The beginning of the book was good, plenty of action but after the initial battle was won, the details of the politics during the period of peace began to drag. Although they form an integral part of the story. Action is now back on the agenda and I am enjoying the story more.

The story starts where the previous story finished with the invasion of Balboa. In the first chapters The tercio is virtually wiped out. The nect chapters introduce you to the main characters as they join the legion and comlete their training. Looking forward to the second half of the book. Can't wait to see where the author takes the story.

Written in the usual frantic pace. no chance to draw breath. The action is non stop and outrageous. Just let yourself escape from your everyday existence, suspend all belief and enjoy

Page 309 - Contrary to expectations I am finding it difficult to put this book down. As a chronicle of Ala Sugar's life covering his successes and failures the book grips you. Would recommned this book to anyone who likes a success story, a rags to riches story, of one mans success.

Dr Sam Gaddis is not your usual everyday hero, but he manages to get himself out of trouble quite well. His love life is complicated, although he starts a relationship at the beginning of the book it does not stop him straying when the MI 5 agebnt flirts with him. A good read, reminisent of John le carre at his best. Highly recommended.

Reacher in good form as always. Interesting to have some background to the character. He's just finished his dinner with Sherrif Devereaux, can't wait till they get back to the hotel.

This is the second book by Dreda Say Mitchell I have read and I am stil finding it difficult to relate to the main character Schoolboy, in Running Hat. The descriptions of the scene in Hackney and the gangsta culture is interesting but to a middle-aged white man the characters just grate. Will not be reading any more of Dreda's books.
