IRON LUNG unleash their vital 64-second onslaught, “Cog II”. The single “grapples with how the governing bodies view their citizenry in a time of crisis. People are treated as an expendable resource not unlike gasoline, compost or potable water. To achieve their ends, they take what they want from us and throw the rest away. So wasteful and inhumane,” Iron Lung express. "To the powers that control existence, human life is worthless. We’re used and discarded, treated like human garbage. They’re waiting for the breakdown. We’re fertilizer. We are worth absolutely nothing. Totally expendable. The process of being replaced has begun again."
Its arresting video presents a patient being prepped and processed for Electro Shock Therapy treatment in 1941 at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, sourced from the National Library of Medicine. Watch it below.

On Adapting // Crawling, the first new album in 12 years from hardcore / DIY vets IRON LUNG, duo Jensen Ward and Jon Kortland take head shots at mental health with specific emphasis on the exacting tolls the past five years have taken on humanity. From the beginning, IRON LUNG have ethically / sonically approached the world: Do It Yourself, obscure, extreme, maladjusted and utterly free from the constraints of “music” or, more widely, rules in general. Each record has been written around a concept.
Iron Lung See No End In Sight.. Read Recent Interview w/ See Saw
Adapting // Crawling acts as a sliced cadaver with each song a newly peeled layer exposing the corrosive effects of deep depression, a failed healthcare system, heavy grief from multiple friends/family deaths, paranoia and distrust of government, meaningless existence and loss. So much loss. When time disappeared between 2020 and 2023, the loss of function, of relation, of drive, of everything was incalculable. Life goes on but we lose a little more each day. To help cope with that crushing reality, Iron Lung finally sat down and wrote about their pain.
In order to not be consumed by it, they built a wall around themselves utilizing an “us versus them” modality in the lyrics. All of the band’s points of view are from the “we” stance and are funneled through their long established lens of antiquated medical procedures and devices. The only times that mode breaks is when quoting an outsider view before rejecting and destroying it. The power belongs to Iron Lung and by association, to the allied listener.
Adapting // Crawling arrives April 18 via the band’s own esteemed imprint, Iron Lung Records. Iron Lung have confirmed performances throughout 2025 across North America, UK, Japan, Australia, Iceland, so on, including a highly anticipated return to NYC this summer. The band are also set to celebrate the label’s 18th anniversary simultaneously with a three day hometown fest - What We Like - which takes over Seattle April 18 - 20. The weekend includes 26 exceptional bands from all around the globe, most of them with releases in the Iron Lung Records fam, plus two films, an art show and local cuisine. The event takes over three venues - all shows, all ages. Tickets and more info are here. For a full list of live dates, see below.

ORBITAL 2 (THE BROWN ALBUM EXPANDED)
Orbital’s seminal second album, commonly known as the Brown Album , will be re-released on May 23 via London Records on vinyl, cassette, CD and digital platforms. It is the first time the album has been pressed on vinyl for over a decade.
The Brown Album reissue celebrates the legacy of the groundbreaking 1993 album which pushed the boundaries of electronic music and solidified Orbital's place as the Godfathers of Rave. Alongside the release, Orbital will be continuing their series of LEDs (Limited Edition Drops), with the 4th instalment in the form of Radiccio , their 4-track 1992 release, out now digitally and available to purchase on a 12” vinyl reissue.
To coincide with today’s announcement, new single “Deepest” featuring Tilda Swinton, is out now digitally via the Radiccio EP. The Academy Award-winning actor joins The Godfathers of Rave for this brand new interpretation of their 1989 track “Deeper” It has been released due to phenomenal demand after the iconic actor made a surprise appearance at Glastonbury 2024, joining Orbitalon the Park Stage. Her hypnotic recitation captivated the live audience and quickly went viral online and became a standout moment of the festival.
Listen to “Deepest” (feat. Tilda Swinton) HERE .

