painfully overwritten and unfunny with a modicum of creativity, I'm gonna finish this doorstop of a book out of sheer malice

there are all sorts of quirky little cutesy stories and unnecessary little descriptions and verbal ticks that are kind of driving me insane. Additionally, one dimensional characters do not become three dimensional using this kind of narrative technique.

okay after part 2 or 3 she kind of lets up on the serious jargon and now is talking more about art and literature which I can fully grasp. she writes like an absolute phenom though stringing together words like pearls, which makes the experience wholly worth it. if only my idealized version of myself stuck with french back in school instead of latin I'd enjoy the work more. oh well

this is very advanced material for me because while I feel like I am piecing some meaning together I am getting nothing out of it. Kind of like jumping into an F1 racer after mastering go karts

turns out it is hard to get reading done when you move across the country

Okay ending my horror binge with one of the older classics then I think I can stop indulging the darker part of my psyche for a while

everything's spookier in Alaska, except for maybe my imaginary show "Ice Road Vampires" which is kind of like 28 Days of Night but instead of devouring humans, the vampires strain their rigs and themselves to deliver large unwieldy machinery to frigid northern outposts. Airs Mon, 9 p.m. on TLC

I was wrong about Klein so Langan gets a chance to show me a move with this novel

I love the idea that an ancient force lies in wait to destroy the modern world in a rustic farm about 50 miles from NYC. Also good sinister villain reminds me of Master Billy Quizboy

A much less competent protagonist examines the social more themes brought up in The Floating Opera through a different perspective. Interesting, but hasn't charmed fully

This guy is so full of himself, turning down awards here, telling off sloots there, saying how Michaelangelo bowed down to him, was friends with the pope, it's almost too much

if the plot made any sense at all, the satire that is here about systems both administrative and social would be much more charming. I am afraid it's just an overwritten mess so far

I find the artistry parts pretty dull but then I get something like this -

"...he had a punk of his there, and was going on with his stupid ribaldries to amuse her. When I met him, I asked if he was the rash fellow who was speaking evil of the Florentines. He answered at once, "I am that man." On this, I raised my hand, struck him in the face, and said; "And I am this man.""

The initial pdf version I found of this had teeny tiny print which greatly hampered my progress but I found a new version. It's off to a very slow start, but I'm gonna stick with it for now

I thought I'd give myself a small break from philosophy and ended up reading this for three hours straight. I don't even know Cash besides his hits, but this had me on an emotional roller coaster and I can't wait to finish it.

ooooo now I see why I despised the ontology so much in other works, because some of it doesn't make any fucking sense. are you telling me these old men made some of this stuff up?

finished Metaphysics L1, the first of two lectures I need to read to beat this level. I am now really itching to read Kant himself, and not just lecture notes

I think they key to reading through some of this stuff is if you can't grasp it the second time around just move on

WIlleford is always interesting to read when he discusses his views on subjects and this is not exception as he turns his mind to art criticism

well now I just feel stupid for not reading Petrarch so guess what's coming next
