Behind The Gallery has announced that award-winning documentary photographer and close friend of Nine Inch Nails, Jonathan Rach, will debut his iconic  Self Destruct Tour  photography in the U.S. for the first time. The exhibition will take place at Morrison Hotel Gallery (116 Prince St., New York City) from February 20-23, 2025. Following successful exhibitions in Australia (March 2024), the UK (October 2024) and Japan (November 2024), this collection captures the raw intensity of Nine Inch Nails’ legendary 1994-96 global tour, marking the 30th anniversary of  The Downward Spiral.
In 1994, NIN had gone from underground disruptors to generational icons, delivering ferocious live shows that felt both chaotic and cathartic.  Photographer Jonathan Rach was there, capturing this unfiltered energy. Now, 30 years later, his collection arrives in New York for a special three-day exhibition at Morrison Hotel Gallery.

Nine Inch Nails… "Our friend Jonathan Rach’s photography exhibition is celebrating his iconic photos taken during NIN’s 1994-1995 Self Destruct tour."

Embedded in the Self Destruct Tour, Rach’s images preserve the visceral energy of a band at its most explosive era.  His images are not just snapshots—they are artifacts of a band at its most volatile, most groundbreaking, and most unforgettable.  “To be able to show this collection after so many years and see how fans connect with it has been such a rewarding and unexpected gift,” says Rach. “I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and discussing these captured moments in music history as part of the celebration.”
The exhibition features over 20 powerful images on display, from intimate behind-the-scenes moments to career-defining performances. The collection features renowned artists David Bowie, Lou Reed, and highlights from NIN’s historic six-night Hollywood Palladium run in 2018 that will also be available to purchase. Jonathan will host an artist talk, sharing deeper insights and behind-the-scenes stories on the collection.
Bringing this collection to New York is incredibly exciting,” says Behind The Gallery’s Creative Director, Stephen Dallimore. “The response from Australia, UK & Japan was phenomenal, and now the East Coast NIN community gets to experience it. It’ll be a special event for fans and collectors. This is not to be missed.”
“Morrison Hotel Gallery has always been about celebrating the intersection of music and photography,” says MHG CEO Adam Block. “Jonathan Rach’s work captures the raw intensity and artistry that define NIN, and we’re thrilled to bring this immersive experience to our flagship New York City location. Over three days, we’ll celebrate these powerful images through photography, music, and storytelling.”

In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all-time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. Eight more albums would follow before an indefinite break in 2013, only to be unearthed again in 2018 with AmeriKKKant, continuing to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. The 2021 album Moral Hygiene marked a new creative era of Jourgensen and the band. LUST FOR YOUTH + CROATIAN AMOR share new track "Kokiri" & announce European tour dates. 'All Worlds', out March 7 on Sacred Bones.

Today Lust For Youth and Croatian Amor share a second look at their forthcoming collaborative album  'All Worlds' , which is set for release on March 7th via Sacred Bones. Lust For Youth have also announced tour dates across Europe, including a UK run in March.

In June 2023, Lust For Youth and Croatian Amor shared the stage at the iconic Sydney Opera House during the Vivid Live Festival. This encounter reignited their creative partnership, laying the foundation for ‘All Worlds’.
Loke Rahbek, who used to be a member of Lust For Youth, left the group to focus on his solo project Croatian Amor and the Posh Isolation record label. His departure coincided with the release of Lust For Youth’s self-titled album in 2019. With ‘All Worlds’, Rahbek’s collaboration with Lust For Youth marks a poignant reunion for the band’s core creative forces, where the differing sonic palettes of the Lust For Youth and Croatian Amor projects meet again in the form of a full-length album.

Drawing inspiration from the Golden Record sent into space as humanity's message to the unknown, 'All Worlds' mirrors this longing for connection and understanding. Each track captures a fragment of emotion, culture, or memory, offering a kaleidoscopic view of the human experience.

Following the release of first single Dummy – a pivotal track borne of the creative spark set between the three in Australia - today they share a second look at the album with new track "Kokiri". Taking it's name from the forest in video game series The Legend of Zelda, "Kokiri" builds layers of luminous, earthy atmospherics and samples to an energised, heady, beat-based crescendo.

