DAIISTAR announces Spring North American tour dates

Including headlining shows and dates supporting L.A. Witch

“Fuzzy guitars, energized indie-pop rhythms, and vocals that bring shoegaze to the synthesizer” -KCRW

"Ripples out with psychedelic fuzz and sheer power, and it’s downright hypnotic." -Consequence

“Blends hook-laden psych sounds from across the decades to joyous results.” -Louder Than War

“A consistently solid set of psych, shoegaze, noise-pop, dream-pop, and garage rock.” -KEXP

Today DAIISTAR has announced a full Spring tour of North America, including a handful of headline shows and a run of dates supporting L.A. Witch, who just announced their first new album in five years.

DAIISTAR is a noise-pop / shoegaze band formed in Austin, Texas in the spring of 2020. The band takes their inspiration from the neo-psychedelic era of the 80s and 90s (The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3, early Primal Scream) and pulls it into the future with modulating synthesizers, heavy guitars, bouncing bass lines, and spiraling hooks, creating a narcotic blend of noise and melody. DAIISTAR released their first studio album Good Time (Fuzz Club) in 2023, produced by Alex Maas of The Black Angels and engineered by James Petralli of White Denim. In 2024 the band released the follow-up single "Clear" as well as remixes from Sonic Boom and Immersion. More music is on the way later in 2025.

DAIISTAR is:

Alex Capistran (he/him) - Guitar/Vocals
Nick Cornetti (he/him) - Drums
Misti Hamrick (she/her) - Bass
Derek Strahan (he/him) - Keys

Toro y Moi features Kenny Beats on new single + on tour with Panda Bear now

TORO Y MOI RELEASES NEW SINGLE "DARIA" WITH KENNY BEATS

IN MIDST OF NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH PANDA BEAR

HOLE ERTH OUT NOW VIA DEAD OCEANS

Toro y Moi by Jason Chung

What the press is saying about Hole Earth:

“With Hole Erth, Toro y Moi broke free”

Rolling Stone

“[Hole Erth] lays the foundation for the future of the musical zeitgeist—a genre-fluid, multigenerational landscape.

Paste Magazine

“Toro y Moi’s inimitable style shines through.”

Consequence

“Erth is a record that blends ingenuity and honesty in a stellar and imaginative way—looking back, but never getting warped by nostalgia.”

FLOOD Magazine

“‘Hole Erth’ [continues to] to expand his already extensive scope, existing in the interim of a multitude of sounds and styles, and ignoring any rules or constraints”

“Daria" feat. Kenny Beats

https://ToroyMoi.lnk.to/Daria

(February 12th, 2025) - In the midst of his North American tour with Panda Bear, Toro y Moi shares his new single “Daria” featuring Kenny Beats. Originally featured on the Japan-only physical edition of his most recent Hole Erth, the song that was born from that album’s sessions and marks the first official collaboration between Toro y Moi and Kenny Beats following Toro y Moi’s appearance on Beats’ freestyle show The Cave in 2022.

Speaking on the new single Chaz shares, “Last summer we made some beats with Kenny. Hope you like :)”. Available on all streaming services globally for the first time now, the song is a natural complement to the world Chaz Bear constructed across Hole Erth. Alongside this latest offering, Chaz announces the release of a physical edition of the fan-favorite album Soul Trash on February 28th. Available now for pre-order, this serves as the first pressing on vinyl since its release in 2019. All purchases can be made here.

The album is Chaz Bear’s eighth full-length studio record as Toro y Moi and is the genre shapeshifter’s most unexpected and bold move to date, with Bear diving headlong into rap-rock, Soundcloud rap and Y2K emo. The album blitzes anthemic pop-punk next to autotuned, melancholic rap – two genres that inform one another now more than ever before — and packs in the most features ever on a Toro y Moi album with contributions from Kevin Abstract, Benjamin Gibbard, Don Toliver, Porches, Kenny Mason and more.

