The story did finally get interesting, but the world-building is still lacking. Worse though, there are a lot of characters with their own POV chapters.

I think I'm finally starting to recognize the characters.

This has the appendix at the beginning of the book, and yeah, it seemed as if the author was a little lazy with the world-building.

Reading any appendix is about as entertaining as reading a package of toilet paper.

It is not entertaining and that boredom is the reader's first impression! (that's why I don't read them, I skim them, but they are used as lazy descriptions.)

They do NOT belong in the beginning!

I have not officially started this yet, just bookmarked it at the prologue, but I'm already getting bad vibes, just like I do whenever a book has a list of characters, places, words, etc. in the beginning of the book... because it makes me question how descriptive the story is going to be or if those lists are all the reader has to go on. (I don't read them, I skim them. IMO they belong at the back of the book!)

This says it's book 1 but it's reading like book 2.

Very bad first impressions.