Along with the original version of the track, they also share an ethereal remix by Fatshaudi, commenting: "Rachel had made a cover/version of Armida, that she posted on her social media. We really liked her version and asked if she was into make something for All Worlds. She gave back this stripped down and beautiful version of Kokiri."

Lust For Youth have also confirmed new European tour dates, taking in the following shows:

March 11th @ La Station, Paris France
March 12th @ The Lexington, London UK
March 13th @ Lubber Fiend, Newcastle upon Tyne UK
March 14th @ The Flying Duck, Glasgow UK
March 26th @ Rust, Copenhagen Denmark
April 16th @ Hus 7, Stockholm Sweden
April 18th @ Plan B, Malmö Sweden
May 28th @ Rote Fabrik, Zürich Switzerland
May 30th @ Stream Festival, Linz Austria

The new album’s title ‘All Worlds’ reflects the idea of collecting fragments from disparate places, feelings, and stories. Each song unveils a unique “world,” contributing to overarching themes of exploration and introspection. These “worlds” represent the inner landscapes we carry, shaping our identities. The title also gestures toward connection—as if these worlds float through space, waiting to be discovered and understood. Ultimately, ‘All Worlds’ embodies the quest for belonging and meaning.

Through a sonic journey of isolation, resilience, and wonder, introspective lyrics intertwine with lush, evocative soundscapes. Retaining the dreamy atmospheres characteristic of both Lust For Youth and Croatian Amor, the album’s reverb-drenched production lends it an ethereal, nostalgic quality. While themes of melancholy and longing are central, energetic beats and uplifting arrangements introduce a bittersweet harmony that oscillates between vulnerability and euphoria.

The album marks a shift in tone, moving away from Lust For Youth’s synth-driven post-punk roots. Instead, ‘All Worlds’ embraces a dance-oriented aesthetic, weaving pulsating rhythms and techno-inspired motifs with layered vocal samples. The result is a textured soundscape—an exploration of emotional fragility through shimmering production and introspective melodies.

Celebrating twelve years since their 2013 ambient-industrial album ‘Pomegranate’, ‘All Worlds’ reflects the evolution of Lust For Youth and Croatian Amor. This album serves as both a response to their earlier work and a progression informed by a decade of growth and change. It deepens their exploration of sound and meaning, speaking directly to the present moment.

Like the Golden Record adrift in space, ‘All Worlds’ is a collection of moments waiting to connect with those who choose to listen.
“I'll be looking for you, every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again, we'll cling together so tight that nothing and no one'll ever tear us apart. Every atom of me and every atom of you…
...And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won't just be able to take one, they'll have to take two, one of you and one of me, we'll be joined so tight…” - Philip Pullman His Dark Materials / The Amber Spyglass (2000)
‘All Worlds’ is set for release on March 7th via Sacred Bones. Pre-order/pre-save here.

Alabaster DePlume's "Invincibility" out now

ALABASTER DEPLUME SHARES HEARTBREAKING  & SURREAL VIDEO FOR "INVINCIBILITY"

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

LATEST TRACK FROM A BLADE BECAUSE A BLADE IS WHOLE, NEW LP OUT MARCH 7 ON INTERNATIONAL ANTHEM

ON TOUR IN THE US, UK AND EU THIS SPRING

Today, Alabaster DePlume  the acclaimed London-based saxophonist, singer, songwriter, activist, orator, and poet-philosopher — shares "Invincibility," the latest single from A Blade Because A Blade Is Wholehis daring new album out March 7 on International Anthem.

On “Invincibility,” DePlume’s poetic harmonies and lush instrumentation echoes the playful and idiosyncratic 1960s British Folk scene. Propelled by Alabaster's lilting yet melancholic melody, the song is a reflection on emotional presence and the affirming power of letting one's self experience their feelings.

As Alabaster writes: "When I feel my feelings (instead of escaping them) I can discover that I survive them, and that I was not destroyed by them. I can experience this as a sense of invincibility. Where I find that I am able independently to live through what I feel, I am empowered and I generate my own agency."