The Brown Album reissue will be released with 23 additional tracks - rarities and previously unreleased material from the Brown Album period. The album has been cut at half speed, to ensure maximum audio fidelity. It will be available in a host of special physical formats, with the vinyl box set featuring a special hardback book containing unseen photos, a slipmat, a track-by-track by Phil and Paul Hartnoll themselves, and interviews and essays on the making of the album by esteemed music journalist Andrew Harrison. Also included are rare mixes from Underworld, CJ Bolland and Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia.
Released in 1993, the Brown Album defied expectations and had a significant genre and cultural impact - showcasing the duo's scope and ambition. It was also met with widespread critical acclaim upon release, with NME awarding it 9/10 in their review, and it was chosen as one of Mixmag’s best albums of all time. The album staked out a creative space far beyond the reductive world of by-numbers rave bangers, and featured experimental elements inspired by avant-garde composer Steve Reich and nods to their squat-punk roots. Tracks like "Satan" resonated with the "crusty rave" scene, finding a welcoming audience at Megadog nights. The album's blend of diverse influences and its rejection of conventional norms helped to solidify Orbital's reputation as innovative artists, expanding the horizons of electronic music beyond local DJ nights.
Another standout track, “Halcyon + On + On,” became an instant classic, known for its ethereal atmosphere and haunting vocal sample from Opus III’s “It’s a Fine Day.” The track’s dreamy progression and uplifting yet melancholic tone made it a staple in film soundtracks and DJ sets, embodying the emotional depth electronic music could achieve. The album also includes “Impact (The Earth Is Burning)” - another defining moment, and “Lush 3-1” and “Lush 3-2.”
With the Brown Album , brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll created a unique listening experience, developed from live performances, moving their sound on from their debut, Green Album released two years prior. It explores wider ranges of sounds than previously heard from the duo as they had evolved from the M25 to an international touring act - from ambient textures to hard-hitting techno, didgeridoo, and sampling an Australian pedestrian light. It was created at the Strongroom Studio in London’s Shoreditch - a Brill building of rave and a true hub of creativity influencing the album's direction. The album encapsulates the energy of early 90s rave culture and draws inspiration from diverse sources such as Mutoid Waste parties and the emerging jungle scene of the time.
Following well received headline performances last year in the U.S., including SOLD OUT dates in New York City, Chicago and appearances at Ultra Festival in Miami and Coachella in Indio, CA, Orbital are currently in the midst of the UK and European leg of their Brown & Green Album Tour, recently playing shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Belfast, Glasgow and more. They play London’s Brixton Academy on Saturday, April 5. For a full list of live shows and to purchase tickets, please visit www.orbitalofficial.com/live.
Orbital will release their reissue of the Brown Album on May 23 via London Records.

Wet releases new album 'Two Lives'

