PRAISE FOR CHLOTHEGOD

“A charismatic vocalist and clever songwriter whose songs oscillate between unfiltered soul, cathartic alt-rock, and punchy pop punk.”
Pigeons & Planes

“The vivacious, genre-defying chlothegod keeps audiences wrapped around her finger. Across this seven-track confessional journey, she blends guitar-driven pop, R&B, hip-hop, and punk influences for a rich, intoxicating soundscape that brings surprise and delight at every corner.”
KEXP

“Capturing the hearts of the masses.”
Clash (25 Artists Who Could Define 2025)

“Alt-R&B singer-songwriter chlothegod comes alive on her latest EP, I Feel Different Every Day. Driven by pure emotion, the project showcases the best of chlo’s quirkiness and relatability on songs like ‘Digging Around’ and ‘My GF H8s Me.’”
BET

“A vexed, all-consuming presence…compelling and triumphant.”
Alternative Press

“chlothegod’s artistry thrives on her ability to channel the chaotic beauty of her emotions.”
The Luna Collective

Today, chlothegod — the North Carolina born, LA based Alt-R&B singer-songwriter with a "vexed, all-consuming presence" (Alternative Press) — announces the deluxe edition of her recent sophomore EP I Feel Different Every Day, out April 14 via EQT. To celebrate, she's also sharing "Whats So Funny," one of the four new tracks featured on the deluxe EP. Listen to "What's So Funnyhere and presave I Feel Different Every Day (Deluxe) here.

After chlo's first ever US headline tour this month, she'll be supporting Orion Sun on tour this May; see all of the live dates below. Last week, chlothegod played at Pigeons & Planes' Medium Sized Backyard, watch the transfixing full performance here.

“For IFDED deluxe, I wanted to play with saying plainly that the rollercoaster of emotion is coming to an end and ultimately facing the hurt head on,” says chlo. “It allowed me to leave space in both the music and in myself, acknowledging the way my heart has been broken and the breaking I’ve also done. I’m no stranger to admitting my screws come loose, and while falling into old patterns is not the permanent solution, a track like 'I Think I' gives me some well deserved pay back.”

Of the EP, KEXP said “the vivacious, genre-defying chlothegod blends guitar-driven pop, R&B, hip-hop, and punk influences for a rich, intoxicating soundscape that brings surprise and delight at every corner,” while BET noted it’s “driven by pure emotion, the project showcases the best of chlo’s quirkiness and relatability.”

Within I Feel Different Every Day, chlo creates tracks with beguiling grooves and rollercoaster vocal ranges on “I Swear," soft guitar strums that turn into a screaming catharsis from childhood trauma as on the title track, a winking sense of humor that proves she can laugh at herself along the way on “My GF H8s Me,” and passionately dynamic percussive elements; queue the switch halfway through “I Know What Everyone Says About Me."

As a follow up to her acclaimed 2023 debut EP Nearly Straight, chlothegod stays sensitive in her storytelling, but the air is much different on I Feel Different Every Day — her rage, messiness, and exhaustion is felt deeply and heard loudly. The project is a document of a woman in her 20s, and chlo comes with a startling candor as she continues to figure out who she is and who she has yet to become. She’s as self aware as ever, and throughout the project, we’re invited in to uncover and examine her flaws (and likely our own at the same time).

"What's So Funny" is out now, listen to it here.

I Feel Different Every Day (Deluxe) is out April 14 via EQT, presave it here.

Miki Berenyi Trio will release their debut album Tripla this Friday, April 4 via Bella Union. The collection has already earned acclaim spanning StereogumUnder The RadarSPINBrooklynVeganFLOOD, Hearing Things, Talkhouse, American Songwriter, NPR “Into Music”, The Guardian, Uncut, MOJO and more. Today they share final album cut “Kinch” alongside an official video and announced a North American fall tourTickets on sale this Friday. The song brings to life the happy/sad stabs sometimes felt when Miki catches a glimpse of her dad, or Chris (Acland, Lush drummer who died in 1996) in the patchwork of framed photos on their hallway wall. Miki shares, “The lyrics are inspired by love and loss, and how those people never leave you, and how it makes you think about the nature of love.”

Watch / Share: “Kinch” video

Tripla’s richly layered, imaginative and uniquely slanted strain of dream pop is an often euphoric and sometimes melancholic mix of guitars and electronica, fronted by Miki’s instantly recognisable vocal, overlaid with an often profound and sometimes abrasive or yearning view of the world. From lashing out against macho aggression unleashed by social media types such as Andrew Tate to commenting on human self destruction spanning social intolerance to sexism to environmental issues, the shoegaze pioneers continue their politically-charged legacy with the new collection.

