Not going to lie, the stuff happening with Zane gives me so much anxiety and also I absolutely hate that it could have been avoided if Maddy had included a brief note of instruction for Tally. GAH

I both want to read this super fast and devour the story and also take it slow and savor it. I think this is going to be a story I’ll revisit again and again.

I believe the most important goal we can set for ourselves is to enjoy what we do every day—or as often as possible. The acts of creation. Daydreaming. Brainstorming. Figuring out tricky plot twists. Getting to know interesting characters. Making ourselves laugh and cry or even gasp when the story takes a turn we weren’t expecting.

The details in this are so lovely. But every time I read about Gulliver the baby seagull I think of Animal Crossing 🤣

I might as well reread the whole series (via audio) at this point. Then maybe I'll actually read the sequel series XD

As much as I enjoy everything about this book, I wish Valentino was involved more. If Gabi or Lia had been taken to Firenze, nothing would have stopped Marcello or Luca for being there. Yeah I get the guy is seen as a traitor and would be tortured if caught but I wish there was more explanation of why he wasn’t taking any action.

Do I know Lisa will give this book a happy ending? Yes, of course. And I still worried about ALL the characters and everything that is happening? YES! Because I am SCARED of what else she might do!

Rereading for a book club, and I'm excited to introduce this book to teens!

In short, “believing that” is not “believing in.” Many “believe that,” but far fewer “believe in.”

I don't know how I feel about Haymitch getting help from previous victors BEFEORE entering the Arena. It would cheapen his discovery about the arena and the way he wins if someone gave him inside information and take away his cleverness.
