Although this book is presented as a short story collection, it's more of a fictional essay collection. I got hung up on that the first time I read this book. I'm doing a reread in honor of Memorial day, and I'm enjoying the book much more this time around. This book is full of strong images and precise capture of emotions - civilians be thankful.
