Bob Mould unveils new single "Neanderthal"
BOB MOULD UNVEILS “NEANDERTHAL” – LISTEN
NEW SINGLE HERALDS FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN OVER FOUR YEARS,
HERE WE GO CRAZY
US HEADLINE TOUR BEGINS APRIL 1 IN SAN DIEGO
HERE WE GO CRAZY ARRIVES VIA GRANARY MUSIC/BMG RECORDS
ON FRIDAY, MARCH 7

Bob Mould has shared the latest single from his upcoming new album, “Neanderthal,” available everywhere now. Mould’s 15th solo album and first full-length studio album in more than four years, Here We Go Crazy arrives via Granary Music/BMG Records on Friday, March 7. Pre-orders are available now.
“In the early stages of writing this album, I envisioned ‘Neanderthal’ as the opening track,” says Mould. “I imagined a child raised in an unstable home, perpetually exposed to erratic and confrontational behavior. A fight or flight situation. ‘Neanderthal’ is a frantic sprint through darkened hallways littered with tension, conflict, and aggression. A claustrophobic maze of distorted mirrors. As the song nears the end, a pair of subconscious voices appear. The first voice is both soothing and unsettling, while the final voice is reactionary and violent. It’s a fight or flight song.”

Here We Go Crazy – which follows 2020’s critically acclaimed Blue Hearts – was heralded last month by the premiere of the lead single and title track, “Here We Go Crazy,” available everywhere now. Hailed by Stereogum as “vintage Bob Mould – a concise power-pop jam with a soaring melody and a whole lot of muscle,” the track was joined by an official music video directed by Gus Black (Phoebe Bridgers, Teddy Swims) and streaming now via YouTube.

Produced by Mould at Chicago, IL’s famed Electrical Audio in early 2024 and then finished and mixed at Oakland, CA’s Tiny Telephone with longtime engineer Beau Sorenson, Here We Go Crazy once again features backing by the crack rhythm section of drummer Jon Wurster and bassist Jason Narducy. Together the trio bring a bracing attack to eleven new Bob Mould songs.
“On the surface, this is a group of straightforward guitar pop songs. I’m refining my primary sound and style through simplicity, brevity, and clarity,” Mould says, “Under the hood, there’s a number of contrasting themes. Control and chaos, hypervigilance and helplessness, uncertainly and unconditional love.”
Mould and his band will mark the arrival of Here We Go Crazy with US headline dates getting underway April 1 at San Diego, CA’s Music Box and then traveling through mid-May. Highlights include stops at venues including Pioneertown, CA’s Pappy & Harriet’s (April 2), San Francisco, CA’s The Fillmore (April 5), Seattle, WA’s Neptune Theatre (April 7), St. Paul, MN’s Palace Theatre (April 19), Chicago, IL’s Metro (April 25-26), Boston, MA Paradise Rock Club (May 2), New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge (May 3), and Washington, DC’s Black Cat (May 7). TEEN MORTGAGE ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM + DROP SONG AND VIDEO
TEEN MORTGAGE ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM DEVIL ULTRASONIC DREAM
WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "BOX" NOW

DMV-by-way-of-the-U.K. punk duo Teen Mortgage have announced their debut album, Devil Ultrasonic Dream, out April 11 via Roadrunner Records. Produced by the band alongside longtime collaborator Kenny Eaton, the album’s first single, “BOX,” is a two-minute sprint of seething defiance, packed with hooks and unrelenting energy. The song arrives with an Adam Fuchs (Adult Swim, Flying Lotus, HEALTH, Skrillex) animated and directed video. Watch that here. The album’s title, Devil Ultrasonic Dream, leans into the 1980s-era satanic panic in rock and roll—especially as the country lurches further into Christian theocracy and censorship. “The Devil Ultrasonic Dream,” explains frontman James Guile, “is about realizing a fantasy that Christian fascists don’t understand or want you to have. The devil—Satan—has always been a symbol of counterculture.”
The band has announced a US tour in support of the album. Kicking off April 8th in Richmond, VA the 26 dates you will make stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, New York and many more before concluding May 17th in Baltimore. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday February 7th at 10am local time. Support on the tour will include Babe Haven, Spoon Benders and Upchuck on select dates.
Originally from England, Guile had been toying with the Teen Mortgage project under various monikers for years, crafting a sound steeped in sociopolitical commentary and built for the mosh pit, heavily influenced by classic ’80s punk. After relocating to Maryland five years ago, he connected with drummer (and former nurse) Edward Barakauskas via a Craigslist ad. Since then, the duo have spent years building Teen Mortgage’s presence in the DMV scene. In between a global pandemic and Barakauskas serving as an ER frontline worker, they managed to drop an EP and a string of singles before signing to Roadrunner Records in 2024. Teen Mortgage has earned support slots with a stacked list of artists, from Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, OFF!, and Alkaline Trio to Hotline TNT, Die Spitz, Wine Lips, and more.