Recorded in the span of a few months across late 2023 and early 2024, Hole Erth’s features built naturally over that short span, with Bear simply reaching out to long-time friends. The sum of Hole Erth’s parts is massive, and demonstrates Bear’s deft abilities as a producer, especially in hip-hop; his role in the culture has long been solidified from previous collaborations with some of rap's biggest trailblazers. It’s a daring left turn for Bear, but the feel is effortless, the make-it-look-easy of a master at work. All told, Bear pushes himself into new sonic ground for the TyM oeuvre while embracing the project’s celebrated, well-known electronic beginnings. Hole Erth is brand new, but somehow perfectly at home.

Earlier this month, the artist launched his 2025 headline tour of North America with special guest Panda Bear. The tour will find Toro y Moi bringing the world of Hole Erth across the continent after playing marquee shows at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery, New York's Knockdown Center and Berkeley’s The Greek Theatre -- Toro y Moi's biggest hometown headline show to date – this past fall. Across the tour, Toro y Moi and Panda Bear will be joined by Nourished By Time and Kassie Krut as support.

Listen to “Daria” and Hole Erth above now and stay tuned for more from Toro y Moi coming soon.

Internationally Acclaimed Filmmaker & Musician, Sally Potter Announces 'ANATOMY' LP out 5/2 via Bella Union | "Coming Home" Single

Sally Potter

Internationally Acclaimed Filmmaker & Musician

Announces New Album,  ANATOMY

due out May 2 via Bella Union

ANATOMY  pre-order

Unveils Preview Single “ Coming Home

Available across platforms  here

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Sally Potter today announces the release of her new album ANATOMY due out May 2 via Bella Union and available to pre-order here. To accompany the announcement Sally has shared “Coming Home”, a track that weaves a story of grief and desolation around an arpeggiated piano melody and an upright bass groove punctuated with skittering drums, as Sally tells the story of the relationship between a lonely person and a beloved tree in emotional detail.

Listen / Share: “Coming Home”

“I wrote ‘Coming Home’ as a song of loss about an ancient tree that has been cut down to make way for a trainline,” explains Sally. “I found myself contemplating trees and the profound interdependent relationship we have with them, personally and globally. I wanted to evoke the relentless sound of an approaching train with rolling drums and a wailing guitar, to express a state of furious mourning for destroyed forests – ‘the ones that breathe for you and me’. But ‘Coming Home’ is also a song of private grief for loved ones cut down before their time, whether human or of any species.”

Sally Potter has been exploring themes of human connectedness, morality, and mortality in a career that has spanned four decades, encompassing works as varied as the speculative historical epic Orlando and the acerbically witty comedy-drama The Party. In addition to her film work, Sally is a musician and singer-songwriter, a parallel vocation that began with improvised performances and concerts in the 1970s and 1980s and continued through composing music for the soundtracks of many of her critically lauded films. Her second album, ANATOMY is an entirely new affair for the multi-disciplinary artist—an eclectic and boldly visionary collection of songs that seek to tackle our species’ symbiotic relationship with the Earth, all while reflecting on the emotional threads that intertwine us all as people who share this planet.

The album contains shimmers of Billie Holiday’s empathy and wisdom, Patti Smith’s poetry and Laurie Anderson’s meticulous euphoria: all artists that have inspired Sally’s music in one way or another. After working with the Roma band Taraf de Haidouks and the legendary string ensemble the Kronos Quartet on her film The Man Who Cried, Sally was taken by both groups’ approaches to music, which have also found their way onto ANATOMY.

ANATOMY leaves us not with a sense of impending doom, but a reinvigorated mandate to search for answers within ourselves. “I don’t think there is, at the moment, a more urgent theme to tackle, poetically or lyrically, than the fate of the earth itself for future generations,” says Sally. But these songs are not about making people feel guilty, or afraid—but rather, calling us to wake up to where we are, look each other in the eye, grieve together for what's already lost and somehow find the ground on which we can start to be hopeful.”

The Sick Man Of Europe Announces Debut EP on The Leaf Label

The Sick Man OF Europe - Moderate Air Quality EP

After months of furious back-channelling and a deal inked under the cover of darkness, we’re delighted to welcome The Sick Man Of Europe to The Leaf Label.

