No, you won't lose the GIFs if you go to your review, copy everything and paste it on the Tumblr text post (not in the HTML section, though). And yes, you can only have followers.Okay, I'm going to add you in my contacts. :)

UUUUGH. Ridiculous. As soon as the mass migration slows down a little, I'm also going to export all my stuff over to BookLikes. It seems pretty cool over there.
Lady Danielle wrote: "I know, they've been deleting a lot of my positive reviews (3, 4, and 5 stars) gushing about the book. GoodReads isn't making any sense: they say they're going to delete shelves/reviews writing negatively about the author; yet they're deleting positive reviews? I'm really confused.I'm leaving GR in a bit. I can't take this bullshit anymore. I'm getting more and more pissed off as I'm finding my reviews (positive ones) that were deleted."
O...M...G. I'm so sorry but at this point, I can't do anything but laugh like a lunatic.
Damn, Lady D, I hope that you at least had taken step to export your GR stuff to a .csv file. :(
@Nenia My words exactly.@Rose Nope. Zero. They've been deleting a lot of my positive reviews without giving me a reason, too.
@L.M. I'm posting my reviews one by one at BookLikes, it does seem pretty cool. I like it. :P
@KarmaBites It is kind of funny. I saved a .csv file, but I became too impatient to wait 2099 hours for all of my books to be exported -- I'm posting my reviews one by one from my Tumblr book blog.
That is so shitty. I've got a 5 star review of Days of Blood and Starlight that literally only says "Laini Taylor is a cruel and wonderful person." with a whole lotta gushing in the updates. Right now I'm just sitting on my hands waiting for them to delete it. If they do, I'm outa here.

I wonder if they've got a less-than-intelligent script running in the background looking for specific words? I really can't think of any other reason why reviews like that would be deleted.I normally don't "like" updates with gifs in them, but I will this time so my friends/followers see this ridiculousness.
Did you have anything that was saying how fantastic JK Rowling was? ie author behavior? Because maybe they are deleting EVERYTHING that has to do with author behavior. Good and bad.
Holy fuck!!! Harry potter 5-stars by YOU deleted??!!! It's beyond words, but tells me so much. Goodreads is now a Zombie land, No other explanation.
WTF? so how did you find out? do they send you a message, I wouldn't even notice if they deleted a review of mine i think.
Hanne wrote: "WTF? so how did you find out? do they send you a message, I wouldn't even notice if they deleted a review of mine i think."I would also like to know.
Just a quick reminder for anyone worried about losing anything here, go to the import page and look on the right-hand side for Export Your Books and (depending on how many books you have shelved) you'll have one or two CSV files to download. Just make sure you don't click Remove All Books!!! The link for that is scarily close.Once you have the CSV file(s) you can then import your stuff onto various sites, or just peruse it on your computer. It'll export everything - ratings, reviews, shelves, ISBNs, etc.
Also good to note, perhaps in a notepad file or something, the amount of books, reviews, and shelves (a full page of shelves is 100) that you have, just in case you're wondering if something's gone missing.

If it's anything like the others, then no. No warning. Goodreads just do it. It's part of what some of us are extremely angry about.

Yep that was after the fact. Not before. They got the email telling them that it had already been done.

I know :( I've already saved mine and exporting to Booklikes as we speak. My faith's been shaken in Goodreads. I don't think I trust anything they say anymore, because all I'm thinking is what's next? Because you just know something else will happen.

Deleting 5-star HP reviews without warning or notification.Stick a fork in it, it's over.
GR has officially jumped the shark....
What was the shelf name? If they remove the shelf, then the reviews under it can be removed. Not that that's right or anything, but wondering if that is the reason.
I haven't been affected by deletions (as far as I know) but thanks for the warning, I downloaded a csv just in case. And now I know about BookLikes... I am not leaving GR until I have to because I've made so many friends here, but who knows what might happen under the new management? And I would love a really active booksite with a decent iOS app. I'm sick of the clunky GR one.
But this sounds like a bug: if you haven't received any mail, this isn't following the same path of the other deletions.Surely your reviews weren't just "J.K. Rowling is awesome!", right?
Holy crap! Anyways, I'm following you in BookLikes...LOL at you importing your books one by one...I'll do the same.BTW...BookLikes has half stars!
Why on earth would they delete any review negative or positive? I thought the reason GR was created was to give readers a medium to discuss books and express their honest opinions...silly me I guess :S
How is this legal? What about freedom of speech? I didn't even know that this censorship was going on! Thanks for shedding light on this issue. I am horrified. How can you not have the right to write negative reviews on a website DEDICATED TO EXPLORING BOOKS?!
Ok this is very sad, funny in a pathetic sort of way as well. They deleted your 5 star Harry Potter reviews, however, my 1 star ratings (and I realize I risk the wrath of many here) for the Twilight series are still there no probs, I never reviewed these books because I figured that if I gave then a 1 star rating that pretty much said it all. I guess this is what happens when censorship takes over, it's kind of like a feeding frenzy the sharks start eating and don't really pay attention to what they're attacking next thing you know they'll be going for their own throats because right now it looks like they've cut off their noses to spite their faces. I believe the appropriate phrasing here everyone is "WELCOME TO THE CLUSTERFUCK!"
How could this happen? Why would anyone want to delete positive Harry Potter reviews? This is ridiculous and weird.
Sketchbook wrote: "Email GR and ask abt the delete. It may have been an accident or "bug.""I'm not following the mammoth announcement thread anymore, but was this status mentioned? I JUST checked back in on that thread a minute ago to see whether a staff member had responded, and I thought I saw some reference to "Lady Danielle's deletions," or something like that.
I agree with you, Sketchbook; I can't imagine it's anything but a bug/mistake. I wonder whether GR is using some kind of program that automatically deletes things based on a formula (number of flags, for instance--although I don't know how 5-stars of HP books would get flags, but whatever) rather than having someone with an actual brain in their head judge these things on a case-by-case basis.
Thanks, Alethea. Well, at least they saw the light on that one. It's small comfortNevermind. I saw they aren't going to return the deleted reviews. WTF. I can't be on this computer anymore. Need to just log off for my sanity.