“she’s green’s sound is a meticulous blend of soaring melodies.”
- COMPLEX
“As bands around the world are leaning into louder, dreamier ways to make rock records, she’s green are a shining example of how to be inspired, but still have something new to express.”
- THE CURRENT
“An extremely exciting band to watch”
- ATWOOD MAGAZINE
“Listening to she’s green feels like drifting down a glittering river in the sun, whilst simultaneously evoking feelings of sitting on a porch in the country as the dark sky cries.”
- THE MINNESOTA DAILY
Minneapolis band she’s green are excited to announce that they have officially signed to NYC’s Photo Finish Records. To celebrate, they’re sharing their first new music since their 2023 breakout EP, Wisteria. “Graze” arrives today with an official music video. A glistening and layered guitar track produced by Henry Stoehr of Slow Pulp, mixed by Sonny DiPerri (DIIV, My Bloody Valentine) and mastered by Alec Ness (Paris Texas, Lutalo), this wistful single is filled with lulling acoustic guitar that cascades into distorted oblivion.
“This song is about feeling trapped in a distant memory and longing to find a way out,” she’s green says about “Graze.” “The only way to escape seems to be facing it head-on and finally getting the release you need.”
“The first time I heard she's green's music, I was completely and utterly compelled,” says Photo Finish Director of A&R Shane Friedman. “I knew I had to see this band live, immediately. So on a sweltering June day, I flew to Minneapolis and piled into a hot, sweaty basement with 100 other local fans and watched them hypnotize the entire crowd. It was a show I'll never forget. As we got to talking, I knew this was a band who had a clear vision for not only what they want their music to sound like, but also the world they intend to build around it. They're imaginative, innovative and incredibly talented musicians. We could not be more excited to welcome them to the Photo Finish family and hit the ground running.”

Premiering on PAPER Magazine, today’s music video features vocalist Zofia Smith swirling around greenery and serenity until the song bursts into distorted chaos, with frenzied visuals to match. A world of flora and fauna swallows Smith whole, rippling water shimmers as sunlight peeks through the trees. “Graze” takes the listener out of reality, into the past and through to the present. The video was shot by guitarist Liam Armstrong and features production and additional filming from Eugene Langlois and Krystal Doung.
“Graze” is the band’s first offering since their 2023 debut EP, Wisteria, which received recognition from all corners of the internet amid the growing North American shoegaze renaissance. Songs like “Mandy” and “Syndulla” quickly became fan favorites for their otherworldly sound, thoughtful production and emotionally intense lyrics.

Peter Bjorn and John's Writer’s Block Tour Comes to Just Like Heaven in Pasadena on May 10th!

