The January Platoon are a new concept the soldiers, both male and female are all clones 'born' on the same day. According to the hour and minute they were 'born' they are allocated a place in the heirarchy. Trained to undertake a specific role. There is no cross training so there is potential for a problem.

Written in a distinctive style the book follows two, what appear to be separate cases. In the Sheriff's office the Deputy Danny is tracking down a vicous killer. In LA itself a witch hunt is started for commies in the entertainment industry.

So many different cases. Even more confusing than previous books. But still enjoying this series, so far it has not lost its edge. Keep up the good work JP

The two lead characters Blanchard and Bleichert are not two of the most appealling. The link between the two is well developed and the case which is central to the story is gruesome. The details of the mutilation of the body is graphic.

Half way through the story, really good. Three corpses found all preserved in different ways. One corpse Madam X identified as a student who went missing 25 years previously.
First of the series I have read featuring both Rizzoli and Isles. Both different to characters on TV.

Still enjoying the story. The developing relationship between Princess Irys and her Lieuteant is interestin. Also the way you see Prince Daivin being given a chance to be a boy before he is forced into becoming ruler.
The insight into the machinations in Zion and the Temple are also good. Group of Four more like Group of One with 3 puppets.

The war in Siddermark is as vicious and unforgiving as the war on the Eastern Front in World War 2. The story does not just look at the fighting but develop the different characters, specifically Princess Irys who at the end of the previous book was rexscued from certain death at the hands of temple Loyalists.

Just getting started this is a dense book and a detailed story. The war between the Church in Waiting, the bad guys and Charis continues. Up to now the war has mainly been at sea, but now the opportunity exists for Charis to take the war on land. The Churches atrocities in Siddarmark give Charis a chance. Cannot wait to see how it all develops.

Have previously read the e-edition but you get the added bonus of a new story from Eric Flint in the paperback version. In this volume the story is entitled The Masque and is set around a Masque being organised by Ben Jonson in Holland. The Masque is interruopted by assasion hired by Charles ! to rid him of those he considers a threat having read the future histories. The other stories are of a similar high standard.

Many of you will be asking who is Jeff Stelling? He is a well known sports presenter who fronts the 6 hours of mayhem known as Soccer Saturday. A panel of four ex and famous football players watch games on monitors and describe the action to a large audience. They can see the action but not the audience. It works because the Panelist jell together and it is all pulled together by Jeff Stelling, the anchorman.