Listen to "Invincibility" and pre-order / pre-save A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole here.

In the video for the track, filmmaker Niall Trask creates a surreal world in which DePlume is a family’s beloved dog who accidentally meets his maker.

Of the video, Niall Trask said: “Alabaster was one of the first people I met when I moved down to London; a collaboration has been a long time coming. He gave me total freedom to write on one of three tracks, and I returned his trust by choosing to euthanise him to the score of ‘Invincibility.’ On a personal level, there has been a fair share of tragedy in recent years, and finding the absurdity/humour in it all is always my go-to remedy. The treatment was ambitious, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped bring this to life (whilst putting a dog to sleep). I really tried my best to visually punctuate the sounds of a special soul!”

Watch the music video for "Invincibility" here

Throughout the eleven songs on A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole, DePlume’s reflections on healing, dignity, and struggle are communicated through a stirring assemblage of disparate musics: ghostly and ancient folk melodies, groove-anchored maelstroms of swirling folk-jazz, elegant string arrangements that strike a midpoint between Ravel and Gainsbourg (courtesy of Macie Stewart), disembodied voices reconfiguring into the shape of a post-modern Greek chorus, noir atmosphere, and allegoric, troubadouric song.

Throughout, Alabaster’s intimate, confessional croon (a la Donovan or Devendra Banhart) and vibrato-laced tenor saxophone playing (a la Getatchew Mekurya) convey, with a startling humanistic touch, everything from dejected fragility to resolute strength.

As with all of DePlume’s work, A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole is driven by intention. In this case, a desire to interrogate the concept of healing. As DePlume shared with music writer Liz Pelly, who wrote an essay to accompany the album as digital liner notes: “When I meet people who love my work I ask them, ‘what do people need?’ Many of them were answering ‘healing’, so I worked on that, first of all by healing myself. I found that it was an activity I could choose, and that it had a lot to do with my ownership of myself, dignity and independence. Instead of waiting for healing to ‘happen to me’ I could heal myself and own myself. That is what this album is.”

Read Liz Pelly’s essay on the album here.

This self-reflection and personal evaluation led DePlume to author his poetry book, Looking for my value: prologue to a blade. The seventy pages of verse (much of which were repurposed as lyrics throughout A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole) ponder the pursuit for strength of self within a community, alongside meditations on the paradox of the blade.

DePlume will be touring the United States, the UK, and Europe in support of A Blade Because A Blade Is Whole throughout the spring — see full dates below, more information here. US dates will feature multi-instrumentalist Shazad Ismaily (“one of music’s most coveted collaborators,” according to The New York Times) plus more musicians TBA, with saxophonist/composer Patrick Shiroishi doing supporting opening sets at every show. DePlume’s band for the UK/EU tour will feature percussionist Julian Sartorius, drummer Seb Rochford, bassist Ruth Goller, and Mikey Kenney on strings. More guests to be announced.

My Morning Jacket's Heavy, Propulsive New Single/Video Out Today; New Album Out March 21

MY MORNING JACKET SHARE

HEAVY, PROPULSIVE NEW SINGLE, "SQUID INK" - LISTEN

OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO STREAMING NOW - WATCH

US HEADLINE RUN GETS UNDERWAY APRIL 1

BRENDAN O’BRIEN-PRODUCED GROUNDBREAKING NEW ALBUM, is,

ARRIVES VIA ATO RECORDS ON FRIDAY, MARCH 21

PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW

My Morning Jacket shares their heavy and propulsive new single, "Squid Ink," today and it's available now at all streaming services. A psychedelic and visually arresting official music video for the dense and delightfully warped track powered by bassist Tom Blankenship and drummer Patrick Hallahan’s massively heavy grooves under a bit of shapeshifting vocal work from lead singer Jim James also premiers today and is streaming now on YouTube.