RELEASES NEW ALBUM
TWO LIVES OUT NOW
U.S. HEADLINE TOUR THIS MAY
WITH SUPPORT FROM JULIE BYRNE

Wet by Reid Calvert
Two Lives
(April 4, 2025) - New York’s Wet releases their new album Two Lives today. Their fourth full-length album includes the previously shared songs “Close Range,” “Coffee In The Morning,” “Signs,” “Double,” “Rosy,” and “My Everything.” Two Lives was produced and recorded with longtime collaborators Joe Valle and Marty Sulkow, along with Daniel Aged, Amber Coffman, Buddy Ross and Aidan Spiro. Earlier this week, Wet’s Kelly Zutrau contributed a moving essay to Byline openly discussing risk, adolescence, and her latest journey as a mother. An excerpt from that is below:
“When I found out I was pregnant my whole world got turned around. How could I possibly risk trusting someone enough to have a baby with them and risk what kind of parent I would be. Risk giving up my freedom and risk ruining someone else’s life. These are the questions I was wrestling with while making the album. Can I move on from the safety of the world I’ve carefully created onto something that could be deeper, more meaningful but it’s a big risk to take.
There is a terror that comes along with loving someone that much. Loving someone as deeply as you love your child or life partner comes hand in hand with the unbearable knowledge that you will have to face losing them one day one way or another. I try not to let it but most days the anxiety that this tension creates infiltrates almost every minute of my life now even if it’s just sitting quietly at the back of my mind, it’s always there. That’s what I’ve been writing songs about lately. There’s this love for your child - your family - this deep love that gives such great meaning to everything but that comes with an equally deep fear of losing them. But if anything is worth the risk in this life it is probably that.”
Additionally, Wet will embark on a headline U.S. tour with support from Julie Byrne this May. The eight-date tour will see Wet and Julie Byrne perform in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Washington D.C., New York City and Boston. Tickets on sale HERE.
About Two Lives:
The name of Wet’s fourth album, Two Lives, originated during a dramatic moment in 2022. Singer-writer Kelly Zutrau was in Portland with the producer Buddy Ross (Frank Ocean, Haim), and the two were struggling to focus on music. But Zutrau was jolted into action when she received some surprising news: She was pregnant. At first, she felt overwhelmed by grief. Her future suddenly felt narrow and constricted, the limitless potential of youth yanked from her in a single moment. That day, she wrote the lyric that would define the mood of the entire record: “I wish I could live two lives.” Zutrau and Ross wrote most of Two Lives in the days following the positive pregnancy test. It serves as a document of the uncertainty that surrounds life’s major transitions.
Wet fans will hear Zutrau’s personal evolution across Two Lives, an album on which she grapples with memories of her own childhood as she faces the daunting transition into motherhood. In a recent interview, she recalled her early experiences growing up in Boston as the first of four daughters to her young single mother in the 1990s. “We were constantly moving around and lived with a certain amount of unpredictability, but my mom was very encouraging of anything artistic. Always signing us up for local plays, and taking me to singing auditions.” Zutrau said. You can feel this sense of unpredictability on Two Lives, as Zutrau explores ideas of home, restlessness, and the eternal search for something that’s been missing. Zutrau taps into the surreal space between the past and the present, creating a dreamy collage of memories and emotional ephemera.
Wet’s sound has evolved, too: During Wet’s early days, the group established themselves as savvy pop songwriters with a knack for genre-defying production. As Zutrau has evolved, she’s retreated from the polish and tidiness of her earlier songs. She still has a pop sensibility and an ear for hooks, as demonstrated on “Nostalgia,” her 2023 collaboration with rapper Rod Wave and her first appearance on a Billboard chart-topping album, along with her recent appearance on Fred Again’s Actual Life 3 album. But now, after a decade of making slicker-sounding albums and collaborations, Zutrau has accessed a deeper, messier realm of her artistic psyche, and seems to be more interested in working at the unfinished fringes of pop. The album was produced and recorded with Zutrau's longtime collaborators Joe Valle and Marty Sulkow, along with Daniel Aged (Inc. no world, Rosalia), Amber Coffman (Dirty Projectors), Buddy Ross and Aidan Spiro. The result of these collaborations is a project that is sometimes melancholic, sometimes bright, and always soulful.