Miki Berenyi Trio, or MB3 for short, is named after its lead singer – a direct way to convey the presence of the former singer/co-guitarist of Lush, and one of the most instantly recognisable faces of the ‘90s - but the songwriting is entirely a three-way collaboration by Miki Berenyi, KJ ‘Moose’ McKillop and Oliver Cherer, as the album title describes: acknowledging the mother tongue of Miki’s father, Tripla is Hungarian for ‘triple’.

Tripla is completed by a superb mix by Paul Gregory (of Bella Union labelmates Lanterns On The Lake) and beautiful artwork by Chris Bigg – who designed the sleeves for Piroshka and contributed to all of Lush’s sleeves – incorporating photography from Martin Andersen. But for all the album’s heightened and sophisticated sound, MB3 have gone back to basics, not only recording at home but driving a car packed with their gear, loading in and out of venues themselves. “There is something very ‘grass roots’ about what we’re doing,” says Miki.  “There’s no point following the ‘announce the album, then tour, then record the next album’ route – we just want to wring as much enjoyment out of this as we can, and hope that it resonates somewhere!”

Wavves announces new album + Tour dates + shares Travis Baker-produced single

WAVVES ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM SPUN DUE OUT JUNE 6 VIA GHOST RAMP

ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

SHARES NEW TRAVIS BARKER-PRODUCED SONG AND VIDEO “GONER”

(March 31, 2025) - Wavves recently made a long-awaited return with their first new music since 2021, news of a newly launched Cannabis brand Wavvy Supply Co., and a Los Angeles County wildfire benefit show at Zebulon earlier in the month.

Now the band returns to announce their new album Spun, extensive North American tour dates, and share new single “Goner.” The Travis-Barker produced song arrives alongside a Brandon Dermer-directed music video filmed at Wavves’ recent Zebulon charity show. Dermer has previously directed Wavves’ 2013 video for “That’s On Me” and has directed videos for Blink-182 amongst others. Speaking about how the track came together with Travis, Williams shares:

“I had this song I had been sitting on, always revisited it and tried to record it a bunch of times but it was never just right. Eventually it was giving me PTSD. I was talking to Travis about doing some songs together and when I opened up the vault to him, this one jumped out so we laid it down and finally we got it right.”

“Goner” and the previously released “So Long,” will feature on the band’s forthcoming album, Spun, due out June 6th with a headline North American tour set to launch later that month with supporting acts from Beach Goons and additional support from DEath Leans and Chokecherry on selct dates. Like Nathan Williams’ earliest music, this album first took shape in a small shed behind his parents’ house known as the hideaway. It's the place where Williams made some of his earliest albums, before he became known for his uncanny ability to write songs that sneered at the world while evoking pathos, sympathy, and a deep understanding of how sometimes we’re our own worst enemies, and that can be okay.

Over a decade prior to this, Williams released King of the Beach an album that delivered on all of the promise that his first two homespun records Wavves and Wavvves captured. It’s an album that also catapulted the band to worldwide acclaim as one of the new darlings of indie rock. It was a cocky collection of pop-punk gems that brought fame so rapidly it also, in part, led to a widely publicized on stage meltdown at Primavera Fest. Wavves recovered, as they always do, and eventually entered the major label system, where the band released two albums before Williams became disillusioned by the lack of creative agency available to him. In 2017, Williams self-released You’re Welcome on his label, Ghost Ramp before returning to Fat Possum (the home of his first three albums) for Hideaway.

Fast forward to 2024, an older, wiser, and slightly less stoned Williams has again reunited with longtime bandmates Stephen Pope, Ross Traver, and Alex Gates for a new full-length Wavves album. Always known for their raucous live performances, Wavves fans can rest assured that 2025 will deliver on the last few years of relative quiet with new music and a massive North American tour on the way.

