This does not work as a standalone book. And I do not recall all the details of the previous books, so I will abandon this one.

This is the true old style fantasy that made the genre great. I never read it back when I was a kid but I would have loved this book as a young teen.

For now though it's really an enjoyable quest Fantasy.

It's just a massive spawning story following a gamily through the early 2oth century.

Little weird that the main character, Nick, surrounds himself by super sexy, powerful women. It does feel a bit like a harem-story almost. Not much. But it's at the edges if the story.

It starts out almost like it's in the middle of a story.... But I think that might be one of its strengths. Right into it. And it's fairly enjoyable, even with the overacting.Narrators, a little bit, but it's still okay

Buehlman is a genius writer. He can communicate a paragraph in a new sentence. Idk how else to describe it. But he has a way of turning a subject.

Oh my gosh neat! One of the best characters, Thomas, a warrior monk lol... he is written as gay. I like him even more now.

Godwin is a great antagonist. Believable and despicable.

Finally passed the halfway mark.And it feels like most of the things that should happen have happened.... So, I'm curious what the next 19. And a half hours of audiobook, will I have...
