It's been a long time since I read a book set in India and this cover caught my eye! And the main character working at a museum sounds intriguing. Hopefully it is.

The phrase "be careful what you wish for because you might get it" comes to mind just now. Because of of these main characters has been wishing for a very particular thing and now she will get it. And it's not going to be good...

I am actually enjoying this book a lot! The story is interesting in both time lines (which is rare for me) plus I can identify with the main character Joan. Other people often don't understand her and I have that problem too. Plus she is very honest and never has done any "bad" thing - a "goody two shoes" if you will. Can relate to that too.

Personally I'd say if you can calm down that totally wild horse and that horse knows you, that's proof it's yours. Because no wild horse is going to let some stranger near it. This may be the Phantom, but it's like the Black. Only Alec could ride the Black.

Am I psychic or what?? I just had this feeling that something was going to happen and by golly it did!! How the heck I knew that I have no idea!!

I just had a sudden revelation of one thing that will probably happen at the end of the book (besides the obvious couple of course)... I am definitely enjoying this. It's light and fluffy and relaxing to read.

This is the horse book I took with me up and back to the ranch today. Really enjoying it so far. It's quite the modern western with Sam and her father moving cattle across huge pieces of land and she hopes to find her horse Blackie again (who had run away two years ago).

Well who would have guessed that the cute guy from the store is the mysterious Charlie! And he has that famous yellow boat too.

I have to admit so far this book is actually very relaxing to read.

I have to admit I am a tad confused here. They leave Toronto to spend time at a lake, Barry's Bay. But Toronto is on Lake Ontario which is a HUGE lake. Like why drive three hours to some tiny lake when you got a giant one right there?? And I presume that Lake Ontario is like Lake Michigan that is here where I live. Gotta love a Great Lakes lake. 😊

It's kind of crazy that this old vintage ad for Coca Cola claims that drinking their soda is "beneficial"!! Poor Wiley is having the hardest time trying to deal with these food companies.

I have already made some progress on this one and it's scandalous how those companies were cheating with food! Of course they do that today too which is why I am reading this. I see so many unnecessary "fillers" added to things that shouldn't even have them, like a simple spice mix. Makes it near impossible to eat anything.

This book is serving nicely aside the Abraham Lincoln book I read some months ago. It's filling in the gaps of what is going on in the country just before the Civil War. Like I didn't know there was trouble with the Mormons back then... It's good to fill in gaps of knowledge.

So far this is very readable yet also dense with information. It talks about the Mexican -American War and the various problems they had with mules, wagons and horses. The chapter ends with an exciting story about a mule that fell off of Popocatepetl and lived to reclaim the volcano with its load of barley! This certainly is a refresher course in history !!

It seems that poor Willa has to make a hard decision...

I really don't understand why these magical plant creatures who can camouflage and live in a cave - they are some type of nature spirits I think - why they need human money. It makes no sense. What use is money to them? I can't imagine their leader who is covered in porcupine quills going into a store to spend the money.

I am definitely enjoying this one. And I believe that Willa is growing as a character as she starts to realize certain things, that things are not the way they seem. So I am expecting some big changes by the end of the book. I will see what happens...

Imagine a 70 year old man hiking in the middle of nowhere Alaska! He must be really healthy! I don't think many people that age can make that claim or do that. This is some rough terrain they are going through.

Now they are being chased by a grizzly bear!

Now this should be very interesting! The author has to take care of some reindeer while their owner, Kanji, is away. But he doesn't know anything about being near large animals. I suspect I will find this section very intriguing as I can hopefully compare these reindeer to the horses I know.

Sitting outside in the sun and reading about the author hiking in the most wild areas of Alaska: wolves and bears, tussocks, searching for tree seedlings to see if the forests are expanding... And how you can't see a thing if you don't know what you are looking at.

So far this seems to be a biography of Hitler, saying who he was as a person and what things had influenced him (music, going to the opera, etc). I actually find this old book interesting as I never actually read or knew anything about Hitler (except that he was the Nazis leader, etc) so some of the stuff in here is surprising! But this is very readable.

This book is leaving me with so many unanswered questions it's not funny at all. I feel lots of information is missing... Something is stated in a paragraph, maybe in a quote, but then it's left hanging and I am left confused. Like why didn't the NYRA like Dr Harthill? Why did he need escorts to and from the barn? And there are things like this throughout the book.

I am not much impressed with this book yet as it's rather dry and just a bunch of facts..

So this book is about a very specific type of plane that was originally built back in the 1950s. It's a very well known plane name (and I am avoiding using the name because of spoilers). But it's a name that almost everyone knows. So I just looked this plane up to see what it looks like and wow, an odd looking plane - especially from the side view. And it's BIG!

I think the tempo of the plot is finally starting to take off. Because so far this thriller is not very thrilling....

Well this book certainly has taken the most unexpected turn!

So the problems with her boyfriend had started because he wanted a golden retriever and she didn't....

I am most curious to start part 2 of this book, which will explain what is going on inside the brain!

I absolutely love this! It's so unique and fun. What makes this book so special is the photos! I like looking at all the stuff in the background and see what the characters are wearing too. Glad I found this at the library the other day!

Things are getting more serious!