EMPIRE OF THE SUN’S 'ASK THAT GOD (REMIXES)' OUT TODAY

EMPIRE OF THE SUN’S ASK THAT GOD (REMIXES) OUT TODAY
U.S. LEG OF ASK THAT GOD TOUR KICKS OFF APRIL 23

The inimitable Empire of the Sun expand the world of Ask That God, their critically acclaimed fourth LP, with a six-track remix album, released today via EMI AUS/Capitol Records. Featuring the likes of Solomun, Adam Ten, Vintage Culture, LP Giobbi, DJ Tennis and more, the collection mines a rich vein of club-ready modern house and techno. Listen here.
Solomun, a master of modern techno, applies his characteristic depth and nuance to "Television." Packing the track with drama and late-night energy, he stretches out the anxious lyrics over honey-dipped vintage synthesizers and marching band snare drums. Listen here.
Brazilian producer/DJ Vintage Culture brings his unique touch to Ask That God fan favorite “Cherry Blossom,” amping up the original with massive kick drums and quivering synths. Adam Ten delivers a body-rocking take on “Music On The Radio," dialling down the disco elements and molding the track into a warehouse-ready slice of modern house. Boundary-breaking producer LP Giobbi brings a dramatic touch to the wistful “Happy Like You,” adding velvety layers and exhilarating beats.
Empire of the Sun continue their reign as one of the most dynamic live acts in modern music. After touring Australia and Mexico, they will launch the U.S. leg of their tour on April 23 at The Fillmore in Detroit. See below for itinerary. Click here for ticketing information.
With many shows already sold out, the band has added a trio of California dates, beginning with a night at Channel 24 in Sacramento (May 4). The Cercle Odyssey in Los Angeles will host Empire of the Sun on May 8. The band will perform at the center of the structure, which is the world’s first large-scale 360-degree immersive nomad concert installation of its kind. The concert will unfold like a living painting with videos reflecting humanity and nature projected onto the walls and ceiling, all synchronized live with the music. On May 10, Empire of the Sun will perform at the Just Like Heaven Festival at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
The EU/UK leg of the tour will kick off on July 23 in Lisbon, Portugal. Today, the band announced the addition of a second show in Brussels – August 19. Tickets for this show will go on sale next Friday, April 11, here.

Following the release of Ask That God, Empire of the Sun elevated the experience with a digital deluxe edition, released in January via EMI AUS/Capitol Records. The new edition of the album includes two brand-new, never-before-heard tracks “Dark Secrets” and “Somebody’s Son” feat. Lindsey Buckingham. Listen here. Hailing “Somebody’s Son” as one of the best new dance tracks, Billboard said, “The song gives off Christine McVie vibes at their airy brightest, with the song essentially functioning as a hymn to California…” This Song Slaps noted, “these tracks are more than just additions—they’re expansions, each one offering a new dimension to the already vivid tapestry of ‘Ask That God.’”
The duo has already proven that their music can transcend borders, having amassed over eight billion streams, and sold more than 5.5 million albums globally. With timeless songwriting at the core of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore’s ethos for the band, it's perhaps no surprise that as fans continue to discover the kaleidoscopic world of Ask That God, Empyrean classic “We Are The People” has arrived back into the global charts, smashing through 1.2 million daily streams earlier this month, a new high-water mark for the track – 17 years after the initial release. Check out We Are The People (Reimagined) here.

Yann Tiersen's New Album 'Rathlin from a Distance |The Liquid Hour' Is Out Today On Mute
YANN TIERSEN
NEW ALBUMRATHLIN FROM A DISTANCE | THE LIQUID HOUR
OUT NOW ON MUTE

credit: Aurélie Scouarnec
Today Yann Tiersen has released his highly-anticipated new album Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour (buy/listen HERE). One album divided into two distinct, interconnected parts, each with its own unique sonic characteristics. One introspective piano part meditating on identity and one electronic and dynamic part to fuel an uprising against the systems that bind us. The release is joined by a new single and video, “Ninnog.”
“Ninnog” (the name of Tiersen’s sailboat) is a slow, steady and unfurling piece that sets the tone for a record that reveals itself in beautiful and unexpected shifts. Accompanied by a video directed by Murat Gökmen, who also directed the video for “Ninnog at Sea”, the track opens Rathlin from a Distance’s eight instrumental piano pieces. The album release has been punctuated with singles like “Rathlin from a Distance,” a meditation on identity that highlights Tiersen’s exceptional piano playing and “Ninnog at Sea,” an electronic anthem blending Tiersen’s seafaring reflections into a dynamic track that pulses with rage, hope and the call to dismantle and rebuild for a radiant collective future. Yann’s most recent releases are “Arne,” an expansive and hypnotic soundscape interwoven with QUINQUIS’ ethereal vocals and “Caledonian Canal,” a masterclass of stripped back tenderness.
Listen to Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour HERE.
Yann Tiersen will perform live at a sold-out show at Barbican in London on April 19, 2025. Two new in-stores have also been announced at Rough Trade Bristol on April 17, and Liverpool on April 21, along with new European tour dates. The full live dates are listed below.

