Psychologist/author (psycho author) Jennifer Lane invites you to her world of sports romance and suspense with a psychological twist!

Jen fell in love with sports at a young age and competed in swimming and volleyball in college. She went on to become the Honda Award Winner for Division III Athlete of the Year. She still gets high from the smell of chlorine and the satisfaction of smashing a beautiful volleyball set.

In Jen’s upcoming tenth novel, Low Water, a swim coach and his psychologist team up to heal from trauma. Rivals features a romance between coaches from rival universities, Ohio State and Michigan. Her Blocked trilogy also explores the transformation from hate to love. One of Jen’s favorite themes is finding common ground.

Besides my continued fascination with sports, coming of age, and family dynamics, my unique inspiration is the racial divide in the US. We are more polarized when it comes to politics and race than we have been in some time, and I'm intrigued by how those differences play out in romance. The freedom of speech to express our strong opinions is a strength of America, as is the ability to find common ground despite divergent views.

Also, on a less serious note, I have always been drawn to tall, dark men, and hero Alejandro Ramirez definitely fits the bill. ;-)(less)

This limited author time means that writer's block rarely occurs for me because I'm typically excited to get back to my characters. However, it's not like the words easily flow. I often need to remind myself just to keep typing and I will edit later. "You can't edit a blank page."(less)

Martha the Competent and Brave

The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon
“You think it will break your heart to have a child who suffers in this way. One who is seen as damaged. You think, perhaps, that it is your fault somehow. That if only you’d done something different, taken better care of him, this would have never happened. And then he asks you to dance on a cold January evening, and you realize that perhaps you are a fool. And whatever his life may be now—different than you’d imagined all those years ago when he grew in your womb and curled into the hand you set upon your stomach—he is perfect.”

“One of the greatest skills that I have as a midwife is to sit in silence. I cannot count the number of times that I have wordlessly held a hand as grief explodes in a room. The only antidote to this kind of despair is to create a bulwark of immovable calm. To sit and be. To pray and offer comfort. To watch the shadows cut tracks along the wall as the sun slowly moves across the sky. To say nothing when there are no words that can console.”