The debut Moderate Air Quality EP is released today on digital platforms and is available to pre-order on a limited run of cassettes. 100 copies will be available in a handful of shops and via Bandcamp. These will be shipping in about a week.

Emerging from London’s underground music scene, The Sick Man Of Europe is distinctly monochrome in its outlook. Each note counts in this climate – economical but played with absolute precision and conviction. Propelled forward by machines and seeking solace in repetition. There are echoes of the post-punk and European art rock pioneers at the cusp of the 80s, but re-tooled for the present. The same fears. Looking for answers or something to believe in, but finding more questions in an age of absolutes.

COCOROSIE RELEASE “YESTERDAY” TAKEN FROM UPCOMING ALBUM LITTLE DEATH WISHES (3.28 VIA JOYFUL NOISE) + NEW YORK CELEBRATION ON 3.28

COCOROSIE RELEASE “YESTERDAY” HERE
TAKEN FROM UPCOMING ALBUM
LITTLE DEATH WISHES
FOR MARCH 28 VIA JOYFUL NOISE HERE

ALBUM FT. CHANCE THE RAPPER

LIVE IN NEW YORK 3.28:
COCOROSIE’S JUBILATION BALL: A TITS OUT ECSTATIC RAVE CELEBRATION @ ROLLER SKATING RINK XANADU - TICKETS HERE

CocoRosie: (L) Sierra Casady (R) Bianca Casady - photo credit - Ginger Dunnill

Today CocoRosie, the sister duo of Bianca and Sierra Casady share the third track, “Yesterday,” from their upcoming eighth studio album Little Death Wishes (out March 28th on Joyful Noise). The album includes the track “Girl In Town” with Chance the Rapper. In advance of their European tour, they will celebrate their album release with an event aptly titled: CocoRosie's Jubilation Ball: A Tits Out Ecstatic Rave Celebration at Brooklyn’s rollerskating rink Xanadu here.

Last month CocoRosie announced Little Death Wishes with the existentialist and meaning-seeking song "Cut Stitch Scar." Written while Bianca was gripped in heartbreak, the song mirrors the false starts of grief as it barrels between sparsity and density. “Take a leap of faith," Bianca sings with her trademark quaver “there may not be a plan for you.” About the single, the Casadys tells us: “Cut Stitch Scar” touches the very core of our universal waywardness and the precarious and precious nature of being human.”

They add: “Yesterday is a nostalgic sunshine scene of the crude reality of broken families. We hear it as backyard-BBQ music, setting a place for every misfit family member at the table."

Late last year, CocoRosie started the next chapter with the single and video “Least I Have You,” an ecstatic ode to sisterhood and the purest distillation of CocoRosie’s 20-year-long career to date, alongside the announcement that they would be joining Joyful Noise Recordings (Deerhoof, ONEIDA, Kishi Bashi, WHY?, etc).

About Little Death Wishes:
For just over twenty years, Bianca and Sierra Casady have transmuted the love, hardship, and ecstasy of sisterhood into some of the most daring, dangerous, and wildly original music our increasingly sanitized culture has known. CocoRosie has been a project consistently at the musical vanguard, influencing countless musicians while inspiring and creating refuge for the “criminal queers” of the world. Above all, CocoRosie has been a conduit for irrepressible artistic self-realization.

Little Death Wishes is as open and tenderhearted as anything they’ve ever created. The songs tell a kaleidoscopic story of the generational hardship of women and the shattered realities of their lives, the precarious and precious nature of being human, of being done wrong by love, and a final wish to be unbroken. It boils everything CocoRosie down to its most brutal essence: turning pain into knowledge, sisterhood into polemic, trash into treasure, and recalcifying kitsch and cliché into fresh truths.

The duo’s 8th long player exists in its own musical lexicon. It is both primordial and tawdry, a rich bricolage of dusted-over pop culture signifiers that the sisters contort into their own sense of temporality. Contributing to the avant garde, yet unbeholden to contemporary trends, CocoRosie collects musical detritus from other times, which they fashion into their own baroque, theatricalized creations. With the sisters’ hands deep in every layer of their music, each song on Little Death Wishes feels transportative and transformative.