Rathlin from a Distance features eight instrumental piano pieces, each named after a location Tiersen visited during his 2023 sailing tour. From the Atlantic’s Fastnet Lighthouse to the Faroe Islands, Shetland, and the tranquil waters of the Caledonian Canal in Scotland, these tracks reflect a journey of self-discovery and self. Tiersen’s piano work creates an almost hypnotic atmosphere, each stop on the journey marking a deeper level of consciousness. The music evokes a sense of space and introspection.
While Rathlin from a Distance is meditative, The Liquid Hour, which Tiersen was working on when he decided things needed to be torn down, is a bold and urgent musical statement, which opens with an epic, sweeping track that channels Tiersen’s desire for social and political change. The inspiration for this section of the album was rooted in Tiersen’s experiences at sea, particularly a moment when he gazed upon the lights of Belfast, alone at the helm of his sailboat in the middle of the night, after nearly two months at sea. This moment of serenity led to deep reflections on the city’s troubled history and its connection to broader political struggles. The expansive sonic palette of The Liquid Hour blends atmospheric ambient music, hypnotic grooves, and striking electronic instrumentation, with the haunting vocals of Émilie Quinquis adding a powerful dimension to the album’s message.
Tiersen’s innovative use of vintage and electronic instruments, including the Ondioline, a rare 1930s electronic instrument loaned to him by Gotye’s Forgotten Futures organization, adds a rich texture to the recordings. He also employed four different drum machines to create tribal rhythms and pulsing beats that push the boundaries of electronic music. The Liquid Hour is an exploration of both personal and collective power, a call to action set against the backdrop of global crises.
Tiersen has long embraced sustainability in his touring practices, opting to travel by sailboat and campervan in order to embrace slow touring and minimise his environmental impact, re-writing the script for what it means to be a touring musician in the modern age. This approach embodies the album’s broader themes of reflection, environmental awareness, and the search for deeper meaning in a world defined by crisis and change. “At sea, you get to see the world as it is,” says Tiersen. “The sea is the ultimate reality. There are no borders, and you can go everywhere. It really hits home the bullshit of borders.”
The Liquid Hour culminates with a powerful closing track named after Dolores Ibárruri, the Spanish anti-fascist, known for her legendary "¡No Pasarán!" speech, a defiant call for action against capitalism, post-colonialism, and the ongoing ecocide. As Tiersen puts it, “It’s not about anger. It’s about finding a way to change.”
Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour is an album that spans the full spectrum of human emotion, from introspective reflection to powerful calls for change. With a unique blend of acoustic and electronic elements, it marks a bold new chapter in Yann Tiersen’s musical evolution.
Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour is available on vinyl, CD and digitally today via Mute. Purchase it HERE.The sheet music for the album is available now, published by Hal Leonard.

This morning, Consequence of Sound published a track by track breakdown of the new album and praised "their brand of acidic stoner rock... which falls somewhere between the camp of the Melvins and the socio-political commentary of contemporaries Chat Pile.” Northern Transmissions praised their “thrashy brilliance and controlled madness” while FLOOD Magazine proclaimed “This is Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs at their most straightforward and cutthroat: nine tracks that assault you with the single-minded fury of the phantom animals adorning the record’s cover.”
Last month, the band released the official video for the single “Glib Tongued” featuring El-P which followed the release of the “righteous horns-up riff-beast” (Stereogum) “Stitches” and the “five-plus-minute crusher” (Consequence) “Detroit.” The songs have been praised by BrooklynVegan, Glide Magazine, Metal Injection, Metal Sucks, The Needle Drop, New Noise Magazine, Stereogum, Vanyaland, Consequence and many more.
Last year, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs released a Record Store Day exclusive vinyl release of their explosive KEXP session, which has surpassed one million views on YouTube. Death Hilarious follows their breakthrough fourth studio album Land of Sleeper which was acclaimed by Pitchfork, Bandcamp Daily, Consequence of Sound, The Quietus, DIY Magazine, AllMusic and many more. In their 4 star review, The Guardian proclaimed, “their Black Sabbath-esque doom riffs make them accessible to anyone who has overlooked the past few decades worth of hard rock history… it’s undeniable that the band’s fourth album Land of Sleeper will keep listeners entrenched in their heady cosmos.”