“The idea behind ‘Squid Ink’ is that certain people carry a negativity that fills the room like a squid shooting ink into the water,” says James, noting that the song arose from a basement jam with Hallahan. “It’s about trying to get out of those murky waters by believing in yourself, and when Patrick and I were jamming I got the idea to sing part of the chorus really low — almost like putting a beard on the face of the vocal.”

For more than 25 years, My Morning Jacket have achieved an incredibly rare feat in the world of rock ‘n’ roll – upholding a long-established cultural legacy while sustaining all the curiosity and creative hunger of their very earliest days. In a monumental step for the Louisville, KY-bred five-piece – vocalist/guitarist Jim James, bassist Tom Blankenship, guitarist Carl Broemel, drummer Patrick Hallahan, keyboardist Bo Koster – is once again expands the limits of their sound and elevates their artistry to unprecedented heights. The result is perhaps the most masterfully realized work yet from a band fully committed to their belief in music as a conduit for revelation of all kinds.

Largely recorded at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, is finds My Morning Jacket deviating from their typically self-produced approach by teaming up with multiple GRAMMY® Award-winner Brendan O’Brien, one of the most esteemed producers in rock music, known for his extensive work with Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam. For James – who has produced or co-produced all of the band’s studio albums since their 1999 debut The Tennessee Fire – the decision to work with O’Brien stemmed from a newfound willingness to open up their process and involve an outside creative force in shaping My Morning Jacket’s restlessly inventive yet nuanced form of psych-rock.

“Up until now I’ve never been able to let go and allow someone else to steer the ship,” James says. “It almost felt like an out-of-body experience to step back and give control over to someone who’s far more accomplished and made so many more records than us, but in the end, I was able to enjoy the process maybe more than I ever have before.”

Prior to joining O’Brien in the studio, My Morning Jacket got together for two highly exploratory writing and recording sessions, amassing over a hundred demos before settling upon the 10 eclectic tracks that eventually comprise the finished album. New songs such as the sprawling, album-opening epic, “Out In The Open” and the delightfully warped “Squid Ink” reveal a band whose voracious creative appetite is wholly matched by a deft command of their visionary musicality. When it came time to name the collection, My Morning Jacket chose a title that speaks to the infinitely unpredictable nature of music-making.

“I like how the word “is” indicates a sense of presence in the now – there’s no logic or rationale behind this record; it just is,” says James. “All these songs came into existence out of an attempt to connect with something beyond the human experiment, which for me is the whole purpose of music – that connection with something larger than us, yet something we are all equally a part of.”

is – which arrives as My Morning Jacket celebrates the 20th anniversary of their 2005’s landmark Z, a lavishly acclaimed collection named by Rolling Stone among “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” – represents another milestone in the band’s ever-evolving body of work, as well as an opportunity to breathe new energy into their historically stunning and hard-driving live performances. James points to the “undeniable force of loving” as the most essential factor in the band’s longevity and unending enchantment with the process of musical creation.

“One of the cool things about being around this long is that we’re not afraid to scrap something if we don’t absolutely love it,” he says. “It feels really great to have a collection of songs we all love this much, and to know that we worked as hard as we possibly could on them. Hopefully, those songs will be helpful to people and give them some kind of peace as they try to deal with the insanity of the world – because that’s what music does for me, and doing the same for others is always my greatest dream come true.”

Widely regarded among the greatest live acts in music today, My Morning Jacket will further celebrate is with an array of top-billed festival performances, including New Orleans, LA’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (May 4). The band is also currently set for the next edition of My Morning Jacket’s One Big Holiday, a three-night music vacation set for April 3-5 at Miramar Beach, FL’s Seascape Resort. In addition to three unique headline shows from My Morning Jacket, the event will see performances from an all-star lineup that includes Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Devon Gilfillian, Dinosaur Jr., Karina Rykman, S.G. Goodman, and Futurebirds, plus Late Night Campfire Sets by Tyler Ramsey, Maggie Halfman, and Bendigo Fletcher, as well as Late Night Silent Jam Performances by Karina Rykman, Eggy, and Illiterate Light. Tickets are on sale now exclusively at topeka.live/onebigholiday25.