“CocoRosie has been the center of our lives for such a long time now,” says Bianca. In those years, the sisters have been infantilized and revered, fetishized and mirrored, misogynized and adored; at times willfully misunderstood by the press—which has failed to reduce the group into mere perverse whimsy. Despite it all, CocoRosie has continuously pursued the bravest and boldest routes, uplifting the rawest, unveiled, and most tender strands of humanity and nudging us toward the light.

CocoRosie has released seven studio albums to date: Put The Shine On (2020), Heartache City (2015), Tales of a Grasswidow (2013), Grey Oceans (2010), The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn (2007), Noah’s Ark (2005), and La maison de mon rêve (2004). In addition to CocoRosie tours and festival performances worldwide, CocoRosie has composed original scores for four full-length theatrical works by acclaimed director Robert Wilson; Peter Pan, Pushkin's Fairy Tales, Edda, and Jungle Book - with another project underway. They have also worked with the Kronos Quartet at their Jazz Festival in San Francisco for two seasons, creating a new collection of songs that will become a collaborative album with Kronos.

As a visual artist, Bianca Casady has mounted solo art exhibitions internationally, including at Deitch Projects (2007) and Cheim & Read Gallery (2012). As an experimental theater director, Bianca has created several plays, including NightShift (2012) at Kampnagel in Hamburg, Germany, Mother Hunting (2015) at the National Theater in Oslo, Norway, and The Angel Show (2017) at the National Theater Academy in Norway. Bianca hosts an ongoing experimental poetry course titled Remembering The Miracle and in 2023, the artist published her first poetry book, Au bord du ciel: Heaven bound. Sierra Casady has arranged and performed music globally, including with the Symphony Orchestra of Amsterdam, The ICA in London and The Sydney Opera House and created “Soul Life,” an Opera staged at the Donau Festival in Krems.

Today UK-born and New York based singer, songwriter, producer, doula, and mother Domino Kirke is proud to announce her sophomore full length LP,  The Most Familiar Star  due to release on April 18th. With the announcement comes a haunting and beautiful single and video for ‘It’s Not There’, a collaboration with Angel Olsen about questioning the family you chose, with hypnotic vocals revolving around a Sharon Van Etten sample.

Kirke wrote and recorded The Most Familiar Star with Elliot Krimsky and Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, all parents to young children. “This whole album is about coming back to yourself and meeting you where you are,” Kirke notes. “Pretty much every song addresses loss of self and later renewal. The core themes are grieving who you used to be pre-family, pre-marriage, and pre-parenthood and then reuniting with parts of yourself that you’d perhaps lost while trying to understand how the landscape of your life looks post-change.” The result is an artfully shaped living and breathing soundscape anchored by rich instrumentation suited to Domino’s range and lyrics.

Domino initially captivated listeners at the helm of the band Domino, touring with everyone from Lily Allen to Gang Of Four. She evolved across solo releases such as Everyone Else Is Boring EP [2006], The Guard EP [2012], and the unanimously applauded Beyond Waves [2017]. Her journey into motherhood paralleled this musical trajectory. She first became a mom in 2009 and welcomed her second son during 2020. In the meantime, she concurrently founded and led in-demand Brooklyn-based doula collective Carriage House Birth and co-authored the 2021 book Life After Birth: Portraits of Love and the Beauty of Parenthood.

Along the way, Domino carefully assembled The Most Familiar Star with Krimsky and Taylor. “We’re all deeply creative, but we’re also really invested in being attentive parents. We wonder, ‘Can we do it all?’ A lot of the songs are about this central question. Most people attempt to become parents in silos and corners of themselves without art, creativity, or community. That’s impossible. I believe parents need to be witnessed by each other, communities, and themselves.”

It was also important to Domino that the accompanying visuals thoughtfully reflect the album’s themes. The video for ‘It’s Not There’ is a gorgeous dance performance by real life dancers, actors, and choreographers Omri Drumlevich and Zina Zinchenko, who are a real life couple. The shoot took place over the course of about a year and a half, parts shot during their pregnancy and parts shot after the baby had been born. The result is a beautiful statement on the energy shift that parents have going from one child to more than one.