Fly that freak flag proudly.” “Everyday is Halloween” is one of the cuts on the forthcoming album,  The Squirrely Years Revisited , out now via Cleopatra Records that sees Jourgensen making peace with the past. After the incredible reception to Ministry’s With Sympathy and  Twitch -heavy set at Cruel World 2024, Jourgensen decided it was time to reexamine his long-dormant synth pop hits and give them a fresh polish 40 years later. Featuring 9 tracks (3 additional bonus tracks on CD),  The Squirrely Years Revisited  offers reworked versions of not only “Everyday Is Halloween,” but also “Work For Love,” “I’m Not An Effigy,” and “I’ll Do Anything For You.”   The Squirrely Years Revisited  follows the release of Ministry’s 16th studio album in 2024,  HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES,  and comes ahead of the final new studio album from Ministry in 2026, a record that has Jourgensen teaming up with Paul Barker once again. In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all-time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. Eight more albums would follow before an indefinite break in 2013, only to be unearthed again in 2018 with AmeriKKKant, continuing to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. The 2021 album Moral Hygiene marked a new creative era of Jourgensen and the band. MAN ON THE MOON TOUR THIS SUMMER

Los Angeles, CA (March 31, 2025) – Multi-platinum band Fitz and The Tantrums have surprised fans with the release of “Ruin The Night,” their first new music of 2025. The dancefloor-ready single is available to stream and download now HERE via Atlantic Records. Watch the song’s lyric video on the band’s YouTube channel HERE. Produced by Jonas Jeberg (Panic! At The Disco, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj), the introspective track sees co-lead vocalist Michael 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick tangled in the past, while trying to remain grounded in the present.

“Some memories just refuse to take the hint. ‘Ruin The Night’ is about trying to move on while the past is still living rent-free in your head. It’s raw, It’s real, and it’s a little messy, but that’s life,” Fitz shares. “This track is just the beginning. More to come!”

Fitz and The Tantrums have also announced a massive 31-city summer headline tour. The Man On The Moon Tour will kick off on July 24 in San Diego, CA, visit major markets across North America, and wrap on August 31 in Austin, TX. Aloe Blacc and Neal Francis will appear as special guests on select dates. Ax and the Hatchetman, SNACKTIME, and Gable Price and Friends will provide support. The tour’s complete itinerary can be found below. Citi is the official card of the Man On The Moon Tour.  Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning Wednesday, April 2 at 10:00am local time through the Citi Entertainment program. For complete presale details visit www.citientertainment.com. General on-sale begins this Friday, April 4 at 10:00am local time HERE.

“Fitz and The Tantrums summer tour = guaranteed serotonin. Bangers, throwbacks, unhinged dancing. You already know. Pull up to the Man On The Moon Tour and let’s make some memories,” Fitz adds.

“Ruin The Night” maintains the momentum of a prolific period of creativity for Fitz and the band. The track follows Fitz’ sophomore solo album Summer Of Us, which was released last November. Watch his unforgettable performance of lead single “Wind In My Sails” on The Talk HERE. Last May, Fitz and The Tantrums interpolated Vitamin C’s 1999 classic “Graduation (Friends Forever)” on their single “No Goodbyes (Friends Forever).” Watch their performance of the uplifting track on LIVE with Kelly and Mark HERE. Fitz and The Tantrums closed out 2023 with the release of Perfect Holiday, a collection of five original holiday songs, featuring fan-favorite “Give Love This Year”.

Fitz and The Tantrums’ latest studio album Let Yourself Free was released in 2022. Highlighted by singles “Sway” and “Moneymaker,” the LP arrived to widespread praise from Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, Billboard, and more. The band toured extensively in support of the album, visiting sold-out venues coast-to-coast and abroad. They also delivered high-energy performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America, and brought holiday cheer to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, The Rose Parade, and A Capital Fourth.

Since their inception, Fitz and the Tantrums have delivered hit after hit, including the 4x-Platinum “HandClap,” 3x-Platinum “Out of My League,” Platinum-certified “The Walker,” and Gold-certified “Moneygrabber.” With more new music and a headline tour on the horizon, Fitz and The Tantrums are poised to make this summer unforgettable.

Stay tuned for more from Fitz and The Tantrums soon!

Finnish Psych Folkies Tuomo & Markus Collab w/Jazz Trumpeter for Immersive Instrumental Record

PSYCHEDELIC FINNISH INDIE FOLK BAND TUOMO & MARKUS

AND AWARD-WINNING NORDIC JAZZ ARTIST VERNERI POHJOLA

RELEASE IMMERSIVE INSTRUMENTAL COLLABORATION

MUSIC FOR ROADS

Music For Roads – the collaborative all-instrumental album by Helsinki-based jazz trumpet virtuoso Verneri Pohjola and indie folk band Tuomo & Markus – is out in North America now via Schoolkids Records/Redeye Distribution. The album was released in Finland in February 2025, hitting #5 on the Finnish album chart.

