I just got to the chapter that focuses on COVID and remote learning.

This book is so true to my experiences that it is almost painful to read.

Oh, my! It’s only September (in the book, which is organized by month as it follows three teachers over the course of a school year), but already these teachers are suffering. It’s going to be a long year, I can tell.

I got a little teary, just reading the prologue. I guess I do miss the classroom more than I thought.

Enjoying this mystery, but pretty sure the author doesn’t live in Marin County.

Reading about Oklahoma City now. I missed a lot when I lived there!

This is a very difficult read; the author, honestly, seems all over the place. I had hoped for an anecdotally-based book, but I am reading a statistics text.

I laughed out loud on page 243 when I read a character, saying, “your meddling made this more complicated than it should’ve been.“ Sounds like some thing that a bad guy would’ve said to Scooby Doo: “you meddling kids!”

Surprisingly, this book isn’t up to the standards I’m used to in Ms. Hillerman‘s writing. It didn’t start with a bang, and the “hidden secret“ between Bernie and Chee is making reading the text very awkward.

I was very sorry to read in the dedication that the authors brother had died at such a young age.