“When people listen to this, I really want them to listen to the words carefully,” Kirke adds. “Fans will often tell me, ‘Wow, I didn’t know I needed to hear you say that.’ I hope these songs are a balm for your soul, but also force you to maybe go to therapy,” she laughs.

London-based multi-disciplinary artist Clara Mann is set to release her debut album ' Rift ' on state51 and today is sharing emotional new single " Doubled Over ". Mann is also set to tour later this year with headline shows in London, Bristol, Manchester & Edinburgh alongside wider performances in the UK & EU including The Great Escape Festival.

On the track, Mann said “This is about love, and the physical pain of heartbreak. I’m not very good at talking about those feelings, I guess that’s why I put it in a song- if I knew how to talk about it in any other way, I wouldn’t have had to write it. Love is the best and hardest thing I do, the thing I’m proudest of, and the end of it is crippling. In the end, we take the risk every time, because good love is worth it."

There is a rift in the landscape, a rupture in the fabric of the sky. The distant silhouette of the city disintegrates as the ground begins to shudder and shake beneath your feet, splitting open to reveal a place that’s always been there—it just took your entire world collapsing for you to discover it.

Singer-songwriter Clara Mann’s evocative debut album navigates the fractured environment of the in-between—those liminal spaces exposed between light and dark, growth and remorse, loss and reclamation. It is a record that makes a strong case for hope, those luminescent silver linings in the dark.

Mann's music reflects the people and places that have shaped and held her—physically, emotionally, and creatively. Raised in the Lot Valley in rural France before moving to the UK for her teens, these formative years provided her with a deep sense of belonging, identity, and growth. Yet, it is in motion that Mann feels most at home: “Just the sun above me and my keys and my car." Her new record is a testament to this state of in-betweenness, inviting you to step into a place that has always existed within yourself.

After releasing her second EP Stay Open in 2022, the time and space between then and now has culminated in Rift, which vividly gestures toward the fractures and ruptures that define our lives. Yet, it is more than just an album; it captures the journey and strength it takes to look inward and to move forwards through the pain of it all. Its first track, "It Only Hurts", begins in a place of hopelessness, stemming from the loss of a relationship and, in turn, a future. It is a blank space that stretches out before you, where the landscape is torn apart like icebergs cracking and drifting. But hope remains a beacon of light throughout the album, a lighthouse guiding you across tumultuous waters.

Influenced by artists like Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Judee Sill, and Tom Waits, Mann has a deep love and care for songwriting. Her lyrics are vivid and visceral, and her approach to songwriting is not one of purging emotions but rather of composting them—digesting life’s experiences and cultivating them into something meaningful, tangible, hopeful. She is also a talented visual artist, and this often plays an integral role in her songwriting process. Using the intricate and sweeping motion of illustrating with ink, charcoal, and sometimes watercolour, she can evoke thoughts and poetry onto the page, offering a way of making sense of things and to communicate in a way that words alone cannot.

The album was primarily recorded at the 4AD Studios in London, produced and mixed by Fabian   (Martha Skye Murphy, Ex:Re, Fabiana Palladino) who carefully facilitated an imaginative space for Mann to express the playful, strange and real parts of herself. Two of the tracks, "It Only Hurts", and the title track "Rift" were both recorded in the living room studio of her friend Tom Kellett’s home in just one afternoon, with this setting mirroring the raw intimacy of these tracks. She has also previously toured with the likes of Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear), Billie Marten, Bill Ryder-Jones and Youth Lagoon.

For Mann, the album is a tangible expression of her entire world—a snow globe raised in her palms for the world to see, in all its layers and complexities, containing all her love, relationships, memories, and experiences. It is this sheer transparency that has allowed her to relinquish and accept all parts of herself—the guilt, pain, and beauty of it all—like “swallows in the morning air, circling the dam.” Its truthfulness is its strength, not shying away from the painful experiences of life but embracing them as essential to the human experience and as part of our tapestry.