With the haunting, David Lynch-inspired "Deep Deuce" focus track, the musicians confess that their new music was designed for movie screens from the get-go.

“The original working title for the album was Music For Road Movies”, keyboard player Tuomo Prättälä recalls and then jokes: “If our previous album Game Changing was our Breaking Bad, Music For Roads would be our Better Call Saul – a more slow-paced spin-off set in the same universe!”

Cinematic American landscape inspired the soundscape of the new album, which is a unique blend of Nordic jazz, indie folk and psychedelic desert music.

“We love American culture and landscape, but obviously perceive it from a Nordic point-of-view. As much as we drew inspiration from American giants like the Grateful Dead, Gil Evans or Miles Davis, we couldn’t escape our European heritage and Finnish melancholy”, guitarist Markus Nordenstreng ponders.

While Brian Eno composed his ambient classic Music For Airports for air travelers, the Finns created their new compelling instrumentals for the road-tripper stuck at home. The Music For Roads journey began amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which shut down the world and made international touring impossible. In March 2020, Tuomo & Markus were set to start a European tour with Jonathan Wilson, but the tour was obviously scrapped.

“Suddenly, we had a lot of time on our hands, so that’s how this project started. And just when we thought the worst was over, the war in Ukraine broke out, less than 1000 miles away from our hometown. We needed an escape from all the madness. Since it was impossible to make physical road trips to America at the time, we decided to create a virtual one.”

Thematically, Music For Roads could be viewed as a homecoming of sorts for Tuomo & Markus, who’ve had a deep connection to North America since the start of their career. The band recorded their debut album Dead Circles (2018) in Tucson AZ with help from various Calexico and Wilco members. Their critically acclaimed sophomore album Game Changing (2023) was recorded at Jonathan Wilson’s studio in Los Angeles and the late Ed Ackerson’s Flowers Studio in Minneapolis, featuring guests like NYC-guitar legend Marc Ribot who also appears on ‘Music For Roads’.

Verneri Pohjola, meanwhile, is one of Europe’s top jazz artists. Pohjola was recently nominated for Nordic Council Music Prize and his skills far exceed jazz. Multi Grammy-winner, Finnish contemporary music giant Kaija Saariaho, who died in 2023, composed her last piece Hush specifically for Pohjola’s trumpet. Hush had its US debut at LA’s Disney Hall in February 2025 with LA Phil and Pohjola as its guest soloist. Pohjola joined Tuomo & Markus live line-up in 2017, making appearances with the band at events like Solid Sound Festival, SXSW, Rochester International Jazz Festival, and EuroJazz Festival in Mexico City.

“My collaboration with Tuomo & Markus was based on musical inspiration. I have a strong connection to rock music. Melodies and imaginative sounds are close to my heart, and this project has been a great outlet for this part of my musical personality”, Verneri Pohjola says.

Immersive audio technology provided an extra layer for Music For Roads. Before the band started tracking the album, Finnish studio monitor manufacturer Genelec had assembled a state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos rig at the studio.

“We were like mad scientists, and we really didn’t know what the hell we were doing. But as the album process went along, this technology turned out a great source of inspiration. Since most of the performances were cut live with the whole 7-piece band in the same room, the immersive environment really became the most natural way to present this music to the world,” Markus Nordenstreng emphasizes.

Instead of going fully digital, the musicians decided to utilize the studio’s vintage Studer 2” tape machine to process the new music. All the Music For Roads tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered onto tape, making it the world’s first analog Dolby Atmos master recording. For those who still prefer stereo recordings, there will be a limited vinyl and CD release available.

JON KING interview 2025 (Gang of Four)

To Hell with Poverty! A Class Act: Inside the Gang of Four by Jon King (April 1, 2025) documents Jon King’s story from a South London slum and impoverished working-class background to international success as core musician, lyricist, writer, and producer in the legendary postpunk/funk band Gang of Four. The reader is taken on an episodic and kaleidoscopic journey full of adventures from childhood to the end of Gang of Four’s “golden period” in 1984. Thrown off the hit British TV show Top of the Pops; beaten by police at an anti-Nazi rally; being at the heart of the UK postpunk movement in the 1970s; fraternizing with Hells Angels and other “undesirables”; supported by bands like R.E.M. and playing with the likes of the Police and Talking Heads—King’s times with Gang of Four are rich with stories. #TPII51Instagram:   / gangoffourofficial  Book: https://www.akashicbooks.com/catalog/...Merch: https://gangofour.myshopify.com/