Last month, Los Angeles duo Cash & Skye announced their debut full length album, Just A Stranger. The duo, comprised of Henri Cash and Sophia Skye, have been casually writing and recording songs together for almost 7 years. They put no pressure on a timeline or genre for their music, often creating songs together that they never knew would see the light of day.

Today, Cash & Skye unveil the next single from their album, "Pasadena Girls." "Being born and raised in Pasadena, I have a lot of love for my hometown," Sophia muses. "There are a lot of cultural cornerstones we are known for, like the formation of Van Halen or being the first place Michael Jackson ever moon walked. And yet, there are some things people don’t know about us quite yet."

Following their successful 7” “No More Candy” (Third Man Records) in 2021, this new album’s alluring infusion of Americana and Rock and Roll, executed with a punk-rock ethos, documents the band's 7 year musical journey. Some of the songs were recorded with just Henri and Sophia, and some were joined by the tight-knit musicians from Cash's prolific and beloved band, Starcrawler. This long-awaited chronicle of songs were recorded in spare moments over the years between international tours, college classes, and eight-hour shifts. It explores modern recording techniques combined with classic analog tape recording in an attempt to naturally capture the music in a way that stays true to the sounds of the classic records that influenced them. Although very different from the raucous chaos of Starcrawler, these songs dive deep into the traditions of country storytelling while still maintaining a raw and honest edge.

"Pasadena Girls" is out today on all DSPs. Cash & Skye's debut album, Just A Stranger, is due for release on February 21st.

Just A Stranger  is the debut, full-length album from Cash & Skye, a Los Angeles duo comprised of Henri Cash and Sophia Skye. Although this may be her first full-length album, Sophia Skye is no stranger to the music scene. A self-proclaimed “C-list nepo-baby,” Sophia spent her childhood on a tour bus alongside her father, Pierre de Reeder, the bassist for the seminal indie-rock band Rilo Kiley. Some of her first memories involved concerts and festivals, and she even has the scars to prove it; at four years old, she tripped in the thick mud at the Glastonbury music festival, slicing open her lip and leaving a permanent gash. Growing up surrounded by many music legends of the early 2000’s indie scene, including Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, and She & Him, it didn’t take Sophia long to find her own passion for singing and songwriting. She found her preferred style of singing in the records of artists such as Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt, women who were not afraid to belt their hearts out. Sophia was singing Willie Nelson songs at her school talent shows even if none of the other kids knew them, learning cowboy chords on guitar when she should’ve been doing her math homework. As a teenager, this love of classic country led Sophia to meeting the eccentric, trouble-making, and exceptionally talented Henri Cash, a fellow musician who played tuba in their school’s orchestra.

So yes, Sophia Skye and Henri Cash met in high school. The same school where Henri met singer Arrow de Wilde and formed what would become the beloved LA rock band Starcrawler. Starcrawler eventually took Henri away from high school in exchange for a busy touring schedule that spanned the globe, opening for such acts as Foo Fighters, Jack White, Beck, X, The Distillers, and many more.  Cash has also been sought out as a guest guitarist on many recordings, very notably on Dolly Parton’s version of Tom Petty’s “Southern Accents”, as well as live performances with Peter Case, Alejandro Escovedo, Peter Buck, and Lenny Kaye.  He was also cast as a young John Doe in X’s music video for "Alphabetland," the title track off their triumphant return record.

Cash & Skye started writing songs together soon after meeting, casually writing and recording songs that they never knew would see the light of day.  The fact that there was no timeline, no genre to be adherent to, and no pressure to finish anything led to a freeing and pure documentation of each moment in time. Time that spanned the almost 7 years that are represented in this record.

Some of the songs were recorded with just Henri and Sophia, and some were joined by the tight-knit musicians in the Starcrawler family. This long-awaited chronicle of songs were recorded at 64 Sound in Highland Park and Starcrawler’s basement studio in Pasadena, recorded in spare moments over the years between international tours, college classes, and eight-hour shifts. It explores modern recording techniques combined with classic analog tape recording in an attempt to naturally capture the music in a way that stays true to the sounds of the classic records that influenced them.CASH & SKYE LINKS
