Oh god, not another long random story section. This is like the Wall of Kosh in book one. I HATE storytelling parts. Let me live it, I don't need your quirky folksy wisdom...

The writing! It's so awkward it's painful. Serious physical pain in my eyes and brain. I feel like someone punched a keyboard and just printed out the results...

It's Hatchet--for girls! Seriously, it's a survival story with a lot of survivaly action. Like Hatchet. But with Lynn instead of Brian.

"We just want to be able to kick ass, right?" "Well, definitely don't phrase it that way! We'd probably just become highly skilled at kicking people in the ass. Don't turn your back in them," she intoned. "They never miss." Lmao. My unkicked ass, that is. I love Mik and Zuzana--my favorite characters by far.

This book has some significant Sherlock and Doctor Who references. Not big ones, but little hints of a Wholock author... :)

"There is the past, and there is the future. The present is never more than a single second dividing one from the other. We live poised on that second as it's hurtling forward--towards what?" Wow. Just wow.

"There was a pert civility about Gabriel that suggested a better-than-fair chance of bow ties in his future. Maybe even a monocle." Can't you just picture him? This is how you show, don't tell. Other authors take note.

This book could be so much better without the poems.

Why does she keep repeating things? I know who Anna is. I know what strafstehen is. I know the girls are called rabbits. Why does this need rehashed 6 times?! This book could be 30 pages shorter if she didn't think her readers were apparently idiots with no memory retention.

And that answer is? Because goodreads has the pagination wrong.

So....how rushed is this ending going to be? There's thirty pages left but about 50-60 Pgs of content...

Dear god, cut with the freakin melodrama!!! Makes me want to vomit. I swear I'm one "I'd be lost without you!" away from contracting diabetes.

Rock climbing in an Abbey Road shirt earlier and now this scene? That's some heavy-handed foreshadowing there.

Really? We're going that route? Is this a soap opera? Thinking maybe this angle is a bit old hat. And yes, I'm being vague bc it's a spoiler which angle I'm referring to.

God this book is dull. Why would you create this epic Titanic of a ship, crash it in the first chapter, and then force me to read about two awkward teenagers and their awkwardness for a ridiculous 300+ pages? Couldn't I have seen more of the glamour of the Icarus first? At least for a few minutes?

You know how many snobby helpless rich bitches it takes to ruin a book? One. You know how many this one has? One. And she's a narrator. She had better get her head out of her butt soon or I'm going to start swearing.

50 Pgs in and I already have insta-love, insta-bitchy and a catastrophic event. These authors move fast.

TARVER? That's not even a NAME!!! And if it does qualify as a namd, it's one of the damn stupidest names I've ever heard. Please never name your child frickin Tarver. He will hate you.

Malarkey? Chowderhead? Are these kids in the 21st century or 1921? Seriously, it's killing me.

Okay, these kids talk like they're 50 yrs old. I've never heard a teen use the word "hoosegow", nor do they say "rear end." And there are a dozen plus more instances of really off terminology that makes the characters unrealistic.

*shining beams of light from the heavens* A summary of the last book! Oh great and glorious concept that, albeit awkwardly disconnected from the plot line, allows avid readers to remember what the hell happened in a book that was read over 100 books ago! Thank you, Mr. Frost! And take note, other authors.

That is the most horrifying thing I've ever read, mostly because I'm pretty claustrophobic. Not a spoiler: imagine being so afraid of a corpse reanimating that you'd bury them face down so, in case they do try to dig out, it's just deeper into the earth. *shiver* just reading that made my pulse race and gave me sweaty palms. Horrible.

Hoping to god Juliette just made the choice I think she did, because if so, I might be the happiest woman alive. Seriously, fingers crossed.

Shenanigans, Melissa. If you want to use a super common name (john, Jacob, Elizabeth) go right ahead. If you want to use awesome Irish names I give you a hearty "please do!" But don't take an unusual name from an incredibly popular series! Why Jayce? Sorry, but Cassie Clare got there first. He could have been, I don't know, Carrick. Or Eoin. Or Finn. Something cool and Gaelic.

Okay, so we go from repetitive Greek history that has been discussed twice in previous chapters to "killing the Native Americans with greater efficiency" and "noting how much depleting the numbers of native citizens helps when you want to kill the remainder through military force." Hooray for latent, and in some ways blatant, racism!

Holy anachronism, Batman! According to the OED, "s**tty" wasn't used as an adjective until 1924. Before that, it was "sh**ten". Henry would not have described a betrayal as "sh**ty". In such a well researched book, that mistake sticks out like a sore thumb.
