Kid Katana Records and DON’T NOD are proud to announce the release of "The Veil", a nostalgic dream-pop track and accompanying Super 8 music video from former Chromatics members Ruth Radelet, Nat Walker, and Adam Miller. The single is featured on the soundtrack for the narrative adventure game Lost RecordsBloom & Rage from DON'T NOD, creators of the acclaimed Life is Strange series.

Shot entirely on vintage analog equipment including Kodak Super 8 cameras, Canon 518 SV, and Sony Handycam CCD-TR96, the music video creates a dreamy, ethereal aesthetic that perfectly complements the game's themes of nostalgia and time passing. The visually striking piece was directed by Jake Bottiglieri with cinematography by Rayana Rasamee.

This project represents the first collaboration between these former Chromatics members since the band's dissolution, bringing their signature atmospheric sound to a new audience through this gaming collaboration.

"We wanted to create something that captured both the nostalgic 90s aesthetic of the game's flashback sequences and the ethereal, dreamlike quality that fans associate with our music," says Nat Walker, who also served as editor and colorist for the video.

Mark Stewart Shares New Track "Memory Of You" || Announces new Album 'The Fateful Symmetry' Out 7/11 On Mute

MARK STEWART
ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
THE FATEFUL SYMMETRY

OUT 7/11 ON MUTE

LISTEN TO THE FIRST TRACK TO BE SHARED
MEMORY OF YOU

Photo credit: Chiara Meatelli & Dominic Lee

“Mark Stewart is my hero” - Daddy G (Massive Attack)

“A fearsome vocalist & unbelievably exciting frontman to whom I am deeply indebted” - Nick Cave

“Bristol would be a very different place artistically & politically if it had not been for Mark’s influence on all of us” - Geoff Barrow (Portishead)

The groundbreaking, enduringly influential artist Mark Stewart presents his eighth solo album The Fateful Symmetry, a vital new masterwork completed shortly before his untimely passing in April 2023.

Across an illustrious career of pioneering music with The Pop GroupMark Stewart & Maffia and as a solo artist, Stewart has produced a seminal body of work, galvanized by the DIY ideals of punk, radical politics, protest movements, theory, philosophy, technology, art and poetry. With The Fateful Symmetry, Stewart’s abiding legacy as a ‘revered countercultural musician’ (The Guardian) is sustained, with an album as fearless and visionary as his best work.

On first single and album opener “Memory of You,” co-produced with Youth (Killing Joke), and featuring backing vocals by Hollie Cook, Stewart unfurls a propulsive, post-disco torch song, a surging neo-noir of yearning vocals (“I could’ve wrote a love song”) and sleek, imposing synthesis, representing one of Stewart’s most dramatic and affecting performances. As with much of Stewart’s work, conventions and expectations are only here to be subverted: “There’s a way of using a love song as a Trojan Horse, putting sugar on the poison to invade people’s minds. On the surface, it’s about if I’d only loved [but] it’s about longing and dreaming of a better world. For me love is a political act.”

For Youth, “Memory of You’ not only illustrates what a great singer Mark was but what a great writer he was too... the melody and lyrics could be from the Walker Brothers or a 50s crooner like [Frank] Sinatra; timeless yet still ahead of the pack.”

The short film for “Memory of You” has been created by film makers Peter Harris and Hugo Glendinning. Harris began collaborating with Mark Stewart in 2020 when they started their BOMBART show together on Radio Alhara, and they went on to create a series of collaborative artworks and music. Peter Harris is most known for his art collaborations with Lee "Scratch" Perry.

Testifying to Stewart’s prolific, unrelenting ingenuity, and signifying one of his most intimate, empowering statements, The Fateful Symmetry is an astonishingly expressive and innovative record; a fierce and beautiful manifesto for a better world. The inimitable, titanic Mark Stewart, never normalized, always extraordinary.

The Fateful Symmetry will be released on July 11, 2025 via Mute, Stewart’s long-standing label, helmed by old friend and kindred spirit Daniel Miller.

Pre-order The Fateful Symmetry HERE.

The Fateful Symmetry track listing:

1. Memory Of You

RSD exclusive - first time Todd Rundgren live album for Record Store Day 2025

RSD exclusive - first time Todd Rundgren live album for Record Store Day 2025 Los Angeles, California:  Cleopatra Records celebrates Record Store Day, April 12, with one of the most anticipated releases in Todd Rundgren’s catalog, a 2 LP live album recorded on the maestro’s 2008 Arena tour. Titled from his most recent studio album, the tour caught Rundgren accompanied by his usual A-list band of musical wizards, and a track listing that swung between a host of favorites from solo albums past. These include a rare airing for the 1972 single “Couldn’t I Just Tell You,” “Love In Action” (from 1978’s Back To The Bars), “Just One Victory” from the seminal A Wizard, A True Star (1973), the monster hit “I Saw The Light” and more.Alongside these, the album also includes a mammoth recounting of Arena itself. Eleven of the album’s 13 tracks are included, in a solid swathe that picks up at the end of side one, and lasts deep into side four. Pressed on black/white split vinyl and packaged with informative liner notes by Rundgren biographer Paul Myers, The Arena Tour Live is limited to just 1,000 copies worldwide. Track List:LP1 SIDE A1. Love In Action2. Black Maria3. Open My Eyes4. I Saw The Light5. Mad LP1 SIDE B1. Afraid2. Courage3. Weakness4. Pissin LP2 SIDE A1. Strike2. Today3. Bardo4. Mountaintop LP2 SIDE B1. Panic2. Manup3. Jenny Hval: New Single 'The artist is absent' Out Now

Jenny Hval: New Single 'The artist is absent' Out Now

“Music’s most playful deconstructionist.”
– The Guardian

“[Jenny Hval’s] albums always feel like projects in the truest sense…very high concept, sort of theoretical but also existential…it never gets too far from the feeling.” — NPR’s All Songs Considered

“‘To be a rose’ is bright, atmospheric, and rich with personal meaning.”
- Pitchfork [“Best New Track”]

Norwegian musician, artist and novelist Jenny Hval releases “The artist is absent,” the second single/video from her new album, Iris Silver Mist, out May 2nd via 4AD, and announces a September North American Tour. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 4th at 10am local time.