With Rift, Clara Mann acknowledges the cracks through which both despair and hope can seep. It is a deeply personal record, yet it is universally resonant, holding the mirror up to herself and to the world around her. It is a record that reflects on embracing our fault lines, navigating the ruptures that can erupt from them and moving forwards, in motion, with a renewed sense of self and aliveness. Mann’s debut album, Rift is all of her—her past, her present, her emotions, her experiences—and now, it is for you.

What the press is saying about Cuco:

"A Cuco we’ve never seen before, all parts heartbroken, hopeful, and evolving"

NPR

"A defining figure in the alternative pop space, in which he stands out with his bilingual approach to songwriting"

Billboard

"The most present Cuco has ever sounded"

Rolling Stone

Cuco is on top and shows no signs of slowing down”

Galore Magazine cover

(February 12th, 2025) - Today, Cuco shares his first new single of 2025 with "ICNBYH." The song is a dreamy and romantic number that harkens back to Cuco's musical beginnings while drawing from Southern California's rich Chicano Soul scene to create a truly singular sound. The acronym stands for "I can never break your heart," which Cuco repeats as a sweet refrain throughout the chorus of the love song.

Produced by Tom Brenneck (collaborator of Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars), "ICNBYH" seamlessly bridges classic soul sensibilities with modern pop production. The track features an all-star lineup of musicians, including Alex Garcia, Sal Samano of Thee Sacred Souls, as well as Dave Guy and Ian Hendrickson-Smith of The Roots and The Tonight Show. Brenneck, known for his legendary guitar work with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and contributions to Grammy-winning albums like Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black," brings his signature vintage-meets-contemporary approach to the production.

The new single is the first marker of a larger musical evolution that Cuco explores across his forthcoming album.

Cuco's superpower is creating a conduit between cultures and generations by exploring musical eras and candidly crooning universal topics of love and heartache that bind; the intimacy of such expression offers a mainstream audience an invitation to get to know themselves.

"ICNBYH" comes after Cuco's Hitchhiker EP, recorded at Big Bad Sound in his hometown of Los Angeles, and boasts production credits from Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Hole, Red Hot Chili Peppers). The EP followed his sophomore album, Fantasy Gateway, which Pitchfork described as having "newfound shine" and marked the opening of a fresh chapter.

Listen to "ICNBYH" above and stay tuned for more from Cuco coming soon.

Eiko Ishibashi Releases New Single "October"; New Album 'Antigone' Out March 28

ENTER THE MIND OF EIKO ISHIBASHI

LISTEN TO NEW SINGLE "OCTOBER"

Broadcasting from inside her own head, Eiko Ishibashi’s songs offer a chilling observation of a drastically-altering reality. On March 28, the accomplished keyboardist/multi-instrumental composer will release her sweeping new production, Antigone — her eagerly-awaited 4th album of traditional songcraft on Drag City, not counting last year’s award-winning Evil Does Not Exist soundtrack. Today, Eiko releases Antigone’s all-consuming opening track: “October”.

Antigone’s soaring opener launches with an orchestral-cum-concrète buildup that jumps abruptly into Eiko and band in full flight, guitars and keys burbling kaleidoscopically. Behind her sumptuous vocal melody and the band’s gossamer groove, the static crackle of voice transmissions on “October” gesture to the album’s dystopian depths. Eiko’s lyrics pen a dire predicament:

Demolish in June

The columns rise up

Ashes fall in August

in October

the blood shines

in October

Throughout her eclectic solo career, Eiko Ishibashi's pop-writing sensibilities have drifted in and out of a dreamlike state. Her recent soundtrack work for Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s last few films — Drive My Car (2021) and Evil Does Not Exist (2023) —  have had just as much of an influence on Antigone’s misty, intricate production. Eiko's cinematic approach to these compositions was deeply absorbed by her backing band, with impassioned performances by drummer Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, bassist Marty Holoubek, Norwegian accordionist Kalle Moberg, backing vocalist ermhoi, percussionist Joe Talia, and Jim O’Rourke on Bass VI, synths, and otherwise. Washes of new age production further cement a sense of the immaculate on Antigone, visited by the near-absurd and otherworldly.

