crowned “Song of the Summer” by Elle magazine - a testament to the duo’s cinematic sensibility and emotional pull.
Their self-titled debut album HAERTS (2014) followed to critical acclaim, establishing the band as masters of melancholy-drenched pop - intimate yet expansive, nostalgic yet timeless.
With a voice like a memory and music that echoes wide open spaces, HAERTS has toured across the U.S. and Europe, sharing stages with London Grammar, Rhye, Washed Out, Shout Out Louds, and Michelle Branch. They’ve performed at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Governors Ball, carving out a space for their ethereal anthems on the world’s biggest stages.
In 2016, they released POWER/LAND, a visual EP made in collaboration with artist Julian Klincewicz (Beyoncé, Virgil Abloh, Miu Miu), blending analog film and dream-pop textures into a multidisciplinary narrative. Their creative partnership continued with the evocative video for “For the Sky,” a song featuring Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear that was hailed for its haunting beauty.
Their second and third albums - New Compassion (2018, Arts & Crafts) and Dream Nation (2021) - delved deep into themes of personal evolution, longing, and spiritual endurance, reflecting the band’s ever-growing emotional landscape.
Haerts’ music has found a lasting home in pop culture, with placements in Good Grief, Moonshot, 13 Reasons Why, Love, Simon, Pretty Little Liars, Grey’s Anatomy, and Hightown. Their live performances have graced The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (CBS), Late Night with Seth Meyers (NBC), and further cemented their role in the modern indie canon.
In 2020, Gebert released his solo album, Triptych, via Arts & Crafts, a meditative and minimalist work that was nominated for a Libera Award. Two years later, the duo left the city and relocated to Pasadena, California. There, at a house on a quiet stretch of Laguna Road, a new chapter began. It’s from this place - sun-washed and soul-searching - Haerts’ fourth forthcoming album Laguna Road was born. Moving further away from the synth sounds of their earlier albums, the music on Laguna Road - centered around its confessional lyrics and warm, introspective vocals - is a fusion of minimal instrumentation and expansive string arrangements.

The New York Times
(Sept 10, 2025) - Today, Montreal-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Ouri announces her new album Daisy Cutter due Oct 24th. Alongside the announcement Ouri shares an early taste of all that’s to come with the title track of the record. Throughout Daisy Cutter, Ouri builds a world out of a radical experimentation with desire, discipline, and intimacy. What began as a practice of letting everything flow without judgment grew into a study of freedom’s contradictions: the pull between safety and risk, commitment and release, control and surrender.
The album’s title, Daisy Cutter, carries this duality. Borrowed from a bomb, devastating and absolute, it also evokes the delicate act of trimming a flower. Ouri keeps both in play, moving between sweeping force and precise gestures. Out of this tension arises music that feels both intimate and insurgent. Speaking about how the album came into being Ouri notes, “All these trusting miles in the dark led me to these 13 songs. Daisy Cutter is music but it’s also the leader of a militia, a part of me. Like a rotor, I started a practice that brought all this album to life and it’s gonna keep spinning even when I let go of the wheel.”
Ouri engineers, mixes, and masters everything herself, shaping tactile and often nocturnal sounds that shift just as they seem to settle. Across the album Ouri places herself within a community that feels at once real and imagined. Around her, friends and collaborators assemble as comrades, an underground militia intent on cultivating a future sound. Longtime allies including Mobilegirl, Oli XL, Bby Eco, Charlotte Day Wilson, Bamo Yendé, Cecil Believe, Duncan Hood, Jonah Yano, Sea Oleena and Cowboy Lansky join Ouri across the album, their contributions recorded in borrowed spaces, apartments, and other non-studio settings, exploring various ways of being in the world that allow for the contradictions of fortification and desire.
Daisy Cutter follows Ouri’s highly praised debut album Frame of a Fauna, which was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize, as well as her collaborative project Jour 1596 with Helena Deland as Hildegard, that The FADER described as, “A blessed union of avant-garde R&B saints.” Since the release of her debut album Ouri has toured across North America with celebrated artists including Yaeji, Tirzah, Charlotte Day Wilson and Smerz.

ASHES AND DIAMONDS (feat. members of Bauhaus, PiL and Sade) releases scorching new single "Setting Yourself Up For Love"

Link/Embed: https://youtu.be/bRlfti7GsgU?si=0VFnG2zGVziA5mwsSEPTEMBER 10, 2025 [New York, NY] – “I love the way this one builds and builds,” says guitarist/vocalist Daniel Ash of “Setting Yourself Up For Love,” the new scorching single from powerhouse trio Ashes And Diamonds. The follow-up to the critically-hailed initial track “On A Rocka” from their upcoming debut album ASHES AND DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (release date: October 31, 2025 via Cleopatra Records), “Setting Yourself Up For Love” eases up on the gas pedal at the onset, only to build up in momentum. “It occurred to us that we should put something out for the second single that was more in the way of a real song as opposed to a stomping groove that was ‘On A Rocka,’ showing that we are not a one trick pony. Haha!”
With the reverb set to eleven and drummer Bruce Smith maintaining a momentum-building beat and Paul Spencer Denham’s bass propelling the motion forward, Daniel’s vocals and thick guitars weave through the song like a motorcycle through traffic. “Bruce had this killa loop that I could listen to all day,” adds Paul. “It was fierce. It seemed to me the loop just needed something real low and gritty. I played F and hit the strings real hard and we put a ‘rat’ (it’s a foot pedal I like to use on it for extra growl). And I just stayed on that one note for the whole song! Keep it simple stupid!”
“This song started with an idea that I sent to Daniel,” explains Bruce. “It was just the synth part and the drums. He took it and wrote the song, only adding the chord changes at the end. What he came up with was not what I expected at all! The beauty of Daniel’s writing!”

The collective admiration that each of the three storied musicians have for each other’s talents is the glue that binds them together. Bringing the strength of past histories and giving It their all (Daniel – Bauhaus, Love And Rockets, Tones on Tail, Bruce – Public Image Ltd., The Pop Group, Paul – Sade, Sweetback), Ashes And Diamonds is the culmination of three different musical pinnacles, combining forces in a fascinating intersection of creativity.
“Ashes And Diamonds is the sound of three people being honest,” says Paul. “We’ve all been around the block a few times, and I hope some young kids hear this and wanna go smash down some walls, throw bricks and be inspired like we were when we were young!” Adds Bruce, “That’s what experience gives you,,, the ability to play only what the song needs.”
Ashes And Diamonds Are Forever marinated for a handful of years before being ready for release this Fall. With its beginnings pre-Covid when Paul’s wife Kim suggested to him and Daniel that Bruce would be a killer drummer, the three musicians wrote and collaborated in studio and remotely for years. Eventually, the three rejoined in-person to record the album in Los Angeles. Holed up for ten days with engineer Robert Adam Stevenson (Queens of the Stone Age, Jane’s Addiction, The Kills), they recorded and mixed 12 songs, banging it old school. What they ended up with is a chef-d'oeuvre, each song bubbling with potent anticipation and erupting with adrenaline, fortified by each band member’s notable histories. “This album has been in the making for about seven years,” says Daniel. “It should have been seven months tops but because of Covid and the three of us being perfectionists…” he trails off with a laugh.
The single “Setting Yourself Up For Love” is available through DSPs today HERE. The album Ashes And Diamond Are Forever will be released via Cleopatra Records on October 31, 2025 and can be preordered HERE. It was produced by Ashes And Diamonds with some co-production with James Salter and Joe Dexter. It was mixed, engineered with additional production by Robert Adam Stevenson.