+ Listen and watch 'The artist is absent' +
+ Pre-order Jenny's new album from 4AD on limited pearl 'Northern Light' and standard black vinyl +
+ Pre-order and pre-save on all platforms here

Following the “highly specific and alluringly strange” (New York Times) lead single, “To be a rose,” “The artist is absent” encapsulates this feeling. Hval sings: “A stage without a show / A hazy silhouette around an empty space / A club without a club." Today’s single comes in two versions— an extended mix entitled “89 seconds rewrite” and the original album version. Accompanying “The artist is absent (89 second rewrite)” are visuals directed by director Jenny Merger Myhre and featuring Hval and longtime collaborator Orfee Schuijt.

“We’re dancing to the tiktok
Of the doomsday clock” – Jenny Hval

Named after the fragrance made by the French perfume house Serge Lutens, Hval’s Iris Silver Mist also moves like a scent – between flower and smoke, ghostly yet alive. Iris Silver Mist started with the absence of music; as live music disappeared during the pandemic Hval filled the void with perfume. It was only later she understood why: she was searching for another way to sense presence, to fill the emptiness music had left behind.

When Hval eventually returned to making music, each song was infused with smells. Many songs were created as a mixtape. This continuous flow of ideas was performed as long, shapeshifting pieces – Iris Silver Mist in their unrecorded form – as part of interdisciplinary shows I want to be a Machine. There, Hval and her band were surrounded by rice cookers, filling the songs with the misty smell of rice. Emphasizing the importance of the physical and live elements of music, these songs hold the experience that was lacking in Hval’s life for so long.

BRUIT ≤ share track "Intoxication of Power" w/video recorded in underground construction site. New album out April 25 on Pelagic.

BRUIT ≤- Share new track & video "The Intoxication of Power"
- Album 'The Age of Ephemerality' out April 25th on Pelagic
- European tour with Alcest announced
Still from "The Intoxication of Power" video
Today BRUIT ≤ release a cavernous new track from their forthcoming album, accompanied a truly unique video recorded with a classical ensemble inside a construction site for a metro station. "The Intoxication of Poweris the third piece to be released from their forthcoming  ‘The Age Of Ephemerality’ , due out on 25th of April via Pelagic

The vastness of the band's new album is amped up in a suitably resonant space on the new video for "The Intoxication of Power". Recorded in January, the clip sees the band play on a new metro line being built 100 feet underground in Toulouse, taking a whole team of artists with them.

The band comment: "Like money, technology has become a power-grabbing tool whose effects are increasingly poisonous. This is the Intoxication of power, turning man's future into a mountain of connected hubris. To illustrate this, we shot a live session accompanied by a classical ensemble, 100 feet underground in a construction site in progress. With this atypical choice of location, we wanted to evoke the underground meetings of the French Resistance, opening the door to a counter-culture in the midst of a dystopian atmosphere."

They continue: "For the occasion we brought together a collective of artists active on the Toulouse scene, including video-makers, sound engineers, festival managers and classical musicians: 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 trumpet, 1 french horn, 1 trombone and 1 bass trombone" the band explain. "We used the site crane to lower the music, video and sound equipment."

Watch the video for "The Intoxication of Power" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkhfY7nulAQ
'The Age of Ephemerality' album links: https://orcd.co/bruit

As the ethics of major streaming services and social media outlets come to the fore, BRUIT ≤ prepare for the timely release of their colossal new album. A philosophical, poetic and political reflection on our insatiable fascination with technology, a dependence as reverential as it is increasingly alienating and exploitative, ‘The Age Of Ephemerality is a seismic collision of old and new, of sounds organic and electric, with the trailblazing four-piece capturing the resultant symphony in all its chaotic, confrontational glory.

A cautionary sonic exploration of society’s deference to the algorithm;  ‘The Age Of Ephemerality’  will not be available on major international streaming platforms. Much like the rest of the band’s discography, the album reinforces the collective’s staunch boycott of Spotify; a response to the platform’s consistently diminishing artist payout policies as well as billionaire CEO Daniel Ek’s recent investment in the arms trade. Written in the mountains and recorded in a church, the album is BRUIT ≤ experimenting with capturing the sound of physical space as if it were an instrument in its own right; as something that can never be artificially generated or digitally replicated.

Just as BRUIT ≤ seek to expose how desperate things have become,  ‘The Age of Ephemerality’  serves as a harrowing yet profound reminder that the only way to break algorithmic malaise and see real change is to resist, to do it ourselves.

BRUIT ≤ are:
Théophile Antolinos - Guitars, Banjo, Tapes, Soundscapes
Clément Libes - Bass, Baritone Guitars, Bass VI, Violin, Viola, Organ, Piano, Modular Synth, Programming
Luc Blanchot - Cello, Programming, Synth
Julien Aoufi - Drums
