You know what’s fun? Reading a Lost Gen author’s ideas on gender politics from the POV of 50,000 years in the future. “Male soldiers leads to sexual aggression which leads to homosexuality which is BAD for the perpetuation of humanity! This is why we need women-only armies!!” says a 3500 year old quasi-deity far in the future with the accumulated knowledge of all human history.

OH BOY! I've read nothing but bad things about this book but my morbid curiosity won out and I was able to get a copy for free. I'm expecting a major garbage fire and I am P U M P E D.

James Marsters (a favorite actor of mine) narrates this audiobook and he sounds as put out reading it as I do... but the mystery & world-building are actually kind of engaging, and it's an incredibly fast read.

This book is such misogynistic garbage but I received it as a Xmas gift from a close friend and at this point the mystery is interesting enough to keep brute forcing my way through.

I'm disappointed in Hank for calling the puzzle-solvers in this book "the dreamer community." I'd be shocked if Hank didn't know the name already belongs to undocumented youths in the US, so (at my own risk of speaking out of line as an ally) the audacity of a middle-aged white dude using the name for what virtually amounts to a fictional reddit community--even one built on global interconnectedness--seems wrong.

I like how Hank made the president of the US a woman, because 1) it establishes this world as a separate one from our reality, thereby allowing anything improbable to be possible, but 2) imagine trying to have an Arrival-esque story with Doland Turnip as president.