New York, NY – 5th Feburary 2025 – Acclaimed Swedish indie-pop band Peter Bjorn and John are bringing their iconic Writer’s Block album back to life on a highly anticipated U.S. tour in May 2025. This marks the band’s first stateside shows in six years and commemorates the 19th anniversary of their breakthrough LP, originally released in 2006. The announcement follows news of the band’s appearance at this year’s Just Live Heaven Festival in Pasadena, CA on May 10th where they’ll be playing alongside Vampire Weekend, Rilo Kiley, Bloc Party and TV on the Radio.
Writer’s Block is widely regarded as one of the most influential albums of the mid-2000s. The LP was one of Pitchfork’s “Best New Music” picks and had The Guardian calling it “A delight, from start to finish.” The album’s single “Young Folks,” featuring Victoria Bergsman, became an era-defining anthem, earning widespread and long-lasting acclaim. The song’s infectious whistling has been spotlighted in numerous cultural discussions and earlier this year The New York Times featured “Young Folks” in their “In Praise of Whistling in Pop Music” newsletter and playlist “The Amplifier.” In addition, the song was featured prominently in two of the period's biggest TV shows – Gossip Girl and How I Met Your Mother.
Furthermore, several album tracks caught the ear of some very well-known rappers. Kanye West rapped over “Young Folks” for his 2007 mixtape Can’t Tell Me Nothing, and in 2009 Drake sampled “Let’s Call It Off” on his track of the same name and Azealia Banks rapped over “The Chills,” retitling the track “The Chill$.”
This milestone tour offers fans a chance to relive Writer’s Block in its entirety, along with other beloved hits from Peter Bjorn and John’s extensive discography. The band’s innovative approach to songwriting and their knack for crafting timeless melodies have solidified their place as indie pop pioneers, and this tour promises to celebrate their enduring legacy. Anika Announces New Album, Abyss, Out April 4th On Sacred Bones Shares Lead Single/Video “Hearsay”
AnikaAnnounces New Album, Abyss ,
OutApril 4th On Sacred Bones
SharesLead Single/Video “ Hearsay ”

“Hearsay”video still (directed by Laura Martinova)
“Hendersoncuts an imposing figure on her tracks. Her sort-of detached deliveryhas invited many comparisons to Nico over the years, and there’scertainly still some of that on Change, but there are also many moments when her songs threaten to swallowher up and she fights back.” - Stereogum
Anika— the British-born,Berlin-based musicianAnnikaHenderson —announces her new album, Abyss, out April4th onSacredBones, and shares its lead single/video, “Hearsay.”Abysswas born out of the frustration, anger, and confusion Henderson feelsfrom existing in our contemporary world. Notably heavier than 2021’sChange,the 10-track album is raw, urgent, and fueled by strong emotions.Pulsing with a heavy guitar and rhythm section, Abysstakes Anika on a new sonic journey.
“There’sso much going on in the world, and you have to sit there and watch itthrough a screen
thatyou’ve allowed into your home, like a vampire who had been preyingat your door, then
immediatelydigest it, have an opinion, and publicly comment on it,” Anikasays. “The state of
theworld just feels like an abyss right now.” With this new album, shewants to create a place
wherepeople can feel safe to be themselves, and to unite in theirdiversity. “Abyssis like a call
toaction,” she says. “To come and figure it out together.”
Thethrashing, driving, lead single and album opener, “Hearsay,”hones in on the extreme divisions between the left and right incontemporary society. Anika sings: “And yesterday’s papers theyline my bird cage. / And you’re telling me tales to get your ownway. / And you’re making up stories to push your narrative./ Andyou’re making up tales to be provocative.” In Anika’s words,“This song is about media moguls – about the power of the media, whether social, tv or beyond – we are as much under its spell as weever were and some nasties are exploiting it for their own gains.Parasites feeding off the blood of the public — PJ Harvey inspiredfor sure.”
LauraMartinovawho directed the accompanying video says it’s “inspired byvampire aesthetics and seeks to connect with the grungy essence ofAbyss. We aimed to create a dark yet dynamic and surprising video. Mycollaboration with contemporary dancers and the use of raw cameramovement transcends this imagery, while Zeynep Schilling’s creativedirection elevates the video to another level—somewhere betweenevil and heaven. We worked with stylist Danny Muster and emergingdesigners to craft a timeless aesthetic."
Abysswas recorded live to tape at the legendary HansaStudiosin Berlin (where the likes of Depeche Mode and David Bowie alsorecorded) in just a few days. Recording live and with minimaloverdubs was an important decision, Anika stresses, in order tocapture the raw immediacy of the album. As before, she wrote thesongs herself before fleshing them out with MartinThulin(Exploded View),and then assembled a live band to join the pair in the studio –comprising of AndreaBelfion drums, TomasNochteffon bass (Mueran Humanos) and LawrenceGoodwin(The Pleasure Majenta) on guitar, with studio engineering done byNanniJohanssonand FridaClaeson Johansson.“Ialways work with people I respect and admire,” Anika says. “It’svery genuine in that way.”
Anikaconsciously sought to make an album that was inherently physical—one that would take the listener out of their head and back intotheir body. The physicality of Abyssis emphasized by the androgynous bodies on the album’s cover, thatare from a drawing by a teenage friend of Anika’s. This feelsespecially poignant, as teenage angst also plays a part in the album.“These days it feels like you have to have very catered opinions –like language has gone out the window,” Anika says. “It makes youfeel very much like a restricted child again.” With Abyss,Anikawas determined to break free from holding back genuine emotions –even if they might seem uncomfortable or too much:“It's like I’m doing all the things that I never allowed myselfto do,” she says. Anikahopes this pure emotion will position the listener to fully immersethemselves in the album. “There needs to be room for people to putthemselves in this album, and put their own narratives on it,” shesays. “This is a space for you.”