The veil will be lifted from Antigone on March 28, 2025. Following the album’s release, Eiko Ishibashi will perform at New York’s Knockdown Center for the 2025 edition of Outline.

The newly-added shows follow previously confirmed dates in the Spring with Sam Austins supporting, nearly all of which have sold out.The upcoming headline run is in continued celebration of the band’s wildly successful sophomore album,  Imaginal Disk , released to widespread critical acclaim in August via Mom+Pop Music, written and produced in full by Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin —get it  HERE . Featured on Best of 2024 lists from  Paste Magazine  which named single “ Death & Romance ” the #1 song of the year— The New York Times Rolling Stone Vulture Pitchfork Stereogum Vogue  and more, Imaginal Disk found Magdalena Bay selling out every date of their 2024 North American and European/U.K. headline tours, making their late night debut on “ Jimmy Kimmel Live! ” with a performance of “ Image ,” which was later reworked by  Grimes , and even getting a nod to the Imaginal Disk album cover from Rosalía’s Halloween costume.Critical acclaim for Imaginal Disk…“This record improves upon the last one in nearly every way—it can be dreamy, it can be slightly skuzzy, it is often sort of just a bit askew, but it also feels self-contained within a little snow globe imagining its own world...this record sounds like a group that has discovered exactly what they want their songs to do and how to get them to do it.”—NPR Music“In the current pop landscape, there are few acts as exciting—or as remarkably consistent—as Magdalena Bay...Imaginal Disk is nothing if not a window into the minds of two weird and wonderful geniuses at work.”—Vogue“They craft this impulse into a maximalist, brute-force expansion of pop music’s boundaries—not quite 'recession pop,' a hyper-online catch-all for dystopian dance music, but the creation of a liminal space where everything, from choruses to keyboards to convictions, feels and sounds convincingly 8D.”—Pitchfork“Few groups are making as inventive, catchy pop music as Magdalena Bay…Their music, often narrative-based and paired with equally stunning visuals, excels in tension, pairing gossamer-sounding production with dark lyrics.”—Vulture“These songs take twists and turns that mirror the futuristic bent of the lyrics, and it’s immediately memorable despite its thrilling unpredictability. The Miami-bred, Los Angeles-based musicians double down on their ideas here, and it’s refreshing to hear glimmering pop music that is this unafraid of itself, carving its own singular path.”—Stereogum“...it’s as though Tenenbaum and Lewin set out not just to prove themselves as formidable pop stars, but as musicians through and through. They’re a pop act with a rockist core, but their insertions of prog, shoegaze, or even disco never feel done in a way that suggests pop is lesser without it, but adds muscularity to their music.”—Paste Magazine“this new synth-heavy sound feels more playful and bouncy, crafting new otherworldly limits in their own little electro-pop world.”—V Magazine“It's a significant leap forward for the Los Angeles duo, with some of their stickiest and riskiest songs yet.”—Consequence

Magdalena Bay is the Los Angeles by way of Miami duo consisting of Mica Tenenbaum (vocals, producer, songwriter) and Matthew Lewin (producer, songwriter). The two first met at an after-school music program in Miami where they grew up, bonding over shared musical influences and eventually starting a prog rock band Tabula Rasa. That band broke up, but when Tenenbaum and Lewin crossed paths again in college, they reconnected with the goal of making something closer to pop music that blends retro and futuristic elements under the moniker Magdalena Bay. They released a series of EPs leading up to their critically acclaimed debut album, Mercurial World, in 2021 and went on to sell out their first headlining tour, play numerous festivals around the world—including Coachella in 2023, tour with Charli xcxCaroline PolachekFlume and collaborate with Lil YachtyJIHYOBlu DeTiger and more.ABOUT MOM+POP MUSICSince launching 16 years ago, Mom+Pop Music has curated a critically acclaimed list of artists and has seen significant success releasing music from MGMT, Courtney Barnett, Orion Sun, Caamp, Maya Hawke, Del Water Gap, Porter Robinson, Goth Babe, Tycho, Tom Morello and many others.
