So far so great. These are the kind of stories you'll find yourself thinking about years after reading.

So far this is not my favorite William Gay novel. It's still engrossing and well-written; I just don't have a grasp on these characters as much as in The Long Home or Provinces of night. Still a well-paced and highly readable novel so far.

Matheson delivers visceral thrills, intellectual stimulation, and an original scientific explanation of vampirism and its subsequent mythology. I can't imagine reading this book and being so inspired that I would make a movie and then change almost everything. Hollywood dorks!

This is my second time reading this book. It's my personal favorite as far as vampire stories go. I how Matheson conveys the feelings of isolation and the thought process the character goes through and the scientific study he completes. I'm wasn't planning on reading this again yet, but was instantly so into the story after taking a glance I had no choice.

Lots of action and thought-provoking dialogue.

So far I'm impressed. Reminds me of a collection of Rod Serling stories/concepts I once read. My first John Wyndham book.