The Los Angeles fires have been devastating to the communities affected, and recovery efforts will take a vast amount of money as the city and its people rebuild. Good Music reached out to friends across the music industry and beyond to put together Good Music To Lift Up Los Angeles – a 90-track benefit compilation with 100% of net proceeds going back to impacted communities via California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the LA Food Bank. The album will be available for only 24 hours exclusively on Bandcamp this Friday, February 7th starting at 12am PT for $20.25. As part of their own fundraising effort, Bandcamp will additionally donate 100% of their share of the album’s sales to MusiCares to support those affected by the wildfires. Follow Good Music via Bandcamp for first access to the album: https://goodmusiccomp.bandcamp.com.
The genre-spanning compilation features previously unreleased recordings including never-before-heard new songs, covers, remixes, live versions, and unreleased demos. Artists contributing to the compilation include Dawes – whose members lost their homes in the Eaton Fire, The Postal Service + Death Cab for Cutie with their live cover of Depeche Mode's “Enjoy the Silence,” R.E.M., Faye Webster, The War on Drugs, MJ Lenderman, Madi Diaz, Modest Mouse, Neko Case, Mac DeMarco, Courtney Barnett, TV on the Radio, Soccer Mommy, Toro Y Moi, Perfume Genius, Blondshell, and many more.
“We only had a few weeks to put this compilation together and are absolutely humbled by the contributions,” notes Good Music co-founder and Brilliant Corners Artist Management partner Jordan Kurland. “Music is a healing force and we hope this collection of songs, in addition to raising much needed recovery funds, provides some solace.”
“There is a lot of work to be done to support and rebuild the Los Angeles communities devastated by the fires – fostering a sense of love and community with music is a great way to start,” notes Q Prime’s Eleni Psaltis. “Having worked with the Good Music team in the past, I knew we could team up again to quickly raise money for the impacted communities, so we called on artists from the LA community and beyond to donate tracks and put this compilation together.”
Good Music to Lift Up Los Angeles features cover art by Cleon Peterson, the incredibly talented Altadena, CA-based artist who lost his home and studio in Eaton Fire. The album was mastered by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering, and The Hawkins Project has assisted as a fiscal sponsor for this compilation, minimizing the costs of selling albums and of quickly delivering collected funds where they are needed. Patrick Wolf Shares New Track 'Dies Irae' From New Album 'Crying The Neck' Out April 25

Patrick Wolf To Release New Album Crying The Neck April 25New Single 'Dies Irae' Out Today UK And EUTour Dates Announced
February 4, 2025 - New York, NY: Patrick Wolf today announces the release of his long-awaited new album Crying The Neck out April 25 via APPORT/Virgin Music and available to pre-order here. The album features guest appearances from Zola Jesus, Serafina Steer, drummer Seb Rochford and Wolf’s sister Jo Apps. Wolf has also shared first single 'Dies Irae', an anthemic "affirmation of life" set in the days before the passing of his mother. Also announced are UK tour dates with North American dates in the works, to be announced soon.
'Dies Irae' comes from the Latin Requiem Mass and translates to “the day of wrath” or, as Wolf puts it, “the day of separation from the living”. He wanted to write a response to that idea, seeing it instead as a “an affirmation of life in the last days of knowing you are about to lose someone you love, and a courageous - almost rebellious - choice against the misery to use the time remaining to deepen your love or joy with each other.” He wrote it “to give myself another day I didn't have with my mother during her rapid descent in illness” and hopes that this might also help others who have been through the same process. The string arrangement at the end of the song is based on the Medieval Gregorian chant ‘Dies Irae’ from the Latin mass. The song, Wolf says, completed the narrative arc of the album, connecting the opening tracks with the “death suite” of pieces in tribute to his mother. “I finished the lyrics as an imaginary last conversation with my mother in her art studio and out to the garden as the evening falls,” he says. “My sister Jo Apps came in the last days of mixing to sing the backing vocals, and in a way, it meant that we could both share a last dance in the kitchen with our ma together.”

