Sarah B is on page 128 of 528 of The Silence of the White City (Trilogy of the White City, #1)
I am enjoying this book so far but it's way too early to make any guesses about the killer. I don't think I have ever read a book set in Spain before so that part is totally new. The festival set in April where they eat snails - that was very surprising! Snails!!

This is a reprint from 1942. The bottom of the first page says to buy War Savings Bonds!! But poor Donald Duck and his nephews already have problems with Black Pete!

I really don't see how they can fix anything in here as both sides want the opposite things. It would take some miracle! And while Willa has some magic I don't know what she can do about this mess. Humans will be humans...

I am enjoying this sequel to Willa of the Wood. And this one is telling the story from two very different viewpoints, Willa's and the humans. But there is some mysterious dark things prowling the woods that even Willa doesn't recognize! And the baby bear in here is so cute!

This story is so complex and captivating. All of these different problems that Josie has. I just can't see how any of this will end. Will Josie get any of the things she wants - like to volunteer at the vet's office to get experience working with animals? Or will she just be stuck forever babysitting her 15-year-old disabled brother??

Now this was very shocking!! Abe just ate an entire package of FROZEN hot dogs from the freezer!! How in the world he could even chew that is beyond me! But this story is so engaging because Abe is constantly getting into all sorts of stuff. His poor sister has to really stay on her toes with him around and yet she has to try to keep Zuzu the lizard a secret!

There is already a lot of action in here! I believe this will be a fast read. They are heading from Texas to Oklahoma and there are some nasty scoundrels with guns on the road.

So I have read this a few times before many years ago but I am rereading this now. It's been long enough that I really don't remember much about the story / plot which means I can enjoy it like a "new" book. I do remember I had loved this series.

This is very readable. The author is recounting his many adventures while serving in the calvary. There are Indian attacks as well as explanations of how they dealt with days of boredom while living at the fort (ants were one form of entertainment).

I now have several ideas about the missing horse. This book is definitely littered with lots of clues. The question is which clues point towards the truth and which are the red herrings? And is Wills going to get caught breaking camp rules?

Enjoying this but I'm not too sure about this Forsaken Forest - it almost sounds like it's in the middle of their horse camp.. which is just odd sounding?

I realized the printed text in "On the Border with Crook" is small so would be hard to read in a bouncy car on the way to the ranch so will read this in the car. And the story is off to an exciting start with searching for a list horse at night with a thunderstorm approaching! Riding at night with a flashlight!

Lots of great descriptions in here, both of the land (plants + animals included) and of the bronco training. Also of the quarters the author was staying in. I learned a new word: kalsomining. Which means whitewashing. So far this book is off to a great start!

Back when I had read that book about mules in the US Army, this book had been mentioned. And I had wanted to read it because Crook had been the man who had taken good care of the mules under his command. And so I am going to read this. And tomorrow is ranch day! I will go see my horses!

Still reading this. And the suspects keep changing and the cops seem rather clueless. But who is the killer and why? Maybe I'll come up with some ideas as I sleep during the night??

This is a truly amazing murder mystery. I have no idea yet who the killer is or why. But this is sure painting the reservation as a dangerous location. You can sense the danger in the air like a thick fog. And it could be anyone. But who?? And why?? And will someone else die too?

The beginning of this book reminds me of the powwow at Indian festival: the dancing, the fry bread, the music... The story is off to a good start.

This husband of hers is utterly horrible. Here she is trying to educate herself and learns new skills and what does he say?
"Why you want to learn something so useless is beyond me".
I was already having many issues with this book but this is just too much!

Now there are werewolves in here!
But the majority of this book is domestic scenes where Maxi feels useless and unsure and she wasn't taught the things she needs to know.

I am reading this fast but there isn't much character development much at all. The first one hundred pages seem to be them traveling and she is constantly saying she's sorry. The story is not very engaging at all. I feel at the moment the best thing about this book is the pretty cover!

All the weird stuff in here is so interesting! I am most definitely reading stories in here I never knew before. Like the fact the Church doesn't believe in the Holy Grail! And I certainly never heard of the Spear of Destiny before either. Or this opera called Parsifal.

So I am reading this again. Going to try to finish it today. It's now talking about the holy lance that has stabbed Jesus in his side and how Hitler had apparently got fascinated by this lance (or A lance) that was in a museum. This book is very easy to read.

So I started reading this today and the stuff in this book about human behavior is utterly shocking. And disturbing. I had no idea that people were doing this stuff in Europe back then. Yes, I knew about the grave robbers and public executions but doing an autopsy as public entertainment?? And holding up the parts for the live audience to view?? Disgusting!