(April 4th, 2025) - Cuco releases "Phases," the latest single from his upcoming album Ridin', arriving May 9th via Interscope Records. The song's lyrics depict the ending of a romantic relationship as Cuco opens the song singing about a “tenant in my heart” confronting a love that has turned sour.
"With 'Phases,' there wasn't a single direct inspiration—it was more about capturing an energy shift," Cuco explains. "We wanted to pick up the pace and create something more danceable that naturally makes you move. It's one of those songs that just came together in the moment." The new song follows previous single "My 45" featuring Jean Carter, which honors the classic soul sounds that have influenced Cuco's musical journey.
Cuco’s forthcoming album Ridin’ navigates themes of heartbreak, joy, and personal history while embracing moments of sweet romance resulting in Cuco’s most ambitious and emotionally resonant work to date. The presence of Chicano car culture is another consistent theme throughout the record and is embedded in the flow of the album. Cuco shares, "Everyone listens to music while driving—it's integral to your commute regardless of mood. You're moving through life's non-linear journey."
Ridin’ features production from Tom Brenneck (Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse). Brenneck, known for his guitar work with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Menahan Street Band, and contributions to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, brings his vintage-meets-contemporary approach to the production. Together, Cuco and Brenneck craft an organic sound, with Cuco elevating his dreamy vocals an octave higher for a rich neo-falsetto.
Cuco will also be performing a sold out hometown show at the El Rey on April 16th ahead of the album's release where he will be playing the full album start to finish. Listen to "Phases" above, find album details below, and stay tuned for more from Cuco coming soon.

A celebration of their deep-rooted connection to clubland and undeniable influence in the electronic space, Inhale / Exhale Remixed further expands on the band’s legacy as both creators and tastemakers. Curated by the trio, Inhale / Exhale Remixed will feature Turkish-Italian underground favorite Carlita, Haitian house producer Francis Mercier, Peruvian DJ Sofia Kourtesis, Swiss heavyhitter Andrea Oliva, German deep house artist Emanuel Satie, melodic innovator Enamour, Afro-tech powerhouse Nitefreak, and more alongside Adriatique’s “In The Moment” remix.
Leading Inhale / Exhale Remixed, Adriatique envelope “In the Moment” in their signature sound, lifting RÜFÜS’ soft original with ethereal synthwork and driving basslines to cadence the energy of the dancefloor. RÜFÜS and Adriatique have a collaborative history, starting when the Swiss duo’s remix of “On My Knees” launched the band’s Surrender (Remixes) in 2022. The following year, RÜFÜS offered their take on Adriatique and WhoMadeWho’s Rose Avenue-released single “Miracle”. The “In The Moment” remix sees the pairing come full circle with a rework that embodies the after-hours pulse of Inhale / Exhale Remixed.
Since the release of their widely celebrated fifth studio album last October, RÜFÜS DU SOL have cemented their status as one of the most successful live electronic acts in the world. They’ve broken personal records, like debuting on the Billboard 200 chart and earning their first No.1 on dance radio with “Music is Better”. Their ongoing Inhale / Exhale World Tour is the biggest-selling single artist electronic music tour of all time, a new milestone for the band.
The tour kicked off last month in South America with headline stops and performances at Lollapalooza Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. Adriatique’s “In the Moment” remix arrives just in time for the North American leg of the tour, which will start with a trio of sold out shows in Texas. The tour will continue into the summer for a nearly sold out run with stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, and Toronto, along with festival appearances at Lollapalooza and Up In The Sky.