The aftermath of addiction, crisis, bankruptcy, recovery and survival shaped The Night Safari , Patrick Wolf’s 2023 return to music after ten years lost to creative impasse and personal upheaval. Now, with seventh studio album Crying The Neck , the 41-year-old has created a confident and hopeful record inspired by the transfiguring power of grief at the death of his mother, rehabilitation, local folklore and the East Kentish landscape. Crying The Neck , the first in a planned four album series, was written and recorded in the Kent coastal town of Ramsgate that Wolf now calls home. Here, he has a peaceful studio in the garden, the place in which he was able to find his voice again. In a period of rebuilding, Crying The Neck was entirely written, composed, produced and arranged by Wolf himself, with Brendan Cox brought in as co-producer and engineer in the last three years to help finish an album a decade in the making. In this quiet space, Wolf went back to the origins of his music making, taking inspiration from the techniques and tools he had at the time, and thus was able to move forward. He wanted to return to instruments including the viola, the Appalachian dulcimer, baritone ukulele, kantale, and the Atari he used to program as a teenager, with a spirit of “let's go really into all the things I've returned to with my hands and use the muscle memory to develop my craft.” Yet this is the first Patrick Wolf record that doesn’t travel back, or yearn for, a state of boyhood. Instead, he revisited some of his earliest unreleased material to recontextualize it for his present. Album opener ‘Reculver’ is a song that Wolf began to write when he was just 16. He’d always wanted to finish it, and when he started looking for houses in Kent and passing the Reculver towers on the way there and back to London, the song kept demanding to be relocated there. The beats on the fresh incarnation of the song, the start of Wolf’s new future, are the very ones he made back then. The Reculver towers were on a list of words, landmarks, people and local places that had to be on the album. This geographic specificity is an expression of Wolf’s gratitude to East Kent for being a place of nurturing as he returned to his craft, a reflection of, as he puts it, “the sense of immediate wonder and fluency that came back to my writing when I got here.” He spent hours researching local history, working to achieve a level of detail that you’d normally associate with researching a literary work, rather than an album. As well as Crying The Neck being fixed in the Kentish landscape, there’s a temporal specificity, related to folklore, that also involved deep research. The planned four album cycle will follow the seasons as set out by a pagan wheel of the year, bought in a Rochester print shop. Consulting the wheel, Wolf realized that the events that he was writing about all came within the Lúnasa and Mabon sections of the wheel – July, August and September, the time of fruitfulness and harvest. The passing of Wolf’s mother Imelda Apps from angiosarcoma cancer in 2018 happened then, just a week from her birthday, and shapes what he describes as a “death suite of songs” that are the core of the record, as well as providing the title. When Wolf first encountered the phrase “crying the neck”, he interpreted it as being “the primal cry that you make in grief”. It turned out that it was a harvest ritual chant uttered when the final neck of corn is cut, traditionally associated with the West Country, but also followed in East Kent. His mother’s passing around the time of the ritual provided the connection of harvest as a metaphor for death and started to appear more frequently in his writing.
Wolf wanted to ensure this wasn’t mere window dressing. “Exploration of folklore can just be listing the ritual, and it's very rare that people go deeper and ask, ‘well, what did it mean?’ he says. The hooden horse, referenced on ‘Better Or Worse’, is a ritual and performance in which a wooden hobby horse dies and returns with magical powers. “For me, this was a beautiful metaphor of grief and how somebody gets resurrected within your life, that they do actually come back with magic powers, they become a supernatural guide,” Wolf explains. As well as the grief at death, for Wolf the song also referred to his craft too. “It's grief for who you were, a period of death and coming back,” he says, “I don't know if it's supernatural powers, but I'm definitely stronger than I was before.”
Crying The Neck weaves these intensely personal songs with events Wolf saw around him in East Kent. He found it jarring that this place that “gave me a lot of sense of wonder and overwhelming beauty” was often discussed in terms of various crises – a border crisis, an economic crisis or a migrant crisis. Then an incident that inspired the completion of ‘Hymn Of The Haar’ came one morning at a favourite remote swimming and writing spot, where Wolf saw the body of a migrant drowned the night before. “It was harrowing, just me and this boy all morning, I had thought they were asleep in the sun for hours as I wrote” he recalls, “the next day, there was nothing, no mention in the press, the body was just taken away. It was like this ghost. I saw the arrival and disposal of his existence as being incredibly dehumanizing”. Yet to Patrick the negativity that surrounded national perceptions of East Kent wasn’t the whole picture, and he felt a duty to paint a more nuanced and positive portrait of the area that he had fallen in love with, highlighting the beauty found in its landscape, people and folklore. ‘The Last Of England’, named after the film Derek Jarman shot on the shingle of Dungeness is, while not a political song, “a national anthem that I wrote for myself – England is beautiful and rotten at the same time, and I am a part of it.”
The complexity of nationhood, personhood and grief that Crying The Neck embraces is summed up by the appearance on the album of a the recording of the writer Vita Sackville-West reading the line “faith, doubt, perplexity, grief, hope, despair”, from her poem ‘The Land’. “The quote is important because it’s acceptance and acknowledgement,” says Wolf. Crying The Neck finishes on the Foreland peninsula, looking out over the North Sea, reflecting on the transience of life, but also progress. “I wanted a song of experience at the end, a preparation for a shift into a more urgent mortality,” Patrick Wolf explains. “I do feel like I have a certain amount of time left, to do the work that I want to do, and a certain amount of time left to not do the work as well, and to live.”
Patrick Wolf is one of the most talented and idiosyncratic musicians of his generation, with a run of critically hailed albums, starting with Lycanthropy in 2003 to Lupercalia in 2011 which saw him incorporating everything from viola, celtic harp, dulcimer, baritone ukulele, piano, harpsichord, analog synthesizers and re-sampled field recordings in his music and collaborating with the likes of Marianne Faithfull, Tilda Swinton, Angelo Badalamenti and Patti Smith, among others. He most recently released The Night Safari EP two years ago was his first body of work in ten years and Crying The Neck is his first studio album in thirteen years. North American Tour dates to be announced soon.

