The second book in the series, the writing is as tight as a drum and the numerous characters and subplots have all been easy to follow and are compelling as all hell. Really enjoying this one, and I think Thomas Pluck as grown a lot as a writer since the first book. Must admit, I'm ready for Jay to start throwing hands.

Absolutely adoring this eco-horror. Love how the plot slowly unfolds and you can see what's coming but still aren't prepared. Awesome addition to the PBFH line.

I've both read and listened to Doctor Sleep since the last time I read the Shining, and I have to say I clearly prefer Doctor Sleep. There are some classic elements to The Shining, but I feel like there's too much time spent on the internal monologues and not enough time spent watching the characters in their haunted environment. Not to mention, Jack Torrance just seems so damn academic and stuffy. Narration is A+

This collection is kicking ass and taking names.
Lay Low by Ed Kurtz - a delightful western that made me squirm
Crepuscular by Hailey Piper - sometimes I think of Joe Hill's story, "Best New Horror", and un-ironically consider if a story may fit some new mold of horror. This story is definitely a candidate - deep thoughts and hideous horror rocked me on this one
Hungry by Lenn Woolston - creeptastic creature feature

This just gets better and better. Trying to savor it, but the story is propulsive.

Good gravy, this is some awesome shit right here. All sorts of 'Salems Lot vibes with very specific Malermaniac under and overtones. Had a good feeling about this from the first time I saw that cover, and rightfully stoked so far.