Lucius’ new song “Do It All For You” debuts today
SELF-PRODUCED ALBUM OUT MAY 2 “THE GOLD RUSH TOUR” CONFIRMED

Photo credit: Dana TrippeApril 4, 2025—Acclaimed indie-pop band Lucius’ new song, “Do It All For You,” is out today. Listen/share HERE. Of the track, Lucius’ Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe share, “A deeply romantic, in moments self-sacrificing, love letter about how far you would go and how much you would give for the person you love.” “Do It All For You” is the final track unveiled in advance of the band’s highly anticipated new self-titled album, which will be released May 2 via Fantasy Records (pre-order/pre-save here). Already receiving critical acclaim, NPR Music included the record in their Spring Preview praising, “killer grooves, earworm melodies, and their voices are just so transfixing,” while Paste declares, “the vocalists have unlocked a completely new gear on this upcoming self-titled record of theirs.”Throughout their acclaimed career, Laessig and Wolfe have become some of the most sought-after collaborators in popular music, having performed and recorded with artists such as Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, John Legend, The Killers, Harry Styles, Sheryl Crow and many more. Now, with the release of Lucius, they’re poised for a long-overdue breakout, as they return with a record that cements them as a musical force entirely on their own. Produced by Lucius’ Dan Molad, the new album marks a full circle moment for the group (Laessig, Wolfe, Molad and Peter Lalish) as they return to their roots, writing and recording without seeking outside influence—their first time doing so since their debut over a decade ago. Across these eleven tracks, including previously released songs “ Gold Rush ,” “ Old Tape ” feat. Adam Granduciel and “ Impressions ” feat. Madison Cunningham, Lucius explores deeply personal topics, such as relationships, grief and life’s complexities, with a vulnerability only made possible due the familial nature of the band. Lucius was recorded between Los Angeles’ Altamira Sound and Molad’s home studio, Sounds Like A Fire, which has since become inoperable after being impacted by the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area earlier this year. Reflecting on the project, Lucius shares, “Our fourth studio album is the four of us, just as we first started recording together as a band. It’s raw and honest and feels like coming home; something that resonates deeply in this moment of our lives. We are home in so many senses of the word; in the last couple of years we’ve started setting roots, finding life partners, building families, growing gardens. We got dogs, (you can hear them in the background if you listen close). We wrote songs about life and relationships. We recorded them in our home studios. We saw the beginnings and endings of life cycles while making this record, the beauty and fragility of the human experience. So it’s only fitting that this album is self-titled, it’s our story, who we are now and how we got here. Welcome to our living room.” In celebration of the new music, Lucius will embark on “The Gold Rush Tour” this spring, which includes stops at New York’s Irving Plaza, Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, Philadelphia’s Union Transfer, Chicago’s The Salt Shed, Denver’s Ogden Theatre, Seattle’s Showbox, San Francisco’s The Warfield and more. They will also join Mumford & Sons for two shows at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium in August. See below for complete tour itinerary. Full details can be found at www.ilovelucius.com. In addition to Cunningham and Granduciel, Lucius features collaborations with Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith (“Stranger Danger”) and Ethan Gruska (songwriter on “Impressions”), as well as contributions from Luke Temple (electric guitar, “Do It All For You”), Rob Moose (strings, “At the End of the Day”) and Evan Smith (flutes, “At the End of the Day”).

Photo credit: Dana Trippe // album cover art, photo by Jack DavisonLucius, their fourth studio album, follows the band’s acclaimed 2022 record, Second Nature, which was produced by Brandi Carlile and Dave Cobb. Released to overwhelming acclaim, the Los Angeles Times praised, “dazzling…Second Nature mines an ’80s-pop sound with lush synths and sleek disco grooves under the women’s laser-guided vocals,” whileVariety declared, “with Second Nature…they’re no longer 20 feet or even a couple of yards from stardom, but re-claiming the spotlight for themselves” and Relix proclaimed, “stunning…a 10-song, smart-pop masterpiece.” Most recently, Lucius celebrated the 10-year-anniversary of their debut album, Wildewoman, with the release of Wildewoman (The New Recordings)—an expanded version of the record that features new versions of the 12 original tracks, including collaborations with friends Carlile, Marcus Mumford and Devon Gilfillian.