Helmed by Black and Cherokee composer and multi-instrumentalist Takiaya Reed, Divide and Dissolve has announced her new album, Insatiable, due out April 18 via Bella Union. Already legends on the international doom metal scene, the new album is an evolution of sound and intricacy. Over the 10 tracks, it runs the gamut of doom metal, building upon the genre’s trademark sludgy guitars and thundering drums with Takaiya’s deft and wondrous saxophone. Today Divide and Dissolve share lead single “Provenance”, a powerful and dynamic composition that evokes the spirit of hope and possibility, arriving alongside an official video directed by Chichi Castillo. Takiaya shares, “Provenance is an examination of where things begin and how they can end.”

The album title Insatiable, came to Takiaya in a dream. She had a vision of a better world, one that gelled seamlessly with the optimism of her take on heavy music: “I saw and have felt the impact of people committing great acts of harm, causing pain in a never ending cycle. I have also seen and felt the strength and power of people committing great acts of love,” she says. For Takiaya, this is what it means to be “insatiable”; it’s the way we choose either a path of destruction or one of compassion, and experience it to its fullest. “It’s an album about love, and it feels important to experience this, now more than ever.”
Divide and Dissolve's music is an acknowledgement of the dispossession that occurs due to colonial violence, it honours ancestors, opposes white supremacy and calls for indigenous sovereignty. Strapped with thunderstorms of crashing cymbals, crunchy feedback, stomach-churning riffs and neo-classical inflections, the new collection delves into the idea of freedom through impermanence and destruction vs compassion, an urgent call to imagine a better world before it’s too late. Listen to it, digest it, and become insatiable.
